3. I first took my photograph
and put it onto a Photoshop
document, after deciding
upon a background which I
made sure was linked with
my genre of music and also
it links with her headband,
helping her to stand out
even more. I used the
magic wand tool to cut
around her as this is a
technique that is used a lot
in my genre of music
magazine and in the
magazines I looked at ‘NME’
‘Q’ and ‘Clash’ this
technique was used in more
or less every issue. I then
edited the image by
increasing the brightness
which allowed her to stand
out more on the page. I feel
much more confident after
creating this with editing
images on Photoshop.
4. To create the title for my
magazine ‘AME’ I inserted
text onto a light purple
colour rectangle to allow the
title of the magazine to stand
out and be easily read from a
far distance. This is the main
reason I chose white and bold
font as it allows the text to
stand out very well and be
very eye-catching to
encourage the reader to
purchase it. The effects i
have used on this font include
bevel and emboss this was to
allow it to stand out and be
clearly read from a distance.
The use of bevel and emboss
is a technique also frequently
used on existing music
magazines such as ‘NME’, ‘Q
‘and ‘Clash’.
5. I Then found an image of a
barcode and used it by
inserting it as an image
onto my front cover. I then
inserted text which
included the price of the
magazine and the date of
the issue. I located it on
the bottom right hand
corner of the page as this is
where barcodes are usually
located on a magazine
front cover.
6. The main cover line is in
purple to link with the
colour of the logo/title and
carry continuity through
the magazine front cover
the use of the artist name
being underlined makes it
stand out a lot and tells
the audience that they are
our main artist in this issue
and clearly links to the
main image.
7. I then added a shape in the
right hand corner to link with
the purple in the colour
scheme of the magazine. This
is where I added one of my
cover lines using text tool.
8. The final thing I did was
added my cover lines. I
used a basic black font to
make them easy to read
and added white shapes
behind them. This is a
technique used frequently
in music magazine front
cover to help the cover
lines stand out and be
easily read from a far
distance.
9.
10. For the publication of
my contents page I
used quark and
created the logo/title
using Photoshop and
inserted it onto the
publication as an
image. I also did this
when creating the
title for the contents
page. I wrote ‘this
month’ rather than
‘contents’ as this is a
technique used in
many music magazines
as it shows it is
released monthly. I
have also added the
date in.
11. I then added in my images which
I edited on Photoshop to look
black and white and also crop
them to the appropriate size to
fit onto my contents well. I
added the page numbers on
using a word document and
after saving as a word 97 I
added it onto my images to
clearly tell the reader where
the relevant stories are.
12. I then used Microsoft word
and typed up my contents
for the contents page and
ensured that I used a
colour of text which linked
with my magazines colour
scheme but also allowed it
to be easily read and
noticed. I then inserted
this as a Word 97 and
added it to my contents
page publication on Quark.
I added shapes behind the
heading of the contents to
allow them to stand out
and tell the reader where
each content genre is. I
made these shapes purple
to fit in with the colour
scheme of my magazine
and also carry continuity
from my front cover.
13.
14. I created my DPS
on quark as well
as my contents. I
took this
photograph and
then edited it on
Photoshop and
after this inserted
it onto my
document on
quark. I also
added page
numbers as this is
crucial for a
music or any
magazine.
15. I then added text for
my DPS from Microsoft
word and after saving it
as a word 97 I added it
to the document and
after changing it into
three columns which is
how interviews and
text on a DPS is usually
shown I ensured the
font and colour of text
was bright and as well
as being easy to read
also linking to the
colour scheme of the
magazine. I have added
a drop caps to help it
stand out and also be
easily read and noticed
that it is the start of
the text. This is a
technique used in
16. I used Photoshop to create
a song list. I have seen this
technique used on a lot of
existing music magazines
and so decided to include it
on my own. I have used the
colours pink and purple to
create this as they stand
out very well and link the
DPS with the contents page
and front cover of my
magazine. This is carrying
continuity throughout the
whole publication. I then
added a drop quote also
using Photoshop and
inserted onto the Quark
document. I added a stand
first by using Microsoft
word and then inserting it
as a word 97 document
onto Quark and after
creating the title on
Microsoft word my DPS was
fully complete.
