Screen grabs
1. Screen Grabs
I have chosen 6 different shots from my trailer, I have screen grabbed these and I m
going to write about conventions I have used in them.
This is shot two in my trailer I used this as one of my opening shots as it clearly
portrays the relationship between the two characters in my trailer. The location is very
obvious that it is outside a church, I used this location as I wanted the audience to
think that they had just got married, I then got a wedding dress for my female actress
and a suit for my male actor this was to make the shot look realistic. I filmed this as
an establishing shot as it was used to open my trailer and I wanted the location to be
noticed. I think that this shot successfully conveys the relationship between my two
main characters which is what I wanted.
This is shot 5 in my trailer; I used this to show to the audience that something
secretive was happening. I wanted it to give a twist to the storyline and to add a bit of
excitement to my trailer. I used a close up shot of the draw and gun as I wanted my
audiences full attention to be on this. The gun was a very important prop for me to use
as this was used to show something was happening in the trailer. By showing that the
gun was hidden portrays to the audience that there is a ‘secret’ within the marriage.
2. This is shot 9 in my trailer, it shows drugs being found. I used a close up shot here as
I wanted it to be obvious to my audience exactly what was being found. I felt that this
shot was necessary as it gives more of the storyline away, and allows the audience to
understand why everything else was happening. I also used a high angle shot when
recording this as I wanted for the audience to look down on this and have a clear view
of what was being filmed as it was an important shot in my trailer.
This is shot 11 in my trailer; I used this to show how having a secret life can be hard
to get out of. This shot along with the dialogue used shows my main actor trying to
get out of his life of drugs. I used a mid shot here as I felt that it showed well what
was going on at the same time showing that they were in a secluded area.
3. This is shot 13 in my trailer; I used this to show my main female actress being
kidnapped. I used I long shot when filming as it clearly showed the two actors on
screen it showed the locations which I chose to be outside a house. I felt that this shot
clearly portrayed that my main female actress was being kidnapped. I chose for the
kidnapper to be dressed in tracksuit bottoms and a hooded top as I wanted him to look
suspicious and to not have any recognisable clothes on. I made sure that my female
actress was dressed in day to day clothes which were jeans, UGG boots and a grey
top. I chose this as I wanted it to look like she had just had a typical day.
The last screen grab which I chose was of my last shot which I filmed. The location
which I chose for this I felt was very important as I wanted it to portray that my
female actress was being held hostage in a isolated place. I think the location which I
chose successfully showed this as it was enclosed and had a spooky atmosphere. I
used many props in this shot, I used a chair and rope to show that my female actress
was being forced to stay there and to show that she was captured. In the room I used
objects such as spades etc I thought this complemented the ambience that I wanted in
my shot. I also had the kidnapper using a knife to show him as powerful over my
female actor and I had my main male actor using a gun to show him as the protagonist
towards the end of the trailer.
