D&G-1.Introduction title
D-2 and 3. General Info: The official name of the Philippines is the Republic of The
Philippines. The capital of the Philippines is Manila with the population of 10,444,527
people. The size of the Philippines 300,000 square kilometers with the total population
of 103.3 million people. There is the comparisons of the sizes and population between
the philippines and Wisconsin.
G-4. Flag: This is the philippines flag. The blue represents peace, truth, and justice. The
red represents patriotism and valor. The 8 rays of sun represents the 8 provinces of the
philippines. Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Bulacan, Laguna, Pampanga, Tarlac, and
Nueva Ecija. The 3 stars represent the 3 main island groups Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao.
D-5.Physical feature: The Philippines is made up of 7,107 islands but there are three
main islands and they are Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Luzon is very mountainous,
Visayas is flat and Mindanao is mountainous.
G-6.Cuisines: Lechon is pig that is roasted and served with liver sauce. Crispy Pata is
pork roasted and served with vinegar and soy sauce. Adobo is Meat, seafood, or
vegetables marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and black peppercorns, which is
browned in oil, and simmered in the marinade
D-7.Religion: The philippines are mostly catholic at 83%, protestant at 5.4%, and Islam
at 4.6%. Also, they have a small percentage of the independent church at 2.6% and
Iglesia ni cristo at 2.3%.
D-8.Distance: Wisconsin is 8,069 miles from the Philippines and the US is around 7,000
miles from the Philippines.
G-9.Visa Requirements: You need a passport but you only need a visa if you are
staying for longer than 60 days
G-10. Emergency Numbers: It is only recently that a universal number for emergencies
has been introduced in the Philippines. Before this there were separate numbers for
each region and now 117 is the national emergency number for police, fire and
ambulance. You can call 112 or 911 and the caller will be redirect to 117.
D-11.Currency: The Philippine currency is in Philippine pesos and one peso equals
0.019 US dollars.
G-12.Climate: Points it out on slide
D-13 and 14.Mineral and Ag resource: The Philippines have a wide variety of mineral
resource with copper, nickel, silver, and gold. Agriculture takes up about half of
Philippines land (47%).For ag resources they have corn, sugarcane, coconuts, rice, and
etc.
D-15.Language: In the Philippines there are many languages but the two major
languages spoken in the Philippines is English and Filipino.
G-16-21.Tourist attractions: Named as the most beautiful island beaches in the
world by Condé Nast Traveller magazine in 2015, El Nido is one of the must-visit
and must-return places in the Philippines in 2016. When in El Nido, experience
different island hopping tours to white sand beaches, enchanting lagoons, and crystal
clear waters, where you can swim, snorkel, do kayaking, or just relax and embrace the
hidden beauty of Mother Nature.
Boracay is probably the most popular beach island in the Philippines. It’s every
Filipino’s dream to visit this island located in the province of Aklan. With its soft
white sand, bright blue waters, beautiful sunset view, and unforgettable night life
experiences, Boracay has been included in the top 20 best islands in the world by
Condé Nast Traveller magazine.
The clear bluish waters of Hinatuan’s Enchanted River can go as deep as 80 feet
deep. A popular story among the locals tells that fairies and mermaids swim and
play in the waters, protect the river, and maintain its cleanliness.
A national cultural treasure and considered by Filipinos as the “Eighth Wonder of
the World”,The Rice Terraces were built 2,000 years ago by the ancestors using
stone and mud walls to construct pond fields for rice cultivation in the mountains
of Ifugao. You can even session with a Mumbaki (a traditional Ifugao witch
doctor) to perform spiritual healing rituals.
One of the most famous landmarks of the Philippines, Chocolate Hills are more
than a thousand hills spread over Carmen, Sagbayan and Batuan in Bohol. The
reason they are called the chocolate hills is because their green grass layers turn
brown during the dry season, making them look like chocolates.
With hundreds of caves explored and mapped, the island of Samar is starting to be
recognized as the caving capital of the Philippines. Langun-Gobingob Caves is
the largest caving system in the country, The cave system has a huge chamber
that can fit three football fields.
D-22-24.Colonial History: First the Spanish wanted to come over to The Philippines for
spices mainly. The Spanish were lead by Ferdinand Magellan a Portuguese explorer.
The Spanish ruled The philippines from 1521 to 1898. Second, President William
McKinley demanded the US Army to go to the Philippines to fight the Spanish to gain
the land of the Philippines. The U.S. took over The Philippines over in 1898 after the
Spanish American War of 1898. The U.S. signed the Treaty of Paris and they won
control of The Philippines until 1964.

General Info: The official name of the Philippines is the Republic of The Philippines. The capital of the Philippines is Manila with the population of 10,444,527 people. The size of the Philippines 300,000 square kilometers with the total population of 103.3 million people. There is the comparisons of the sizes and population between the philippines and Wisconsin. G-4. Flag: This is the philippines flag. The blue represents peace, truth, and justice. The red represents patriotism and valor. The 8 rays of sun represents the 8 provinces of the philippines. Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Bulacan, Laguna, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija. The 3 stars represent the 3 main island groups Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. D-5.Physical feature: The Philippines is made up of 7,107 islands but there are three main islands and they are Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Luzon is very mountainous, Visayas is flat and Mindanao is mountainous. G-6.Cuisines: Lechon is pig that is roasted and served with liver sauce. Crispy Pata is pork roasted and served with vinegar and soy sauce. Adobo is Meat, seafood, or vegetables marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and black peppercorns, which is browned in oil, and simmered in the marinade

Also, they have a small percentage of the independent church at 2.6% and Iglesia ni cristo at 2.3%. D-8.Distance: Wisconsin is 8,069 miles from the Philippines and the US is around 7,000 miles from the Philippines. G-9.Visa Requirements: You need a passport but you only need a visa if you are staying for longer than 60 days G-10. Emergency Numbers: It is only recently that a universal number for emergencies has been introduced in the Philippines. Before this there were separate numbers for each region and now 117 is the national emergency number for police, fire and ambulance. You can call 112 or 911 and the caller will be redirect to 117. D-11.Currency: The Philippine currency is in Philippine pesos and one peso equals 0.019 US dollars. G-12.Climate: Points it out on slide D-13 and 14.Mineral and Ag resource: The Philippines have a wide variety of mineral resource with copper, nickel, silver, and gold. Agriculture takes up about half of Philippines land (47%).For ag resources they have corn, sugarcane, coconuts, rice, and etc. D-15.Language: In the Philippines there are many languages but the two major languages spoken in the Philippines is English and Filipino. G-16-21.Tourist attractions: Named as the most beautiful island beaches in the world by Condé Nast Traveller magazine in 2015, El Nido is one of the must-visit and must-return places in the Philippines in 2016. It’s every Filipino’s dream to visit this island located in the province of Aklan. With its soft white sand, bright blue waters, beautiful sunset view, and unforgettable night life experiences, Boracay has been included in the top 20 best islands in the world by Condé Nast Traveller magazine. The clear bluish waters of Hinatuan’s Enchanted River can go as deep as 80 feet deep. A popular story among the locals tells that fairies and mermaids swim and play in the waters, protect the river, and maintain its cleanliness. A national cultural treasure and considered by Filipinos as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”,The Rice Terraces were built 2,000 years ago by the ancestors using stone and mud walls to construct pond fields for rice cultivation in the mountains of Ifugao. You can even session with a Mumbaki (a traditional Ifugao witch doctor) to perform spiritual healing rituals. One of the most famous landmarks of the Philippines, Chocolate Hills are more than a thousand hills spread over Carmen, Sagbayan and Batuan in Bohol. The reason they are called the chocolate hills is because their green grass layers turn brown during the dry season, making them look like chocolates. With hundreds of caves explored and mapped, the island of Samar is starting to be recognized as the caving capital of the Philippines. Langun-Gobingob Caves is the largest caving system in the country, The cave system has a huge chamber that can fit three football fields. D-22-24.Colonial History: First the Spanish wanted to come over to The Philippines for spices mainly. The Spanish were lead by Ferdinand Magellan a Portuguese explorer. The Spanish ruled The philippines from 1521 to 1898. Second, President William McKinley demanded the US Army to go to the Philippines to fight the Spanish to gain the land of the Philippines. The U.S. took over The Philippines over in 1898 after the Spanish American War of 1898. The U.S. signed the Treaty of Paris and they won control of The Philippines until 1964.
