The Function Of Student Nurse
Monday, October 19th: Today I was at Moses Cone renal floor in the role of student nurse. I had two
patients. One patient was a patient I have had before who went to hemodialysis. My other patient I had
not had before, and she was admitted because her salivary glands were swollen and infected. My past
patient went to hemodialysis at 7:45 right after I got report and introduced myself to her as my student
nurse. I was able to go see her in hemodialysis. The nurse who was working with her explained to me
who hemodialysis works. He had a little bit of a cultural/language barrier and it was difficult to
understand exactly what he was explaining. I was able to understand a little bit about how to monitor
your patient and make adjustments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was on a dysphagia 1 diet and was receiving her pills crushed in applesauce. She wasn t tolerating
it well because it was so bitter. Since I observed her eating her breakfast without any problems, and
since the order to crush her pills was a nursing order, we tried her on swallowing pills with water. She
did really well with this, so I spoke with her nurse about changing her order. This nursing intervention
we implemented deals specifically with learning outcome #2 which talks about analyzing nursing
interventions as they relate to health promotion in the older adult. The intervention we implemented
promoted our patient s comfort and also led to decreased gagging and greater adherence to taking
medications. Another less critical intervention I implemented were daily cares such as bathing,
ambulating, and changing her gown. These were also interventions for comfort and that contributed to
the patient feeling better about herself which will lead to healing. My personal goals for this week at
Moses Cone were: I will help another student with one of their tasks by the end of the day. I will make
a discharge plan or discuss with my nurse what discharge planning looks like before leaving. I will
introduce myself to my patients with my nurse. My patient goals are: My patients will be able to
explain what they need to do upon discharge to maintain health. My patients will state a non medicinal
therapy that can be used in their treatment before the end of the day. My

The Effect Of Physical Activity On Young Age Essay
The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of physical activity on teenage in late life.
Specifically, this paper focuses on how physical activity at various ages over the life course is
associated with cognitive impairment in later life . Many studies show that physical activity can
improve cognition impairment in old age, however, these results are not enough to prove the theory
that physical activity over the life course and its association with cognitive performance and
impairment in old age . In this study of participants who were physically active at teenage had a lower
possibility of cognitive impairment in old age. The paper focuses on the main factors of cognitive
impairment in old age. More specifically focusing on the question does physical activity in early life
have benefits for cognitive performance for cognitive aging? Physical activity is defined as the
movement of skeletal muscles, resulting in energy expenditure exceeding the resting state and it is
different from physical fitness (Blondell, Hammersley Mather, Veerman, 2014). Several things are
thought that early life physical activity is positively connect cognitive performance in old age
(Blondell, Hammersley Mather, Veerman, 2014; Laurin, Verreault, Lindsay, MacPherson, Rockwood,
2001; Lautenschlager, Cox, Flicker, Foster, Bockxmeer, Xiao, ... Almeida, 2008). In the present paper,
the role of physical activity attracts attention as a promising strategy to prevent the risk of

Islamic Banking Advantages And Disadvantages
According to Mansoor Khan, Islamic banking and finance (IBF) is an economic ideology that depends
on Shariah rules which are extracted from the Islamic holy book Quran and Al Sunnah what the
prophet Mohammed stated or did. This ideology is mainly about expunging interest and other
exploitive elements from the financial sphere. Islamic finance is an equity based system depends
mainly on Profit and Loss Sharing (PLS) modes. the instruments for doing so are Mudarabah (Joint
venture) and Musharakah (Equity participation) to perform the normal banking activities like
investment, lending and borrowing. these banks replace the interst based banking system to other
interest free instruments. for example, Murabaha (deferred

He also stated that Islamic banks in Egypt have a low market share of only 2 5%.
The causes of this low demand are still unclear, and probably the problem lies in the fact
that it is still unpopular enough. We suggest that a level of awareness should be provided
about the advantages of investment in Islamic banks in Egypt.
The report resulting from the survey gave many information about the condition
of Islamic banks in Egypt. The survey was conducted on a sample of one thousand adults
above 15 years old in the year 2012 in Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Yemen. The
percentage of Muslim respondents as they identified themselves were 95% in Egypt
compared to 100% in other countries. While 48% of the survey respondents have known
of the Islamic banks in their countries, just 8% of the ones who took loans or have an
account in a financial institution have referred to themselves as current users of Islamic
banks. Islamic banking is also growing a lot in the Arab world, according to the survey, it

A Reader- Oriented Approach to Edgar Alan Poe s the Tell-...
If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? A Reader Oriented approach to
Edgar Alan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart The Titular question is an old philosophical riddle for which a
wide range of metaphysical and non metaphysical solution has been offered. The answers differ based
on the perspective of the interpreter. Judging these answers is neither possible nor desirable for us, but
the riddle and the ensuing debates attest to the veracity of one of the most basic tenets of reader
response theory: If a text does not have a reader, it does not exist or at least, it has no meaning. It s
reader, with whatever experience he brings to the text, who gives it its meaning. Of particular

The narrator is a psychopath with wacky motivations. If we accept this convenient explanation then
we have to deal with another question: could a madman talks with such lucidity and exactness? The
answer that Ken Frieden gives to this question is a positive one. He downplays the contrast between
the sane narrative and mad narrator: The discrepancy between sane narrator and madman perhaps
shows the error of assuming that linguistic normalcy implies psychological normalcy. Friedan took it
for granted that the narrator is mad because he kills an old man for no reason. He is doubly mad,
Friedan said, when he imagines he hears the pounding of the dead man s heart and gives away the
crime he had concealed. Yet the narrator tells a coherent tale, as if to demonstrate out of spite that he is
sane, refuting the ordinary belief that he must be mad. On the other side of the road, there are critics
who are sympathetic toward the narrator and dismiss any suggestion of madness. Daniel Hoffman, for
instance is willing to believe the narrator s claim about the Old man s eye. Hoffman reads the vulture
like eye as a Freudian Father Figure. He takes the old man as a father figure; whose Eye becomes the
all seeing surveillance of the child by the father. (Bloom 53) . This surveillance is, Hoffman writes, the

The Great Expectations By Charles Dickens Essay
In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Estella Havisham and Pip are a product of physical and
psychological abuse that shapes their opposing perspective in the novel. Pip understands the notion of
love through Mr. Joe and his relationships with the varying characters, while Estella remains cold and
incapable of loving anyone, including herself under the affluence of Miss Havisham. Estella was
considered the great expectation at the time because she represented the beauty and affluent ideals of
the Victorian Age. Pip on the other hand, an indigent boy who could scarcely sound out words and was
apprenticed to a blacksmith. These two distinct, yet similar worlds of Estella and Pip will leave them
longing for something more that evidently influences their perspectives of the events in the novel, the
notion for love. Estella marries into an abusive relationship at the conclusion of the novel, while Pip
experiences various losses of family and friends, forcing him to realize that human compassion is
greater than societal standing.
While under the affluence of her benefactor Miss Havisham, Estella became molded into this puppet ,
resulting from the compliant and haughty personality that Miss Havisham induced in her. Miss
Havisham used Estella as a product of vengeance to men, since she betrayed and left at the altar by
Compeyson. In the dialogue where Miss Havisham scolds Estella for having a cold heart, Estella

The Narmer Palette
For about 3000 years, there were conventions to Egyptian art. The way people, gods, and the natural
world were depicted was governed by these canons. There were styles and techniques that could be
found used in almost every painting from the Early Dynastic period to the New Kingdom, and the
Narmer Palette is one of the earliest works discovered that depicts these traditional conventions of
Egyptian art.
The Narmer Palette is a ceremonial object that was made between 3000 and 2920 BCE. It was found
ritually buried in a temple for the god Horus in Hierakonpolis, Egypt. Throughout this work are many
different examples of traditional Egyptian styles and techniques being used. Both sides of the palette

It is commonly believed that it shows the unification of Lower and Upper Egypt, as on one side the
King wears the crown of Lower Egypt and on the other, he wears the crown of Upper Egypt. This is
the earliest discovered example of the same king wearing both crowns. There is a dispute over
whether the scenes are supposed to depict an actual battle or battles that took place during the
unification or if it is ceremonial and represents the unification.
This work caught my attention because of how it depicts the conventions of Egyptian art. It is
interesting to compare this work of art to the works created during the Middle and the New Kingdom
and see the similarities in how hieratic scale is used to show importance, composite poses, the
combination of both art and language, and many others. The Narmer Palette is seemingly the start to
3000 years of artistic style. Another thing that interests me about this work is that it is a palette. A
palette is not something considered special in modern times, yet back then it must have had a more
important meaning or been a more common everyday object for someone to care to take the time to
create this piece as a palette, rather than just a work of art.
The Narmer Palette is ancient work of art that demonstrates many of the conventions that were found
in Egyptian art for thousands of years after the creation of this

Bowenian Family Research Paper
REFLECTIONS ON BOWENIAN FAMILY THERAPY
This paper is an analysis of my family history in Bowenian terms. I will examine four generations on
my side of the family. I have included a genogram in the appendix to examine my personal
intergenerational patterns for assessment. I will also examine my family of origin in the categories of
race, ethnicity, religion, social class, geographic location, jobs, mental health and medical concerns.
The paper concludes comparing Bowenian ideas to other systemic concepts.
Race and Ethnicity Both my paternal and material families of origin are Caucasian. Ethnicity is Scotch
Irish. With reasonable accuracy I have been able to determine that my maternal great great grandfather
(not reflected on this genogram) was living as a young man in Georgia during the Civil War period. In
my maternal line I am also told that there is a Cree Indian relative in my great grandparent line; time
and place is unknown.
Religion
The grandparents of both sides of my family based their faith in fundamentalist Christianity. The
dominant religious beliefs are Congregationalism or modern day Church of Christ on the maternal line
primarily due to the influence of my maternal step grandmother Georgia. My grandfather (Uhlan) was
influenced by her in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Poems My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover
TITLE
Robert Browning s poems, My Last Duchess ( MLD ) and Porphyria s Lover ( PL ) take the form of
dramatic monologues and are striking examples of literature written in the Victorian era. Due to their
form, a great interaction is developed between the reader and narrator, with an additional oratory
effect; this allows the audience to understand a situation less ambiguously through features such as
tone. Therefore, Browning is able to present male and female characters more completely.
Furthermore, the poems accurately convey gender inequality present in Victorian society, hinting at
the lack of liberties given to women.
In MLD, Browning employs the Duke as narrator, developing the reader s perception of his
personality through use of language and literary devices. As a result, the Duke inadvertently portrays
himself as egocentric, proprietorial and at times arrogant, psychotic and paranoid. He refers to the
painting of his late wife as my last Duchess , with the possessive pronoun my indicating the Duchess
is just another of his possessions. This element of the Duke s ... Show more content on

Therefore, bias may be introduced as the narrator would not portray himself with negative facets.
Consequently, the reliability of the narrator becomes questionable. This is amplified in MLD, where
the Duke s proud nature possibly hinders the truth. In PL, Browning repetitively attempts to depict
Porphyria s lover as innocent, while in reality the murder was manic and psychotic. As a result,
uncertainty is created throughout PL, as such a narrator may be deceptive. So, the reader s perception
of Porphyria s lover might be incorrect, especially during his period of euphoria when Porphyria
appears to give herself up to him. This unreliability acts as another way for Browning to portray the
male characters, as a misleading narrator will introduce a whole range of negative

The Space Shuttle Columbia Explosion
On 1st of February, 2003, the space shuttle Columbia exploded when it re entered the Earth s
atmosphere after finished a 16 days mission in space. All seven astronauts were dead because of this
incident. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) had stopped the space shuttle
program for more than two years to investigate this tragedy. In the 16 days period, the astronauts did
approximately 80 experiments on different categories, for example, life science and material science
[1]. An investigation later has found out that the disaster was caused by a problem on the day that took
off on 16th of January.
What happens when launch? It was the Columbia s 28th mission, which was originally scheduled to
launch two years ago, on 11th of January, 2001, but was delayed 13 times due to different missions
took priority in the two years period. On 16th January at 1210 a.m., a problem with the external tank
attachment ring had discovered. Due to this fault, the ring plate might not meet the safety factor
requirement of 1.4, that is, able to withstand 1.4 times the maximum load expected in operation.
(CAIB 2003 p.33). Then, based on Columbia space shuttle had delayed for too long, the safety factor
requirement was waived. The active manager of the launch team then gave a GO signal to the space
shuttle. At 57 seconds after launched, Columbia received a wind shear which increased the
aerodynamic force on the external tank. It might be one of the reasons that leads to the

An icon of power and strength, Alcatraz has become the single most recognizable symbol of American
society. Situated in the San Francisco Bay, one can t help but be drawn to the rocky shore, the dark

Alcatraces was little more than a rock inhabited by a group of pelicans from which the island bears its
name (Alcatraces meaning pelicans in Spanish). However, in

Many prisoners worked as servants and maids for the many families that were required to live on the
island. A few were even commissioned to baby sit young children who lived on the island. Flowers
and shrubs were imported to help beautify the rocky island. Many inmates, because of this, were
allowed their own private gardens. In the 1920 s prisoners were allowed to build a baseball field on
which different inmate teams played in their own uniforms. On Friday nights hundreds of people
would come from the mainland to see the exciting Alcatraz Fights which pitted two inmates against
each other in a boxing type match.
With the rise of organized crime in the 1930 s Alcatraz went through some dramatic changes. The
deteriorating cell house was refurbished with electronically controlled cell doors, metal detectors, gun
galleries which allowed guards an elevated view of the entire cell house, permanently mounted tear
gas canisters in the ceiling of the dining hall, and tool proof bars. New cells nicked named Strip cells
and The Hole were built to house those inmates who required complete isolation. A strict silence rule
was instituted and those who violated it could be put in isolation for up to eight days. The once merry
days of baseball games and gardening were over.
In 1963, due to the exorbent cost of running an island prison, Alcatraz was officially closed.
Arguments quickly arose over what to do with the eyesore that the prison had become.

The Criminal Justice System Has An Important Function
Each actor in the criminal justice system has an important function. However, their perceptions and
actions toward victims can often shape how the victims feel about themselves and about the level of
help they will receive. The first level interaction the victim will often have with the criminal justice
system is with the police. Often how a police officer views certain crimes ultimately influences how
they are going to treat the victim. In the case of sexual assault, a very traumatic crime, the police
officer can be found blaming the victim. Researchers Sleath and Bull attributed this to rape myth
acceptance [as] [significant] [predictor] [of] victim blaming (Sleath and Bull, 2012, pg.658). This can
have an effect not only on the victims level of confidence in receiving help but also in the level of
attention the officer will give the investigation. These results are an example of how the roles of the
actors in the criminal justice system affect how they treat the victim. Police officers being the first line
of contact shapes the viewpoint of all the actors from that point on. For example, a detective in the
instance of rape they view what the responding officer reported. If the responding officer viewed the
incident negatively detectives have a harder time building the victim s credibility. Prosecutors, defense
attorneys, judges are the last members of the criminal justice system victims will face. In the legal
system, they are viewed as numbers in a system. Victims

A Brief Note On Pedestrian Detection Of Surveillance
Pedestrian Detection in Surveillance
Abstract
Pedestrian detection is fragmented as there are numerous algorithms used in different research. This
research aims to provide an overview to understand the current state of pedestrian detection as well as
analyse the challenges, effectiveness, accuracy and cost benefit of different approaches used in
surveillance and how current challenges are being tackled.
Introduction
Pedestrian detection is a key problem in computer vision. There are a number of ways that makes it
difficult to achieve without faults due to the differences in colour, motion, orientation and poses of
individual human beings but also segregation of the background which may or may not be cluttered as
well as other moving objects that just might get in the way.
Even though it is a difficult matter it is still a major research areas as there a great implications of
perfecting the system. Key application could include in the field of surveillance, robotics as well as a
tool in vehicular safety. It can also be used in a commercial apects as businesses would be able to
count the number of pedestrians creating a flow statistics for optimizing their business. For it to be
effective it should be able to handle emerging complex scenarios such as speed of detection for
vehicles to enable them to avoid or stop immediately and the accuracy in detecting pedestrian through
a crowd for businesses. These applications can also then be forwarded to surveillance as factors

Radar The Proliferation Of Location Based Services Essay
Abstract The proliferation of Location Based Services
(LBSs) and Geo Social Networks (GSNs) significantly increase the exposure risks of location
information leading to leakage of sensitive information. Location privacy preserving methods are
designed to provide a specified level of privacy based on some pre defined privacy guarantees such as
k anonymity and e differential privacy. In certain situations, we note that users would need different
privacy protection levels based on their relationships and trust associated with the users of the exposed
location data. For instance, users of a location based social network may need a smaller privacy
protection level in interaction with their close friends and a larger privacy protection level in
relationship with public users. In this paper, we present a privacy aware access control model that
provides different location privacy protection levels based on various access control list of users. The
proposed privacy preserving access control model not only preserves the confidentiality of access

Spanish Colonization Of North America
Spanish Colonization of North America In 1492 when Christopher Columbus discovered the New
World, Spain had discovered its next easy conquest. With North America added to its territory Spain
had surpassed ancient Rome as the largest empire. Exploiting the land, labor, and minerals Spain
quickly conquered and settled most of South America, the Caribbean, and the Southwest. Spain used
its new wealth to help finance their war in Europe. With promises of riches and many natives to
convert to Christianity the Spanish sent conquistadors who brought with them not only superior
military technology but also diseases like smallpox, scarlet fever, and the bubonic plague decimating
native populations like the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. These Spanish conquistadors, who were
poverty stricken nobles predominantly from the west and south of Spain, were then awarded
encomiendas, land grants that included the right to force native populations into slavery as long as the
convert them to Christianity (Shmoop Editorial Team, 2008). The Spanish Monarchy governed North
America using viceroyalties and audencias, royal mediation courts. The church also played a part in
governing the New World and large areas like what is known today as Texas, Arizona, New Mexico,
and California was under control of Dominican, Franciscan, and Jesuit missionaries with the goal of
converting the natives to Catholicism. Since North America was being used to fuel the income needs

What Is Riparian Water Rights
In the United States, there are two primary water right laws; the first is riparian water rights and the
second is prior appropriation water rights. Riparian water rights has two methods of use. One method
is the person who owns the land by the water source owns the water, but cannot interfere with the
natural flow of the water. The other is based upon reasonable use. A person can use the water if it is
reasonable for the purpose of his needs. This is based on case by case usage. Prior appropriation water
rights gives the right of the water to whoever claimed the land by it first. The person with seniority has
right to use as much water as wanted. The best policy is the riparian water rights. Both systems fair for

Wireless strong market position, perception of quality, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The explanation for the increase in wireless network costs is explained as a result of an increase in the
average cost per unit, driven by a shift to higher priced units in the mix of devices sold, partially offset
by a decline in the number of units sold. While Wireless costs went up, Selling, general and
administrative expenses went down. This was due to non operational credits recorded in 2015. A
contributing factor of this was a decline in sales commission in the Wireless segment. This drop in
commissions was due to an increase in consumers choosing to use the device payment plan rather than
point of sale purchase. Depreciation and amortization expenses also decreased in 2015. This was due
to Depreciation and amortization expenses not being recorded on Wireline assets in California,
Florida, and Texas. These Assets are classified as held for sale as of February 5, 2015. Verizon
explained their reasoning for this in the review by stating We will not record depreciation and
amortization expense on our depreciable Wireline assets in California, Florida and Texas through the
closing of the transaction with Frontier, which is expected to occur at the end of the first quarter of
2016. (Verizon, 2015) Overall

use of good judgment. Potential employers want an employee who can, as they say think on their toes.
They want an individual who can find a timely solution to both simple and difficult tasks that arise on
the job. I believe it brings up a valid point when it comes to employers telling college administrators
that graduates lack the skills to think and solve problems critically, as the majority of students lack
real life experience. Unfortunately,

Starbucks Global Quest
Starbucks Financial analysis 2005
Douglas Lilly
Strategic Management and Business Policy
Professor Turk
April 11, 2012
Over the past twenty five years, Starbucks has been leading the coffee revolution and turned a dying
industry upside down by mainstreaming their stores and creating a public fascination. From the
beginning of Starbucks stores through 2006, they have opened stores all over the U.S. and will be
taking it overseas. Starbucks is leading the coffee revolution and has expanded their reach all over the
world. With this much growth, it is easy for the company to lose their edge by forgetting the reasons
they have become so large from the beginning. In this analysis, I am going to go over an economic
assessment, marketing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everywhere you look you are bombarded with cups, coasters, spoons and anything else related to
coffee. The customer service is dropping and this is ultimately bringing down their profits and is not
due to the availability of growth.
Starbucks is still only supplying less than 5 percent of the coffee market. With this low of a number
there is still much more growth that can take place within the industry. This number allows for many
more stores to be added to their list of future prospects. Weber states that competitiveness is related to
company effectiveness, which is determined by whether the company satisfies the needs of
stakeholders (groups affected by business practices). Important stakeholders include stockholders,
who want a return on their investment; customers, who want a high quality product or service; and
employees, who desire interesting work and reasonable compensation for their services. The
community, which wants the company to contribute to activities and projects and minimize pollution
of the environment, is also an important stakeholder. Companies that do not meet stakeholders needs
are unlikely to have a competitive advantage over other firms in their industry. The economy is still
moving ahead strong and the possibility of their becoming a recession are starting to become a bit
more possible. The finances of the company are very strong and one of the leaders within the industry

Role Of The British Empire During The Industrial Revolution
Introduction The people of Great Britain are very proud of the nations history when it comes to
engineering and innovation. The role the British Empire played in the industrial revolution??, the
development of the steam engine?? and rail transport?? were the first few steps that changed the face
of the world (for better or worth) that we live in now. This idea fills people s hearts with pride. But
where this idea is still alive in some parts of the country, there are areas where this attitude is no
longer to be found. The birthplace of the railway has seemed to have fallen behind the rest of the
world. High speed trains that are outdated before they are even built and portion of the public resisting

Correlation between Cost Reduction and Manufacturing...
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
(Manoj Dora, 2014)[1] Encountered The key barriers by Food SMEs in the implementation of lean
manufacturing practices result from the special characteristics of food sector, such as highly perishable
products, complicated processing, extremely variable raw material, recipes and unpredictable demand.
In addition, lack of knowledge and resources makes it difficult for food processing SMEs to embark
on the lean journey One of the research studies in 2010 has found that the editorial board of Trends in
Food Science Technology barbed out The food manufacturing industry needs improvement on various
methods when it comes to production such as lean manufacturing for operational effectiveness
(Mahalik, 2010). [2]
In academia, the majority of the operations management literature focuses on the application of lean
manufacturing in large discrete organizations (Moreno Luzon, 1993). [3] Few academic articles even
started to raise interests over the straightforward application of lean manufacturing in processing
industries (Abdulmalek and Rajgopal, 2007 ; Melton, 2005) [4]. The specific characteristic of goods
and/or processes in processing industries offers a great demand to the application of lean
manufacturing (Abdulmalek et al., 2006; Van Donk and Van Dam, 1996) [5]. (Cox and Chicksand,

food manufacturing industries might not bring the desirable

Juvenile Crime Is The Number One Priority
INTRODUCTION Juvenile Crime has been increasing as society progress. Finding possible solutions
to help at risk youth is the number one priority. In society today, federal laws preventing violence
crimes are becoming more detailed and protected. However, it does not seem to stop criminals from
committing illegal acts, especially for at risk children in the city of Chicago. According to ABCNews,
Chicago s Murder rate is four time higher than New York City (Rosenzweig). Juvenile gang activities
are without a doubt, a reality, and is increasing uncontrollably in the city of Chicago, IL. Even though
there is no universal definition for gang , the National Institute of Justice, defined it as an association
with three or more non adult individuals who identify themselves as group that projects intimidation,
with a purpose of engaging in activities deem as a criminal act by society (NIJ). In order to prevent at
risk children from committing juvenile act, gang prevention programs must be supported throughout
the nation, especially in Chicago at the federal level. The following report will analyzed current
programs in United States, then determined whether the programs are contributing to society, and
providing additional alternative. DESCRIPTION The idea of gang originate in Europe and then
transfer to America. Although the method and time of when it migrate to America remained
unknowned. OJJDP claims that the first record of gang activities were in 1783 after the American

Target Marketing Strategy Of Walmart
Target uses a network of distribution centers, third parties, and its online website to distribute these
merchandise. Target currently has 37 distribution centers located in 22 states with more than 16000
team members. As a major competitor of Walmart, Target runs differently in Distribution. For an
example, the grocery selection of Target is little different from Walmart. Target uses distribution
centers to provide the grocery selection rather than uses the partner companies. On the other hand,
Target uses four facilities located near ports at Rialto, California; Savannah, Georgia; Lacey,
Washington and Suffolk, Virginia to receive overseas suppliers shipments. As it stated in the Wall

backend systems to India and U.S. firms (Kim S.Nash). Target was the company recently outsourced a
big portion of its technologic development to India and other U.S firms concerning outsourcing. In the
past years, Target s strategic use of technology made it possible to run supply chain more effectively
and gained a competitive advantage. However, according to the Wall Street Journal, Target Corp. plans
to reduce technology outsourcing as it looks to hire 500 software engineers and others to focus on

The Emergence of the Fast Fashion Business Model and Imposed Quick Response Challenges for
Chinese Fabric Manufacturers
Jennie Hope Peterson, Jimmy Chang, Yiu Hing Wong, and Carl A. Lawrence
Abstract This chapter explores and develops fast fashion in the current retailing industry and its
impacts on how the Chinese textile manufacturing industry has adjusted to remain competitive. Fast
fashion evolved at the turn of the twenty first century into a business approach characterized by fresh
fashions, shorter life cycles, and faster production, placing significant pressure for rapid delivery,
quality products, and low prices for each segment of the supply chain in a highly competitive
environment. Manufacturers must utilize dynamic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2006). This chapter will explore the development of dynamic capabilities of the woven cotton
piecegood supply chain in China and Hong Kong in response to the emergence of the relatively new
fast fashion retail business strategy and the consequent manufacturing adjustments along the supply
chain which improved production output and reduced production costs for the Chinese factories. In
addition, the following text will overview a qualitative research study conducted by means of in depth
interviews with eight large Chinese textile factories to gain accurate data on the changes that are
currently implemented to coincide with fast fashion s model. The data may be beneficial to buyers and
suppliers in understanding difficulties faced by both producers and retailers in the fast fashion industry
and may provide the possible changes China should make to further secure a competitive advantage in
the global textile industry. Lastly, a model will be presented, which is useful to textile industry
professionals for a better understanding of time management and costs associated with alternative
production methods. Current research in fast fashion generally does not extend toward the
manufacturing arm in China and to the reaction of the product suppliers; therefore, this work offers
unique insight into the ways in which the T C C factories prioritise, manage, and innovate to remain
competitive.

Effect Of Smartphones On Advertising
Dr. Fusani
Zack Mineo
Spring 2016
The Effect of Smartphones on Advertising The amount of smartphones users have nearly doubled
within the past 5 years, from 35% to 70%.( 2014 Marketing Statistics Infographic ). As the number of
users continues to rise, advertising will continue to integrate with smartphones. Smartphones have
dramatically changed the way consumers are approached by advertising companies. Before we can
understand how smartphones have changed the advertising industry, we must first recognize that
advertising and smartphones were not always related. By answering the following two question, it will
further examine the effect of smartphones on advertising. How have smartphones impacted the
advertising industry? How effective advertising on smartphones is?
Background of advertising
Before I can explain the effects of smartphones on advertising, we must first understand what the goal
of advertising was before smartphones. According to Joseph Dominik Advertising is any form of
nonpersonal presentation and promotion of ideas, goods, and services, usually paid for by an identified
sponsor. (Dominick 350). The first appearance of advertising on radio dates back to 1922 when the
Queensboro Realty Company paid a few hundred dollars for a talk radio show to commend living in
country lots from Queensboro Realty. (Dominick 179). Since then advertising has grown rapidly
especially during the time of the depression and World War II. President Franklin D Roosevelt wanted

Comparing Two Waves Research Paper
The term waves can have an infinite amount of meanings. It can refer to a girl s hair, the beach and
most importantly a physics theme. In a physics classroom, a wave is a disturbance that carries energy
from one point to another. The types of waves are endless from electromagnetic, sound, magnetic,
longitudinal and transverse just to name a few. The later two are key in class as they are the most
common types of waves and not only are they used to teach a concept but are also used in our
everyday lives. A key difference between a longitudinal and a transverse wave is the way they
transport energy. While a transverse wave does not require a medium to pass on energy a longitudinal
on the other hand must have a medium for it to pass down energy.
Each of these waves have a group of properties and display a certain behavior that makes them
distinguishable. For example in a longitudinal wave the particles move left and right making other
particles oscillate. Meanwhile in a transverse wave the particles move up and down. A set of
vocabulary words are attached to each wave and also helps distinguish them in a physics problem and
when presented with an image. In a longitudinal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Al-Hakam II
All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree. All these aspirations are directed toward
ennobling man s life, lifting it from the sphere of mere physical existence and leading the individual
towards freedom. This quote, once said by Albert Einstein, represents what Al Hakam II had strived
towards during his rule. Under his leadership, Córdoba experienced a golden age in the arts and
sciences. Al Hakam II and his father had built a vast library filled with books from all over the world.
He had also sponsored scholars, and established numerous schools throughout his territory. However,
despite the relative peace and prosperity, Al Hakam II had waged war against leaders from other
cultures and religions. In the year 632 AD, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Al Hakam told the generals to fight until everyone recognized his authority those who refused to do so
would be killed. One such person who refused to acknowledge him was Isdrisid Hasan ibn Qannūn;
and in the early 970s, he became the focus of Al Hakam s campaign. Al Hakam told Ghālib that he
would commit every last one of his soldiers and administration to the holy war against this reprobate
[fāsiq] . He and Ghālib always referred to Hasan as the reprobate [al fāsiq], the heretic [al mulhid], the
rebel [al māriq], and the tyrant [al ẓālim]. In Al Hakam s eyes, his eventual triumph over Hasan
marked the extension of his authority over all of the western Maghrib, and used this event to publicly
announce his legitimacy as Caliph. Al Rāzī [historian] reported that Al Hakam sent a letter announcing
the surrender of Hasan to his governors, to be read in all the congregational mosques. Although his
victory in North Africa caused the rebellious neighboring caliphs to acknowledge his rule, the same
could not be said for the Christian kings. One such king was Sancho I, who had become king of León
after the death of his brother, in 955, and deposed by his cousin, Ordoño IV, in 958. After the death of
Al Nāṣir, the Abbasid Caliph of Baghdad, and his expulsion, Ordoño fled to the city of Burgos
[Burghush] but was arrested and sent to Córdoba. Al Hakam had a meeting with Ordoño, in which the
latter declared his submission to the Caliph. With Ordoño s complete submission, Al Hakam promised

Tinker Vs Des Moines Independent Community School Case Study
In the well known case of of Tinker Verses Des Moines Independent Community School District, the

constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate. While shedding your
thoughts and freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate can be difficult, the district did
have the right to not renew the teacher s contract. I think that it is important to keep my mind what the

Connor Mcdavid Character
When Connor McDavid met with the media at the Bell Centre before Sunday afternoon s game
against the Canadiens, he looked like your typical, 20 year old Canadian kid.
A little awkward physically as he continues to grow into his body at 6 foot 1 and 190 pounds, soft
spoken and battling a bit of acne. But there s nothing typical about McDavid once he hits the ice.
The young Edmonton captain didn t score a goal as the Oilers beat the Canadiens 1 0 in a shootout,
but he was named the first star and was exciting to watch every time he hit the ice, logging 25:07. He
had a game high six shots on goal and drew three penalties with his blazing speed.

older guy now, it s something that you can feed off of and I think that s what s made him a great leader

So, what did McDavid do on his Saturday night in Montreal?
Not too much ... just kind of hung out, he said. It s definitely a fun city and a good place to be at, but
you got to keep it pretty serious.
McDavid still has close friends back home in Richmond Hill, Ont., who just go to school and do
normal teenage things. They must be living vicariously through their superstar friend, no?

Model Car Research Paper
One project that is very enjoyable and can be done by people of just about any age is building small
plastic model cars. It does not take a lot of skill to build one of these model cars but the more effort
that a person is willing to put into the project the better the end result can be. The first model will
probably not turn out as hoped for or expect, but with a little patience and some practice the ending
results should become better and better. The building of a model car can give a person feelings of
great accomplishment, which can help build up their self esteem. Before a person is to get started on a
model car project they will need to acquire the model kit and will also need to get some tools. The
model kits can be purchased at most hobby stores and you can get most of the tools and equipment for
building it there as well. If a person wanted to save money on some of the tools and supplies they
should be able to get some of the items at a Wal Mart or other discount stores, and some of the
supplies they might already have. A scissors and a utility knife will be needed to cut the model pieces

Bartleby The Scrivener Symbolism Essay
Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener is an example of romance by using symbols and evoking emotions
felt by the lawyer to bring the reader to a different place and time. Melville s symbols are not as
obvious as Hawthorne s; non the less, they are present. If we dig deep into the symbols of the story we
see reality; however, the story may seem a bit farfetched. Melville s symbols are not as obvious as
Hawthorne s; non the less, they are present. Melville also takes a different approach to creating
emotion with his reader. Instead of using colorful words to paint a picture, Melville uses feelings of

Progeria And Eukaryotic Analysis
Progeria is a rare disease that affects the nuclear envelope (lamina), and makes the nucleus unstable. It
is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene that produces an abnormal protein. This abnormal protein
is called progerin, and it causes the process of premature ageing in an individual.
Eukaryotic cells contain a sphere shaped nucleus that protects the genetic information (DNA) and
separates it from the cytoplasm. The nucleus itself is protected by a double membrane called, the
nuclear envelope. The nuclear envelope is made up of nuclear membranes, nuclear lamina, and
nuclear pore complexes. The nuclear lamina is the sturdy protein that gives the nucleus its structure
and shape. As well as providing structural support, the nuclear lamina is required for most nuclear
activities, such as chromatin organization, DNA replication, cell cycle regulation, nuclear positioning
within the cell, assembly/disassembly of the nucleus during cell division, as well as for modulating
master regulatory genes and signaling pathways. (Baek, McKenna, Eriksson; 2013) The ability of the

(Progeria Research Foundation; 2003) Normally, the amino acid produced is lamin A, but when
progerin is produced it gains a high liking for the nuclear membrane, causing disruptions to the
nuclear lamina. Without lamin A, the nuclear lamina cannot provide the structural support for the
nuclear envelope, causing it to take on an abnormal shape. This causes a huge strain for cell division;
without the support that the nuclear lamina usually provides, the organization of chromatin for mitosis
is disrupted and cell division is limited. When cells use progerin, they start to break down easier.
Progerin builds up in many cells of the individuals, causing them to grow up faster than normal.
Because of this the rate of ageing is 8 10 times faster than

Reflection Paper On Rock Climbing
Reflection Paper #3 During Week 3, we started our day on the bad side due to the lack of sleep, and
the change of weather. Throughout the day our energy level improved as the day went on. The field
activity for the day included rock climbing. Discussion of group dynamics, rock climbing technique
and leave no traces were brought up through out the day.
Group Dynamic The group dynamic was really off since the morning started. Everyone was gloomy
and sleepy. I know that I personally slept for four hours the night before . Which leads me to almost
thought about just coming to class two hours late just because of how unmotivated my mindset was at
the time. Even in the group setting, it was not just me who was low on morale, it was everyone in
class too. This can affect our group s energy and it lowered morale and excitement within the rank.
Sitting inside and listening to presentation all day long do not help . The idea of going out and moving
around have help with our engird level. This is useful for leading group in time of low energy like
what we went through that day. When it came to lunch time, people were feeling better due to having
food in our system, and the active hand on cooking hlep made us more active. With food in our
tummy, we were able to feel the energy to participate in our rock climbing.
Rock Climbing Technique Rock climbing was a very intense workout. I have not rock climb for a long

The Montreal Protocol and the Kyoto Protocol has both established its place in history for climate and

The type of politics, client politics, that followed the Montreal Protocol scheme is exhibited in its

  • 2. The Function Of Student Nurse Monday, October 19th: Today I was at Moses Cone renal floor in the role of student nurse. I had two patients. One patient was a patient I have had before who went to hemodialysis. My other patient I had not had before, and she was admitted because her salivary glands were swollen and infected. My past patient went to hemodialysis at 7:45 right after I got report and introduced myself to her as my student nurse. I was able to go see her in hemodialysis. The nurse who was working with her explained to me who hemodialysis works. He had a little bit of a cultural/language barrier and it was difficult to understand exactly what he was explaining. I was able to understand a little bit about how to monitor your patient and make adjustments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was on a dysphagia 1 diet and was receiving her pills crushed in applesauce. She wasn t tolerating it well because it was so bitter. Since I observed her eating her breakfast without any problems, and since the order to crush her pills was a nursing order, we tried her on swallowing pills with water. She did really well with this, so I spoke with her nurse about changing her order. This nursing intervention we implemented deals specifically with learning outcome #2 which talks about analyzing nursing interventions as they relate to health promotion in the older adult. The intervention we implemented promoted our patient s comfort and also led to decreased gagging and greater adherence to taking medications. Another less critical intervention I implemented were daily cares such as bathing, ambulating, and changing her gown. These were also interventions for comfort and that contributed to the patient feeling better about herself which will lead to healing. My personal goals for this week at Moses Cone were: I will help another student with one of their tasks by the end of the day. I will make a discharge plan or discuss with my nurse what discharge planning looks like before leaving. I will introduce myself to my patients with my nurse. My patient goals are: My patients will be able to explain what they need to do upon discharge to maintain health. My patients will state a non medicinal therapy that can be used in their treatment before the end of the day. My ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Effect Of Physical Activity On Young Age Essay The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of physical activity on teenage in late life. Specifically, this paper focuses on how physical activity at various ages over the life course is associated with cognitive impairment in later life . Many studies show that physical activity can improve cognition impairment in old age, however, these results are not enough to prove the theory that physical activity over the life course and its association with cognitive performance and impairment in old age . In this study of participants who were physically active at teenage had a lower possibility of cognitive impairment in old age. The paper focuses on the main factors of cognitive impairment in old age. More specifically focusing on the question does physical activity in early life have benefits for cognitive performance for cognitive aging? Physical activity is defined as the movement of skeletal muscles, resulting in energy expenditure exceeding the resting state and it is different from physical fitness (Blondell, Hammersley Mather, Veerman, 2014). Several things are thought that early life physical activity is positively connect cognitive performance in old age (Blondell, Hammersley Mather, Veerman, 2014; Laurin, Verreault, Lindsay, MacPherson, Rockwood, 2001; Lautenschlager, Cox, Flicker, Foster, Bockxmeer, Xiao, ... Subsistence) Japanese whaling practices have more in common with aboriginal subsistence whaling than the strict definitions of commercial whaling . The vessels they use are relatively small and operations exist in community oriented towns in order to enhance that village s identity rather then simply make revenue for the nation. Legal arguments used by both Norway and Japan to oppose IWC and other regulations on whaling are underlined with the idea that there is no scientific evidence to support the moratorium. Also, the threat of economic sanctions is in violation of GATT trading rules, U.S. policies are hypocritical because of allowing such groups as Alaskan natives to hunt whales. Islamic Banking Advantages And Disadvantages According to Mansoor Khan, Islamic banking and finance (IBF) is an economic ideology that depends on Shariah rules which are extracted from the Islamic holy book Quran and Al Sunnah what the prophet Mohammed stated or did. This ideology is mainly about expunging interest and other exploitive elements from the financial sphere. Islamic finance is an equity based system depends mainly on Profit and Loss Sharing (PLS) modes. the instruments for doing so are Mudarabah (Joint venture) and Musharakah (Equity participation) to perform the normal banking activities like investment, lending and borrowing. these banks replace the interst based banking system to other interest free instruments. for example, Murabaha (deferred According to the Islamic ... The causes of this low demand are still unclear, and probably the problem lies in the fact that it is still unpopular enough. We suggest that a level of awareness should be provided about the advantages of investment in Islamic banks in Egypt. The report resulting from the survey gave many information about the condition of Islamic banks in Egypt. The survey was conducted on a sample of one thousand adults above 15 years old in the year 2012 in Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Yemen. The percentage of Muslim respondents as they identified themselves were 95% in Egypt compared to 100% in other countries. A Reader Oriented approach to Edgar Alan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart The Titular question is an old philosophical riddle for which a wide range of metaphysical and non metaphysical solution has been offered. The answers differ based on the perspective of the interpreter. Judging these answers is neither possible nor desirable for us, but the riddle and the ensuing debates attest to the veracity of one of the most basic tenets of reader response theory: If a text does not have a reader, it does not exist or at least, it has no meaning. It s reader, with whatever experience he brings to the text, who gives it its meaning. Of particular significance is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator is a psychopath with wacky motivations. If we accept this convenient explanation then we have to deal with another question: could a madman talks with such lucidity and exactness? The answer that Ken Frieden gives to this question is a positive one. He downplays the contrast between the sane narrative and mad narrator: The discrepancy between sane narrator and madman perhaps shows the error of assuming that linguistic normalcy implies psychological normalcy. Friedan took it for granted that the narrator is mad because he kills an old man for no reason. He is doubly mad, Friedan said, when he imagines he hears the pounding of the dead man s heart and gives away the crime he had concealed. Yet the narrator tells a coherent tale, as if to demonstrate out of spite that he is sane, refuting the ordinary belief that he must be mad. On the other side of the road, there are critics who are sympathetic toward the narrator and dismiss any suggestion of madness. Daniel Hoffman, for instance is willing to believe the narrator s claim about the Old man s eye. Hoffman reads the vulture like eye as a Freudian Father Figure. He takes the old man as a father figure; whose Eye becomes the all seeing surveillance of the child by the father. (Bloom 53) . This surveillance is, Hoffman writes, the inculcation into his soul ... • 7. The Great Expectations By Charles Dickens Essay In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Estella Havisham and Pip are a product of physical and psychological abuse that shapes their opposing perspective in the novel. Pip understands the notion of love through Mr. Joe and his relationships with the varying characters, while Estella remains cold and incapable of loving anyone, including herself under the affluence of Miss Havisham. Estella was considered the great expectation at the time because she represented the beauty and affluent ideals of the Victorian Age. Pip on the other hand, an indigent boy who could scarcely sound out words and was apprenticed to a blacksmith. These two distinct, yet similar worlds of Estella and Pip will leave them longing for something more that evidently influences their perspectives of the events in the novel, the notion for love. Estella marries into an abusive relationship at the conclusion of the novel, while Pip experiences various losses of family and friends, forcing him to realize that human compassion is greater than societal standing. While under the affluence of her benefactor Miss Havisham, Estella became molded into this puppet , resulting from the compliant and haughty personality that Miss Havisham induced in her. Miss Havisham used Estella as a product of vengeance to men, since she betrayed and left at the altar by Compeyson. In the dialogue where Miss Havisham scolds Estella for having a cold heart, Estella replies, All that you have given me, is at your command to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Narmer Palette For about 3000 years, there were conventions to Egyptian art. The way people, gods, and the natural world were depicted was governed by these canons. There were styles and techniques that could be found used in almost every painting from the Early Dynastic period to the New Kingdom, and the Narmer Palette is one of the earliest works discovered that depicts these traditional conventions of Egyptian art. The Narmer Palette is a ceremonial object that was made between 3000 and 2920 BCE. It was found ritually buried in a temple for the god Horus in Hierakonpolis, Egypt. Throughout this work are many different examples of traditional Egyptian styles and techniques being used. Both sides of the palette are divided into registers. The back of the ... It is commonly believed that it shows the unification of Lower and Upper Egypt, as on one side the King wears the crown of Lower Egypt and on the other, he wears the crown of Upper Egypt. This is the earliest discovered example of the same king wearing both crowns. There is a dispute over whether the scenes are supposed to depict an actual battle or battles that took place during the unification or if it is ceremonial and represents the unification. This work caught my attention because of how it depicts the conventions of Egyptian art. It is interesting to compare this work of art to the works created during the Middle and the New Kingdom and see the similarities in how hieratic scale is used to show importance, composite poses, the combination of both art and language, and many others. The Narmer Palette is seemingly the start to 3000 years of artistic style. Another thing that interests me about this work is that it is a palette. A palette is not something considered special in modern times, yet back then it must have had a more important meaning or been a more common everyday object for someone to care to take the time to create this piece as a palette, rather than just a work of art. The Narmer Palette is ancient work of art that demonstrates many of the conventions that were found in Egyptian art for thousands of years after the creation of this ... With reasonable accuracy I have been able to determine that my maternal great great grandfather (not reflected on this genogram) was living as a young man in Georgia during the Civil War period. In my maternal line I am also told that there is a Cree Indian relative in my great grandparent line; time and place is unknown. • 10. Comparing Poems My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover TITLE Robert Browning s poems, My Last Duchess ( MLD ) and Porphyria s Lover ( PL ) take the form of dramatic monologues and are striking examples of literature written in the Victorian era. Due to their form, a great interaction is developed between the reader and narrator, with an additional oratory effect; this allows the audience to understand a situation less ambiguously through features such as tone. Therefore, Browning is able to present male and female characters more completely. Furthermore, the poems accurately convey gender inequality present in Victorian society, hinting at the lack of liberties given to women. In MLD, Browning employs the Duke as narrator, developing the reader s perception of his personality through use of language and literary devices. As a result, the Duke inadvertently portrays himself as egocentric, proprietorial and at times arrogant, psychotic and paranoid. He refers to the painting of his late wife as my last Duchess , with the possessive pronoun my indicating the Duchess is just another of his possessions. This element of the Duke s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, bias may be introduced as the narrator would not portray himself with negative facets. Consequently, the reliability of the narrator becomes questionable. This is amplified in MLD, where the Duke s proud nature possibly hinders the truth. In PL, Browning repetitively attempts to depict Porphyria s lover as innocent, while in reality the murder was manic and psychotic. As a result, uncertainty is created throughout PL, as such a narrator may be deceptive. So, the reader s perception of Porphyria s lover might be incorrect, especially during his period of euphoria when Porphyria appears to give herself up to him. This unreliability acts as another way for Browning to portray the male characters, as a misleading narrator will introduce a whole range of negative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All seven astronauts were dead because of this incident. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) had stopped the space shuttle program for more than two years to investigate this tragedy. In the 16 days period, the astronauts did approximately 80 experiments on different categories, for example, life science and material science [1]. An investigation later has found out that the disaster was caused by a problem on the day that took off on 16th of January. What happens when launch? It was the Columbia s 28th mission, which was originally scheduled to launch two years ago, on 11th of January, 2001, but was delayed 13 times due to different missions took priority in the two years period. On 16th January at 1210 a.m., a problem with the external tank attachment ring had discovered. Due to this fault, the ring plate might not meet the safety factor requirement of 1.4, that is, able to withstand 1.4 times the maximum load expected in operation. (CAIB 2003 p.33). Then, based on Columbia space shuttle had delayed for too long, the safety factor requirement was waived. The active manager of the launch team then gave a GO signal to the space shuttle. At 57 seconds after launched, Columbia received a wind shear which increased the aerodynamic force on the external tank. It might be one of the reasons that leads to the ... In the 1920 s prisoners were allowed to build a baseball field on which different inmate teams played in their own uniforms. • 14. The Criminal Justice System Has An Important Function Each actor in the criminal justice system has an important function. However, their perceptions and actions toward victims can often shape how the victims feel about themselves and about the level of help they will receive. The first level interaction the victim will often have with the criminal justice system is with the police. Often how a police officer views certain crimes ultimately influences how they are going to treat the victim. In the case of sexual assault, a very traumatic crime, the police officer can be found blaming the victim. Researchers Sleath and Bull attributed this to rape myth acceptance [as] [significant] [predictor] [of] victim blaming (Sleath and Bull, 2012, pg.658). This can have an effect not only on the victims level of confidence in receiving help but also in the level of attention the officer will give the investigation. These results are an example of how the roles of the actors in the criminal justice system affect how they treat the victim. Police officers being the first line of contact shapes the viewpoint of all the actors from that point on. For example, a detective in the instance of rape they view what the responding officer reported. If the responding officer viewed the incident negatively detectives have a harder time building the victim s credibility. Prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges are the last members of the criminal justice system victims will face. In the legal system, they are viewed as numbers in a system. Victims ... A Brief Note On Pedestrian Detection Of Surveillance Pedestrian Detection in Surveillance Abstract Pedestrian detection is fragmented as there are numerous algorithms used in different research. This research aims to provide an overview to understand the current state of pedestrian detection as well as analyse the challenges, effectiveness, accuracy and cost benefit of different approaches used in surveillance and how current challenges are being tackled. Introduction Pedestrian detection is a key problem in computer vision. There are a number of ways that makes it difficult to achieve without faults due to the differences in colour, motion, orientation and poses of individual human beings but also segregation of the background which may or may not be cluttered as well as other moving objects that just might get in the way. Even though it is a difficult matter it is still a major research areas as there a great implications of perfecting the system. Key application could include in the field of surveillance, robotics as well as a tool in vehicular safety. It can also be used in a commercial apects as businesses would be able to count the number of pedestrians creating a flow statistics for optimizing their business. For it to be effective it should be able to handle emerging complex scenarios such as speed of detection for vehicles to enable them to avoid or stop immediately and the accuracy in detecting pedestrian through a crowd for businesses. First, me and my sister Shelby got water flavoring to flavor the water. Then, we added the flavoring to the water so each of our popsicles would be favored. • 18. Radar The Proliferation Of Location Based Services Essay Abstract The proliferation of Location Based Services (LBSs) and Geo Social Networks (GSNs) significantly increase the exposure risks of location information leading to leakage of sensitive information. Location privacy preserving methods are designed to provide a specified level of privacy based on some pre defined privacy guarantees such as k anonymity and e differential privacy. In certain situations, we note that users would need different privacy protection levels based on their relationships and trust associated with the users of the exposed location data. For instance, users of a location based social network may need a smaller privacy protection level in interaction with their close friends and a larger privacy protection level in relationship with public users. In this paper, we present a privacy aware access control model that provides different location privacy protection levels based on various access control list of users. The proposed privacy preserving access control model not only preserves the confidentiality of access control policy but also provides an efficient mechanism for grant and revoke of authorizations. • 19. Spanish Colonization Of North America Spanish Colonization of North America In 1492 when Christopher Columbus discovered the New World, Spain had discovered its next easy conquest. With North America added to its territory Spain had surpassed ancient Rome as the largest empire. Exploiting the land, labor, and minerals Spain quickly conquered and settled most of South America, the Caribbean, and the Southwest. Spain used its new wealth to help finance their war in Europe. With promises of riches and many natives to convert to Christianity the Spanish sent conquistadors who brought with them not only superior military technology but also diseases like smallpox, scarlet fever, and the bubonic plague decimating native populations like the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. These Spanish conquistadors, who were poverty stricken nobles predominantly from the west and south of Spain, were then awarded encomiendas, land grants that included the right to force native populations into slavery as long as the convert them to Christianity (Shmoop Editorial Team, 2008). The Spanish Monarchy governed North America using viceroyalties and audencias, royal mediation courts. The church also played a part in governing the New World and large areas like what is known today as Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California was under control of Dominican, Franciscan, and Jesuit missionaries with the goal of converting the natives to Catholicism. The explanation for the increase in wireless network costs is explained as a result of an increase in the average cost per unit, driven by a shift to higher priced units in the mix of devices sold, partially offset by a decline in the number of units sold. While Wireless costs went up, Selling, general and administrative expenses went down. This was due to non operational credits recorded in 2015. A contributing factor of this was a decline in sales commission in the Wireless segment. This drop in commissions was due to an increase in consumers choosing to use the device payment plan rather than point of sale purchase. Depreciation and amortization expenses also decreased in 2015. This was due to Depreciation and amortization expenses not being recorded on Wireline assets in California, Florida, and Texas. These Assets are classified as held for sale as of February 5, 2015. Verizon explained their reasoning for this in the review by stating We will not record depreciation and amortization expense on our depreciable Wireline assets in California, Florida and Texas through the closing of the transaction with Frontier, which is expected to occur at the end of the first quarter of 2016. In a physics classroom, a wave is a disturbance that carries energy from one point to another. The types of waves are endless from electromagnetic, sound, magnetic, longitudinal and transverse just to name a few. The later two are key in class as they are the most common types of waves and not only are they used to teach a concept but are also used in our everyday lives. A key difference between a longitudinal and a transverse wave is the way they transport energy. While a transverse wave does not require a medium to pass on energy a longitudinal on the other hand must have a medium for it to pass down energy. Each of these waves have a group of properties and display a certain behavior that makes them distinguishable. For example in a longitudinal wave the particles move left and right making other particles oscillate. Meanwhile in a transverse wave the particles move up and down. • 37. Progeria And Eukaryotic Analysis Progeria is a rare disease that affects the nuclear envelope (lamina), and makes the nucleus unstable. It is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene that produces an abnormal protein. This abnormal protein is called progerin, and it causes the process of premature ageing in an individual. Eukaryotic cells contain a sphere shaped nucleus that protects the genetic information (DNA) and separates it from the cytoplasm. The nucleus itself is protected by a double membrane called, the nuclear envelope. The nuclear envelope is made up of nuclear membranes, nuclear lamina, and nuclear pore complexes. The nuclear lamina is the sturdy protein that gives the nucleus its structure and shape. As well as providing structural support, the nuclear lamina is required for most nuclear activities, such as chromatin organization, DNA replication, cell cycle regulation, nuclear positioning within the cell, assembly/disassembly of the nucleus during cell division, as well as for modulating master regulatory genes and signaling pathways.
