Science Fair Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Science Fair" can be quite challenging, requiring a blend of
research, creativity, and effective communication skills. The difficulty lies not only in presenting
scientific concepts in a clear and concise manner but also in engaging the reader and conveying
the excitement and significance of the scientific exploration.
To begin with, the writer needs to delve into the intricacies of the chosen scientific topic,
understanding the underlying principles and findings. This demands a substantial amount of
research to ensure the content is accurate, up-to-date, and reflects the latest developments in the
field. As science is constantly evolving, staying current with the latest research findings is a
significant task in itself.
The challenge is not merely presenting dry facts and figures but weaving a compelling narrative
that captures the essence of the scientific journey. The essay must strike a balance between
technicality and accessibility, catering to both experts and those with a general interest in
science. This requires a skillful use of language to convey complex ideas in an understandable
manner, avoiding jargon overload that might alienate the reader.
Moreover, crafting an engaging introduction and conclusion adds an extra layer of complexity.
The introduction should captivate the reader's attention, providing a glimpse of the scientific
intrigue that lies ahead. The conclusion, on the other hand, should leave a lasting impression,
summarizing key points while instilling a sense of wonder or importance regarding the scientific
topic.
In essence, writing a science fair essay demands a harmonious blend of scientific rigor and
literary finesse. It requires the writer to wear the hats of both a researcher and a storyteller,
making the essay an intellectually stimulating yet accessible read. The difficulty lies not only in
the technicalities of the subject matter but also in the art of presenting science in a way that
resonates with a diverse audience.
For those who find themselves grappling with the intricacies of such an essay, assistance is
available. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where

Discussing the Stability of the Weimar Republic Essay...
Discussing the Stability of the Weimar Republic
When the First World War ended in 1918, Germany was left with many problems to
resolve. She was blamed for the war and was a country in much distress. From the
years between 1918 and 1928 Germany faced many problems, before beginning to
find her feet again.
After the system of the Kaiser had been got rid of, Germany had to decide on a new
constitution. It was decided that all Germans had equal rights, and that all parties had
a chance because of Proportional Representation which meant political parties were
allocated seats in Parliament in proportion to the number of votes they got. A strong
president was necessary because Article 48 said that ... Show more content on

The Germans responded to the invasion by passive resistance, this lead to hyper
inflation. Hyper inflation meant that the government kept printing more money in
order to pay the workers for the passive resistance. This soon got out of hand and
money soon be came incredibly worthless. This made Weimar Republicunstable as
their money was worthless, the public were loosing money and things were spinning
out of control.
So in 1923, Gustav Stresemann, the chancellor, decided that Germany would give
into France. He ended the policy of passive resistance in the Ruhr. To some German
parties this was seen as weak, but it was actually a very sensible move, as now the
worthless money could be burnt and the temporary currency, the Rentenmark could
be bought in to help get the country back on it s feet, which in turn would help
stabilise Germany again.
The German government then agreed to start paying reparations again. And in 1924
The Dawes Plan made a huge loan of 800 million marks available to Germany. This
also helped stabilise Germany, as they were now paying reparations again and
sticking to the Treaty of Versailles.
Then in 1925 Germany signed the Locarno Treaty which guaranteed Germany s
frontiers with France and Belgium, and in 1926, as a result of her co operation over
Locarno, Germany was allowed into the League

The Extent to Which the Principle of Sustainability Guides Land Use Policy
Development
The idea of developing in such a way that the present can meet their needs without
future generations needs being compromised is not a new one. It has been practiced
and continues to be practiced by many groups of people across the world. For
example, this principle is embedded in Aboriginal beliefs that they come from the
land, and must return to the land and so must be custodians to the land. The
Brundtland Commission, chaired by the Norwegian prime minister, brought the
concept to the foreground where the famous definition of sustainability was given.

Limits to Growth [2] is a book that tried to explain how economic expansion must
soon come to an end , because of environmental limits. Our Common Future , the
sequel to this book, starts from essentially similar understandings of the nature of the
economy environment interconnections, but draws the conclusion that growth can
and should continue, however, this growth would take a different form from past
growth, and should be sustainable.
By the start of the 1990s about three quarters of councils in England, Scotland and
Wales already had a green plan of some kind in effect or in preparation, some
explicitly recognising the need to extend to global issues such as global warming as
well as local matters. What was new in the 1990s was the degree to which central
government began to give formal support to sustainable development, and to land use
planning as a means of achieving it, in some cases producing the relevant policies and
legislation in response to international commitments. Sustainability is now one of the
UK governments key objectives. A commitment to national sustainability plans was a
key component of the UNCED agreements in 1992,

In reacent history, corporate crises have received high media attention and
demonstrated the impact that a disaster can have on a company s reputation. This

Carnival operates a combined fleet of over 100 ships, and additionally, the company
has 10 ships on order for delivery by 2016.
Carnival Corporation has four operating groups in charge of their own geographical
areas. Carnival Corporation controls all operations in North America, Costa
Crociere is in charge of the operation in Europe, other than U.K. which is operated
by Carnival UK, and Carnival Australia is in charge of Australia and South Pacific.
These individual divisions reported to the executive management of Carnival
Corporation plc, led by Chief Executive Officer Micky Arison. Carnival attributed its
success to its ability to manage brand autonomy, with each major cruise line
maintaining separate sales, marketing, and reservation offices, as well as through the
industry s most aggressive shipbuilding program. (Carnival Mission and History, n.d.)
Based on passenger volume, Carnival was the most popular cruise company, with an
estimated 51.6% of worldwide cruising revenue in 2011. (Market Share Statistics,
2012)
As a chairman and CEO, Micky Arison played an important role in the public profile
of the company in the past. This is a reason why the public expected him to take the
helm of the crisis communication after the sinking of one of his ships.

Walt Disney s Influence On The Entertainment Industry
Somehow I can t believe there are any heights that can t be scaled by a man who
knows the secret of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can
be summarized in four C s. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy
and the greatest of these is Confidence. When you believe a thing, believe it all the
way, implicitly and unquestionably. The man behind this genius statement is the one
and only Walt Disney. From rags to riches, Disney made strides in the entertainment
world that reshaped America s entertainment industry, as we know it today. From
cartoon strips to Disneyland, Walt Disney s contributions to the theatre world were
monumental and established him as one of the greatest entertainers in the... Show

When told he was too young to join the army, Walt joined the Red Cross and drove
ambulances in France.
After Walt Disney served his time in France, he came back to America and
launched his cartoon making career. In Kansas City, Disney started of working at
the Pesmen Rubin Art Studio, a job that his brother Rob got him, there; Disney
met Ubbe Eert Iwwerks known as Ub Iwerks a cartoonist who helped Disney
launch his artistic career. When Disney and Ub Iwerks joined the Kansas City
Film Ad Company, Disney s focus shifted from newspaper ads to commercials
based on cutout animation. During Disney s time at the company, he became
acquainted with cameras and hand drawn cell animations. His experience at the
Film Ad Company prompted Disney to create his own ad company with Iwerks.
Their first employee was Fred Harman, a cartoonist who was famous for his work
Red Ryder , a comic strip based of the Wild West (Reynolds 90). Disney s cartoons,
named Laugh O Grams , were a huge success. Disney was able to sign a deal with
local Kansas City theaters to show their cartoons and as a result of the cartoons
popularity, Disney was able to obtain his own studio, which was named after his
cartoons. The Laugh O Grams studio acquired many other employees and it was in
this studio that Walt Disney created, Alice in Cartoonland , a series of fairy tales that
combined live action and animation. However, the good times lasted only for a

Vacation In Myrtle Beach Essay examples
Last summer my friends and I packed up and took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina. The excitement of the strip and the relaxation of the beach allured me to
this particular vacation spot. If you are looking for an entertaining and relaxing way
to spend the hot days of summer, Myrtle Beach has plenty to offer.
Myrtle Beach stretches up the coast of South Carolina and North Carolina. The drive
takes approximately six hours from East Tennessee State University. Our trip during
the summer made for a great vacation, the temperature stayed between the 80 s and

Myrtle Beach has many hotels and resorts to chose from. Most of them sit either
right on the beach or across the street. The rates usually run weekly from Sunday to
Saturday. A week s stay always gives me enough time to do and see all I want. The
inexpensive hotels, as stated earlier, can be found on the strip. These hotels normally
run about $180 a week for a room with two double beds. The resort areas, however,
cost around $400 a week depending on where you stay. I recommend the place that
I stayed when I was a child, the Breakers Resort. The Resort includes an oceanfront
view, two pools, a hot tub, poolside bar and restaurant. Wherever you decide to stay
you are sure to enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of Myrtle Beach.
Restaurants in Myrtle Beach appear almost as plentiful as the hotels. Where you
eat may depend on how much money you want to spend. My friends and I, as
typical college students, did not have much money to spend. So we ate at the local
fast food restaurants, such as, Burger King, Taco Bell and McDonalds, for the
majority of the trip. We found, however, that the River City CafГ© had good food
for a great price. If you would like to eat a more cordial dinner, the Calabash Seafood
restaurant has sensational seafood entrГ©e s.
With all the hotels nestled along the coast, the most obvious attraction is the beach
itself. The beautiful water and clean beach makes for a

The object of wooing a lover is there but it is hard to find the time to. Between
going to school, having a job, and extra circular activities there is not a lot of free
time to get to woo a person has someone who want. Vanderkam continues to state
how hookups are not only destroying the intellectual part of college youth but the
artistic/literary part as well. In her statement No great art will be inspired by the
muse of Milwaukee s Best or a tryst that both parties are trying to forget. I assume
she trying to say that the only fixation college students will be able to use as
inspiration or insight for writing or doing anything creative is hookups, which is
definitely not the fact. A college students mind is constantly finding things to use as
inspiration. From organizing a dorm room to planning a major event, there is no way
that a college students only main source for inspiration is from hooking up with a
random stranger.
Even though Laura Vanderkam brings up excellent points that college students all
cross America should take into consideration but she should look more into the
subjects before she makes another essay. Vanderkams whole idea that hookups are
causing children of the future to have a lack of luster for asking the larger question
is impractical. It is in our human nature to always be asking why and searching for
that final answer if it actually existed and I
US-MEXICAN WAR Essay
The U.S. Mexican War was a violent and shattering event for Mexican citizens that
lasted from 1846 1848 in what is now the state of Texas. It drastically altered the
course of Mexican and American history for years to come. It occurred because of
the unsettled disputes about the borders of newly annexed Texas. Once the debilitating
battle ended, the United Statesemerged a world power having acquired more than
500,000 square miles of valuable territory. There are many potentially feasible
explanations on the cause of the war; including, fault laying with American
slaveholders for conquest of Mexico, the war as an American plot and responsibility
lying with President Polk of the United States. However, this paper focuses on the

The U.S. soon saw themselves masters of Louisiana, [ready to] spread their snares
at once for the rest of the Floridas, and the province of Texas. Mexico did not know
how to handle this migration from the U.S. as its citizens were still in the midst of
the Mexican Revolution. It was the insatiable ambition of the United States,
favored by [Mexican] weakness that was the principle cause of the U.S. Mexican
War. However, soon after the Mexican Republic was formed, it was realized that
the U.S. expansion into Mexico could become a real danger. Mexico had just
attained its freedom from Spain in the 1820s and as such, did not want to fall into
another malevolent trap with the U.S., leaving its citizens unsure on how to
proceed without starting a war. This is in part because not all migration was
unsolicited before the annexation of Texas. After Mexico declared its independence
from Spain it needed more settlers to populate the areas of Mexico without many
citizens living in its regions. Thus, in order to ease tensions between the countries a
proposal was created that involved U.S. citizens living in Texas to become citizens
of Mexico and pledge allegiance to the Mexican nation. They would become
Catholics and obey the laws of their new nation. However, what was decided on paper
and what the settlers actually did were inconsistent with each other. The settlers were
unhappy with the rules of their new government,
St. Lucy s Home For Girls Raised By Wolves Analysis
The story of St. Lucy s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves by Karen Russell,
demonstrates several types of individuals which a society holds. For instance,
there is the independent type of character, they are the ones who do not like to go
with the flow. In the story, it was portrayed by one of the main characters named
Mirabella, the youngest among fifteen girls. Another, are those types that go along
with the norms, they are the individuals who generally do what the society
approves of, and no qualms associating with others. It was exemplified by another
main character, Jeanette, the girl who easily adopted the human ways. Lastly, those
who lies in the middle, these are the types of people whose eyes are open and could
understand how to read the map and navigate the ship , which was put into character
by the girl named Claudette, who s the narrator as well. The portrayal of social
classes propelled me to choose this story, which led me to analyze and restate for
better understanding of the underlying messages which the author wants to relay to
its readers. Though it has a bit of fantasy incorporated in the story by adapting the
characters of werewolves, it even highlighted its purpose to explain the author s ideas.
For that, I inferred that the main argumentwhich the author wants to share is that
even a maverick in an extreme condition can be subject to conformity, given the
chance for rehabilitation or training to become adapted to the norms behaviors.

Wernher Von Braun Accomplishments
Wernher Von Braun was born in March 23, 1912 in Wirsitz, Prussia, Germany.
Today, he is known as the aerospace engineer behind many of NASA s rocket
designs, including, most notably, the Saturn V rockets that took astronauts to the
Moon. However, as a child, his interests varied and he had changing career
ambitions. Though he was always interested in astronomy and rocketry, he did not
perform well in his math and science classes. However, after acquiring an aerospace
engineering and astronomy book, he began to take his studies more seriously.
Initially, Von Braun designed military rockets for the Nazi s, the most infamous of
which was the V 2 rocket. While there is some uncertainty as to whether or not he

He and his colleagues got academics, civilian engineers, and military engineers up
to speed on how to design rockets and guidance systems. They also performed tests
on V 2 rockets that the US military captured during the war. Von Braun led the effort
in making making the Redstone rocket, which was utilized as a missile platform for
the US military s first ballistic nuclear missile. Later, he modified his initial Redstone
rocket design to make the Jupiter C rocket, which propelled the United States
Explorer 1 satellite to space. During this time, he created very detailed plans for
different space missions. Specifically, he designed a mission to put a space station
that generated artificial gravity into orbit that would serve a platform for astronauts
to then be sent to the Moon. He also had detailed plans on making a lunar base
where astronauts could use the base as another launch point to other places in the
solar system and to perform scientific experiments on the Moon s low gravity
environment. He even had plans to send astronauts to Mars using his space station as
a launchpad, which was something that no one at the time was talking about or even
considering. In fact, he was the first person to perform a detailed analysis of traveling
to Mars. Although he had designed these missions with great detail and accounting
for much of the logistics of these missions, the US military was not interested in them
since they did not believe it was necessary to focus on such things at that time.
However, when the Russians sent the Sputnik satellite into space, the United States
created NASA in 1958 in order to compete with the Russians with the aim of beating
them in the space race. When the Marshall Space Flight Center was opened, Wernher
Von Braunbecame the director of the facility. There he further worked on different
rocket designs which included the Saturn V rocket. The Saturn V

Target Market
When Panera Bread first opened, it s target market was urban workers and
suburban dwellers looking quick service but in an environment, that was nicer that

Product Segmentation
Panera Bread segments its products into several different categories. These
categories are based according to the type of food and are grouped into menu
categories.

It was once stated, Work out your own salvation. Do not depend on others. In other
words, take care of your own life. Forbear from seeking aid. Many people have
immigrated to the United States in search of the American Dream by themselves,
pursuing a place to call home, a stable job, and a happy life. In Letters from an

Europeans that America is unequivocally the land of opportunity worth moving to by
causing them to feel empathy and by having them procure the logical conclusion on
their own. Employing the use of metaphors, the French aristocrat aims to draw out
empathetic feelings from the audience. For example, he writes, In Europe, [the poor]

Questions On The Free Will
The Free Will Problem presents three different theses that, upon first glance, seem
both intuitive and reasonable as long as they are considered independently. It is not
possible to entertain all three theses together while maintaining any level of
consistency. The problem, therefore, is in determining which of the three theses to
discard. The first thesis is the Free WillThesis, which simply states that agents
sometimes act freely. This thesis seems to be reasonable for at least two reasons.
The first reason is that, more often than not, we feel as though we are free; that is
we feel as though we make a choice based on what we want, whether it be after
careful consideration or merely on a whim. The very idea that we feel as though we...

The second thesis in the Free Will problem is the Causal Determinism Thesis, which
states that every event is causally determined to occur by another event; every
event has a cause. This thesis seems reasonable because it coincides with the way
in which we view the world, that being scientifically. Whenever an event occurs we
naturally think that something caused that event. Imagine a cup of water falling
over on a desk. It goes against our common sense to say that nothing caused the cup
of water to fall over, it just did. We may not always know what the cause is but we
do seem to think that a cause is necessary for the event to have happened and so far
science seems to support this conclusion.
The third thesis in the Free Will Problem is Incompatibilism Thesis, which states
that the Free Will Thesis and the Causal Determinism Thesis are incompatible with
one another; in other words, they are mutually exclusive. This thesis seems
reasonable due to the following: if we define free will as acting without a cause or
not being caused to act, and the Free Will Thesis says agents sometime act freely,
then anytime we, as agents, act freely, an event occurs that does not have a cause.
This is a direct violation of the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every
event must have a cause.
All three theses seem intuitively plausible but it is impossible to hold all three theses
together consistently. Choosing
Corporate Governance RBS Essay
The Royal Bank of Scotland Case
Nicole Kraemer (413991)
The rise and fall of the Royal Bank of Scotland is characterized by poor corporate
governance which allowed for the complete dominance of the executive management
over the board of directors and a massive principal agent problem. Positive social
dynamics and the power of weak ties allowed for compliance while intimidation and
bullying tactics silenced questions, concerns and opposition. The board s utter

Talks about the legality of the merger delayed the sale of ABN, during which the
housing market situation worsened and analysts warned that the crisis was spreading
up investment chain. During this time, Goodwin admitted that RBS is involved in
subprime mortgage trading but only minimally17.
Here we see a failure of the board to look at management critically. They accepted
only the information presented to them by the CEO and did not demand a better
picture on the state of RBS s business in mortgage trading even while the CEO s story
seemed to constantly be changing. The board exists as a watchdog to the executive

time failing to conduct a due diligence assessment of ABN s assets and in October

There are 5 known subtypes of Ebola. The infection is transmitted by direct contact

The virus also inhibits interferon which is a molecule that cells make use of to further
retard viral reproduction.
The exact process what happens next is not fully known but the virus attacks the
connective tissue and reproduces at an extremely fast rate in the collagen, digesting
the tissue as it goes. The virus can ultimately cause viral hemorrhagic fever. When the
macrophages in our body register the virus and consume it, they end up becoming
infected and are manipulated to release proteins that trigger coagulation create

Research Paper On The Storming Of The Bastille
What was the Storming of the Bastille?
The Bastille was a medieval fortress located in the east of Paris. It was built in the
14th century to guard the entrance to Paris. It had eight towers linked with walls, all
100 feet high. A moat that was more than eighty feet wide surrounded the fortress.
During the 17th and 18th century, the Bastille was used as a prison for those who
were thought to doubt the government and its power. The Storming of Bastille took
place on July 14, 1789. A large mob of Parisians, mainly consisting of craftsmen and
salesmen, marched to the tower in search of weapons and prisoners. The crowd,
however, did not impress the few guards on duty at that time. Some representatives
of the mob were allowed to be let into the prison; the plan was to diminish some of
their anger and waste time while the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when the rescue team arrived, they joined the mob instead of defending
the fortress from it. The guards soon gave up, letting the mob into the castle. The
people of the mob killed the guards, allowing them to free the prisoners and steal the
weapons held in the Bastille. There were not many prisoners being held during the
Storming of Bastille; only seven were freed. On the night of the storming, 800 men
began to destroy the castle. This was the first violent act of the French Revolution
that would key many more acts of violence during this time. The Storming of Bastille
signaled the beginning of the French Revolution, as well as the downfall of King
Louis the sixteenth and Marie Antoinette . Two days after the storming, the National
Assembly ordered the remains of the building to be burned. The people cheered as
the prison walls crumbled. In France, July 14th is now known as a national holiday.
Bastille Day honors this crucial event in French history, the holiday commemorates an
Angela Carter’s The Bood Chamber Essay
In Angela Carter s The Bloody Chamber, the theme of transformation appears
throughout the short story cycle. The hero/heroine s virginity acts as a source of
strength that protects them from harm. Their lack of fear also saves them from
death. Virginity acts as power of potentia, either literally or symbolically and results
in a release of an observed transformative power. The bloody chamberserves a

Gender Inequality In The Media
Anderson Cooper. Don Lemon. Jake Tapper. Matt Lauer. These faces flash across
our television screens, constantly crop up in our daily conversations, and dominate
the news and media. But wait, there s something missing from the list of names
above a group constituting nearly 51% of our population women( Women s Health
USA 2012. ). Scarce are mentions of successful female journalists. Scarce are
women confidently voicing their political opinions on reputable news channels.
Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed
by most in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn t hit me until
recently that women were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly
valid to question the relevancy of such an obscure issue, but obscurity does not
equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the media defies not only
our principles, but also the nation s principles. How can we claim that we are a
nation of equal opportunity if we don t practice what we preach? We must encourage
women to increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media,
especially in covering the most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of
women in media encourages disparity between the sexes.
The problem of gender inequality in media has two main aspects the shunning of
women into petty, less important aspects of news and a clear lack of women in
leadership in media. According to a report on the
Essay About Pegasus
Pegasus is the winged horse of Greek mythology. The horse is usually white in
color, beautiful and is the symbol of strength, inspiration and flight. It was born
from the blood of Medusa (a lovely young maiden), when she was slain by Perseus
with his magical sword. The God of earth, Poseidon was Pegasus father.
Poseidon became infatuated with Medusa, he seduced her into the temple of Athena
(goddess of wisdom). Because of this, Athena became infuriated and took her anger
out on Medusa. She was so angry that she turned the maiden into a Gorgon, a
terrifying female creature with hairs of venomous snakes and whose glance will turn
a person to stone.

him into a constellation on the last day where we can still see him today.

Fishing In Nova Scotia Research Paper
Fishing in Nova Scotia was and is how a vast majority of families earned their
income. Boats were and can be passed down through families, and how most people
were brought into fishing, was from helping their fathers as a summer job with very
little pay which led to them fishing on their own. Fishing was good (back then) there
was a lot of fisharound but because of overfishing the stocks declined. Fishermen
fished for in the area are pollock, haddock, cod fish, herring, halibut and lobster.
At one time there was a lot of pollock around and according to https:/

pollock were caught by gillnets, which are nets that are set on the ocean floor and
were hauled daily. Today, there is not a high market for them because they are not
as popular in nova scotia. One reason they are not fished as much today is because
the quota is so small for codfish and when people are fishing for pollock you get
codfish in the nets which you have to through back and most of the fish are already
dead. Pollock can grow to 105 centimetres (3.44 ft) and can weigh up to 21 kilograms

Stan Brakhage s Cat s Cradle took me on a ride of ecstasy that I can never forget I

This film has no clear throughline narrative, but beautifully illustrates a dreamlike

Editing plays a large role in Cat s Cradle and is the large reason that to write about
this film it has to be viewed more than once. Brakhage and his editors use quick
cutting to create a sequence similar to a montage. This type of editing kept me on
the edge of seat, I was always waiting for more information or different shots to
appear. The downside to this erratic type of editing is that it leaves little room for a
concrete narrative to be pulled; then leaving audience interpretation to be the
driving force of the film s critical analyses. Walter Murch, the editor of Sam Mendes
Jarhead, once told Lawrence Weschler in his essay Valkyries over Iraq that he
believes the largest problem with film as a narrative medium is that it s literal, in
that what you see is what was literally there, and yet we as filmmakers in processing
the narrative have to create a spaciousness, a sketchy ambiguity, that allows the
audience themselves to piece it all together and make it powerfully their own.
Brakhage takes that sketchy ambiguity and throws it out the window, leaving all
ambiguity and nothing literal. Thus the film can be easily categorized as
experimental; Brakhage is heavily
Designing A Mousetrap Powered Device
The purpose of this project is to design and construct a mousetrap powered device
that could move a hacky sack along a rectangular track 2 meters wide x 15 meter
long. The device must not be powered by any outside source. It must be a product of
creative and innovative solution with the application of the fundamentals of
engineering. The device must also incorporate the five solution criteria; novel
solution (device must be surprising), effective solution (hacky sack should travel at
least 15 meters), elegant solution (device should be simple and understandable),
germinal solution (opens up new ideas) and lastly the creativity of the device. This
project also aims to help develop the capabilities of each student as a team member
in a group work activity.
2Creativity in Design
The team started the process by doing individual research and drawing a design plan
for the most ideal device to build. We started brainstorming and suggested several
ideas of devices, such as, a three wheel and a four wheel car, a catapult device and a
flying mousetrap device. Afterwards we have come up with several factors to
consider in choosing which device to build. These are as follows;
It is simple and easy to build
Must have enough force to carry the hacky sack for more than 15 meters
The materials needed are cheap and easy to find
The device must be aesthetically pleasing but must remain to provide sufficient
functionality
Most of all, must incorporate the five solution criteria

Introduction
Organizational psychology is the study of a formal organization and how individuals
and groups act within that organization; in other words, the scientific study of the
workplace. The goal of organizational psychology is to help organizations function the
best way possible. This is achieved by helping people understand their interactions
with each other and create an environment where everyone can work together to
accomplish important goals. When an organization is successful, the employees have
better job satisfaction. In turn, this creates better productivity which allows products

The organizational side of I/O psychology focuses on making the most of
organizational performance. This focuses on interpersonal relationships at work, how
individual differences affect an organization, leadership, motivation, team and group
dynamics, and organizational change and development. In addition, the organization
side concentrates on job satisfaction, attitudes, and dealing with job stress such as
balancing work and family (McCarthy, 1999).
The Use of Research Research methods are used in I/O psychology to answer
question about why employees behave the way they do. Analyses of behavior in
qualitative studies involve discussions of how people experience and feel events in
their lives and can be a good means of generating hypotheses and theories of what
happens in organizational settings (Ehigie, 2005, p. 621). Qualitative methods of
research are used by I/O psychologist in organizational studies. I/O psychological may
use methods such as test, questionnaires, rating scales, observation, ethnography and
physiological measures to answer questions about behavior (Ehigie, 2005)
Observation is a research method used in I/O psychology to understand employee s

INTRODUCTION
Exercise can be explained as an ordered and customary activity which is performed
to improve the performance of the athletes. Exercises are being categorized into
various classes depending upon the requirements of the athletes performance. Two
very common type of exercises used by atheletes are core stability and plyometric
exercises which are being utilized in order to improve an athletes performance. (1)
The core has been explained by few researchers as a cylinder with double walls,
front being the abdominals, roof formed by the diaphragm, bottom being formed by
the hip and pelvic floor muscles and back being the gluteals and the paraspinals. (2)

Fear Vs The Black Death
Fear is to be afraid of something or someone dangerous or threatening. Fear can in
turn bring out the worst in people. The Black Death did exactly this, in a way it
instilled fear in those affected and even those it didn t affect directly. This is evident
through religious persecution, disrespect of burial traditions, and the breakdown of
families. Even though the Black Deathhappened in the 14th centurywe see similarities
in the reaction people have when deadly outbreaks occur in the 21st century. At the
same time advances in everything from medicine to disease control have helped us
to somewhat cope with the fear that comes with deadly outbreaks as well. Those
advances show the differences between today and those in the 14th century, but
whether it be now or in history the worst can always be brought out of people.
Back to 14th Century Europe when things became dark and the church was trying
to regain control. At the time where the plague came into play so did religious
persecution, which brought the worst out in people. Because someone or
something had to be blamed for all the death and the destruction that came with the
plague. For example, many people unfairly treated Jewish people, and often
viewed them as scapegoats. King Pedro IV of Aragon stated, And they foolishly
killed many Jews of the aljame, and they cruelly beat and even wounded some
others . (King Pedro IV, doc.#35,142). Many people held debts to the Jews and this
helped fuel peoples hate towards the Jews
The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites
The attraction of composites primarily stems from their ability to replace standard
lightweight/high strength metals or wood with an even lightweight/higher strength
alternatively. Additionally, composites offer new design flexibilities, improved
corrosion and wear resistance, low thermal conductivity and increase fatigue life.
Advantages of using composite material are:
пЃ¶Composites can provide a specific modulus (ratio of material stiffness to density)
that is three and half to five times greater than steel or aluminum.
пЃ¶The fatigue endurance limit is much higher than for steel or aluminum.
пЃ¶Composites can provide a specific tensile strength (ratio of material stiffness to
density) that is approximately four to six times greater than steel or aluminum.
пЃ¶Toughened composites can give impact energies significantly higher than
aluminum alloys.
пЃ¶The potential for corrosion is significantly reduced.
пЃ¶Design flexibility is greater and can allow for physical property directionality in
parts where desired.
As composites bring a lot of advantages, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Building A Building Envelope Design Is Important At...
As time moves forward, the design for better and more sophisticated envelope
buildings will continue to be important at all the levels of construction. Basically a
building envelope is the separation between the interior and the exterior environment
with the inclusion of air, light, heat, water and noise transfer resistances. The building
envelopeacts as a thermal barrier, because it regulates the temperature of the inside,
while the outside temperature can be different. Having a great envelope design can
provide more effective results on any type of climate. This is one of the reasons on
why building managers are focusing more in having a great envelope design,
especially now that every company wants to reduce energy costs and be more energy
friendly.
Basic Components The basic components of an envelope are floors, roofs,
fenestrations (windows, skylights, clerestories, etc), doors, walls and more. The
biggest function of a successful envelope design is to see how the heat is been
transferred between the outside and the inside. Minimizing heat transferring can be
very important because it can help reduce the amount of need of the space cooling
and heating. That is why understanding how heat is been transferred and the types
of insulations that can be used in walls can decrease energy costs at a larger scale.
Engineers and architects have created new ways to improve the way a building is
designed to have great heat efficiency and maximize the light from the sun. As a

better life and for more opportunities. Not all places can provide what people want or

increased amount of immigrants, including Canada which provides: universal

Going into unfamiliar lands, often not even knowing the language is very stressful
on the mind. With no one to guide you, no one to talk to, and no one to share your
thoughts with it will most definitely cause loneliness. This loneliness will discourage
the immigrant from even putting all their effort in striving in this new life. This is all
part of what an emotional barrier is. Before even leaving their country, a person will
most definitely think about their family. If they know they cannot bring the people
they care about most, it will reduce your willingness to move. Not only is loneliness
the only part of the emotional barrier, frustration is also included. The whole
migration/immigration process is hard. Having your whole fate in your government s
hands, knowing they could deny or stop you from migrating at any moment. That
itself could cause anyone emotional stress. People become extremely attached to
those closest to them and even their homes. Having to leave all that would make
anyone emotional. Besides the mental challenges people face during migration, they
also have to face the physical

2.2 Microphone Unit
The microphone was implemented to allow the user to transmit speaker s voice as
analog voice signal from the audio socket. The analog voice signal captured by the
microphone is then needed to pass through an amplifier circuit. The amplitude of this
voice signal can be amplified from millivolts to volts so that the signal becomes easier
to for us work with in following implementations. As figure 2 shown, this amplifier
circuit is built by firstly connecting the microphone input through the positive input
terminal of the LM358 chip. Secondly, a feedback loop is built through the output and
negative terminal. Then the analog voice signal captured by the microphone is,
therefore, amplified.
Figure 2: Schematic Of Microphone Unit
The resistance values of R4 and R3 is purposely chosen for an amplifier gain of 5.7.
As shown in Figure 3, a significant amplifying effect of the microphone voice signal
can been seem afer passing through the amplifier.
Figure 3: Waveform Of Voice Signal Before (Blue) And After (Yellow) Amplifier
Based on oscilloscope detection, the peak to peak value of microphone voice
signal before amplifier is 220mV, while the one after the amplifier is 1.28V. The
actual amplifier gain is therefore 5.8 (1.28/0.22), which is very close to the designed
value of 5.7.

Periwinkle is the most active plant and covers most of the forest floor, also is a
medicine to fight tumors and able to treat some Leukemia. Today over one hundred
pharmacies use the braches and plants for medicine. Twenty five percent of cancer
fighting medicines are found in rain forest.
There are also many trees used for medicine too. For example one of the trees such as
the Annatto tree has an oil extract of the tree. The Annatto tree contains carotenoids
bixin, used for protection against UV rays. It also helps to lower blood pressure
and is a powerful bug repellent. The Cocoa tree is one of the few that is very high
in medicinal value, that makes it one of the most important rain forest tree. This
one and only tree produces over one hundred fifty chemicals that can come from its
leaves, seeds, fruit, and bark. It is made to heal or to treat anxiety, laziest, fever,
coughs, kidney stones, and large cuts and bruises. The Trumpet tree is a popular
tree used extensively in traditional medicine in Central and South America. Every

The Corruption Of The Shortcomings Of Korean Americans
In...
When the streets of Los Angeles exploded on April 29, 1992, Korean Americans
found themselves in a crisis of identity. Known to them as Sa i gu, or 4 2 9, the five
day uprising bluntly revealed their cultural separation and its shortcomings. As Los
Angeles fell apart, local Korean business owners found themselves confronting their
prejudice, which had undermined their relationship with black customers. Following
the exposure of these two issues during and after the riots, a mental shift in the
Korean Americancommunity became evident through its response to the event. By
exemplifying the involvement of Korean merchants in interethnic disputes, the Los
Angelesriots prompted the integration of Korean Americans into America s
multicultural society.
Prior to the upheaval in 1992, the economic situation of many Korean immigrants,
including those who were merchants in Los Angeles, influenced their perceived
isolation from other Americans. Although a majority of these Koreanshad a high
education and desired to work as professionals in America, their foreigner status and
limited English prevented them from doing so. Consequently, they resorted to
running small businesses, hoping to eventually achieve mainstream success and
therefore upward mobility. To progress toward this goal, Korean merchants depended
on each other for funding; however, despite the financial advantages that this
networking brought, it simultaneously kept Koreans from engaging with the society
that they
Universities Censorship
Over the centuries Universities have been regulated by several diverse organizations,
the government being the main influence. With the Universities conformity (alliance
or association or collaberation) with the government, this manipulation is pulling
away from what a University is meant to be. When Universities are influenced by
excess amounts of funding this increases the disturbance of how teachers and
scholars are influenced. Moreover, Universities have acquired significant amounts of
funding in respects to assertive departments: medical research, basic science research,
and engineering research. As universities increase enrollment, thus, increasing the
requirements for additional supplies for research projects, and implementing the need

Furthermore, as universities increase student enrollment, the university will require
additional supplies for research projects. This compels administration to seek funding
rather than searching for ways to benefit society. In addition, causing problems
between colleagues and various departments, however, keep in mind when one
department receives funding over another due to Government influences, the smaller
departments are still funded by smaller organizations. Furthermore, the government is
trying exert certain departments to distribute their findings. The rise to
commercialize research has been ongoing since the 1980 s. In 2002 the Association
of Universities and Colleges of Canada, along with the government, assembled a
meeting to discuss commercialization and the major research departments. The three
companies emplaced an alliance stating the Universities will receive double the
funding for research departments, in return tripling the commercialization.
Interestingly, the department faculties were not in attendance for this conference;
whom are considerable contributors to the commercialization of funded project. The
government has already capitalized peoples well being in regards to mental health as
demonstrated by commercialized products. Therefore, anti depressants drugs are
endorsed because they are commercialized. Not addressing that mental health can be
approached in various ways. However, the evidence is rising that such natural
products can
The Worst Recession Of The United States
At the end of the 20th century, it was clear that the United States national economy
was on a incline. The U.S began winning the worldwide arms race, holding 50% of
the world weapons stockpile (Taylor 10). Capitalism, the main trademark of the
United States economy, spread like a wildfire across the majority of the world
(Taylor 10). To the uneducated ear, news like this sounds great; the United Statesis
slowly taking over the world. However, this insane growth was actually poising the
U.S. for an extreme downfall in the coming years of the early 21st century. The
major downfall would come to be known as the worst recession in our history since
the infamous Great Depression. While there are several speculated causes to the
recession of 2007, one cause that stands out is the housing bubble burst. As the
housing bubble burst and trillions of dollars worth of toxic mortgages began to go
bad in 2007, fear spread through the massive firms that form the heart of Wall Street (
Meltdown ) . The first repercussions of the housing bubble bursting were the floating
rumors about the investment bank, Bear Stearns. The rumors of the bank s imminent
bankruptcy were so abundant, that they became a self fulfilling prophecy ( Meltdown
). In an attempt to save the bank, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernankecreated a
deal with JPMorgan ( Meltdown ). This deal stated that the federal government
would use $30 billion to cover Bear Stearns questionable assets tied to toxic
mortgages
A Mathematical Model Of Centripetal Force Essay
Kayla Ward
Formal lab report 1: lab 4

Centripetal Force
Abstract:
The idea of this experiment is to represent a mathematical model of centripetal
force. This is obtained using a rubber stopper and various hanging weights. Using
these items one would attach the weighted rubber stoppers to one end of the
apparatus and a hanging mass on the opposite end. The time and number of rotations
were recorded for various weight scenarios and then used to graph the square of the
orbital period versus the Mass ratio of the swinging to hanging weight. This was done
to show accuracy of the theoretical model in real time. The data obtained from this
experiment is then calculated and plotted on a graph. This information was between a
twenty percent confidence interval due to human error. The results shown below
proved the model to be accurate.
Introduction:
The goal of this experiment was to show the difference in centripetal velocity of the
rubber stopper as the weight changed between the rubber stopper, Msb, and the
circular weight, MH. Centripetal force is the net force pointing from the body
toward a fixed center of curvature. In other words, centripetal force can be defined as
the net force that is central seeking and radial, causing a curved motion to an object.
The objective of this experiment is to study motion, with the concept of centripetal
force of a spinning object on the end of a string. As the string rotates around the
apparatus the string follows the
Euphemism In Boomerang By Lyfe Jennings
The song I ve chosen to interpret was Boomerang by Lyfe Jennings. The
boomerang effect is an euphemism. As we learned in our discussion that it s a
nicer way to say something to someone without being offensive or, coming off as
harsh. The meaning of boomerang is other way of saying what comes around goes
around. What you do to others, will always comeback to you in the long run. Some
refer to it as karma which is also a euphemism. In the song Lyfe Jennings was
basically saying that he didn t understand how being heartbroken felt until it
happened to him. He didn t realize the pain he caused others until someone made him
fell the same way. He than understood how it felt to be in love with someone who
hurts you the most, he knew the pain he
Freedom Of The Press In The First Amendment
It is often easy to forget why we, as Americans, have the freedoms that we do. The
liberties that other countries do not have are liberties that we take for granted. Being
able to write and publish anything was very important to the framers of the
constitution. So important in fact, that is was included in the first amendment. The
framers included freedom of the press in the first amendment because it allowed the
public to be educated on everything that occurs with their government and for citizens
to be influenced by others ideas to form their own opinions. The colonizers had left a
government that hindered their freedoms. They fought the revolutionary war to break
free from the British authority and have the power to make their own

  • 1. Science Fair Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Science Fair" can be quite challenging, requiring a blend of research, creativity, and effective communication skills. The difficulty lies not only in presenting scientific concepts in a clear and concise manner but also in engaging the reader and conveying the excitement and significance of the scientific exploration. To begin with, the writer needs to delve into the intricacies of the chosen scientific topic, understanding the underlying principles and findings. This demands a substantial amount of research to ensure the content is accurate, up-to-date, and reflects the latest developments in the field. The challenge is not merely presenting dry facts and figures but weaving a compelling narrative that captures the essence of the scientific journey. The essay must strike a balance between technicality and accessibility, catering to both experts and those with a general interest in science. This requires a skillful use of language to convey complex ideas in an understandable manner, avoiding jargon overload that might alienate the reader. Moreover, crafting an engaging introduction and conclusion adds an extra layer of complexity. The introduction should captivate the reader's attention, providing a glimpse of the scientific intrigue that lies ahead. She was blamed for the war and was a country in much distress. From the years between 1918 and 1928 Germany faced many problems, before beginning to find her feet again. After the system of the Kaiser had been got rid of, Germany had to decide on a new constitution. It was decided that all Germans had equal rights, and that all parties had a chance because of Proportional Representation which meant political parties were allocated seats in Parliament in proportion to the number of votes they got. Hyper inflation meant that the government kept printing more money in order to pay the workers for the passive resistance. This soon got out of hand and money soon be came incredibly worthless. This made Weimar Republicunstable as their money was worthless, the public were loosing money and things were spinning out of control. So in 1923, Gustav Stresemann, the chancellor, decided that Germany would give into France. He ended the policy of passive resistance in the Ruhr. To some German parties this was seen as weak, but it was actually a very sensible move, as now the worthless money could be burnt and the temporary currency, the Rentenmark could be bought in to help get the country back on it s feet, which in turn would help stabilise Germany again. The German government then agreed to start paying reparations again. And in 1924 The Dawes Plan made a huge loan of 800 million marks available to Germany. This also helped stabilise Germany, as they were now paying reparations again and sticking to the Treaty of Versailles. Then in 1925 Germany signed the Locarno Treaty which guaranteed Germany s frontiers with France and Belgium, and in 1926, as a result of her co operation over Locarno, Germany was allowed into the League

The Extent to Which the Principle of Sustainability Guides Land Use Policy Development The idea of developing in such a way that the present can meet their needs without future generations needs being compromised is not a new one. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four C s. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy and the greatest of these is Confidence. These hotels normally run about $180 a week for a room with two double beds. The resort areas, however, cost around $400 a week depending on where you stay. I recommend the place that I stayed when I was a child, the Breakers Resort. The Resort includes an oceanfront view, two pools, a hot tub, poolside bar and restaurant. It drastically altered the course of Mexican and American history for years to come. It occurred because of the unsettled disputes about the borders of newly annexed Texas. Once the debilitating battle ended, the United Statesemerged a world power having acquired more than 500,000 square miles of valuable territory. It was the insatiable ambition of the United States, favored by [Mexican] weakness that was the principle cause of the U.S. Mexican War. However, soon after the Mexican Republic was formed, it was realized that the U.S. expansion into Mexico could become a real danger. Mexico had just attained its freedom from Spain in the 1820s and as such, did not want to fall into another malevolent trap with the U.S., leaving its citizens unsure on how to proceed without starting a war. This is in part because not all migration was unsolicited before the annexation of Texas. After Mexico declared its independence from Spain it needed more settlers to populate the areas of Mexico without many citizens living in its regions. Thus, in order to ease tensions between the countries a proposal was created that involved U.S. citizens living in Texas to become citizens of Mexico and pledge allegiance to the Mexican nation. They would become Catholics and obey the laws of their new nation. However, what was decided on paper and what the settlers actually did were inconsistent with each other. The settlers were unhappy with the rules of their new government,

For instance, there is the independent type of character, they are the ones who do not like to go with the flow. In the story, it was portrayed by one of the main characters named Mirabella, the youngest among fifteen girls. Another, are those types that go along with the norms, they are the individuals who generally do what the society approves of, and no qualms associating with others. It was exemplified by another main character, Jeanette, the girl who easily adopted the human ways. Lastly, those who lies in the middle, these are the types of people whose eyes are open and could understand how to read the map and navigate the ship , which was put into character by the girl named Claudette, who s the narrator as well. The portrayal of social classes propelled me to choose this story, which led me to analyze and restate for better understanding of the underlying messages which the author wants to relay to its readers. Though it has a bit of fantasy incorporated in the story by adapting the characters of werewolves, it even highlighted its purpose to explain the author s ideas. For that, I inferred that the main argumentwhich the author wants to share is that even a maverick in an extreme condition can be subject to conformity, given the chance for rehabilitation or training to become adapted to the norms behaviors. Meanwhile,

Later, he modified his initial Redstone rocket design to make the Jupiter C rocket, which propelled the United States Explorer 1 satellite to space. During this time, he created very detailed plans for different space missions. Specifically, he designed a mission to put a space station that generated artificial gravity into orbit that would serve a platform for astronauts to then be sent to the Moon. He also had detailed plans on making a lunar base where astronauts could use the base as another launch point to other places in the solar system and to perform scientific experiments on the Moon s low gravity environment. He even had plans to send astronauts to Mars using his space station as a launchpad, which was something that no one at the time was talking about or even considering. In fact, he was the first person to perform a detailed analysis of traveling to Mars. Although he had designed these missions with great detail and accounting for much of the logistics of these missions, the US military was not interested in them since they did not believe it was necessary to focus on such things at that time. However, when the Russians sent the Sputnik satellite into space, the United States created NASA in 1958 in order to compete with the Russians with the aim of beating them in the space race. When the Marshall Space Flight Center was opened, Wernher Von Braunbecame the director of the facility. There he further worked on different rocket designs which included the Saturn V rocket. • 16. Questions On The Free Will The Free Will Problem presents three different theses that, upon first glance, seem both intuitive and reasonable as long as they are considered independently. It is not possible to entertain all three theses together while maintaining any level of consistency. The problem, therefore, is in determining which of the three theses to discard. The first thesis is the Free WillThesis, which simply states that agents sometimes act freely. This thesis seems to be reasonable for at least two reasons. The first reason is that, more often than not, we feel as though we are free; that is we feel as though we make a choice based on what we want, whether it be after careful consideration or merely on a whim. The very idea that we feel as though we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second thesis in the Free Will problem is the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every event is causally determined to occur by another event; every event has a cause. This thesis seems reasonable because it coincides with the way in which we view the world, that being scientifically. Whenever an event occurs we naturally think that something caused that event. Imagine a cup of water falling over on a desk. It goes against our common sense to say that nothing caused the cup of water to fall over, it just did. We may not always know what the cause is but we do seem to think that a cause is necessary for the event to have happened and so far science seems to support this conclusion. The third thesis in the Free Will Problem is Incompatibilism Thesis, which states that the Free Will Thesis and the Causal Determinism Thesis are incompatible with one another; in other words, they are mutually exclusive. This thesis seems reasonable due to the following: if we define free will as acting without a cause or not being caused to act, and the Free Will Thesis says agents sometime act freely, then anytime we, as agents, act freely, an event occurs that does not have a cause. This is a direct violation of the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every event must have a cause. All three theses seem intuitively plausible but it is impossible to hold all three theses together consistently. Choosing

  • 18. Ebola Virus Disease ( Ebv ) Ebola virus disease (EBV), or just Ebola, is an acute, often fatal illness, with a case fatality rate of up to 90%. It is one of a number of haemorrhagic fever diseases. Ebola is a single stranded RNA virus with an unusual, variable length, branched morphology. The helical capsid is enclosed inside a membrane.. It is one of the world s most virulent diseases. The Ebolavirus is a member of the Filoviridae family. There are 5 known subtypes of Ebola. The infection is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected animals or people. The current hypothesis is that fruit bats are the original host of the virus. Ebola was introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The virus also inhibits interferon which is a molecule that cells make use of to further retard viral reproduction. The exact process what happens next is not fully known but the virus attacks the connective tissue and reproduces at an extremely fast rate in the collagen, digesting the tissue as it goes. The virus can ultimately cause viral hemorrhagic fever. When the macrophages in our body register the virus and consume it, they end up becoming infected and are manipulated to release proteins that trigger coagulation create small clots in the blood. This leads to the blood slowly thickening and therefore a decreased blood flow. As the clots begin to get stuck in the blood vessels, the patient begins to exhibit red spots on the skin the rash. As the disease progresses, these clots and their spots increase in size. Another more serious effect of the Ebola virus s clotting factor is the decreased blood supply to the vital areas of the body such as the liver, brain, kidneys, lungs, intestines, testicles and extremities ultimately causing a multi organ failure or septic shock. The macrophages also produce other inflammatory signalling proteins and nitric oxide, which damage the lining of blood vessels, causing them to leak and sometimes burst. The content leaks out, and the damage and presence of the virus particles activates

It was built in the 14th century to guard the entrance to Paris. It had eight towers linked with walls, all 100 feet high. A moat that was more than eighty feet wide surrounded the fortress. During the 17th and 18th century, the Bastille was used as a prison for those who were thought to doubt the government and its power. The Storming of Bastille took place on July 14, 1789. A large mob of Parisians, mainly consisting of craftsmen and salesmen, marched to the tower in search of weapons and prisoners. The crowd, however, did not impress the few guards on duty at that time. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by most in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn t hit me until recently that women were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to question the relevancy of such an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the media defies not only our principles, but also the nation s principles. How can we claim that we are a nation of equal opportunity if we don t practice what we preach? We must encourage women to increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering the most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity between the sexes. The problem of gender inequality in media has two main aspects the shunning of women into petty, less important aspects of news and a clear lack of women in leadership in media. Brakhage and his editors use quick cutting to create a sequence similar to a montage. This type of editing kept me on the edge of seat, I was always waiting for more information or different shots to appear. The downside to this erratic type of editing is that it leaves little room for a concrete narrative to be pulled; then leaving audience interpretation to be the driving force of the film s critical analyses. Walter Murch, the editor of Sam Mendes Jarhead, once told Lawrence Weschler in his essay Valkyries over Iraq that he believes the largest problem with film as a narrative medium is that it s literal, in that what you see is what was literally there, and yet we as filmmakers in processing the narrative have to create a spaciousness, a sketchy ambiguity, that allows the audience themselves to piece it all together and make it powerfully their own. Brakhage takes that sketchy ambiguity and throws it out the window, leaving all ambiguity and nothing literal. Thus the film can be easily categorized as experimental; Brakhage is heavily

The Black Death did exactly this, in a way it instilled fear in those affected and even those it didn t affect directly. This is evident through religious persecution, disrespect of burial traditions, and the breakdown of families. Even though the Black Deathhappened in the 14th centurywe see similarities in the reaction people have when deadly outbreaks occur in the 21st century. At the same time advances in everything from medicine to disease control have helped us to somewhat cope with the fear that comes with deadly outbreaks as well. Those advances show the differences between today and those in the 14th century, but whether it be now or in history the worst can always be brought out of people. Back to 14th Century Europe when things became dark and the church was trying to regain control. At the time where the plague came into play so did religious persecution, which brought the worst out in people. Because someone or something had to be blamed for all the death and the destruction that came with the plague. For example, many people unfairly treated Jewish people, and often viewed them as scapegoats. King Pedro IV of Aragon stated, And they foolishly killed many Jews of the aljame, and they cruelly beat and even wounded some others . (King Pedro IV, doc.#35,142). Many people held debts to the Jews and this helped fuel peoples hate towards the Jews

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites The attraction of composites primarily stems from their ability to replace standard lightweight/high strength metals or wood with an even lightweight/higher strength alternatively. Additionally, composites offer new design flexibilities, improved corrosion and wear resistance, low thermal conductivity and increase fatigue life. • 31. Why Building A Building Envelope Design Is Important At... As time moves forward, the design for better and more sophisticated envelope buildings will continue to be important at all the levels of construction. Basically a building envelope is the separation between the interior and the exterior environment with the inclusion of air, light, heat, water and noise transfer resistances. The building envelopeacts as a thermal barrier, because it regulates the temperature of the inside, while the outside temperature can be different. Having a great envelope design can provide more effective results on any type of climate. This is one of the reasons on why building managers are focusing more in having a great envelope design, especially now that every company wants to reduce energy costs and be more energy friendly. Basic Components The basic components of an envelope are floors, roofs, fenestrations (windows, skylights, clerestories, etc), doors, walls and more. The biggest function of a successful envelope design is to see how the heat is been transferred between the outside and the inside. Minimizing heat transferring can be very important because it can help reduce the amount of need of the space cooling and heating. That is why understanding how heat is been transferred and the types of insulations that can be used in walls can decrease energy costs at a larger scale. Engineers and architects have created new ways to improve the way a building is designed to have great heat efficiency and maximize the light from the sun. As a

This also saves many people s lives. Most people wonder what Tropical rain forest are. Tropical rain forest are mostly to be found as warm, wet climates. They contain many species. Today rain forest cover very little as in six percent of Earth s Surface. Rain forest hold the most productive and complex ecosystem on the whole Earth. All of the plants contribute to the Earth s oxygen. All of the plants and trees can cure many deadly diseases. There is more rain forest than people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Periwinkle is the most active plant and covers most of the forest floor, also is a medicine to fight tumors and able to treat some Leukemia. Today over one hundred pharmacies use the braches and plants for medicine. Twenty five percent of cancer fighting medicines are found in rain forest. There are also many trees used for medicine too. For example one of the trees such as the Annatto tree has an oil extract of the tree. The Annatto tree contains carotenoids bixin, used for protection against UV rays. It also helps to lower blood pressure and is a powerful bug repellent. The Cocoa tree is one of the few that is very high in medicinal value, that makes it one of the most important rain forest tree. This one and only tree produces over one hundred fifty chemicals that can come from its leaves, seeds, fruit, and bark. It is made to heal or to treat anxiety, laziest, fever, coughs, kidney stones, and large cuts and bruises. The Trumpet tree is a popular tree used extensively in traditional medicine in Central and South America. Every part of the tree; leaves, fruits, flowers, bark, and roots are used to treat breathing illnesses and arthritis. The Cinchona tree is a large poisonous vine that grow along the tree and is full of alkaloids. It is used for treating bruises, fever, swelling in you
  • 39. The Corruption Of The Shortcomings Of Korean Americans In... When the streets of Los Angeles exploded on April 29, 1992, Korean Americans found themselves in a crisis of identity. Known to them as Sa i gu, or 4 2 9, the five day uprising bluntly revealed their cultural separation and its shortcomings. As Los Angeles fell apart, local Korean business owners found themselves confronting their prejudice, which had undermined their relationship with black customers. Following the exposure of these two issues during and after the riots, a mental shift in the Korean Americancommunity became evident through its response to the event. By exemplifying the involvement of Korean merchants in interethnic disputes, the Los Angelesriots prompted the integration of Korean Americans into America s multicultural society. Prior to the upheaval in 1992, the economic situation of many Korean immigrants, including those who were merchants in Los Angeles, influenced their perceived isolation from other Americans. Although a majority of these Koreanshad a high education and desired to work as professionals in America, their foreigner status and limited English prevented them from doing so. Consequently, they resorted to running small businesses, hoping to eventually achieve mainstream success and therefore upward mobility. To progress toward this goal, Korean merchants depended on each other for funding; however, despite the financial advantages that this networking brought, it simultaneously kept Koreans from engaging with the society that they
  • 40. Universities Censorship Over the centuries Universities have been regulated by several diverse organizations, the government being the main influence. With the Universities conformity (alliance or association or collaberation) with the government, this manipulation is pulling away from what a University is meant to be. When Universities are influenced by excess amounts of funding this increases the disturbance of how teachers and scholars are influenced. Moreover, Universities have acquired significant amounts of funding in respects to assertive departments: medical research, basic science research, and engineering research. As universities increase enrollment, thus, increasing the requirements for additional supplies for research projects, and implementing the need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, as universities increase student enrollment, the university will require additional supplies for research projects. This compels administration to seek funding rather than searching for ways to benefit society. In addition, causing problems between colleagues and various departments, however, keep in mind when one department receives funding over another due to Government influences, the smaller departments are still funded by smaller organizations. Furthermore, the government is trying exert certain departments to distribute their findings. The rise to commercialize research has been ongoing since the 1980 s. In 2002 the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, along with the government, assembled a meeting to discuss commercialization and the major research departments. The three companies emplaced an alliance stating the Universities will receive double the funding for research departments, in return tripling the commercialization. Interestingly, the department faculties were not in attendance for this conference; whom are considerable contributors to the commercialization of funded project. The government has already capitalized peoples well being in regards to mental health as demonstrated by commercialized products. Therefore, anti depressants drugs are endorsed because they are commercialized. Not addressing that mental health can be approached in various ways. However, the evidence is rising that such natural products can
  • 41. The Worst Recession Of The United States At the end of the 20th century, it was clear that the United States national economy was on a incline. The U.S began winning the worldwide arms race, holding 50% of the world weapons stockpile (Taylor 10). Capitalism, the main trademark of the United States economy, spread like a wildfire across the majority of the world (Taylor 10). To the uneducated ear, news like this sounds great; the United Statesis slowly taking over the world. However, this insane growth was actually poising the U.S. for an extreme downfall in the coming years of the early 21st century. The major downfall would come to be known as the worst recession in our history since the infamous Great Depression. While there are several speculated causes to the recession of 2007, one cause that stands out is the housing bubble burst. As the housing bubble burst and trillions of dollars worth of toxic mortgages began to go bad in 2007, fear spread through the massive firms that form the heart of Wall Street ( Meltdown ) . The first repercussions of the housing bubble bursting were the floating rumors about the investment bank, Bear Stearns. The rumors of the bank s imminent bankruptcy were so abundant, that they became a self fulfilling prophecy ( Meltdown ). In an attempt to save the bank, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernankecreated a deal with JPMorgan ( Meltdown ). This deal stated that the federal government would use $30 billion to cover Bear Stearns questionable assets tied to toxic mortgages

A Mathematical Model Of Centripetal Force Essay Kayla Ward Formal lab report 1: lab 4 10/9/16 Centripetal Force Abstract: The idea of this experiment is to represent a mathematical model of centripetal force. This is obtained using a rubber stopper and various hanging weights. Using these items one would attach the weighted rubber stoppers to one end of the apparatus and a hanging mass on the opposite end. The time and number of rotations were recorded for various weight scenarios and then used to graph the square of the orbital period versus the Mass ratio of the swinging to hanging weight. This was done to show accuracy of the theoretical model in real time. The data obtained from this experiment is then calculated and plotted on a graph. This information was between a twenty percent confidence interval due to human error. The results shown below proved the model to be accurate. Introduction: The goal of this experiment was to show the difference in centripetal velocity of the rubber stopper as the weight changed between the rubber stopper, Msb, and the circular weight, MH. Centripetal force is the net force pointing from the body toward a fixed center of curvature. In other words, centripetal force can be defined as the net force that is central seeking and radial, causing a curved motion to an object. The objective of this experiment is to study motion, with the concept of centripetal force of a spinning object on the end of a string. As the string rotates around the apparatus the string follows the
  • 43. Euphemism In Boomerang By Lyfe Jennings The song I ve chosen to interpret was Boomerang by Lyfe Jennings. The boomerang effect is an euphemism. As we learned in our discussion that it s a nicer way to say something to someone without being offensive or, coming off as harsh. The meaning of boomerang is other way of saying what comes around goes around. What you do to others, will always comeback to you in the long run. Some refer to it as karma which is also a euphemism. In the song Lyfe Jennings was basically saying that he didn t understand how being heartbroken felt until it happened to him. He didn t realize the pain he caused others until someone made him fell the same way. He than understood how it felt to be in love with someone who hurts you the most, he knew the pain he
  • 44. Freedom Of The Press In The First Amendment It is often easy to forget why we, as Americans, have the freedoms that we do. The liberties that other countries do not have are liberties that we take for granted. Being able to write and publish anything was very important to the framers of the constitution. So important in fact, that is was included in the first amendment. The framers included freedom of the press in the first amendment because it allowed the public to be educated on everything that occurs with their government and for citizens to be influenced by others ideas to form their own opinions. The colonizers had left a government that hindered their freedoms. They fought the revolutionary war to break free from the British authority and have the power to make their own
