In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Front cover I have added an issue number and date to the cover as this is a main feature to magazines. I used a barcode to make the cover look more realistic. I have made the main photograph central to the page so that it is easy to identify that the main article will be about them. I have positioned ‘flashback’ on top of the girls as this is the bands name. I also added effects to the font which links to the ‘flashback.’ I have done the title of my magazine in the style of an existing magazine but underneath wrote a slogan which is quite common on magazines. I added circles to the cover as this is a feature that makes my magazine exclusive and suits the target audience. I added a downwards arrow for effect as I felt it fitted with the phrase written. I have added other bits of information of what will be featured in the magazine to make it more appealing. I added borders along the top and bottom as I saw this was a feature shown on most magazines and felt that it made it look more professional.
Contents page I followed the title of my magazine onto the contents page as I saw this was done in existing magazines. I made the title of the page bold so it’s easy to identify that this is the contents page. I added the issue number as I also saw this was a feature on most magazines that I researched. I made a column for the numbers to go vertically down in to make it look tidy and easy to read. I made the headlines of what is on each page bold. As this is the main article I have made this clear by using the same font that was used on the front cover to write ‘flashback.’ I put circles around the page numbers that are of relevance to the front cover and are main articles within the magazine. I added a small paragraph or sentence beneath each sub heading to inform what the article is about. I used an arrow to point down to the poster to show that this is the picture that will be inside and as it follows the mise en scene used throughout. I have inserted photos onto the page and positioned them over lapping for effect.
Double page spread I added lots of images to the page to make the page more eye catching. I put borders around them to make them look more professional and changed the positions and angles of some. I noticed that this was done in existing magazines and I liked the effect it had so used it to start off my article. I changed the colour of the font for the questions that were being asked in the interview so it was clear to the reader. I made this photo larger than the others as when doing research into double spreads I noticed that most have a main picture filling the majority of the page. I added quotes from the interviewees to help attract people to the pages. I changed the colour of the font for the peoples name so that it was easy for the reader to identify which member was saying what. I wrote in italics who interviewed the band as this is a normal feature on magazines. I added shapes that were used on the previous pages to help maintain the mise en scene.
