The Industries Experiment On The Planet
The Industries Experiment on the Planet
Data was collected in several locations: a natural forest, a clear cut, and a plantation. Within these
spaces, the five bodily senses sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste helped to identify how each
location felt overall. In addition to the raw data collected, further analysis was undertaken using
information obtained in class. Ideas within the course were applied to the three locations, and an
analysis of the course content was applied to everyday problems concerning environmental issues
that stem from greenhouse gas emissions caused by mega industries. The world s largest and most
polluting industries are playing a dangerous game, lining their pockets at the expense of the planet

Greed is the main driving force behind industries that profit from deforestation, damage to the
natural world and climate are the collateral damage. The clear cut area lacked both fauna and
flora. In the distance, the chirping of birds could be heard, but it was quite faint. The smell of
trees and fresh dirt lingered slightly; it was dry on the ground, and the area felt as though it was
barely hanging on to any semblance of its former life. There was a great feeling of emptiness and
sadness. The point of herbicides is to kill off the broad leaf trees, so that the needle trees would not
be required to fight for space and survival. (Davies, 2016)
Plantation UNB Woodlot The plantation was difficult to spot amongst the many other trees. A
search throughout a thin trail system was needed in order to locate one. Whilst stepping into the
plantation, there was a great probability of overlooking it as simply another section of natural
forest. Although there were many trees that resembled one another, it was surrounded by
natural forest, so it blended in. The three ways to tell that an area has been converted into a
plantation are: (a) if the trees are quite evenly spaced, (b) if there are more of one species of tree
than others, and (c) if there are no broadleaf trees or they are sparse and very small. One could
hear the sounds of birds chirping and woodpeckers nearby, and the smell was strong of pine, as it
was a pine plantation. The general

Trauma and Adult Learning Essay
Trauma and Adult Learning
Effects of Trauma on Learning
Adults experiencing the effects of past or current trauma may display such symptoms as difficulty
beginning new tasks, blame, guilt, concern for safety, depression, inability to trust (especially those
in power), fear of risk taking, disturbed sleep, eroded self esteem/confidence, inability to
concentrate, or panic attacks (Mojab and McDonald 2001). Some people may manifest no
symptoms; at the other end of the spectrum is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, characterized by
flashbacks, avoidance, numbing of responsiveness (including substance abuse), persistent
expectation of danger, constriction (dissociation, zoning out), and memory impairment (Isserlis
2001).
It may not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A number of authors urge reframing of these discourses:
Instead of diagnosing and treating victims, find ways to make the learning environment safer for
everyone (Horsman 1997).
Recognize the role of power in limiting individual agency and choice and the ways in which
institutions make personal and structural violence possible and legitimize it (Pearce 1999).
Acknowledge the hidden learning that occurs through traumatic experiences (Horsman 2000b;
Williamson 2000).
What is learned from trauma and how might educators respond? Studies of people enduring
extreme situations suggest that learning is a key to survival in adversity (Williamson 2000).
Successful learning is supposed to occur when conditions are right: accessible opportunities, time,
appropriate support, safety, motivation, risks with manageable consequences (ibid.). Yet in extreme
situations, learning must take place quickly and without the right conditions. What is learned in
response to trauma is influenced by prior knowledge, background, familial and social relationships,
and personal qualities and abilities (Pearce 1999; Williamson 2000). This is not to blame the
victim for inappropriate learning or responses, but to underscore the importance of resources and
support and the recognition that learning has to be geared to meet a range of individual needs.
Some of the hidden learning from trauma includes the following:
All or nothing reactions such as shifting between

The ramifications of an individual s discovery can change their perspective of themselves and the
world.
Discuss this statement with detailed reference to your TWO prescribed text.
The ramifications of an individual s discovery has the potential to change their perspective of
themselves and the world. Robert Frost shows how the ramifications of his personas discovery can
change their outlook of themselves and the wider society through highlighting the importance of
human relationships in his texts The Tuft of Flowers and Mending Wall . However the different
personas of these texts are seen to gain contrasting changes in their perspective. In The Tuft of
Flowers the persona is seen to gain a positive outlook through the ramifications of ... Show more

Mending Wall begins with the persona who desires companionship and wants to create a
connection with his neighbour. It is seen that through the ramifications of discovery, the persona
is confronted which leads to him forming a negatively changed perspective of himself and his
neighbour. His desire to engage and create a connection with his neighbour is conveyed through
his constant questioning of the need for a wall. He asks questions such as Before I built a wall, I
d ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out , which allows him to realise that walls
prevent and hinder connections. As a result of this, he attempts to convince his neighbour and
show him how walls are useless and needless in society. Through the analogy he is all pine and I
am apple orchard/My apple trees will never get across the persona tries to further convince his
neighbour to remove the wall which hinders human connection. However the neighbour uses the
aphorism Good fences make good neighbors throughout the poem to respond to the questioning of
the persona which shows how he is incapable of making a connection due to his lack of
understanding. The wall in this poem symbolically shows the barriers which are present in society
which prevent and hinder communication and

Conformity In The Lottery
Conformity, the act of mimicking a groups behavior, attitudes, or beliefs. Is this a positive or
negative thing? Others may say that it s a positive thing because it was the foundation of modern
laws, but that was a very long time ago, does this positive light on conformity still apply?
Conformity is a negative thing because the Holocaust, Tessie Hutchinson was stoned to death, and
the mere presence of friends influences risk taking, and all three of these examples start with the
same thing, Conformity. First of all, The Holocaust started when a large group of German soldiers
had conformed to their leader, Hitler, and continuously followed orders to the dot, mostly out of
fear of being executed. While some may say they were following orders to save themselves, were
their lives worth the lives of the millions of people that they killed by just following orders ?...

some may say that The Lottery is just a Story, it shows the negative side of conformity pretty

The Three Levels Of Standardness In English
The three levels of standardness in English are formal standard English, informal standard
/mainstream English, and vernacular English (Wolfram Schilling, 2016). Based in written
language, formal standard English is greatly enforced in formal institutions such as schools and is
codified in English grammar texts. It is resistant to change and only used in formal written or
spoken language (Wolfram Schilling, 2016). Informal standard English exists on a continuum in
which speakers are judged to be more or less standard. A speaker s perceived level of standardness
is flexible and subjective, and dependent on the speaker and listener s experiences, regional and
social backgrounds, preconceptions, and prejudices. Informal standard English... Show more content

The speaker s speech is 100% rhotic, and almost all ( removed HTML ) sounds are pronounced.
The few occasions where pronunciations were different were single occurrences that were later
correctly pronounced. There were some instances in which the speaker s grammar may be
considered vernacular, such as like I say [like I said] or he s done real well [he s done really
well]. However, these were not systematic and perhaps not as stigmatized as non standard in
comparison to grammatical structures such as double negatives.
The five historical explanations for US dialects given by Wolfram and Schilling (2016) are
settlement, migration, geography, contact, and economic ecology and social stratification. The
explanations for the dialect of my DARE speaker include settlement and migration.
My speaker lives in the West dialect region. The western coast was the last area in North
America to be reached in the gradual westward expansion of English speaking settlement (Labov,
Ash Boberg, 2006). Because of this, the dialect of the West region has a mixture of linguistic
patterns from regions across the United States (Labov, Ash Boberg, 2006) and is the least likely
to be affected by the founder effect and/or other characteristics of the native languages of settlers
(Wolfram Schilling, 2016) . It is also arguable that speakers of the West region dialect does not
speak in a variety the same way that a speaker from the Appalachian region might.

Pliny s The Alexander Mosaic
The Alexander Mosaic is a Roman floor mosaic that dates from c. 100 B.C. It is discovered in
the city of Pompeii which was preserved in ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. It was found
in the House of Faun, named after the bronze statue of a faun found there. It is thought to be
possibly based on a wall painting done in 315 B.C.E., Hellenistic Period by a Greek artist named
Philoxenos of Eretria because it matches a description of the painting written by Pliny.
The mosaic is approximately 2.72 by 5.13 meters (8 feet 11 inches high and 16 feet and 10
inches) long. It is currently housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, Italy. It
consisted of over one and a half million tesserae (From the Greek word tesseres which means
square .), or small pieces of colored stone and glass, none larger than 4 mm, in four colors: white,
yellow, red, and black. Several of the colors seen in the mosaic are the natural color of the marble
pieces. The minuteness of the tesserae enables noticeably quality detail and painterly outcomes,

Urban families have no qualms sending their girls to school and more and more rural families are
also sending their girls to schools. This changing social trend is reflected by the indicators. The
girls to boys enrolment ratio in primary schools in 1990 was 0.56 but in 2005 was 0.86. 9 Similarly,
the ratios for secondary schools in 1990 was 0.43 and rose to 0.82 in 2005.9 The ratio for tertiary
level education in 1990 was 0.32 9 and in 2008 was 0.41.10 Ratio of literate women to men in the
age group of 15 to 24, the second indicator, has also jumped from 0.48 in 1990 to 0.73 in 2005.9
A simple strategy adopted by the Nepali government to get more girls in rural areas to attend
schools was the Deworming Programme, combined with other simple measures such as school
meals and take home rations. This has also improved their drop out and retention rates. In 2000 a
pilot project in Nepali schools, involving deworming tablets, a hot noon meal and food gifts for
girls to take home, resulted in a 43% growth in school enrolment by girls. In addition, anaemia
decreased.11 Media campaigns highlighting the advantages of having educated females in the
family have also helped.
As more women get educated and become teachers, professionals and educated mothers; the road to

Beach Boys Caroline
For this week s listening journal, I listened to Caroline No by The Beach Boys. There are many
characteristics of this piece that stood out to me, such as the relationship between the lyrics and
the musical quality and the musical elements that set the tone of the music. At the exposition of
Caroline No there is an eerie drum and cymbal introduction that has a sort of call and response
relationship. The cymbals would play a short melody and the drum beat would follow, this
exchange occurred a couple of times. This exchange between the cymbals and the drums made
the piece seem melancholic and mysterious and sets the mood for the rest of the song. The
quality of the voice was interesting because it was unlike most songs of The Beach Boys I have
heard of before. Throughout the song, The Beach Boys have a slow and relaxing tempo that does
not shift as the piece progresses. For the most part, the tempo remains steady and slow. This steady
tempo is accompanied by lyrics that relate to the overall melancholic mood of the song. The song
talks about a girl named Caroline that used to be a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first verse, at the end of each line there is rhyme. For example, where did your long hair
go, where is the girl that I used to know, how could you lose that happy glow, oh Caroline no.
The words go, know, glow and no all rhyme with each other. This is also present in the second
verse between the words away and say. Furthermore, the last word of each line is sung with
melisma. For instance, the word know is sung with several notes to one syllable. This musical
element adds to the smooth and earthy timbre of The Beach Boys. Also, there is falsetto and
harmony throughout Caroline No. The Beach Boys appear to sing above their normal range and
this further contributes to the smooth and melancholic musical quality. All the singers in The
Beach Boys sing in harmony to a beat in

Similarities Between Bible And Enuma Elish
The New International Version (NIV) Bible from the Hebrew religion and the Enuma Elish
poem from the Babylonian religion, tell two different ways of how the universe was created. The
Bible is more specific and gives a step by step account for the creation of the universe. However,
the Enuma Elish is vague and does not include details on how they believe the universe was
created. The only similarity between the Babylonian and Hebrew account for the creation of man is
that both religions state a godcreated the universe.
The New International Version (NIV) Bible, specifically states in the book of Genesis that God
created the universe by stating, Let there be... and there was. It is written that God said, Let
there be light and there was light. (NIV Bible, Genesis 1:3) God said, Let there be a vault
between the waters to separate water from water and there was a vault. (NIV Bible, Genesis 1:6)
God continued to speak commands for a total of six days until the universe and everything in it
was created. On the other hand, the poem Enuma Elish states that Marduk, the creator god, kills
Tiamat, a primordial goddess of the ocean, and from her body fashions the world. (The Norton
Anthology, pg. 34) Next, Marduk creates the netherworld which is a mythic place of ... Show more

Comparing Dido And Aeneas
Don t you just hate it when your mom makes the queen of Carthage fall in love with you? Yeah,
so did Aeneas. Just kidding. He didn t actually hate it. Aeneas just has better things to do, like
discover the great city of Rome. Aeneas decision to leave his love, Dido, is completely justified due
to his great sense of pietas and their uncertain relationship status.
As a direct offspring of Venus, one of the more powerful gods, Aeneasis a man who values the gods
powers deeply. His sense of pietas is intense throughout the epic, especially in book four, when he
has to leave Dido in order to fulfill his duty to the gods. Dido s furor, or passion, is a great
contrast to Aeneas sense of duty. When Dido and Aeneas publically come out as couple, both of

it pains him to leave Dido in such negative emotions. This is a painful decision for Aeneas; he has
to try to suppress the love in his heart (4.377). Virgil continues on and says although great love has
shaken his soul, he obeys the gods will and returns to the fleet (4.458 459). This emphasis on how
Aeneas must obey the gods further justifies his leaving of the city of Carthage and his

Cellar Doors. Agricultural Activities Land Land is a crucial input to a start up boutique winery,
and as previously discussed can also provide a significant barrier to entry. From the supplier
perspective, the bargaining power of the purchaser is highly dependant on the present market rates
as well as current government restrictions on the use of land and the subsequent availability of
licenses . The availability and location to prime market areas and geographic resources (such as
water supply) drive the market elasticity demand factors governing land price. As such, site
selection, soil profile and climate , all critical to wine flavor and quality, will (thanks to

Whether Aphrodisiacs Pose A Mental Or Physical Stimulation...
Aphrodisiacs in the Body and Mind
An Aphrodisiac is defined a substance such as foods, drinks, or drugs, that cause or increase sexual
desire (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). This paper will investigate whether aphrodisiacs pose a mental or
physical stimulation on the human body. It has been recorded that in multiple points of history,
many things were considered aphrodisiac, some of these things include potatoes. Aphrodisiacs
have Greek origins, deriving from the Greek word aphryodisiakos meaning sexual gem with
aphrodisiac properties, from aphrodisiac heterosexual pleasures form the neuter plural of
aphrodisios of Aphrodite; greek goddess of love and fertility (Aphrodisiacs, n.d.). The first
aphrodisiac recorded in human history was body odor, and potions were sold in ancient Rome.
Aphrodisiacs were considered a threat to chastity after the Roman Empire ended, which prompted
the church to outlaw several aphrodisiacs. Western civilizations such as the Incans and Aztecs used
aphrodisiacs for reproductive purposes and Asia utilized plants and insects as aphrodisiacs in order
to increase their sexual libido. Aphrodisiacs have shown to be dynamic in culture and practices,
and also in the utilization within diverse groups of people. Aphrodisiacs remain a topic of study
for researches today, as they explore how various senses of the body affect sexual arousal. Asia is
believed to be the top consumer of aphrodisiacs, while other countries believe the concept of

Factors In Abu Ghraib And The Stanford Prison Experiment
Introduction The events that took place in Abu Ghraib and the disastrous results of the Stanford
prison experiment are related because of their determining factors. The drastic actions that took
place can be tied into the routine activities theory. As stated previously, these events are based on
not having anyone suitable in control, which can also tie into the mistreatment of children or the
elderly by their in home care person(s). What took place? From what we know of these two horrible
events, we can determine that they can both be summarized as the disgusting mistreatment of
human lives. The strange thing is, that though they are so similar in fundamental reasoning, they
occurred under drastically different situations and time periods. The earlier incident, The Stanford
prison experiment, took place in the summer of 1971. (Haney, Zimbardo, 2008) The experiment
was carried out by the psychology department of Harvard, students and some administrators from
the psych. department turned certain floors of their building into a make shift jail. This jail had
multiple cells, cots for prisoners, even a solitary confinement room. These areas were actually just
offices and closets that had been transformed to make the experiment seem more real for the
participants. Said participants were young males that applied to be in the experiment and were
payed for their participation. The young men were randomly assigned to their placement as guard

Internet Censorship In China
The technology revolution is already upon us. In today s world we are able to communicate over
thousands of miles within seconds, whereas only 100 years ago it would take months. This is all
due to computer technology and the creation of the internet. The internet connects billions of users
worldwide and is an essential part of how we work, play, communicate, educate, conduct commerce,
and much much more. We literally use the internetto do most of our daily tasks and we are now
able to do more things that used to seem unimaginable. This of course, comes with the good and
the bad. During the past decade, our society has become obsessed on the ability to move large
amounts of information across large distances as quickly as possible (Warf). Computerization and

Many countries like China, already limit what negative political ads there are on the internet in the
name of security and social stability. The Chinese government mandates users of the Internet and e
mail to register within the government itself, so that they can monitor their internet activities
(King). That seems more like an authoritarian government than communism. Even in the United
Kingdom, which we sometimes view similar to the US in political ideology, have state secrets and
personal attacks off limits on the Internet. But since the internet is a global system, many citizens
within these oppressive countries have used smartphone technology, specifically VPN, to override
their government s big brother eyes. Using a virtual private network (VPN) enables the user to send
and receive data across shared or public networks as if their device was directly connected to
another network. In other words, someone in China can use a VPN to make it seem like they were
connecting to the internet via another location or even country with less

5)What concerns should have been raised in the following areas of risk assessment in Adelphia

business, restructurings, and foreign operations?
In regards to the operating environment, there should be transparency and control not centralized
on those from the Riga s family. Opportunities should have been given independent individuals new
in the company, to be able to bring in new ideas. In regards to restructuring and foreign operations,
management would have thought of restructuring the whole company, where full reliance is not

Smart Enough Women
In part I of the psychology in media project I reviewed the article Why Young Girls Don t Think
They are Smart Enough written by Sarah Jane Leslie and Andrei Cimpain. The authors of this
article explored the psychological research they conducted along with Lin Bian which is aimed at
discovering the underlying cause for the disparities between men and women across academic
disciplines. In the media article published in the New York Timesthe authors concluded that
stereotypesare mainly to blame for these disparities. They also noted that these social stereotypes
start affecting girls as young as the age of six, and that the shift in thought is drastic. In a more
formal report which they published in Science Magazine, through a set of... Show more content on

The writers do also state alternatives for the results of studies one to four, among them that boys
are held back which may inflate confidence and women s modesty norms. They also give reason
for why these alternatives are not possible. The writers omit writing about the alternatives all
together in the media article. All in all, I believe that both works are very well written informative
pieces. Both are concise, easy to read, and very get to the point. The main difference is that the
media article pushes a call to action by stating suggesting methods in which we can change how this
brilliance=males stereotype is affecting young girls. This is definitely an understandable difference
due to the fact that the media article is directed towards the general public, while the science
journal is mostly directed towards the scientific community. I believe that the writers did a fantastic
job in the NY times article, however I believe that the article would have benefitted from using more
real life anecdotes to show the extent to which this brilliance=males stereotype can affect women.
Altogether, I strongly agree with both the media article and the scientific journal, something has to

Short Story Of TrГЁ s Husband

The words seemed to mock him. To TrГЁ s utter anguish, that was all he ever had been. All he

Essay On 12 Ways Spoonies Cope With Chronic Illness
12 Ways Spoonies Cope With the Stress of Chronic Illness
As I ve mentioned in earlier posts, Instagram has become an absolute treasure trove of practical
information for people living with chronic illness. Here are 12 ways spoonies just like you cope
with the stress of living with an invisible illness while having fun at the same time!
Being Stubborn
When living with a chronic illness, stubbornness can be both your best and your worst asset. On the
one hand, you re incredibly determined to not let your condition get the best of you, on the other,
you tend to overdo it.
Still, being tenacious and having a fighting spirit is one of the most effective ways to cope with the
stress of chronic illness.

Using Social Media
Connecting with others who understand exactly what you re going through can be a life saver.
There is a very large and accepting group of people on social media websites like Facebook,
Twitter, and Instagram who continually support each other and help ease the burden of daily pain.
Look for hashtags such as, #spoonie, #chronicillness, #chronicpain, and #chroniclife.
Watching Mindless Movies
Distracting yourself from your pain can be a very healthy way to cope with the stress of living
with a chronic illness.
Watching a movie you don t have to pay attention to, means you have two socially acceptable hours
to stare at one fixed object, let your mind wander, and relax.
(Alternatively, you can get lost in the ridiculous plot and forget your troubles for a while.)
Napping Like It s Your Job
I don t know about you, but napping is, by far, my favorite way to cope with my fatigue, anxiety,
and feelings of overwhelm. When things get to be too much, I slip in my earbuds, turn on some
soothing music, recline in my chair, and take a nap.
Sleeping, like crying, is not a sign of weakness or laziness. It s simple self care, and it s important to
engage in it regularly.
Setting and Accomplishing Small Goals
Another piece of useful advice I got from a fellow spoonie is setting small goals.

Why I Am A Pharmacy Technician For Cvs Pharmacy
My primary interest in a career in Pharmacy came from an overall interest in medicine and health
care in general. As a third grader, I had the first severe asthma attack that I can remember that
caused the first of several hospital stays. By happenstance, that time sparked my curiosity about
medicine. As an eight year old, I wondered just how this magical mist that came through a mask
was able to give me a freedom to breath that my body wasn t couldn t give me on its own.
Throughout high school and the beginning of college, I tailored my education to focus on biology
and medicine, as well as finding time to interact with patients as I pursued a career in medicine.
However, it was not until I began working as a pharmacytechnician for CVS Pharmacy that I came
to understand that this was the career my passion was leading to me to. I had shadowed other
health care professionals before based on my interest. These shadowing experiences included a
pediatrician, family practice physician, and a physical therapist. Each of those experiences were
useful to me because, while they were interesting, they all seemed to lack something that left me
wanting more. As a hopeful pharmacist, I will have a career that I feel passionate about while being
able to provide for my loved ones at the same time. I enjoy my job as a pharmacy technician so
much that I began researching a career in pharmacy after only a few months of working there. The
pharmacists that I work with have been such an

In this essay I will be talking about the key guidelines when it comes to investigating computer
related crimes, such as what kind of the sections and sub sections the offence falls under when
regarding the law . I will also analyse the principle that will apply when dealing with the collection
data using the digital forensic unit to analyse the data, more so how this is used to make accurate
judgment on why the data was in this location and what its purpose or intended use was.
Furthermore I will address what kind the authority the ACPO are granted, and further dissect the
responsibilities the chief commissioner has. Lastly I will be addressing one the biggest computer
related crimes which Cyber Crime and how ACPO created a method for dealing with such crimes,
such as dividing the crime into two different categories of Cyber Crime, and how they differ from

Southwest Airlines Case Analysis Paper
Southwest Airlines is one of the most successful airlines in America today. Although it was
established much later than other airlines, the airline experienced numerous challenges, which
negatively affected its performance. Established in 1967, Southwest Airlines could not operate for
four years. They had a rough start following legal battles that derailed the start of their operation.
Since the beginning of their regular operation in 1971, this airlinehas had the most consistent
profitable record in the world. Their success highly depended on the management s decision to
embrace advanced management and operational strategies. Over the years, the airline has come up
with various measures that have made them the leading carriers in the United States (Gittell, 2003).
Several other companies in the world have since adopted their model of operation to increase their
productivity. Their flexibility and willingness to try new methods has transformed the airline into
the most popular airline in America today.
Their initial technique was to reduce the fares charged for air transport by approximately 60%
compared to other airlines. Interstate charges were regulated by the Civil Aeronautics Board
making it impossible for the company to change their fares between different states. They therefore
came up with brilliant intrastate routes that allowed them to lower their prices without the
interference from the Civil Aeronautics Board. Their decision was challenged in court but the

Workplace Violence Essay
Workplace Violence
Workplace violence is a phenomenon that is now widely recognized as a social problem, which

either at work or traveling to or from work. Workplace
Violence accounted for more than two (2) million violent

Times are changing and the workplace is just not as safe as we once thought. What used to be rare
occurrences has now become not only more commonplace but has been even falling into the rare
category of significant life issues that people almost take for granted. No company is immune to
workplace violence (Mantell 18 20).
Violence involving work associates
Employee s violence has increased significantly over the past decade. For example, say the
workplace violence and most people think of a rampage shooting like the one in the City of Los
Angeles building, where Willi Wood opened fire with a Glock semi automatic pistol, killing four
managers, or maybe they will think of Bruce Clark, a 22 year old U.S. Postal Service veteran who
shot and killed his supervisors at a mail processing facility in another Southern California city.
What about the classic loner James Davis, who killed three and injured four at a manufacturing
plant in North Carolina? (Klein, 5 8).
What causes workplace violence?
While each situation varies, violence often results from stress, either on or pushed over the edge. In
recent years employees have been faced with foreign competition, mergers and acquisitions and the
break up of the nuclear family. The resulting uncertainty can lead to a fierce control, which
combined with job termination or the fear of being fired. Anger is often directed at managers and
supervisors involved in the termination of the

Some data is very sensitive and therefore it has to be hidden away from parties who are not

which is done by using several methods which, besides physical security, includes the use of
encryption algorithms which are programs that change the way information looks by rendering it

This complex procedure ensures that the data is safe from being accessed by other parties[4].
Therefore, the key is an important component of the data encryption process since it is the one that
makes the data into a unique cipher text that cannot be accessed by other individuals and it is also
applied while decrypting the data. The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual
knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since
the key is a major component to its being decrypted.
The most common method for breaking a cipher is through brute force attack where the possible
combinations of the key are guessed and applied until the right combination is arrived at.
Therefore, the longer the key the harder it would be to crack the code.
The personal involvement of Janet as shown by the message which asks her to personally transfer

Susan s account and could have used it to transfer the money to her own account. Therefore, the
bank could be using the private key encryption system in which the key is known to the business in
this case Janet and to the customer Susan. The fact that 3DES requires that one knows the key to

Beer is One of the most widely consumed beverages around the world. According to List 25, An
average American consumes about 23 gallons of the beverage a year, that averages about 27 six

The Impact Of Hate Crimes In America
Over the years, America has been prone to this violent act of hate crime that puts its citizens in a
situation of distressed and confusion. Hate crimes have been a part of America s history and
culture for decades. Because America is a diverse country, the level of hate crimes is outrageous in
many different levels due to different cultures, ethnicities, skin colors, and religions. Hate crimeis a
serious act and has influenced our society today to look at certain people a different way. It is not
an act that people are born with rather than they are taught by it or it was inherited within a
particular social group. With the election of President Trump in 2016, hate crimeactivities have
really increased in just a year s matter. President Donald Trump plays a role in really highlighting
these hate crimesand almost making it seem like he is promoting hate crimes though many of his
speeches and statements. Of the many factors that contribute to the highly increasing hate crime
activities, there are four factors that I believe are contributing to the increasing hate crime
activities. Those four factors are thrill seeking, retaliation, mission offenders, and the income
inequality. These factors all have a part into why hate crime activities are increasing over the
year. There are many different hate crimes in America. Hate crimes are considered as criminal
offenses and depending on which state this criminal offense has been committed, they have their
own laws to rule over it. According to Jack Leven and Jack McDevitt, in their article Hate
Crimes, they explained, ..the vast majority of hate crime laws do not criminalize any new
behavior; instead, they increase the penalty for behaviors that are already against the law (Leven
McDevitt, 2011). This is something that has been reviewed and updated over the years. As many
new behaviors to hate crime activity surface, those crimes will eventually fall under some old laws
but the penalty of it will eventually increase. This hate crime activity includes any acts that involve
with any negative attitudes or prejudice toward anyone because of their race, religion, ethnicity, or
gender. It often leads to people being bias and showing a tremendous amount of hatred

ADA prohibits discrimination in employment, public services, public accommodations, state and
local government, and telecommunications. The ADA became law on July 26 1990. The American
with Disabilities Act is divided into 5 sections that address each individual topic of the 5 I gave.
(eeoc.gov, n.d.)
The goal of the American with Disabilities Act is to establish a clear and comprehensive
understanding prohibition of discrimination on the basis of a disability. The ADA guarantees equal
opportunity for individuals. There is five sections in the act. They are employment, public services,
public accommodation, telecommunications, and miscellaneous provisions. (askjan.org, n.d.)
To also get a better understanding of the act one must know the definition of a disability. According
to ADA.gov a disability is a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more
major life activities, a person who has a history or record of such impairment, or a person who is
perceived by others as having an impairment. Major life activities include, but are not limited to,

Views Of Lying Research
Parents also lie to children. This is seen and understood by children. They are told about Santa, the
tooth fairy that their dead pet is alive and well and living on a farm, are just some examples of the
lies parents tell in this culture. These lies are told with no intention to harm but attempts to protect,
or indeed to perpetuate our storytelling cultural myths but this clearly sends the message that
sometimes it s ok to lie.
The storytellers
What doesn t exist you have to create yourself. Even a dream can be plucked out of your head and
shaped for a purpose.
― Henning Mankell, Chronicler of the Winds (Henningmankell.com, 2015)

If we believe the negative media view then it is that they all lie as they are bogus and indeed for
some this would be a truth. However, there are reasons to believe, and this will be explored
further in this study, that it may be that this label is unfairly applied. It would be wrong to
assume that all lies are because they are bogus claimants; there are other motivations and types
of lies. In first observation of this practise in Calais it was for those an attempt to protect family
and other migrants from the truth of the painful reality of their situations. So these lies were not
motivated by self gain but in a form of `caring ` for others. I suppose what one would describe as a
white lie.
They lie because they feel that if they told the truth they would not be given asylum even though
they maybe illegitimate claimants with real reasons to fear them being returned. There is also the
belief that the lie is of no harm to anyone and therefore not considered as serious as lies with
victims. On some levels the home office may be viewed as the enemy that prevents and stands in
the way of them obtaining the sanctuary that they seek, with the attitude all is fair in love and

Essay Van Gogh failure
Van Gogh failure In the realm of art there have been numerous accounts of infamous artists who
have stood out in their art period, such as Goya, Monet and Picasso. One artist who stood out
during his art period was Vincent van Gogh, not only for his artwork but also because of his tragic
life. Vincent van Goghis now a world renowned painter who was born on March 30th, 1853. He
was born in Groot Zundert in North Brabant and was the son of Theodorus van Gogh. His art is
considered to be part of the expressionism era and his most famous art works include Starry Night,

Gauguin expressed that they simply could not live together in peace, and expressed his need to
distance himself from Vincent. It is clear that Vincent simply could not blend into society nor could
he get along with other artists.
Though one may think that even though society could not accept van Gogh surely his family
would be able to bear him, but this was not the case. Van Gogh also failed in having a stable
relationship with his family. In his early adulthood, Vincent had already lost the respect of one
of his family members: At the age of twenty three years he is now thrown out of employment,
without any chance of a better career; Uncle Vincent is deeply disappointed in his namesake and
washes his hands of him. (44). At twenty three, his uncle gave him a chance to advance himself,
but he ends up failing miserably and so his uncle, being fairly disappointed, washes his hands of
any responsibility of Vincent. Later in his life, van Gogh struggles as a painter and had received
help from his family. He moved in with his family and hoped to grow as an artist but ended up
further alienating his family, In consequence of several disagreeable discussions with the other
members of the family, he resolved to live no longer at the vicarage, but took up his abode in the
studio, where he stayed from May to November. (Pg. 63, Roskill). He had a

  • 2. The Industries Experiment On The Planet The Industries Experiment on the Planet Data was collected in several locations: a natural forest, a clear cut, and a plantation. Within these spaces, the five bodily senses sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste helped to identify how each location felt overall. In addition to the raw data collected, further analysis was undertaken using information obtained in class. Ideas within the course were applied to the three locations, and an analysis of the course content was applied to everyday problems concerning environmental issues that stem from greenhouse gas emissions caused by mega industries. The world s largest and most polluting industries are playing a dangerous game, lining their pockets at the expense of the planet and its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Greed is the main driving force behind industries that profit from deforestation, damage to the natural world and climate are the collateral damage. The clear cut area lacked both fauna and flora. In the distance, the chirping of birds could be heard, but it was quite faint. The smell of trees and fresh dirt lingered slightly; it was dry on the ground, and the area felt as though it was barely hanging on to any semblance of its former life. There was a great feeling of emptiness and sadness. The point of herbicides is to kill off the broad leaf trees, so that the needle trees would not be required to fight for space and survival. (Davies, 2016) Plantation UNB Woodlot The plantation was difficult to spot amongst the many other trees. A search throughout a thin trail system was needed in order to locate one. Whilst stepping into the plantation, there was a great probability of overlooking it as simply another section of natural forest. Although there were many trees that resembled one another, it was surrounded by natural forest, so it blended in. The three ways to tell that an area has been converted into a plantation are: (a) if the trees are quite evenly spaced, (b) if there are more of one species of tree than others, and (c) if there are no broadleaf trees or they are sparse and very small. One could hear the sounds of birds chirping and woodpeckers nearby, and the smell was strong of pine, as it was a pine plantation. The general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trauma and Adult Learning Essay Trauma and Adult Learning Effects of Trauma on Learning Adults experiencing the effects of past or current trauma may display such symptoms as difficulty beginning new tasks, blame, guilt, concern for safety, depression, inability to trust (especially those in power), fear of risk taking, disturbed sleep, eroded self esteem/confidence, inability to concentrate, or panic attacks (Mojab and McDonald 2001). Some people may manifest no symptoms; at the other end of the spectrum is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, characterized by flashbacks, avoidance, numbing of responsiveness (including substance abuse), persistent expectation of danger, constriction (dissociation, zoning out), and memory impairment (Isserlis 2001). A number of authors urge reframing of these discourses: Instead of diagnosing and treating victims, find ways to make the learning environment safer for everyone (Horsman 1997). Recognize the role of power in limiting individual agency and choice and the ways in which institutions make personal and structural violence possible and legitimize it (Pearce 1999). Acknowledge the hidden learning that occurs through traumatic experiences (Horsman 2000b; Williamson 2000). What is learned from trauma and how might educators respond? Studies of people enduring extreme situations suggest that learning is a key to survival in adversity (Williamson 2000). Successful learning is supposed to occur when conditions are right: accessible opportunities, time, appropriate support, safety, motivation, risks with manageable consequences (ibid.). Yet in extreme situations, learning must take place quickly and without the right conditions. What is learned in response to trauma is influenced by prior knowledge, background, familial and social relationships, and personal qualities and abilities (Pearce 1999; Williamson 2000). This is not to blame the victim for inappropriate learning or responses, but to underscore the importance of resources and support and the recognition that learning has to be geared to meet a range of individual needs. Some of the hidden learning from trauma includes the following: All or nothing reactions such as shifting between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is seen that through the ramifications of discovery, the persona is confronted which leads to him forming a negatively changed perspective of himself and his neighbour. He asks questions such as Before I built a wall, I d ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out , which allows him to realise that walls prevent and hinder connections. As a result of this, he attempts to convince his neighbour and show him how walls are useless and needless in society. Through the analogy he is all pine and I am apple orchard/My apple trees will never get across the persona tries to further convince his neighbour to remove the wall which hinders human connection. The Three Levels Of Standardness In English The three levels of standardness in English are formal standard English, informal standard /mainstream English, and vernacular English (Wolfram Schilling, 2016). It is resistant to change and only used in formal written or spoken language (Wolfram Schilling, 2016). There are many characteristics of this piece that stood out to me, such as the relationship between the lyrics and the musical quality and the musical elements that set the tone of the music. At the exposition of Caroline No there is an eerie drum and cymbal introduction that has a sort of call and response relationship. The cymbals would play a short melody and the drum beat would follow, this exchange occurred a couple of times. This exchange between the cymbals and the drums made the piece seem melancholic and mysterious and sets the mood for the rest of the song. The quality of the voice was interesting because it was unlike most songs of The Beach Boys I have heard of before. Throughout the song, The Beach Boys have a slow and relaxing tempo that does not shift as the piece progresses. For the most part, the tempo remains steady and slow. As a third grader, I had the first severe asthma attack that I can remember that caused the first of several hospital stays. By happenstance, that time sparked my curiosity about medicine. As an eight year old, I wondered just how this magical mist that came through a mask was able to give me a freedom to breath that my body wasn t couldn t give me on its own. Throughout high school and the beginning of college, I tailored my education to focus on biology and medicine, as well as finding time to interact with patients as I pursued a career in medicine. However, it was not until I began working as a pharmacytechnician for CVS Pharmacy that I came to understand that this was the career my passion was leading to me to. I had shadowed other health care professionals before based on my interest. These shadowing experiences included a pediatrician, family practice physician, and a physical therapist. Each of those experiences were useful to me because, while they were interesting, they all seemed to lack something that left me wanting more. As a hopeful pharmacist, I will have a career that I feel passionate about while being able to provide for my loved ones at the same time. I enjoy my job as a pharmacy technician so much that I began researching a career in pharmacy after only a few months of working there. The pharmacists that I work with have been such an ... The key in computers is measured in bits and if an individual knows the algorithm but does not know the key, the data cannot be accessed algorithmically since the key is a major component to its being decrypted. Hate crimes have been a part of America s history and culture for decades. Because America is a diverse country, the level of hate crimes is outrageous in many different levels due to different cultures, ethnicities, skin colors, and religions. Hate crimeis a serious act and has influenced our society today to look at certain people a different way. It is not an act that people are born with rather than they are taught by it or it was inherited within a particular social group. With the election of President Trump in 2016, hate crimeactivities have really increased in just a year s matter. President Donald Trump plays a role in really highlighting these hate crimesand almost making it seem like he is promoting hate crimes though many of his speeches and statements. Of the many factors that contribute to the highly increasing hate crime activities, there are four factors that I believe are contributing to the increasing hate crime activities. Those four factors are thrill seeking, retaliation, mission offenders, and the income inequality. These factors all have a part into why hate crime activities are increasing over the year. There are many different hate crimes in America. Hate crimes are considered as criminal offenses and depending on which state this criminal offense has been committed, they have their own laws to rule over it. According to Jack Leven and Jack McDevitt, in their article Hate Crimes, they explained, ..the vast majority of hate crime laws do not criminalize any new behavior; instead, they increase the penalty for behaviors that are already against the law (Leven McDevitt, 2011). This is something that has been reviewed and updated over the years. As many new behaviors to hate crime activity surface, those crimes will eventually fall under some old laws but the penalty of it will eventually increase.
