Science Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Science Essay Example" can be quite challenging, requiring a
balance between technical accuracy and engaging prose. The difficulty arises from the need to
distill complex scientific concepts into digestible information for a broader audience, while
maintaining the integrity of the subject matter.
Firstly, one must possess a solid understanding of the scientific principles underpinning the
chosen topic. This demands extensive research, delving into academic journals, textbooks, and
reliable online sources to gather accurate and up-to-date information. The challenge lies not only
in comprehending these intricate concepts but also in presenting them in a coherent and
accessible manner.
Additionally, striking the right tone is crucial. Balancing between being informative and
engaging is a delicate task, as overly technical language may alienate non-expert readers, while
oversimplification can compromise the essay's credibility. Achieving this balance requires a
nuanced approach, considering the target audience's level of familiarity with scientific
terminology.
Furthermore, organizing the essay logically poses its own set of challenges. Connecting ideas
cohesively and ensuring a smooth flow of information can be intricate, especially when dealing
with multifaceted scientific topics. Each paragraph must build upon the previous one,
contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
Lastly, adhering to academic standards and citation formats is essential. Accurate referencing
and proper citation of sources contribute to the credibility of the essay. Failure to meet these
standards can result in a loss of academic integrity and may even lead to plagiarism issues.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on a scientific topic requires a delicate balance between
understanding complex concepts, communicating them effectively, and adhering to academic
standards. It demands meticulous research, thoughtful organization, and a keen awareness of the
target audience. While challenging, the process is ultimately rewarding, as it allows for the
exploration and dissemination of valuable scientific knowledge.

1920s Flappers Research Paper
The 1920s was the era of the Flapper. Young women started to cut their hair, shorten
their skirts, so that they could more easily dance the wild, flapping dances of the age
(hence the term flapper ). They drank and smoked and wore makeup, and went out
with boys without a chaperone. They played sports, golf, tennis, and swimming were
all very popular. Sunbathing became popular with womenfor the first time. Women
enjoyed driving automobiles, and many women took to flying aeroplanes.
Although many girls still went to college, the number was lower than in the pre
WW1 era, and there was a decline of interest in careers among young women. Most
women worked until they got married, but far fewer women were interested in
staying single and pursuing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Kimberly Clark Company had manufactured bandages made out of wood pulp

Singing In The Rain Analysis
The film Singing in the Rain was produced in 1952 but still takes the world with
storm. The musical film, which was directed by Gene Kelly and Donen Stanley stars
Donald O Connor, Gene Kelley, Jean Hagen, and Debbie Reynolds has a lot for the
audiences to desire and learn from. The film presents a skillful use of setting, music,
makeup, costumes and standard photography (Cannon 2). The piece combines many
effects together to catch the attention of the audiences. In fact, the viewers enjoy both
the musical part and the visual element separately, something that makes it a well
thought piece. In other words, it is both a romantic piece, though a smog as well.
Being a musical film, Singing in the Rain represents a classical music, making it an
Merton s Strain Theory Of Deviance And Labelling Theory
The comparison and contrast between Merton s strain theory of deviance and
Labelling theory. In this essay, the comparison between and contrast between
strain theory and labelling theory. The essay will start with the key features of
each theory and then it will go into the main comparison of the two theories. It will
go into to detail on the similarities and differences between the two theories. Strain
theory is the theory developed in 1938 by Robert K Merton. It s the theory that
society puts pressure on people to achieve socially accepted goals. Labelling
theory is the theory that the public act in the way that society has labelled them,
which gives negative connotations towards that person. Both the theories, judge
crime on the type of people and how they have been deemed, both theories try to
explain crime from social perspectives. Labelling theory is the view of deviance
according to which being labelled as a deviant leads a person to engage in deviant
behaviour. This states that if a person were to labelled as a thief, that person would
be treated different (looked down upon). This could leave this person to do what they
are labelled as and commit theft. This is backed up with study.com s definition of
labelling theory, which states people become criminals when labelled as such and
when they accept the label as personal identity . This moves into strain theory as the
strain theory cultural theory as in Merton s strain theory argues that the American

Connecting any generator in parallel into the local final circuit with another source
however has several implications in terms of electric shock protection. The most
important are the safety to the service s staff, public and the users of the generator.
In order to evade the risk of electric shock, the users mentioned above should be
informed of an operational generator (Small Scale Embedded Generator SSEG)
through labels, so they can take their precautions. The main source supply and SSEG
must be isolated prior to any electrical work installation/connection. The SSEG
should not have its own earth if connected parallel to another source (British

This type of protection is known to be either a TT or TN systems. The TT System
of Earthing is not suitable where a TN C S system is available it s only used in old
installation or rural parts of the country where overhead cable supplies are used.
The associated earth fault loops with the TT System of Earthing is that the
exposed conductive metalwork causes a fault current to flow through it to earth
and return to the source via a general mass of earth (Figure 1). It is anticipated that
the level of fault current will cause the RCD to trip or to blow the fuse in the time
indicated in the ETCI rules. At 230 Volts its 5 seconds for fixed equipment, 0.4
seconds for portable equipment, socket outlets and 0.4 seconds for fixed equipment
in bathrooms. The main disadvantage of the TT system connection of protecting
against indirect contact is that the earth fault path resistance could easily allow a
continual earth fault to exist which may well be lethal or causes fire. The TN C S
system of earthing has the main earth terminal connected to the supply neutral and
the earth electrode. When the load fault to earth occurs it turn into a fault to the
incoming neutral and the fault route resistance is a lot lower than the TT system. A
large current will flow which causes the RCD to trip within the specified time

Criminal Court Reflection
Arguably, the criminal court is the most important aspect of the criminal justice
system. After all, [t]he criminal court is the setting in which many of the most
important decisions in the criminal justice system are made. Eyewitness
identification, bail, trial, plea negotiations, and sentencing all involve court decisions
(Siegel Worrall, 2016, p. 156). Naturally, I decided to experience the criminal court
in all its glory, as the court is such a focal point for the decisions in the criminal justice
system. I went to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida to observe [criminal
trials, juryselection, arraignments, and pleanegotiations...], specifically to the
Criminal Courthouse Annex across from the Edgecomb Courthouse. This court was a
court of general jurisdiction, which means that it was a state court that had
jurisdiction over cases that involved felonies or serious civil issues that dealt with a

The judge or clerk would look up someone s name from a computerized database

microphones, recording devices that were used to record and videotape testimonies,
statements, and hearings in general. Basically, what Siegel and Worrall s book
presented as the use of technology in court management was the same as what I
observed that day. By using this technology, judicial staff could retrieve and organize
data quickly and in an efficiently. Like the book notes, I observed the ease in which
technology made case monitoring, indexing, and scheduling more efficient, case
history maintenance and reporting occur quicker, and document preparation took
less time. The use of technology also made searching for the counsel on a case or a

the Mental Health Crisis Hotline is Working together to achieve hope, healing, and a

or individuals from completing suicide by applying crisis intervention/prevention
techniques. In addition, the hotline provides callers empathy, genuineness, and

In the event, that no one is calling the hotline, the supervisor, and lead team member
utilize the downtime to enhance the quality of service for callers and the crisis
hotline members. Regarding recent events, this week a call came in from an
individual residing in New Mexico, threatening to complete suicide. During the call, a
seasoned employee signals that the caller conveys strong characteristic traits of
schizophrenia; however, had no electronically means to confirm. This individual was
extremely violent during the call, suffering from severe hallucinations/delusions,
breaking objects, and screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs. Events such as
this require the undivided attention of the Recovery Specialist, as he or she is
actively engaging with the caller, in the attempt to rationalize their delusional
thoughts; hence, suicide intervention/prevention. Throughout the call, this individual
states that due to the inadequacy of family support, caller feels that by consuming
large quantities of pills, family members will then have to pay more attention to the
callers physiological needs. The Crisis Hotline members successfully engaged with
the caller, providing the caller with the ability to continuing living. The key to
assisting the mentally ill populace is empathetic communication, aligning them with
reasons to live a meaningful life as humanly possible within society. From a personal
perspective, the mentally ill populace deserves adequate and responsive treatment, as
the adverse effects inhibit their metacognition. The ideation once possessed is either
diminishing or has barriers that enhance the delusions/hallucinations. Proper
advocacy and community awareness are needed to bridge the gap eliminating
discriminating behaviors to the stigma associated with mental
Virgin By Annibal
The Coronation of the Virgin is an oil on canvas art piece which was painted by
Annibale Carracci, an Italian painter. The oil on the canvas is a slow drying paint
paste made with ground pigment and a drying oil such as the commonly used
linseed oil. According to Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, Carracci is
considered the most influential painter of the seventeen century and a key figure in
the development of classicism . After Annibale s arrival to Rome in 1595, his pivotal
work was painted for Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini. Annibale has created this art by
bringing together two currents of Italian painting: a northern Italian sensitivity to the
effects of a natural seeming light and color, and the careful spatial organization and
idealized figure types associated with the High Renaissance(MET Museum). Though

Cocaine In Colombia
When people think of cocaine the first country that most people will think of is
Columbia. A Picture of Columbia has been painted into the minds of Americans
because of popular culture. Shows such as Narcos which is extremely popular
portray Columbia as a lawless jungle where Pablo Escobar was able to build a drug
empire around cocaine. He made his money by smuggling cocaine into many
different countries with the U.S being one of the largest. What many people don t
know is that the Columbian government is actively trying to put a stop to this drug
trade. Cocaine is a drug that can be found in every corner of the world so how can
something that is so widespread be stopped? In order to answer this question, you
need to first look at every aspect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And that lies with education. Schools do not spend the time or resources to teach
children about drugs. The extent of the drug education in America is that they are
bad and not to do them. No course in the public school system goes into detail about
what these drugs actually do. Many people will argue that kids do not need to learn
this information because they will not understand it. But according to self report
studies children are experimenting with drugs at younger and younger ages. What
this means is that you have children who get addicted to these drugs and then carry
their addictions with them throughout adulthood. This is where an impact can
actually be made
In order to disrupt the cocaine supply chain, we need to focus on the demand
aspect. If you can get rid of the demand of something, then there will be no reason to
supply it. one of the first things that you learn in businesses is the supply demand
model. This is a tool that suppliers can use to make sure that you can meet the
demand. By lowing the demand money would be wasted on producing a product that

Bill Gates and Nolan Bushnell
Pioneers of Computer Programming
When you think of 21st century computing, two things come to mind: Windows and
video games. Learning Team A introduces you to the two men responsible for these
phenomena В– Bill Gates and Nolan Bushnell.
William Henry Gates III
During that late 1960 s and early 1970 s, BASIC was one of the premier
programming languages. At that time, Bill Gates and his friend Paul Allen made the
commitment to learn BASIC by reading the user manuals. In exchange for computer
time, they made an agreement with a local company called the Computer Center
Corporation to provide de bugging services for software on the company s DEC
machine. This time was used not only to search for errors, but also to study the

After seeing the magazine article, Gates contacted Ed Roberts of the MITS
Company and proposed to that he write some BASIC software for the Altair. The
MITS personnel were impressed with the initial work that Gates and his friends had
completed and decided to meet with them to test the team s code. After a successful
demonstration of the code, Gates made the decision to leave school and move to
Albuquerque and work with MITS on the Altair.
After the move Gates would devote his energies to Microsoft, a company that he
would establish in 1975 with Allen. Guided by a belief that the computer would be
a valuable tool on every office desktop and in every home, they began developing
software for personal computers. Microsoft would sell its BASIC system to MITS,
NCR and Intel. It proved to be more cost effective for companies to buy Microsoft
software rather than spend the time and money to develop their own.
In January of 1979, Gates made the decision to move Microsoft to Seattle,
Washington. Gates believed that part of the country was better suited for recruiting
programmers. Microsoft adopted a new standard for hiring employees; the company
decided to hire only the most gifted and intelligent new college graduates rather than
experienced programmers. The company was looking for talent that came with no
previous programming biases. The expansions of personnel would lead to the

How Does Mary Anne Change In The Sweetheart Of Song

War never changes, but people do. In Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong a young medic
decides to fly his high school sweetheart, Mary Anne, to Vietnam so they can spend
time together after he discovers the lack of discipline in camp. When Mary Anne
arrives she is innocent, bubbly, flirtatious, and curious with blonde hair, long legs,
and blue eyes. Her curiosity gets her involved in some of the medical activities in
camp, then she starts assembling guns and visiting local towns. Mary Anne gets
hooked. She cuts her hair, stops wearing makeup and jewelry, and no longer wants to
get married and settle down with Mark. In Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong Tim O Brien

now decided that fighting with the Green Berets is more important to her than
staying with the man she was engaged to marry. She returns once more, this time
with glowing jungle green eyes instead of blue, symbolizing her complete entrance
into war (101). She is now one with the green mountains of Vietnam. She has now
decided that the war is more important than getting married, starting a family, or even
going home. This decision was made time and time again by millions of young men
who had gone to Vietnam as a consequence of having their birth on the wrong day.
Only a few of these men exited Vietnam as the same person that
Gender Inequality In Canada Essay
Running Head: WHY FEMINISM IS STILL NEEDED IN CANADA
Gender inequality, by definition, refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of
individuals wholly or partly due to their genders (Wikipedia, 2017). Canada has
progressed towards gender equality in multiple aspects; however, there are many
areas within Canada in which women are still oppressed due to their gender. For
instance, Canadian women in the work force are treated unequally in contrast to men
in regards to opportunity, advancement, and salary. It is due to lack of equality within
the work field that Canada still requires feminism.
The first woman elected into Canadian government, Agnes McPhail, marked history
in the year of 1921. Although this evolutionary act occurred nearly a full century
ago, there is still discrepancy within the House of Commons. Currently there are a

In a recent study done by OECD (Organization for Economic Co operation and
Development), Canada was ranked 7th amongst a total of 34 countries in regards
to highest wage gap (Canadian Women s Foundation, 2014). Again, some progress
has been made in reference to female and male wage difference, but there are still
some unspoken occurrences of inequality. It is possible to assume that female
dominated jobs aren t viewed as of equal importance than men dominated jobs, this
is because society still considers the majority of female occupations girly and more
domesticated (Canadian Women s Foundation, 2014). Whereas less females are
being appointed to jobs of higher pay with more labour work, such as construction,
or of importance, like a lawyer. Women between 25 54 made up 22% of Canada s
minimum wage jobs, men within the same age group doubled this statistic (Canadian
Women s Foundation, 2014). This is proof that less women are being hired to jobs

What Causes Joint Pain
Joint pain and other musculoskeletal conditions are the most prevalent causes of
chronic pain worldwide, affecting over 50 million people in the USA alone. The most
common form of joint pain is Arthritis which is a disease that causes pain, swelling
and restricted movement in joints. There are various types of arthritis such as
Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritisand Gout.
Arthritis (along with other rheumatic conditions) has been the leading cause of
disability among US adults for the past 15 years. According to Dr Vijay Vad, (Dr
Vijay Vad, 2009), arthritis is one of the oldest and most chronic diseases in the world.
The origins of rheumatic conditions such as arthritis date back to ancient times.

However there are various treatments (both conventional to mainstream medicine, and
alternate treatments) for RA. The most important thing is to begin treatment early,
before the joints undergo permanent damage. The most important and successful
treatment is that of starting treatment with DMARDs (disease modifying ant
rheumatic drugs) that not only relieve the symptoms of RA, but also slow down
the progression of the disease itself. Anti inflammatory drugs have also proven to be
successful in managing symptoms of RA. (Eric Ruderman, 2013).. Physical and
occupational therapy as well as low impact exercise also have beneficial effects on
the symptoms of RA due to them strengthening the joint and improving mobility. For
severe RA that cannot be helped by other treatments, surgery has proven to be
beneficial as well. There are also a number of alternative treatments for RA.
According to The Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Network (RASN), Organic turmeric
is very successful in terms of its benefits to relieving symptoms of RA. This is due to
the fact that it is a natural antioxidant and anti inflammatory agent that also has bone
protective properties (a study by the US National Institute of Health in 2012 on rats
has proved this) (Kamarudin TA,
Delian League Research Paper
The Delian League was an alliance of eastern Greek city states formed in 478
BCE, to protect the rights and interests of those states against additional attacks
from the Persians, following the battles of Marathon, Salamis, and Plataea
(Cartlwright, 2016). How successful that alliance was is a matter of perspective
and timeline. Image of the Delian League ((Gill, 2017). There is an old Latin
phrase attributed to the Roman general Vegetius, if you want peace, prepare for
war (Gill, 2017b), which has commonly been abbreviated to Peace through strength
. Military Success From that perspective, the Delian League was extremely
effective in dealing with, and deterring outside threats (for a time at least). As a
direct result of their combined strength, the Delians defeated the Persia in a series
of decisive battles, ending with the battle of Eurymedon in 466. According to
Samons (1998), Kimon, Kallias and Peace with Persia, these victories lead directly
to a peace treaty being signed by the Persian Emperor Xerxes prior to his death in
465 BCE (p. 129). This was the Golden Age of Athens, which continued until the

The Grecian city states were a fractious lot with self serving alliances shifting daily.
This prevented any war from engulfing all nations. Only when faced with an external
threat would they combine their forces. In 446/5 that ended with a treaty splitting
Greece into 2 hegemonies (Gill, 2017a). With the contentious nature of the city states
(particularly Athens), war was inevitable, and when it happened, Greece was
devastated, and left it ripe for external invasion. Ironically, such external threats were
the original justification for the formation of the Delian League. In this regard it was

A Professor Of Psychology At A University
A professor of psychology at a university in a large metropolitan area would be at
risk of violating several codes of ethics if he tells his abnormal psychology class
that he is a psychotherapist in private practice and that they can come to him for
therapy during the duration of the semester. Several problems can occur as a result
of the professor s solicitation of his service as a psychotherapist to his students (5.6,
American Psychological Association, 2002). By assuming two professional roles
with his students the professor is clearly engaged in multiple relationships (3.5,
American Psychological Association, 2002). The students are at risk of being
exploited by their professor. The professor has knowledge of his student s deepest
thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. This personal information can be used
to manipulate the student s behavior in a classroom setting (3.8, American

`` Pride `` By John Aquinas
When one hears the word pride , one would rarely imagine a modest person who
devotes their time to volunteer work and philanthropy. Typically, one would picture
an arrogant politician or a movie star, a person so self absorbed that they almost
entirely ignore the needs of those around them. However, even the humblest acts of
virtuecan arise from prideas well. The story of Icarus, the boy who became
entranced with his own pride and flew too close to the sun, is told time and time
again; however, there is another story of pride one hears less often, the person who
takes pride in their own humility. Rather than take pride in typical attributes such
as wealth, prestige, or even appearance, these people take pride in their modesty
and virtue. In this way, pride comes from an unexpected source and is difficult to
avoid since it takes occasion even from good deeds (Aquinas 7). While the other
six deadly sins present both helpful and harmful characteristics of the sin, pride is
complex in corrupting even the most well intentioned actions. At first, it would
seem that humility would be the opposite of pride since it is defined as, having a
lowly opinion of oneself ( Humility ). However, there are also occasions in which a
person corrupts the virtue by using it to enhance their image and view it as an
example of their own excellence. For example, although most of those volunteering at
the soup kitchen want to improve their community or provide to those less fortunate,
there
The Power and Limitations of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Essay
In a society dominated by male superheroes, it is not that often that a female
character is able to step forward and defend the world. There have been quite a few
female superheroes throughout the ages of popular culture, including the Canadian
Marvel super heroine, Aurora ( Marvel ), and DC Comic s character, Black Canary
(Kanigher, and Infantino). Yet for every one female superherothat is encountered,
there are at least a dozen more male superheroes to stand around and often in front of
her. Even more frustratingly, the female superheroes are often merely there to be the
gendered counterpart to the much more powerful, dominant male superheroes. There
have been few women who have stood out as being independent, admirable sources of

The story is of a teenage girl who is chosen to be the next Slayer, endowed with
supernatural strength in order to aide her on her quest, because: In every generation
there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and
the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer ( Welcome to the Hellmouth ). In this series,
the Slayer is known as Buffy Summers, and the series follows her as she faces one
apocalypse after another, graduating school, dealing with boys and life and death
and all the issues that one expects to arise from a coming of age series. What makes
Buffy unique is that unlike the rest of the Slayers from the generations before her,
she has a collection of friends who help her answer her calling, and together, they
create an enthralling cast that keeps the viewers coming back to relive each
episode. Feminists have hailed Buffy as being one of the most prominent series
that deals with feminist issues and provides viewers with a strong female
figurehead; others, however, look at the show with a more critical eye, wondering
just what kind of feminism and feminist ideals are being portrayed in the series.
This paper will touch upon most of these ideas, yet for now, the focus will be on
the character of Buffy herself. . The main character of the series is a young woman
who is named Buffy Summers. Buffy s character is summarized rather neatly by
Elana Levine in her essay, Buffy and the New Girl Order . Levine
Michel Foucault s Panopticon
Author Michel Foucault uses the Panopticon as a metaphor to define the relationship
between the discipline and punishment system, and the concept of power knowledge.
Discerning the population equates to power and knowledge. Power is gained by the
information you acquire when keeping close tabs on people.
The Panopticon uses a different method of discipline . Instead of torturing, using
violence, and exhibiting power through this way, this new system forces the inmates
inside the structure to behave because of the force it has over their mind. Since they
do not know when or even if they are being overseen, the effect is them acting as if
they are being supervised at all times. Any and all events are noted and through this
observation, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With keeping the convicts locked up in this Panopticon, intimidation isn t required
to have him behave. Since each one has their own cell, there is no worry for
anyone planning a group escape. The surveillance would keep them under control.
There is not much one can do when alone and under constant supervision. Same
goes for the students. Besides this method keeping unruly schoolchildren at bay, it
also stops them from cheating off of one another. It shows which student is
actually clever and dangerous. The Panopticon can be used in a way to have the
children believe what isn t factual. Anyone can learn anything and none would be
the wiser since that was the only thing they were taught. Regarding workers, this
establishment would reveal who manages their time wisely and how much work
they complete in however long. That way the manager would know how much to
pay each one based on the job done. The Panopticon would also stop the risk of
contagion between patients in hospitals. The central tower is built in such a way
that people would never know if anyone was in there. No movement or light can be
detected. So at any moment an inspector or boss can come in and watch the building,
taking note of every detail, and doing as he pleases with the information he comes
Pulstar Research Papers
Pulsars are highly magnetised, rapidly spinning (the spin period ranging from a
few milliseconds to a few seconds) neutron stars, which are the end products of the

The Federal Reserve System
The Federal Reserve is a federal system enacted to help balance the monetary system
of America. Overall, the system is meant to encourage economic growth. However,
there are some flaws of the system that result in economic chaos, such as stealing and
inflation. It s vital to understand the biblical principles that are overstepped by the
Federal Reserve to determine if it is a system that aids Christian practices. Thus, one
can observe the important role that the system plays, but also the problems that its
flaws can create by overstepping Christian principles.
The Federal Reserve system was created to help maintain a balance for the monetary
system in America. Not only does it help regulate the flow of currency, but it also
oversees banks and therefore influences Americans on a personal level with their
finances. Evidently, the system is deeply webbed into the federal system and
everyday American life that it is now the system that is largely used help to keep
order to the economy. While the system has been beneficial, it s also had its moments

stable country and economy. However, this doesn t necessarily mean that the system

doctors to perform horrific experiments on the prisoners at his camp. Hoss allowed

many more disturbing experiments. Auschwitz camp doctors, so called German

They mostly tortured Jewish children and Gypsy children. Hoss used to kill kids

held in pressure chambers, tested with dangerous drugs, they were sterilized, and
some froze to death during experiments. Children were treated horribly. Even
though Höss did not perform any of these experiments himself, he was responsible
for ordering the deaths of those prisoners at his camp in Auschwitz. Höss enjoyed

The Destructive and Wrongful Use of Solitary Confinement
Very few prison systems and prison facilities use the term solitary confinement:,
instead referring to prison segregation or placement in restrictive housing (Solitary
Watch, FAQ).
Solitary confinement is the total isolation of inmates who are feared for being a
danger to society, the prison system itself for 23 hours a day from days to even
decades. Solitary confinement was established in the 1800 s, where it initially
started off as an experiment but is now being used as a first resort instead of being
used for the worst possible scenarios for many correction facilities in North America
to this present day. Prisoners are becoming mentally ill and are extending their time in
segregation by participating in self inflicted harm. Another word for the term jail is,
correction facility.
Solitary confinement is a form of cruel and unusual punishment and should be re
evaluated for overseeing the human rights of the inmates being held. Throughout the
time of being placed into the solitary confinement unit, many inmates continuously
become more and more disturbed.
As a result of being kept in polity confinement for extensive amounts of time,
prisoners begin to feel like they have nothing left to lose , thus, participating in self
destructive behaviours. According to The Canadian Medical Association Journal, 14

Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the Uk
Social Policy Report on Child Poverty in Wales and the UK
Introduction
In the UK, particularly in England and Wales, children s life chances are determined
by the economic status of the families into which they are a part of. Children from
poor households are more likely to suffer the consequences of their families
condition. They will have to endure the stigma of poverty in a profoundly lopsided
society where the socioeconomic standing of individuals is determined by their
capacity to buy. These poor children also have less access to quality educational
opportunities (Welbourne, 2012). Furthermore, children living in poverty at present
are likely to remain poor for the rest of their lives because of intergenerational cycles
of poverty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This resulted in the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (Butler Hickman, 2011, p. 133),
which was designed to encourage adoption for poor children.
The Organisation and Delivery of Child Welfare Services
Child welfare services in the UK are funded by the child benefit programme. Child
benefit has been integral to the income of families throughout the UK for more than
three decades now and it still prioritises poor children in the benefits and tax system.
A universal child benefit programme assists in the redistribution of resources from
taxation (Lewis, 2008, p. 126). Child benefit supplanted a tax allowance programme
for parents, but was changed into a payment scheme due to the fact that tax
allowances mostly give advantage to primary earners (Farthing, 2012, p. 4 5). Child
benefit is given to the primary caregiver, generally mothers.
Almost all European countries provide a universal child tax allowance or child
benefit. But the UK is starting to move away from this tradition. Child benefit is a
way of guaranteeing that the entire society is involved in the promotion of children
s wellbeing, especially those living in poverty. But the UK government has recently
reformed the child benefit scheme, away from the universal benefit model. Instead
of simply giving fewer allowances to parents the government will keep on paying the
total cost and claw back through taxation (Farthing, 2012, p. 5). The suggested claw
back benefits that are allocated and afterwards revoked
Personal Review And Reflection Paper
Personal Review and Reflection Paper During the journey of my education, it was
important to review and reflect on the activities and learning objectives that were
completed. The purpose of this assignment was to discuss what was learned and what
needed to be improved for the seven assignments that were required for this course,
identify three valuable strengths with supporting evidence, identify three areas that
need to be strengthened with supporting evidence, and list three goals with specific
steps and time frame to help improve the areas to be strengthened.

was learned and what needed improvement based on the professor s feedback for the
seven assignments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was able to stay one week ahead for this course, and by not having a deadline
looming, it was less stressful. Another part of my feedback was to remember my
focus breakers so that my productivity was not affected. I still need to remember to
say no to things. I am still working on this.
Week Three: Compare and Contrast Using APA StyleWeek three s assignment was to
compare and contrast the theories of Piaget and Vygosky using APA format. I
learned more about APA format especially citing references. I spent a lot of time
proofreading my paper. I need to become faster at completing this task. The
feedback that I received on this assignment was that my assignment was clear, easy
to follow, and organized. For the most part, I had a strong level of comprehension
of the material. One item that was noted was that I needed to be more specific for
the what can be gained section. My statements were to generalized, and I needed to
have more specific statements. I will need to remember this as I progress through
my degree and refer to the SQ3R reading strategy. I also needed to improve on my
critically reflective paraphrasing.
Week Four: Analyze Research
Week four s assignment was learning how to use the online library and finding
sources. Overall, I understood how to use the online library, how to use search
limiters and key words, and how to define peer review. I found a relevant topic in

I mean by this is if you have your Yahoo account linked to Facebook and you read
an article, Yahoo will post something on Facebook saying you recently read a
certain article. Granted Yahoo gives you an option to show friends on Facebook
what you read or not, but websites such as SocialCam do not give you that option.
If you watch a video on SocialCam it will show on Facebook what you watched.
The reasons behind these actions are so friends will drive friends to read potential
stories and to drive people to the websites to gain more viewers. So they essentially
use your Facebook to further their website. Also websites can use recent trends
from your Facebook page to try to entice you with advertisements. The
advertisements may proclaim that friend of yours on Facebook uses a certain
product, or is interested in certain things that you may be interested in. Now which
one do I prefer? Personally they both have their downsides, but for ease of access I
actually prefer OAUTH. IT has its flaws, but so does any software or ease of access
program. Depending on how it is used, I would prefer to use it only to access certain
websites where I
Strategic Leadership
A. Describe strategic leadership in detail, the traits of strategic leadership, how they
differ from strategic management, and discuss the importance of strategic leadership
for the competitive success of a firm.
Strategic leadership is difficult to describe as a concept; however it is easy to
distinguish when it is in action. Leaders pay close attention to small details to ensure
that the big picture may one day become realized. Strategic leadership is being able to
develop competencies for dealing with extensive, new challenges of leading in the
industry that they are in. In an attempt to define strategic leadership I begin to define
the word strategy. Strategy is a plan of action for accomplishing a goal. Strategic ...

It seems that a leader has better interpersonal skills that enable them to get others to
do what they wish more easily. Both managers and leaders strive to achieve their
organizations goals however each tries to accomplish these goals differently. For
example a leader gives his followers empowerment which enables them willingly
follows and have a personal stake in acquiring those goals. A manager uses their
organizational power to dictate what should be done and when. Their authority
expects complete compliance from their subordinates. Managers and leaders scan
their external and internal environments for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
threats (SWAT analysis). Each motivates their subordinates in a different manner.
This is the point where leaders and managers get defined. If others internalize the
organization s goals and believe that they can help achieve them through hard work,
they have been inspired by leaders. If they are given orders and expected to comply
automatically, they are under the authority of a manager. The importance of strategic
management results in good organization conditions that include the devotion of its
employees to work hard and have good work ethics. They feel part of the
organization s success when it reaches its expectations.

Perseverance In Mother To Son By Langston Hughes
Throughout life, one will be challenged with hardships as they grow. Whether it be
something small or big; no matter what the situation is one must never give up. For
one to strive in life they must persevere through adversity. To begin with,
perseverance is described all throughout the poem by Langston Hughes. In, Mother
to Son , the mother guides her son to understand that life will not be an easy
experience. The mother describes life not to be a crystal staircase, but instead be a
worn out and painful staircase. Life for me ain t been no crystal stair. It s had tacks
in it, and splinters, and boards torn up... (Hughes). Although, the stairs were rough
and tough to walk on the mother persevered to get where she is now.
How Significant Was The Impact Of Prohibition In The

The noble experiment of Prohibition, a ban on the sale, transportation and
manufacture of alcohol. It was introduced because of the growing troubles in
America and many people believed that alcohol was the cause for all of people s

Germany and obviously after the First World War Germany were the enemy.
Alcohol also made workers less productive and reliable which had a significant
impact on society in America. However, how significant was the impact of
prohibition on US society between 1920 and 1933? Prohibition was introduced by

Disadvantages Of 4 White Powders
From the table four appropriate simple tests can be conducted in order to determine
the structure type and identify the four white powders. This includes conducting tests
of melting point, flame color, solubility and the conductivity in water (H20). The
melting point of a substance is the temperature at which the material changes from a
solid to a liquid state. The determination of melting points is a form of identification
and test method for organic substance. The melting point is an easy way measure and
classify substances. Testing the flamecolor is an appropriate test as metalions change
the color of a flame when they are heated. Different metal ions give different colors
to the flame. So flame tests can be used to identify the presence of a particular
metal in a sample. Solubility is appropriate as a solvent a substance will dissolve in
gives hints to its identity. Conductivity in water (H20) identifies if a substance is
ionic or molecular. If a solution of compound and water has high conductivity level,
the compound is ionic if not it is molecular.

sustain the kingdom s economy, but promoted the importation and exportation of
goods and the development of urban areas. King John s motives would later

Need For Extensive Training Working At Heights
When it comes to tree removal, unless you absolutely certain you know what you are
doing, it is essential you hire a professional to handle this service. In addition to the
need for extensive training working at heights requires, there are a number of other
fluctuating circumstances causing potential risks that only a trained professional is
prepared for. Because consumers want to ensure they are spending their money
wisely, one of the most prominent questions asked is when a treeshould be removed?
Ask yourself the following questions:
Do you see extensive damage on the tree from the ground? Elimination of a tree
should occur when at least 50% or more of the tree is damaged. While the tree
deteriorates, it could potentially survive for multiple years. However, its appearance
could become abnormal in addition to its growth.
Do you see vertical seams or cracks in the trunk? These issues, as well as stubs
from dead branches indicate decay is occurring from within the tree. If these issues
are occurring on less than 25% of the circumference of the tree s trunk, the internal

What Does Redeemer Mean In The Bible
What does redeemer mean in the Bible? This is one of the most important question
that needs to be answered. The Bible focuses mainly on redeemer and His
redemption for us. Redeemer definition means a person who redeems someone or
something . Jesus Christ redeems us from our sins by offering Himself. Whenever
we come across the word Redeemer as a Christian, we think of the sacrifice of the
Lord Jesus Christ. Father has to give up His only begotten son and Jesus had to shed
His precious blood to make redemption. It was not quite an easy task for both the
Father and Son. Father has to offer His only loving Son for the cause of the sins of
human beings. Heavenly Father was option less other than to offer up His son as a
living sacrifice. Creation
Social Media Negative Effects Essay
the time of terrorist attacks. They inform people of the location of the attack, and
of any safe locations people can evacuate to if needed. In areas high in earthquake
activity such as Indonesia, social media is used to warn people of potential
upcoming earthquakes. If an earthquake ends up striking an area, news of it is
quickly posted on social media, and groups are quickly assembled to carry natural
disaster cleanup. On a much lighter note, Vancouver uses social media to inform
people when garbage pick ups will take place (Guo). The world is slowly learning
to use social media more and more as a public service information delivery system,
whether it be for a surprising disastrous situation, or news for everyday life.
Negative Effects of Social Media Something has become a large part of the
modern home is the television. In fact, the average American spends a staggering
four hours and forty minutes in from of their TV set daily (Burtic). This issue is
especially troubling for children and teens. Spending hours and hours in front of a
television screen is very time and resource consuming. Young people could be better
their brains doing lots of other things, but instead are stuck watching essentially
useless entertainment. Families are also much less likely to socialize with one
another when a television is on in a room. This can cause young people to have
social issues and relationship issues later in life (Burtic). Although there are plenty of
positives to social media
Analysis Of The Reader A Small Place
Maddie Wiersma
Dr. Nicole Sheets
EL 347: Creative Nonfiction
11 November 2015
The Reader as You
Jamaica Kincaid immerses the reader into her essay A Small Place through the use
of second person point of view, continually referring to the reader as you. She
characterizes the reader as a tourist from a privileged Western nation and narrates the
experiences and thoughts of the reader while visiting Antigua for the first time. By
portraying the reader as the tourist through second person narrative, Kincaid criticizes
the ignorance of Eurocentric assumptions, as well as the total superficiality of
Western tourism. Ultimately, this technique allows her to capture her disdain for
Eurocentrism, alienating the reader from Antiguan culture.
In the first sentence of the essay, Kincaid promptly employs second person
narrative by addressing the reader, If you go to Antigua as a tourist, this is what
you will see (257). Immediately, Kincaid invites the reader into the essay, provoking
the audience to imagine themselves as tourists. The reader can relate to the tourist
and can identify with the excitement of traveling to a place where the sun always
shines and the climate is deliciously hot and dry for the four to ten days you are
going to be staying there... (257). However, Kincaid then confronts the reader with
the problems inherent in this egocentric way of thinking. She proceeds to call out the
reader s ignorance about the climate: since you are a tourist, the thought of what
Racism And Cultural Differences In Clint Eastwood s
Gran...
Gran Torino, directed by Clint Eastwood, is a very moving and captivating drama.
When the story opens we see Walt Kowalski residing on his front porch drinking
beer, while simultaneously watching the world with a squint and a torrent of harsh
criticism. Walt has essentially no remaining family members, as his wife had just
recently passed away, and he wants nothing to do with his two successful sons. It s a
story about tolerance and cultural differences, but also one of hope, and unlikely
friendships. The film focuses on an highly racist and violent Asian neighborhood.
Ever since the recent surge of immigrants the neighborhood has gone down hill a
great deal. Walt s neighbors are the Lors, a Hmong family, and Walt does not trouble

We Are One Gordon Fisher
15 YEARS OLD AND LIVING WITH ASPERGER S SYNDROME, GORDON
FISHER has MADE A FILM ABOUT BULLYING.
10/09/2015
On Monday, October 5th, 2015, when it is celebrated the anti bullying day, Gordon
Fisher published a film made by himself called We are one .
With the help of an old camera and his laptop, Gordon made the film We are one ,
where he attempts to make viewers get in the skin of a child (Gordon) being bullied
from 7 to 15 years old because of his condition. In only a couple of months he made
the film; and within days, the film became viral in YouTube, reaching 189.000.000
views.
Since he was three years old, he lived in the outskirts of London because his parents
had to move there because of work. He did not have man friends, and his parents

People with the same condition as Gordon tend to be self defeatingly awkward in
social situations, and romantic relationships can leave them at sea. For far as I can
remember, my classmates called me nerd , gay , piece of shit , and they
nicknamed me Gordon the weirdo all my life, said Gordon after the film was
finished. Gordon was bullied day by day during his life, and while making the
film, he wanted to kill himself, he says. We asked Gordon why did he make this
film, and he said: Well...when I was small, my parents didn t take care of me
enough and I didn t really trust them so I couldn t tell them what was going on.
Once, I was tired of arriving home and telling my parents that I had bruises because
I fell down, so I fought with the people who bullied me, with a Swiss army knife.
But this fight only made things worse because I was expelled from school one
week and the bully became worse. But one day I had the idea to make a film so
people could understand my
The Great Moai Statues Of Easter Island
Similarities and differences are what make things so interesting. Would you be
happy if everyone was the same. Every looked the same, and liked the same things
and hated the same things. No you wouldn t because you would want to be you and
no one can tell you what you want to be or what you don t want to be. Even the
buildings you make would be the same from a normal house to a normal office
building. The Panama Canalwas one of the most useful canals ever built and they
were made to for one reason and that was to transport goods. This was somethings
everyone needed to solve at that time(1900s). The great Moaistatues of Easter Island
are also great structures and are really tremendous to the eye. These buildings and
canals were made to one purpose they had to do somethings and that something was
to make things easier for the people. Some similarities they had were that they both
took a long time and sacrifice to build. A differencethey had was that they were built
for different purposes and they had their own different struggles.
Predominantly, The Panama Canal was one of the greatest structures built by
mankind. The Moai as well were something to be fascinated by because they were
beautiful creations made by us. The one thing they both have in common was that
they both took a long time to build. The Moai took approximately about 10 15
years to build and that was with the help of mana which was part of the belief and if
that wouldn t of existed it probably
What Is The Diegesis In The Third Man
viewer is in a state of suspense they are also more likely to appreciate the big reveals
that occur throughout the film.
The diegesis of the Third Man displays externally observable truths. The diegesis in
which the film takes place closely resembles what Vienna would have been like at
the time. The diegesis is first introduced at the very beginning of the film. A narrator
describes vienna and shows different parts of the city. This is important because it
introduces the physical structure of the city with its four different sectors. It also
introduces the presence of a black market, and when it shows a dead body floating in
the water the viewer understands that the city isn t necessarily safe.
In The Third Man Harry Lime is a foil character to Holly Martins. Though they
were close friends they appear to have nothing in common. Harry Lime is wealthy
because of his participation in the antibiotics black market. This wealth is apparent
when he pays for Martin s plane ticket. It is also apparent when the viewer sees his
living space. It is large and appears to be expensive. Holly Martins is ... Show more

This is best illustrated in the scene where he meets Lime in a ferris wheel. Martins
asks Lime if he knew about the police handing Anna over to the russians, and Lime
claims that there is nothing he could do. Martins appears to be shocked that Lime
wouldn t do anything to help a person he supposedly loved. This shock is furthered
when he discover that in order to protect himself he told the police about Anna.
Lime then justifies his illegal activities by claiming that no one actually cared
about people. He believed that his actions were worth it because he was able to
make money. To Martins who values the goodness in people, these actions were
unforgivable. Despite many years worth of good impressions, this one bad
experience was enough to change Martin s perception of Harry Lime into a bad
Jefferson Airplane Thesis
Patrick Burke s thesis is found towards the end of the first section. He stated he will
argue that the Airplane s references to black culture and politics were multifaceted
and involved both condescending or naГЇve radical posturing and sincere respect for
African American music. (66) He discussed the first part of his thesis in the
majority of his article. In one example of this, Burke states it was difficult to tell if
Jefferson Airplane were making fun of stereotypes or simply perpetuating them. (74)
In another example, Burke stated that Airplane would casually refer to African
Americans as a derogatory term in their interviews. His explanation for this was it
may have reflected a hip, ironic sense of superiority to racism, or perhaps... Show

(62) It was not, as many people first believed it to be, a simple replication of earlier
minstrelsy. (62) Burke argued against this point by stating that Slick was instead
influenced by other rock artists of the time. They cast themselves as political
revolutionaries by enacting a romanticized vision of African Americanidentity. (63)
Burke s final statement on the subject was that Slick s blackface may have seemed to
play at revolutionary policies by imitating African American radicals, but instead
exemplified the frequent emptiness and arrogance of rock s politics.
Wolves vs Humans
Wolves and humans have an ongoing battle between one another. Hunter vs the
hunted, humans are always the hunted and the wolf the hunter, but in an amazing
turn of events humans take matters into their own hands and become the hunters,
demolishing the danger that hunts them, the wolf. Wolves have been depicted as
voracious killers, for as long as I can remember, and we humans are the prey they
seek, victims of their sharp teeth and thirst for blood. The media does an
extraordinary job in representing the wolf as a killer, deceiver and danger. Wolves
however, were a symbol of life in the olden days, around 300 BC. It wasn t until
humans began to own farm lands that this battle, and stigma developed. Wolves no
longer became a symbol they idolized , but a symbol of terror and gruesome death.
As our societies developed, the media became part of our everyday life, resulting in
a new image. An image where the wolf, as a species, drastically changed. My visual
argument demonstrates three categories: Big Bad Wolf, Ranchers Eye, and Wolf as
Lamb. I hope to demonstrate the negative impacts that the media has created for
the wolf, as a result, helps reinforces the fears and beliefs we have as a society have
of wolves, negative associations that depict the wolf as evil, dangerous, and a threat
to our lives. Big Bad Wolf is the first category within my visual argument which
emphasizes the role that the media plays in representing wolves as rogue, vicious,
voracious killers,

The difficulty arises from the need to distill complex scientific concepts into digestible information for a broader audience, while maintaining the integrity of the subject matter. Firstly, one must possess a solid understanding of the scientific principles underpinning the chosen topic. This demands extensive research, delving into academic journals, textbooks, and reliable online sources to gather accurate and up-to-date information. The challenge lies not only in comprehending these intricate concepts but also in presenting them in a coherent and accessible manner. Additionally, striking the right tone is crucial. Balancing between being informative and engaging is a delicate task, as overly technical language may alienate non-expert readers, while oversimplification can compromise the essay's credibility. Achieving this balance requires a nuanced approach, considering the target audience's level of familiarity with scientific terminology. Furthermore, organizing the essay logically poses its own set of challenges. Connecting ideas cohesively and ensuring a smooth flow of information can be intricate, especially when dealing with multifaceted scientific topics. • 2. 1920s Flappers Research Paper The 1920s was the era of the Flapper. Young women started to cut their hair, shorten their skirts, so that they could more easily dance the wild, flapping dances of the age (hence the term flapper ). They drank and smoked and wore makeup, and went out with boys without a chaperone. They played sports, golf, tennis, and swimming were all very popular. Sunbathing became popular with womenfor the first time. Women enjoyed driving automobiles, and many women took to flying aeroplanes. Although many girls still went to college, the number was lower than in the pre WW1 era, and there was a decline of interest in careers among young women. Most women worked until they got married, but far fewer women were interested in staying single and pursuing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Singing In The Rain Analysis The film Singing in the Rain was produced in 1952 but still takes the world with storm. The musical film, which was directed by Gene Kelly and Donen Stanley stars Donald O Connor, Gene Kelley, Jean Hagen, and Debbie Reynolds has a lot for the audiences to desire and learn from. The film presents a skillful use of setting, music, makeup, costumes and standard photography (Cannon 2). The piece combines many effects together to catch the attention of the audiences. In fact, the viewers enjoy both the musical part and the visual element separately, something that makes it a well thought piece. In other words, it is both a romantic piece, though a smog as well. Being a musical film, Singing in the Rain represents a classical music, making it an
  • 4. Merton s Strain Theory Of Deviance And Labelling Theory The comparison and contrast between Merton s strain theory of deviance and Labelling theory. In this essay, the comparison between and contrast between strain theory and labelling theory. The essay will start with the key features of each theory and then it will go into the main comparison of the two theories. It will go into to detail on the similarities and differences between the two theories. Strain theory is the theory developed in 1938 by Robert K Merton. It s the theory that society puts pressure on people to achieve socially accepted goals. Labelling theory is the theory that the public act in the way that society has labelled them, which gives negative connotations towards that person. Both the theories, judge crime on the type of people and how they have been deemed, both theories try to explain crime from social perspectives. Labelling theory is the view of deviance according to which being labelled as a deviant leads a person to engage in deviant behaviour. This states that if a person were to labelled as a thief, that person would be treated different (looked down upon). This could leave this person to do what they are labelled as and commit theft. This is backed up with study.com s definition of labelling theory, which states people become criminals when labelled as such and when they accept the label as personal identity . This moves into strain theory as the strain theory cultural theory as in Merton s strain theory argues that the American cultural
  • 5. Using Photovoltaic Pv Or Wind Turbine Connecting any generator in parallel into the local final circuit with another source however has several implications in terms of electric shock protection. The most important are the safety to the service s staff, public and the users of the generator. In order to evade the risk of electric shock, the users mentioned above should be informed of an operational generator (Small Scale Embedded Generator SSEG) through labels, so they can take their precautions. The main source supply and SSEG must be isolated prior to any electrical work installation/connection. The SSEG should not have its own earth if connected parallel to another source (British Standard, 2008). The recommended parallel connection with LV distribution systems for a type... The TT System of Earthing is not suitable where a TN C S system is available it s only used in old installation or rural parts of the country where overhead cable supplies are used. The associated earth fault loops with the TT System of Earthing is that the exposed conductive metalwork causes a fault current to flow through it to earth and return to the source via a general mass of earth (Figure 1). It is anticipated that the level of fault current will cause the RCD to trip or to blow the fuse in the time indicated in the ETCI rules. At 230 Volts its 5 seconds for fixed equipment, 0.4 seconds for portable equipment, socket outlets and 0.4 seconds for fixed equipment in bathrooms. The main disadvantage of the TT system connection of protecting against indirect contact is that the earth fault path resistance could easily allow a continual earth fault to exist which may well be lethal or causes fire. The TN C S system of earthing has the main earth terminal connected to the supply neutral and the earth electrode. When the load fault to earth occurs it turn into a fault to the incoming neutral and the fault route resistance is a lot lower than the TT system. A large current will flow which causes the RCD to trip within the specified time (Figure 2). f Question 2 It is required to comply with
  • 6. Criminal Court Reflection Arguably, the criminal court is the most important aspect of the criminal justice system. After all, [t]he criminal court is the setting in which many of the most important decisions in the criminal justice system are made. Eyewitness identification, bail, trial, plea negotiations, and sentencing all involve court decisions (Siegel Worrall, 2016, p. 156). Naturally, I decided to experience the criminal court in all its glory, as the court is such a focal point for the decisions in the criminal justice system. I went to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida to observe [criminal trials, juryselection, arraignments, and pleanegotiations...], specifically to the Criminal Courthouse Annex across from the Edgecomb Courthouse. During the call, a seasoned employee signals that the caller conveys strong characteristic traits of schizophrenia; however, had no electronically means to confirm. This individual was extremely violent during the call, suffering from severe hallucinations/delusions, breaking objects, and screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs. Events such as this require the undivided attention of the Recovery Specialist, as he or she is actively engaging with the caller, in the attempt to rationalize their delusional thoughts; hence, suicide intervention/prevention. Throughout the call, this individual states that due to the inadequacy of family support, caller feels that by consuming large quantities of pills, family members will then have to pay more attention to the callers physiological needs. • 8. Virgin By Annibal The Coronation of the Virgin is an oil on canvas art piece which was painted by Annibale Carracci, an Italian painter. The oil on the canvas is a slow drying paint paste made with ground pigment and a drying oil such as the commonly used linseed oil. What many people don t know is that the Columbian government is actively trying to put a stop to this drug trade. The extent of the drug education in America is that they are bad and not to do them. No course in the public school system goes into detail about what these drugs actually do. Many people will argue that kids do not need to learn this information because they will not understand it. What this means is that you have children who get addicted to these drugs and then carry their addictions with them throughout adulthood. This is where an impact can actually be made In order to disrupt the cocaine supply chain, we need to focus on the demand aspect. If you can get rid of the demand of something, then there will be no reason to supply it. one of the first things that you learn in businesses is the supply demand model. This is a tool that suppliers can use to make sure that you can meet the demand. By lowing the demand money would be wasted on producing a product that nobody

At that time, Bill Gates and his friend Paul Allen made the commitment to learn BASIC by reading the user manuals. After a successful demonstration of the code, Gates made the decision to leave school and move to Albuquerque and work with MITS on the Altair. After the move Gates would devote his energies to Microsoft, a company that he would establish in 1975 with Allen. Guided by a belief that the computer would be a valuable tool on every office desktop and in every home, they began developing software for personal computers. Microsoft would sell its BASIC system to MITS, NCR and Intel. It proved to be more cost effective for companies to buy Microsoft software rather than spend the time and money to develop their own. In January of 1979, Gates made the decision to move Microsoft to Seattle, Washington. Gates believed that part of the country was better suited for recruiting programmers. Microsoft adopted a new standard for hiring employees; the company decided to hire only the most gifted and intelligent new college graduates rather than experienced programmers. The company was looking for talent that came with no previous programming biases. The expansions of personnel would lead to the development of a

She returns once more, this time with glowing jungle green eyes instead of blue, symbolizing her complete entrance into war (101). She is now one with the green mountains of Vietnam. She has now decided that the war is more important than getting married, starting a family, or even going home. This decision was made time and time again by millions of young men who had gone to Vietnam as a consequence of having their birth on the wrong day. For instance, Canadian women in the work force are treated unequally in contrast to men in regards to opportunity, advancement, and salary. It is due to lack of equality within the work field that Canada still requires feminism. The first woman elected into Canadian government, Agnes McPhail, marked history in the year of 1921. It is possible to assume that female dominated jobs aren t viewed as of equal importance than men dominated jobs, this is because society still considers the majority of female occupations girly and more domesticated (Canadian Women s Foundation, 2014). Whereas less females are being appointed to jobs of higher pay with more labour work, such as construction, or of importance, like a lawyer. The most important and successful treatment is that of starting treatment with DMARDs (disease modifying ant rheumatic drugs) that not only relieve the symptoms of RA, but also slow down the progression of the disease itself. Anti inflammatory drugs have also proven to be successful in managing symptoms of RA. (Eric Ruderman, 2013).. Delian League Research Paper The Delian League was an alliance of eastern Greek city states formed in 478 BCE, to protect the rights and interests of those states against additional attacks from the Persians, following the battles of Marathon, Salamis, and Plataea (Cartlwright, 2016). How successful that alliance was is a matter of perspective and timeline. Image of the Delian League ((Gill, 2017). There is an old Latin phrase attributed to the Roman general Vegetius, if you want peace, prepare for war (Gill, 2017b), which has commonly been abbreviated to Peace through strength . As a direct result of their combined strength, the Delians defeated the Persia in a series of decisive battles, ending with the battle of Eurymedon in 466. According to Samons (1998), Kimon, Kallias and Peace with Persia, these victories lead directly to a peace treaty being signed by the Persian Emperor Xerxes prior to his death in 465 BCE (p. 129). A Professor Of Psychology At A University A professor of psychology at a university in a large metropolitan area would be at risk of violating several codes of ethics if he tells his abnormal psychology class that he is a psychotherapist in private practice and that they can come to him for therapy during the duration of the semester. Several problems can occur as a result of the professor s solicitation of his service as a psychotherapist to his students (5.6, American Psychological Association, 2002). By assuming two professional roles with his students the professor is clearly engaged in multiple relationships (3.5, American Psychological Association, 2002). The students are at risk of being exploited by their professor. The professor has knowledge of his student s deepest thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences. This personal information can be used to manipulate the student s behavior in a classroom setting (3.8, American Psychological Association, 2002). If the professor is aware of a student s fear of public speaking the professor can possibly use this information to punish the student. The students may also feel that their therapy session influences the outcome of their psychologyclass. The students may feel that they received a bad grade or a good grade because of the outcome of their therapy session. This creates pressure for the students to regulate their therapy session in accordance to what they think will affect their grade in class. This can lead to a lack of willingness to share
  • 22. `` Pride `` By John Aquinas When one hears the word pride , one would rarely imagine a modest person who devotes their time to volunteer work and philanthropy. Typically, one would picture an arrogant politician or a movie star, a person so self absorbed that they almost entirely ignore the needs of those around them. However, even the humblest acts of virtuecan arise from prideas well. The story of Icarus, the boy who became entranced with his own pride and flew too close to the sun, is told time and time again; however, there is another story of pride one hears less often, the person who takes pride in their own humility. Rather than take pride in typical attributes such as wealth, prestige, or even appearance, these people take pride in their modesty and virtue. In this way, pride comes from an unexpected source and is difficult to avoid since it takes occasion even from good deeds (Aquinas 7). While the other six deadly sins present both helpful and harmful characteristics of the sin, pride is complex in corrupting even the most well intentioned actions. At first, it would seem that humility would be the opposite of pride since it is defined as, having a lowly opinion of oneself ( Humility ). However, there are also occasions in which a person corrupts the virtue by using it to enhance their image and view it as an example of their own excellence. For example, although most of those volunteering at the soup kitchen want to improve their community or provide to those less fortunate, there

Solitary confinement is the total isolation of inmates who are feared for being a danger to society, the prison system itself for 23 hours a day from days to even decades. Solitary confinement was established in the 1800 s, where it initially started off as an experiment but is now being used as a first resort instead of being used for the worst possible scenarios for many correction facilities in North America to this present day. The Organisation and Delivery of Child Welfare Services Child welfare services in the UK are funded by the child benefit programme. Child benefit has been integral to the income of families throughout the UK for more than three decades now and it still prioritises poor children in the benefits and tax system. A universal child benefit programme assists in the redistribution of resources from taxation (Lewis, 2008, p. 126). Child benefit supplanted a tax allowance programme for parents, but was changed into a payment scheme due to the fact that tax allowances mostly give advantage to primary earners (Farthing, 2012, p. 4 5). Child benefit is given to the primary caregiver, generally mothers. Almost all European countries provide a universal child tax allowance or child benefit. But the UK is starting to move away from this tradition. Child benefit is a way of guaranteeing that the entire society is involved in the promotion of children s wellbeing, especially those living in poverty. But the UK government has recently reformed the child benefit scheme, away from the universal benefit model. Instead of simply giving fewer allowances to parents the government will keep on paying the total cost and claw back through taxation (Farthing, 2012, p. 5). Glutamate Transmission Genetically encoded fluorescent probe for visualizing glutamate neurotransmission in organotypic hippocampal slices Neurotransmission plays an essential role in communication between neurons. In such process, neurotransmitters are released by the axon terminal and those bind to a receptor on the dendrite of another neuron. Among all neurotransmitters, glutamate is the most significant one in vertebrates. It is used in a large percentage of circuits in the cerebral cortex that support learning and complex behaviors. Modifications to transmission of glutamate will affect the function of neural circuits on a large scale in the brain.[1] Glutamate transmission can be studied at the level of individual dendritic sites. • 37. Disadvantages Of 4 White Powders From the table four appropriate simple tests can be conducted in order to determine the structure type and identify the four white powders. This includes conducting tests of melting point, flame color, solubility and the conductivity in water (H20). The melting point of a substance is the temperature at which the material changes from a solid to a liquid state. The determination of melting points is a form of identification and test method for organic substance. The melting point is an easy way measure and classify substances. Testing the flamecolor is an appropriate test as metalions change the color of a flame when they are heated. Different metal ions give different colors to the flame. So flame tests can be used to identify the presence of a particular metal in a sample. Solubility is appropriate as a solvent a substance will dissolve in gives hints to its identity. Conductivity in water (H20) identifies if a substance is ionic or molecular. If a solution of compound and water has high conductivity level, the compound is ionic if not it is molecular. Analysis Of The Reader A Small Place Maddie Wiersma Dr. Nicole Sheets EL 347: Creative Nonfiction 11 November 2015 The Reader as You Jamaica Kincaid immerses the reader into her essay A Small Place through the use of second person point of view, continually referring to the reader as you. She characterizes the reader as a tourist from a privileged Western nation and narrates the experiences and thoughts of the reader while visiting Antigua for the first time. By portraying the reader as the tourist through second person narrative, Kincaid criticizes the ignorance of Eurocentric assumptions, as well as the total superficiality of Western tourism. Ultimately, this technique allows her to capture her disdain for Eurocentrism, alienating the reader from Antiguan culture. In the first sentence of the essay, Kincaid promptly employs second person narrative by addressing the reader, If you go to Antigua as a tourist, this is what you will see (257). Immediately, Kincaid invites the reader into the essay, provoking the audience to imagine themselves as tourists. The reader can relate to the tourist and can identify with the excitement of traveling to a place where the sun always shines and the climate is deliciously hot and dry for the four to ten days you are going to be staying there... (257). However, Kincaid then confronts the reader with the problems inherent in this egocentric way of thinking. She proceeds to call out the reader s ignorance about the climate: since you are a tourist, the thought of what
