This document discusses the selection and use of photos in a music magazine called Crossfire. It provides reasoning for why certain photos of artists were chosen for the cover, double page spread, and content page. Factors that influenced photo selection included eye contact and focus, simplicity that allows for text, reflecting the artist's appearance and passion for music, and using lighting and angles to draw attention. Photos that were not chosen did not have as strong eye contact or focus on the artist compared to props or did not allow the artist to stand out as clearly.

2. This is the picture Crossfire have chosen to use on the front cover. There is several of reasons why it was chose. First of all his eyes give us a present and they are really intense. You get the feeling that he is in control of the picture which reflects his artistic appearance. Another reason is that it is a easy and simple picture. You have space enough to work on considering the text, but still the picture drags the attention. When taken the picture Crossfire decided that he should wear the cardigan because it gives a detail in the picture which without notice drags attention towards it and spilt up the picture.

3. This is another photo of the main character of the magazine. It is used as the photo on Crossfire’s double page. The way he fills two pages made it easy to chose this picture because it makes a natural cut between the two pages. What made this picture even better was the fact that it is got a nice space above the guitar for the article. The artist’s role in this picture is to show his passion for music and how much it means in his life. Practice is a big part of being an artist so that is why this is how the picture is related to him and the magazine.

4. Considering how to present the artist Crossfire chose to use rather different photos. That is one of the reasons why we chose to use this photo in our magazine. It is going to be used on the content page. His eyes is, although looking up, focusing down at the camera. Again this give us a present of him. It is used a high-angle which makes an impression that he is kind off on top of the world and that he is doing well. This is correct regarding his profession and status.

5. As regular magazine you would not only include one artist. The second performer Crossfire will present is a female. Her picture will not have any props, but only focus on the performer. To make her stand out, Crossfire have chosen to use a red background. This is to drag attention towards the artist. We have given her a make-up which catches your eyes by using red lipstick and dark eye shadows. The reason for choosing this picture is that she has got a nice eye contact with the audience and a nice posture.

6. How to select the pictures not to useAlthough Crossfire have taken many good photos, it is still not possible to use all of them. If you look at the difference between this picture and the picture used as the front cover you can see that his eyes is not as focused as on the other one. The guitar is also taking to much attention because of the lightning. Crossfire consider that the artist is this context is more important than the guitar. Without deep eye contact it is decided to not use this picture.

7. This is a different picture from the same shoot which is not going to be used. Firstly, the eye contact is not as open as the one being used on the content page. The picture makes her more mysterious and shy which is not our aim when we are presenting her in our magazine. The light on this picture is also poorer than on the other so that she does not stand out as much.
