The Android SDK initially only contains basic tools and does not include an Android platform or third-party libraries needed to develop applications. To start development, the SDK Manager must be used to install Platform-tools and at least one Android platform version, which contain build tools and other components updated separately from the basic SDK tools. An internet connection is required to install additional components via the SDK Manager.
