A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching on Knowledge...ijtsrd
RESEARCH PROBLEM A study to evaluate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching on knowledge of newborn resuscitation among nursing students in selected nursing institutions of Dist. Patiala, Punjab.BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Newborn birth is a natural challenge this is a transition from the intrauterine to extra uterine life. Majority of babies handle this transition well, and if they do not need any medical intervention for survival, but 5 10 of newborn needs some resuscitation. The interventions require may range from simple tactile stimulation to complex cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.AIMS OF THE STUDY To impart knowledge regarding newborn resuscitation among nursing students.DESIGN Quasi experimental non randomized control group design.METHODOLOGY A quantitative approach with experimental research design was used for this study. The sample consisted of 100 B.SC N 3rd and 4th year at selected Colleges of Patiala, Punjab. The sample was chosen by using convenience sampling technique. VAT was administered and data was collected by using self structured knowledge questionnaire.RESULTS The mean knowledge score of nursing students regarding newborn resuscitation in the control group was 54.8 and 55.2 , in pre test and post test respectively. The mean knowledge score of B.Sc N 3rd and 4th students regarding newborn resuscitation in the experimental group was 54.67 and 73.53 .The computed ‘Z’ test value was 24.36 significant at 5 level. CONCLUSION The enhancement of knowledge score in the experimental group was 5.66 after the structured teaching programme and in the control group was 0.14. There was a significant association between year of persuing and previous percentage of academic qualification of students and the other demographic variables did not shown any significant association. A Descriptive Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding New Born Care among Pos...ijtsrd
In many communities around the world, newborn deaths are so common that children are not even named until they survive their first month of life. Children are an embodiment of our dreams and hopes for the future. For a nation to grow and progress, the well being and the health of the children is of crucial importance. Advances in medical research, the advent of new technologies have helped improve the healthcare of both well and sick newborn babies. Further innovation in baby care equipment have made the task of caring for babies much easier. Care practices immediately after delivery play a major role in causing neonatal morbidities and mortalities. Insufficient knowledge of parents regarding essential newborn care leads to decrease in the quality care. The investigators felt a real need to assess the mother's knowledge regarding essential newborn care. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge of postnatal mothers regarding essential newborn care and to develop a pamphlet on new born care. A descriptive study with non experimental research design was adopted. Sixty postnatal mothers admitted in postnatal ward of SGT hospital ,Gurugram were selected using convenient sampling technique from 16 04 to 22 04 2019. The tool used was structured questionnaire. The study findings revealed that majority 63.3 of the postnatal mothers had satisfactory knowledge scores and only 10 postnatal mothers had inadequate knowledge scores, whereas rest 26.6 of the subjects had inadequate knowledge regarding essential newborn care. A pamphlet regarding essential newborn care was disseminated to postnatal mothers. A Quasi Experimental Study to Evaluate the Effect of Prefeeding Oral Stimulat...ijtsrd
BackgroundPremature infants are defined as neonates born before 37 weeks gestational age a newborn infant, or neonate, is a baby under 28 days of age. During these first 28 days of life, the baby is at highest risk of dying. It is thus crucial that appropriate feeding and care are provided during this period, both to improve the infant’s chances of survival and to lay the foundations for a healthy life. Objective To evaluate the effect of prefeeding oral stimulation program on oral feeding skills among preterm infants.Material and Methods A quasi experimental approach and pretest posttest control group design was adopted. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 40 preterm infants i.e. 20 in each experimental and control group. In experimental group, intra and peri oral stimulation was given for 3 minutes and 2 minutes on pacifier, 2 times a day at 2 hours intervals for the duration of 4 days and in control group routine care was done. Data collection was done using oral feeding skills assessment scale. The collected data were analyzed by calculating frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi square, and -‘t’ test.Findings The results revealed that in pre test, there was no statistically significant p 0.05 difference in all levels of feeding skills among preterm infants between experimental and control group but in post test there was statistically significant p 0.05 difference found in mean score of all levels of feeding skills among preterm infants in experimental and control group. The difference between the pre test and post test mean scores of all levels of feeding skills among preterm infants in experimental group was statistically more significant in comparison with control group after provision of 4 days of prefeeding oral stimulation programme. Hence prefeeding oral stimulation programme was found to be effective in improving the oral feeding skills among preterm infants. Conclusion The effect of prefeeding oral stimulation program on oral feeding skills among preterm infants is effective and it helped in the improvement of preterm infants feeding skills. A descriptive study on newborn care among postnatal mothers in selected mater...pharmaindexing
The newborn health challenge faced by India is more formidable than that experienced by any other country in the world. The newborn health is inevitably affected by the traditional care practices of the mothers causing high infant morbidity and mortality. The aim of the study were determine the knowledge, attitude and practice of postnatal mothers regarding new born care and find out the association between knowledge, attitude and practice of postnatal mothers regarding new born care and to determine the association between these as well as with the selected demographic variables. A descriptive study was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of postnatal mothers regarding new born care in selected maternity centres in Madurai. Survey approach was employed to select sample and it consisted of 100 postnatal mothers. Data was collected using structured interview schedule. Findings of the study showed that 65% of postnatal mothers had moderate knowledge; 61% had favourable attitude and 57% of them had high practice of new born care. There was a significant association between knowledge and attitude (r=+0.567), knowledge and practice (r=+0.388), attitude and practice (r=+0.321) .There was a significant association between knowledge and education, monthly family income and obstetrical score at p<0.05. Findings of the study indicated the need to conduct frequent assessment of knowledge, attitude and practice of postnatal mothers regarding new born care. Awareness and attitude of the mothers towards new born care still has lots of lacunae especially in those who belong to the lower socio economic statusand poorly educated postnatal mothers. So it is imperative to provide comprehensive training in the field of new born care for mothers during pregnancy
Maternal perception about neonatal jaundice in eastern nepal a qualitative studydineshdharel13
The perception of mothers regarding recognition, seriousness, causes and treatment of jaundice in their newborn babies mostly reflected their own misconceptions about this common neonatal problem. The experience of mothers caring for children with jaundice in their neonatal period along with the influence of their family and society evidently shaped their perceptions about neonatal jaundice.

The relationship between prenatal self care and adverse birth outcomes in you...iosrjce
Birth outcomes refer to the end result of a pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to examine the
relationship between self care practices during pregnancy and adverse birth outcomes in young women aged 16
to 24 years at a provincial maternity hospital in Zimbabwel. A descriptive corelational design was used. Orem’s
Self Care theory was used to guide the study. Eighty pregnant women were selected using systematic random
sampling and, data was collected using interviews from the 1 March - 31 April 2012. Permission to carry out
the study was obtained from the provincial maternity hospital, the Department of Nursing Science and the
Medical and Research Council of Zimbabwe. Findings revealed such adverse birth outcomes as prematurity
(between 28-32 weeks) 10 (12.5%), still births, 3 (3.75%), low apgar 17 (21.2%) and low birth weight 16 (20%).
Adverse birth outcomes in the mothers included high blood pressure 32 (40%), HIV infection 20 (25%) and post
partum hemorrhage 7 (8.8%) Twenty-four (30%) participants had not booked for antenatal care, 1 (1.8%)
booked for antenatal care at less than 12 weeks while only 1 (1.8%) disclosed her pregnancy at above 29 weeks’
gestation. There was a moderate significant positive correlation between self care practices and adverse birth
outcomes, r=.340. This meant that birth outcomes improved as self care practices increased. Significant R2
. was
.115 meaning self care practices explained 11.5% of the variance observed in birth outcomes. Midwives should
advocate delay in sexual debut in young women to reduce adverse birth outcomes.

Breastfeeding is a key tool for nourishing a baby, preventing childhood illnesses like obesity, and hypertension later on in life. In addition, it reduces the cost to the family and the entire country. Uganda to some extent faces a great deal of challenges, particularly in the health sector. The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices of exclusive breastfeeding in mothers with infants between 1 day to 2 years of age attending the immunization and the pediatric inpatient in Kiryandongo Hospital and to identify factors that affect exclusive breastfeeding (EBF). A cross-section descriptive survey design was used. 187 respondents were selected randomly. The data were collected using a questionnaire and the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency and percentages. The result of this study showed that 71.2 % knew the correct definition and duration of exclusive breastfeeding, 59.7% exclusively breastfeeds for the first six (6) months of life, 100% gave colostrum to their babies because they believed it provides nutrition and protection to their babies, 87% breastfed on demand. The result also showed that there is a positive attitude of mothers toward exclusive breastfeeding as 86.6% of them agreed that breast milk alone is sufficient to the baby during the first six (6) months of life as well as believed that EBF has benefits to both the infants and the mother. 51% of respondents weaned their babies between 15-18 months and 41% weaned between 19 months to 2 years. It was concluded that there was a high level of knowledge on breastfeeding among the respondents, more than half of the respondents practiced exclusive breastfeeding as recommended and relatively all the respondents had positive attitude toward exclusive breastfeeding.

The main purpose of the present study was to determine the effect of regular home visits on the developmental indices of low birth weight infants. The present study was an on-site clinical investigation. 90 infants ranging between 1500 to 2500g born in Razi Hospital of Marand town having the entrance criteria to the present study were taken into consideration through the available sampling method and then they were divided into two intervention and control groups. The intervention group has received the whole routine cares since the first to fourth week and then they were visited at home for 45 minutes a week. The control group received the routine cares. The evolutionary indices of both groups were also completed monthly for three months by referring homes. The related data gathering tool was also subjected to the demographic information through registration list and the Persian version of the Low Weight Infant Inventory (LWII) (2 months) that have been completed by the researcher on the birthday, first, second and third months of the birth through the interview. SPSS-15 software and the application of the inferential and descriptive statistical tests (K2 and T-tests) were also applied in order to analyze the related data in this study. The significance level was considered as p<0.05.
More than half of these related research units of both groups had experience (61.5%) and control (55.8%) regarding all women in this study; the mean score of the low weight infants on the first month had not shown any statistical significant difference; but on the second months (p=0.04) and the third months (p=0.001), they had shown statistical significant difference progressively. The healthcare based on home-visit had influence on the recovery indices of the low weight infants. Hence, nurses and other health monitors of the infants should apply for the healthcare programs based on home-visit particularly in caring infants.
Neonatal and Obstetric Risk Assessment (NORA) Pregnancy Cohort Study in Singa...Premier Publishers
The Neonatal and Obstetric Risk Assessment (NORA) pregnancy cohort study was set up to assess clinical, biochemical and biophysical markers for risk assessment and prediction of the outcomes early in pregnancy. A total of 3271 patients who were in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital between September 2010 and October 2014 were screened and 1013 patients consented to participate in the study. Women were followed at 18 to 22 weeks, 28 to 32 weeks and 34 weeks and above, till their postnatal discharge from the hospital. Finally, 926 patients remained for studying the outcome. In NORA study, we established locally derived and gestational age-specific reference intervals for the five thyroid hormone parameters. Higher serum progesterone levels at 28–32 weeks of pregnancy were observed in women who had preterm deliveries compared with women with term deliveries in the cohort. We also found that extracellular vesicle (EV) biomarkers enhanced the predictive robustness of an existing pre-eclampsia (PE) biomarker sufficiently to justify PE screening in a low-risk general obstetric population. We plan to further conduct a range of serial assessments from the biosamples which will provide a comprehensive and valuable information of the dynamics of maternal conditions and fetal development during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding Practices of Postnatal Mothers: Exclusivity, Frequency and Dura...IJEAB
Mothers who perceive breastfeeding to be healthier, easier and more convenient breastfeed longer than those who perceive that breastfeeding is restrictive, inconvenient and uncomfortable.

[[IAA JSR 10(1)49-60, 2023.Awareness and Practice of Breast Feeding among Mot...PUBLISHERJOURNAL

This study focused on the breastfeeding practices of postnatal mothers with regard to exclusivity, frequency and duration. It was a cross-sectional research design covering the three levels of health care institutions in the South-East Zone of Nigeria. Convenient sampling method was used to select 299 postnatal mothers who visited infant welfare clinics along with their infants. Three research questions and one null hypothesis guided the study. The instruments used for data collection were questionnaire on patterns of breastfeeding by postnatal mothers (QPBF) and checklist on health status of infants with varied breastfeeding patterns (CHSIVBP). Frequency distribution and percentages were used to answer the research questions while chi-square test was used in testing the null hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that most of the postnatal mothers practiced EBF for a short period, majority breastfed their infants on demand day and night, and majority also reported that their infants suckle the breast for more than 20minutes. Also breastfeeding patterns of the postnatal mothers was found to differ significantly across the three levels of health care institutions. Childbearing mothers need to be motivated on the need to practice EBF for six month postpartum.

Richard's aventures in two entangled wonderlandsRichard Gill
Since the loophole-free Bell experiments of 2020 and the Nobel prizes in physics of 2022, critics of Bell's work have retreated to the fortress of super-determinism. Now, super-determinism is a derogatory word - it just means "determinism". Palmer, Hance and Hossenfelder argue that quantum mechanics and determinism are not incompatible, using a sophisticated mathematical construction based on a subtle thinning of allowed states and measurements in quantum mechanics, such that what is left appears to make Bell's argument fail, without altering the empirical predictions of quantum mechanics. I think however that it is a smoke screen, and the slogan "lost in math" comes to my mind. I will discuss some other recent disproofs of Bell's theorem using the language of causality based on causal graphs. Causal thinking is also central to law and justice. I will mention surprising connections to my work on serial killer nurse cases, in particular the Dutch case of Lucia de Berk and the current UK case of Lucy Letby.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MARTIAN ATMOSPHERE SAMPLE RETURN.Sérgio Sacani
The return of a sample of near-surface atmosphere from Mars would facilitate answers to several first-order science questions surrounding the formation and evolution of the planet. One of the important aspects of terrestrial planet formation in general is the role that primary atmospheres played in influencing the chemistry and structure of the planets and their antecedents. Studies of the martian atmosphere can be used to investigate the role of a primary atmosphere in its history. Atmosphere samples would also inform our understanding of the near-surface chemistry of the planet, and ultimately the prospects for life. High-precision isotopic analyses of constituent gases are needed to address these questions, requiring that the analyses are made on returned samples rather than in situ.

Multi-source connectivity as the driver of solar wind variability in the heli...Sérgio Sacani
The ambient solar wind that flls the heliosphere originates from multiple
sources in the solar corona and is highly structured. It is often described
as high-speed, relatively homogeneous, plasma streams from coronal
holes and slow-speed, highly variable, streams whose source regions are
under debate. A key goal of ESA/NASA’s Solar Orbiter mission is to identify
solar wind sources and understand what drives the complexity seen in the
heliosphere. By combining magnetic feld modelling and spectroscopic
techniques with high-resolution observations and measurements, we show
that the solar wind variability detected in situ by Solar Orbiter in March
2022 is driven by spatio-temporal changes in the magnetic connectivity to
multiple sources in the solar atmosphere. The magnetic feld footpoints
connected to the spacecraft moved from the boundaries of a coronal hole
to one active region (12961) and then across to another region (12957). This
is refected in the in situ measurements, which show the transition from fast
to highly Alfvénic then to slow solar wind that is disrupted by the arrival of
a coronal mass ejection. Our results describe solar wind variability at 0.5 au
but are applicable to near-Earth observatories.
Cancer cell metabolism: special Reference to Lactate PathwayAADYARAJPANDEY1
Normal Cell Metabolism:
Cellular respiration describes the series of steps that cells use to break down sugar and other chemicals to get the energy we need to function.
Energy is stored in the bonds of glucose and when glucose is broken down, much of that energy is released.
Cell utilize energy in the form of ATP.
The first step of respiration is called glycolysis. In a series of steps, glycolysis breaks glucose into two smaller molecules - a chemical called pyruvate. A small amount of ATP is formed during this process.
Most healthy cells continue the breakdown in a second process, called the Kreb's cycle. The Kreb's cycle allows cells to “burn” the pyruvates made in glycolysis to get more ATP.
The last step in the breakdown of glucose is called oxidative phosphorylation (Ox-Phos).
It takes place in specialized cell structures called mitochondria. This process produces a large amount of ATP. Importantly, cells need oxygen to complete oxidative phosphorylation.
If a cell completes only glycolysis, only 2 molecules of ATP are made per glucose. However, if the cell completes the entire respiration process (glycolysis - Kreb's - oxidative phosphorylation), about 36 molecules of ATP are created, giving it much more energy to use.
IN CANCER CELL:
Unlike healthy cells that "burn" the entire molecule of sugar to capture a large amount of energy as ATP, cancer cells are wasteful.
Cancer cells only partially break down sugar molecules. They overuse the first step of respiration, glycolysis. They frequently do not complete the second step, oxidative phosphorylation.
This results in only 2 molecules of ATP per each glucose molecule instead of the 36 or so ATPs healthy cells gain. As a result, cancer cells need to use a lot more sugar molecules to get enough energy to survive.

introduction to WARBERG PHENOMENA:
WARBURG EFFECT Usually, cancer cells are highly glycolytic (glucose addiction) and take up more glucose than do normal cells from outside.
Otto Heinrich Warburg (; 8 October 1883 – 1 August 1970) In 1931 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology for his "discovery of the nature and mode of action of the respiratory enzyme.
WARNBURG EFFECT : cancer cells under aerobic (well-oxygenated) conditions to metabolize glucose to lactate (aerobic glycolysis) is known as the Warburg effect. Warburg made the observation that tumor slices consume glucose and secrete lactate at a higher rate than normal tissues.
The increased availability of biomedical data, particularly in the public domain, offers the opportunity to better understand human health and to develop effective therapeutics for a wide range of unmet medical needs. However, data scientists remain stymied by the fact that data remain hard to find and to productively reuse because data and their metadata i) are wholly inaccessible, ii) are in non-standard or incompatible representations, iii) do not conform to community standards, and iv) have unclear or highly restricted terms and conditions that preclude legitimate reuse. These limitations require a rethink on data can be made machine and AI-ready - the key motivation behind the FAIR Guiding Principles. Concurrently, while recent efforts have explored the use of deep learning to fuse disparate data into predictive models for a wide range of biomedical applications, these models often fail even when the correct answer is already known, and fail to explain individual predictions in terms that data scientists can appreciate. These limitations suggest that new methods to produce practical artificial intelligence are still needed.
In this talk, I will discuss our work in (1) building an integrative knowledge infrastructure to prepare FAIR and "AI-ready" data and services along with (2) neurosymbolic AI methods to improve the quality of predictions and to generate plausible explanations. Attention is given to standards, platforms, and methods to wrangle knowledge into simple, but effective semantic and latent representations, and to make these available into standards-compliant and discoverable interfaces that can be used in model building, validation, and explanation. Our work, and those of others in the field, creates a baseline for building trustworthy and easy to deploy AI models in biomedicine.

Pregnant with "moderately" to "lately"
According to the World Health Organization
(WHO) 2012 global action report, preterm
births are on the rise in most countries and are
the second most common cause of death for
children under the age of five, behind
pneumonia. Preterm infants are a leading
source of neonatal disease and mortality due to
their physical and functional immaturity,
making them a substantial challenge for those
involved in maternal and perinatal care across
the globe.
20% to 30% of Extremely Low Weight Preterms
exhibit motor function and neurosensory
impairments in the first year of life The most
typical problem at this age is a delay in cognitive
development.
In the first year of life, it is critical to monitor
the language development of preterm babies
because they are more likely to show delays in
pre-linguistic markers like the recognition of
objects and pictures, obedience to verbal
commands, and performing simple actions by
12 months of corrected age; they will also have
a smaller vocabulary and a lower ability to
express their thoughts in sentences. According
to a recent research, language difficulties and
developmental delays may persist until the age
of six or seven. Premature development of a
newborn is influenced to some degree by the
time of birth. Most babies born between the
24th and 35th week of pregnancy have greater
developmental difficulties than those born
later. The development of certain preterm
neonates may be years behind their full-term
counterparts by the time they are two years
old.
NEEDFORSTUDY
A growing number of babies are being born
prematurely (before 37 weeks of pregnancy),
with an estimated 15 million being born each
year. Premature births kill an estimated 1.1
million infants each year. Prematurity is the
leading cause of newborn death (babies in the
first four weeks of life)
There are 184 countries where anything from
5% to 18% of babies are delivered preterm.
There are 14 preterm births per day, according
to the statistics.
Premature birth is the second leading cause of
death among children under the age of five,
according to the first estimates of preterm birth
survivors ever made at the national, regional,
and global levels.
Every year, more than a million children lose
their lives as a result of complications during
pregnancy or childbirth. It is normal for
survivors to have disabilities such as learning
issues and visual and hearing impairments..
2.OBJECTIVEOFTHE STUDY
Mothers of preterm babies will be assessed on
their knowledge of their preemies' physical and
neurological development.
Whether preterm mothers' knowledge of their
children's neurological and physical growth and
development has increased as a result of being
exposed to a structured training programme
Identifying whether or whether the pre-test
knowledge score of pre-term baby women is
linked to the neurological and physical growth
and development of the children.
1.HYPOTHESES:
2.Neurological and physical growth and
development of preterm infants will not vary
significantly between their mothers and their
non-pregnant counterparts.

3.Before and after tests on preterm newborn
babies' neurological and physical development,
there will be a significant difference.
4.Neurodevelopment and demographic
variables will be strongly linked among mothers
of preterm babies, according to RH2 findings.
5.ASSUMPTION
If a formal training programme is not
implemented, preterm mothers may be left in
the dark about their preterm children's
neurological and physical growth and
development..
6.METHODOLOGY:
A pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-
test research design was utilised in the study.
Convenient sampling was utilised to choose 30
mothers with preterm infants, without any
probability. Nirogdham Hospital and Research
Center in Aklera, Akron, was the site of the
inquiry. The investigator acquired data before
to and throughout the structure teaching
programme by analysing demographic factors
and conducting a self-structured knowledge
evaluation. Immediately after completing the
pre-test, the post-test was administered.
Descriptive and inferential statistics were
employed by statisticians in their investigations.

Correlation between age and test scores is seen in Table 3.1. Found to have a Chi-Square test probability
of 5.85, a minor valve with p=0.05, two-tailed significance. As a consequence, it has been shown that
there is little link between age and test outcomes. It has been shown that age has no influence on the
present situation.

Test results and living space are shown in Table 3.2. For four degrees of freedom, no statistical
significance was found in the chi-squared test, which had a p-value (two-tailed) of 0.72. Living space and
test outcomes seem to have a high correlation..

Table 3.3 demonstrates the link between age and test scores. We utilised the Chi-Square test with six
degrees of freedom and a probability value of 4.61 to exclude the possibility of a statistically
insignificant valve. Students' educational backgrounds seem to have little impact on their test scores. A
person's educational background does not suffer as a result of this disease.

Table 3.4 indicates a correlation between age
and test results. The Chi-Square test yields a
probability value of 4.72, which indicates the
kind of family and the test findings for two
degrees of freedom. Furthermore, it is shown
that the present problem has no effect on the
age of families.

10.CONCLUSION
As a result, we may conclude that hypothesis
RH1 has been accepted, which indicates that
there would be a substantial difference
between the pre- and post-test knowledge
scores (P0.05).
There may be a benefit to prenatal education
programmes for pregnant mothers when there
is a need for missing, bridging and changing
information about preterm children's
neurological and physical development...
