A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An environment is a system of living things. /The earth is our environment. /The capacity of our environment provides
space to produce food and to supply energy/is all limited. Humans thrives less than 17% of the earth’s surface /and only
about 4% we grow crops ./ We depend on these limited resources for our survival/ yet we were increasing our
population as if they were infinite. (40 sec.)
As of January 2015,the world’s population was estimated to be 7, 266 ,171, 118.
In our country, the projected population has reached for over 101.6 million this year. / This makes us in 12th
rank in the
list of the countries by population.
And in Caraga Region/ it is estimated that the population is more or less 2,799,600 as of2010. /It is said that Caraga
Region is one of the most populated regions in the Philippines. / It also topped 1 of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy
in the country.
Most developing nations have large number of people who are illiterate, live below the poverty line and have little or no
knowledge about family planning. Getting their children married at an early age increase the chances of producing more
kids. Those people are unable to understand the harmful effects of overpopulation and lack of ignorance prompts them to
avoid family planning measures.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE SOLUTIONFOR THIS?
CONTRACEPTIVES?
YES!
Using contraceptives during sexual intercourse can prevent teenage pregnancy. Whether using barrier or hormonal
methods, contraception can help to avoid pregnancy.
Barrier Methods are designed to prevent sperm from entering the uterus and may be an option for women who cannot
use hormonal methods of contraception. Types of barrier methods include:
Male condoms. This condom is a thin sheath that covers the penis to collect sperm and prevent it from entering
the woman's body.
Female condoms. These are thin, flexible plastic pouches. A portion of the condom is inserted into a woman's
vagina before intercourse to prevent sperm from entering the uterus.
2. Diaphragms. A shallow, flexible cup made of latex or soft rubber that is inserted into the vagina before
intercourse, blocking sperm from entering the uterus.
Cervical caps. These are similar to diaphragms, but smaller, more rigid, and less noticeable. The cervical cap is a
thin silicone cup that is inserted into the vagina before intercourse to block sperm from entering the uterus.
Hormonal Methods
Hormonal methods of birth control use hormones to regulate or stop ovulation and prevent pregnancy. Ovulation is the
biological process in which the ovary releases an egg, making it available for fertilization. Types of hormonal methods
include:
Combined oral contraceptives("the pill"). It contains different combinations of the synthetic estrogens and
progestins and are given to interfere with ovulation.
Progestin-only pills (POPs). It thickens cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to swim into the uterus or
to enter the fallopian tube.
Intrauterine Methods
An IUD is a small, T-shaped device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. A health care provider inserts the
device. An IUD can remain and function effectively for many years at a time. After the recommended length of time, or
when the woman no longer needs or desires contraception, a health care provider removes or replaces the device.
Educating teens about contraceptive methods may help to change attitudes and behaviors toward safer sex practices.
INTERVIEW
T- Are you in favor of contraceptive measures? Why?
S- What do you think why most of the couples use contraceptive measures during intercourse?
Serious consequences are at stake and ways of preventing over-population should be a high priority. Over-
population and continuing population growth are making substantial contributions to the destruction of Earth's life
support systems. Contraceptive aren’t only the solution for this problem. Action plans and strategies can be developed to
increase public understanding of how rapid population growth limits chances for meeting basic needs.
The spirit of open communication and empowerment of individual women and men will be a key to successfulsolution to
many population problems. Collective vision about health care, family planning and women's education at the community
level build a basis for action. Free and equal access to health care, family planning and education are desirable in their
own right and will also help reduce unwanted fertility.
Teachers, parents, other educators, politicians and other concerned citizens can practice how to make good decisions in
everyday life. Decisions about family size and resource will affect the future generations. Through community forums,
specific issues about the population growth can be discussed and possible action plans can be developed.
All humanity has a choice. We can either solve overpopulation humanely – by inspiring all families to voluntarily choose
zero, one or two children – or we can allow more famines, disease (Ebola), misery, suffering and an explosion of early
deaths to solve it inhumanely.
Simply put, that’s the choice. And it’s our choice. Let’s choose the humane course now. Overpopulation can be solve!
One child families can save humanity!
