INT. BRIGHT LIVING ROOM - DAY
Sitting lazily on the dark couch and seeming drawn to her overgrown fingernails ROSE (13) does not notice that the neighborhood is not silent as it is the norm.
Indistinctive voices of children from the house across the street can be heard but ROSE seems unmoved. The voices become distinctive and ROSE raises her head.
With HASTE, she rises up and does not like what she sees. She does not pay attention to the children voices but to what she sees.
ROSE
She steps closer to her brother sitting and drawn to his newest comic books.
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD – DAY
The neighborhood is no longer silent. Raging fire interrupts the quiet every member of the neighborhood valued. Smoke has begun filling the sky.
INT. BRIGHT LIVING ROOM – DAY
Rose seems ready to do something about the raging fire.
JEAN (17) was Rose’ older brother who was mostly withdrawn and not ready to lend a hand as he held a strong belief that every person should have ways of helping themselves unless they were INCAPACITATED.
For a few years now, Jean always seemed unmoved and did not seem to have an intentions of changing his beliefs. His beliefs and behaviors had made his relationship with Rose to seem broken and unrepairable.
Rose had constantly shown efforts to mend it and make it what it was when they were younger when they could play together take care of each other whether out in the woods or in the backyard.
ROSE
Jean you must see this!
Hey, don’t you want to see this?
Rose pounced. His brother had been looking at his comic books and did not care much about what his sister was doing. Rose at this time had started thinking about what would happen to them now that their parents had gone to England for what they had said was a business trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Stonebridge were successful business people who were able to make a fortune for themselves. This could even be seen in their house that had expensive furniture and jewelry. Their house was one of the big and well-constructed houses in MOUNTAIN HILL suburb that was widely regarded as a dwelling place for successful business people, politicians, and the rich immigrants that created jobs for the city’s poorest.
As ROSE handled her thoughts and failed to conclude what was happening, Jean turned and shouted.
JEAN
Now what again, you coward.
ROSE was not surprised by the words of her brother who was always mean with his words not only for her but also his parents and grandparents that lived around 58 miles in the South East. These are people Jean and Rose interacted with most of their time and their parents had enrolled them to a private school that did not offer much social life.
Actually, both did not have friends they could interact with unless their parents had introduced new families who would come with their teen sons or daughters. This did .

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

EXT.
Road
Night:
(Grand detached, four bedroom house occupied by a wealthy middle class, sophisticated
family. The house is very clean with large, pristine windows. The garden is floristry like,
very neat with vivid green grass – the house is elegantly pruned – a dream to the rest of
society)
DCI JONES is sitting in a blacked out car watching every movement within number 13.
(POV) JONES examines the house, writing down notes on a notepad picking up minute
details.
JONES watches the pitch black door with iron engraved knockers (slow zoom into door)
Family pull into the drive way, JONES waits until they enter the house and drives off in the
opposite direction.
JONES watches the house over a period of weeks from different angles of the home to ensure
that he didn‟t miss anything – he changes from walking to driving to reduce any suspicions –
nobody knew he even existed.

EXT. (2 weeks later) Road
Sunset:
Jones walks past the house, drops a piece of paper onto the floor.
He bends down glaring at the house; He can see movement from the family in the house.
Jones stands up, brushes himself off and walks on – Jotting down something onto a small,
leather note pad.
(He couldn‟t let anything get past him or he would fail!)
EXT. (1 month later) Road
Middle of the Night:
(Dark, cold winters night – rain)
Jones gets dropped off at the end of the street. He puts his umbrella up and walks frantically
past the house – taking quick glimpses when he could.

Jones Bedroom
Afternoon:
Jones frantically looks through his notes and looks through his photos of the family and the
house.
He starts jotting down key times – (what time the family go out, the night they left to longest
– which was Friday.)
He starts packing a bag putting items into it (A gun, gaffer tape, gloves and rope)
The clock turns 8 (slow zoom into alarm clock) and Jones leaves to make his move.
Ext.
Road
Dusk:
Jones stands down a dark, overgrown ally, glaring at the house waiting.
Lights start to get turned off in the house and after a few minutes the family appear to come
out of the front door and into their car and drive off.
Jones lurked for a few minutes, and then he starts to walk secretively over to the house.
Ext.
On the property
Dust:
(Families house is very clean, and pruned. The house is well cleaned and exquisite to look
at.)
Jones paces around the perimeter of the family‟s house searching for an easy way in and then
he saw it, a downstairs window left slightly open.
Jones hesitates for a moment as he questions why it was too easy, but he dismisses the
thought and climbs straight in.
Int.
Inside the house
Dusk:
As Jones climbed in, his adrenaline pumps and it takes him a few seconds to compose
himself – he turns around and looks out the window – questioning whether he was ready to
complete the task.
(Jones is standing in a grand suite bedroom; everything is very tidy and kept in place.)
Jones starts rummaging through the wardrobes, draws, baskets just trying to find something
significant – but nothing just clothes, shoes and toiletries.
He couldn‟t waste any time, so he moved on.

Night:
(The house is mainly magnolia and is decorated sophisticatedly, with natural colours and
nothing out of place.)
Jones delves through the child bedroom searching breathing heavily – looking through the
wardrobes, chucking items everywhere.

Hallway
Night:
As Jones scrutinizes the house he notices a dark, shadow in the corner of the room.
He slowly edges towards it, realising that it is a passageway.
Jones stops abruptly as he smells a vile odour – damp and mould.
Jones composes himself and sluggishly edges his way down the dark, damp passageway.
As jones saunters down the passageway it gets darks with lights disappearing behind him, he
realises that it leads down under the ground.
After reaching the top of the staircase he stands their paralysed with his skin turning
colourless, he smelt raw flesh and blood.
(Jones‟s legs started to pulsate as he felt his blood pressure rising and a lump started to fill his
throat.)
Jones swallowed deeply and gently started to climb down the stair case.
Int.
Basement
Night:
(Jones fought to stand on his feet as he lethargically climbed down the staircase as they were
wet and grimy.)
Jones abruptly stopped as a luminous red light filled the walls around him – Jones through his
arms in front of his face to shield him from the bright light.
Jones was now standing at the bottom of the staircase, horrified with the sight around him.
He had a trepidatious gait as he went into the basement, he was terrified with the sight around
him – dentistry like chair with strong restraints smothered in deep claret blood, the place was
full of it.
Jones closed his eyes and whispered „god help me.‟
Jones slowly brushed passed a mirror and let out a monstrous yelp, he was covered in other
peoples blood!
Jones never dreamed of this as he entered through the window which felt like a distant
memory – he was not deep under the house in a torture chamber.

Basement
Night:
(On each wall in the basement were tools: chainsaws, knives, ropes, syringes all hung around
– Jones was imagining people stuck, isolated in the basement with a house full of murderers.)
Jones had to now block out his emotions in order to finish the job – he took a deep breath to
compose himself and carried on.
(At the far end of the basement laid a map smothered with pictures pinned against the image.
Jones started to walk over to the map and as he gets closer he starts to realise red crosses on
some of the image – but distressingly they were written in blood.
The map showed the people in the pictures addresses – their homes where their family were.
The people in the picture were those killed, targeted by the family. They had annotations ‟24
year old lives in canapé gardens‟ „9 year old walks dog in Columbia Park.‟
Suddenly, Jones emotions come flooding back to him, tears pour down jones face as he let
out a yelp. Jones had seen himself pinned up in one of the images annotated with „He is
watching us.‟
(Jones was there next target)
Jones frantically searched through his pockets looking for his phone. Something fell onto the
floor, he looked down to discover it was his DCI badge.
(Jones was a high profile DCI police officer hired by the government to investigate the family
to order an arrest.)
Jones had found his phone and tried calling for emergency backup, but it wouldn‟t connect.
He had no signal he was too far underground in a bunker.
Car pulls up back in the drive;
Family started to filter out of the car and walk up the drive;
Jones hysterically tried to get signal but everything he tried wasn‟t working, instead he sent a
text just in case he found any signal…

As he gradually gets higher he can hear the family‟s movements downstairs more sensitively

Jones miraculously reaches the top of the stairs, he is nearly able to escape then…
He escapes out the door and fumbles over, knocking a vase. The family had now discovered
they had a visitor in their house. Without hesitation, he runs back down into the basement. He
goes in and hides.
