The Heroism Of The Men
Throughout history there have been wars; battles are fought over a woman, Helen of Troy, over land,
religion, and family feuds (the Hatfield and McCoy feud). War and its aftermath are never pretty
unless penned by authors who never step into a battlefield. Lives are lost, our fathers, mothers, sons,
and daughters have all sacrificed for their causes. Lord Alfred Tennyson romanticized the of notion
war and of the battle that was fought on the battlefield in his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade,
subsequently, the intent of battle was for the glory of a cause or nation and to remember the bravery of
those who fought. On the other, hand Wilfred Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Est was the opposite,
anti romanticism of war, he too did not want the bravery of the men to be lost forever. Each of the
poems praised the heroism of the men, one written in a military cadence, and the other written to
emphasize the exhaustion and what by now have become the mundane reality of war and the horrific
deaths these men suffered. Lord Alfred Tennyson romanticized the notion of war, of the battles that
were fought in the battlefields and trenches in his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade. Tennyson s
poem portrays the war in a positive light, encourages a sense of patriotism, and at the end of the poem
reminds people that the men who fought in the war were honorable. It was apparent in the reading that
Tennyson was fascinated with heroism, and reflected that sentiment in his poetry about an

LPN Role and Philosophy Nurses play many roles in the healthcare field, can have many duties to
fulfill under their licensure. It is important for a nurse of any degree, or licenses to know all of the
duties that can be performed under their scope of practice. Olin (2012) states, Scopes of practice are
the same for every nurse at a basic level and very different by specialty. Therefore, it is important to
understand the scope of practice, that the nurse is licensed for. A nurse has many roles under the scope
of practice that the nurse is licensed under. There are times when a nurse is asked to perform a task

Personal nursing philosophy is important to individualized nurses because different nurses care for
different patients. Marchuk (2014) notes, The use of a nursing philosophy as the basis for nursing
practice promotes the proper application of nursing knowledge as well as the development of further
nursing theory and knowledge. Nursing philosophy is different for every kind of nurse and each
individual nurse, some seek compassion and knowledge, were as other seek professionalism and
dignity. All nurses are different, and this paper will be focusing on the Licensed Practical Nurse and
the roles and tasks of an LPN.
Background of the LPN
There are many roles and tasks that can be performed under the LPNs scope of practice. The LPN can
give medications prescribed by the doctor, give immunizations approved by the healthcare provider,
preform daily wound care and vital signs, take medical histories and enter provided information into
the computer documents, (Licensed Practical Nurse, 2017). The Licensed Practical Nurse can watch
over the UAP, monitor intake and output, and help with patient transferring as well. The LPN has a lot
responsibly and works as the eyes and ears of a doctor or a registered nurse.
Client Centered Care
The licensed practical nurse shows client centered care in many ways. Bell (2014) states, The goal of
patient centered care is to see the patient and family as a

Describe How To Make A Brownie Research Paper
Brownies are so easy to make and are the best dessert. There is a recipe to make them even better
though. Conversational brownies take dessert to a whole nother level. It s brownie batter on top of
Oreos on top of cookie dough. And it could give you a cavity just thinking about them. Step one for
making them is having all the ingredients. To make these you will need an entire roll of Pillsbury
cookie dough, double stuffed Oreos and brownie batter. You can also make the cookie dough and
brownie batter from scratch but this way is easier and gives you less of a chance of messing up. Step
two is to preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The oven needs to be pretty hot for all the layers
of the brownie to cook. Step three is to put the

Theme Of Identity In The Tale Of Sinuhe
In the Tale of Sinuhe , the path of Sinuhe s flight or more aptly put, his journey of self, is one that is
indubitably complex it resonates with the concept of uprooting oneself from a semblance of normality
( order ) into a state of unfamiliarity ( chaos ). This paradigm shift, due to an irrational response to fear
on Sinhue s part, leads to an existential crisis whereby the course of his trajectory and social identity is
questioned extensively. Subsequently, throughout the tale the themes of rational and irrational thought,
self vs. other and order vs. chaos are explored and as a result contribute to Sinhue s journey of self and
restoration of his true identity as an Egyptian.
In the beginning of the tale, the virtues of Sinuhe s character and loyalty are called into question. As a
royal courtier belonging to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

restoration process, He sends a letter to the benevolent king Senwosret who welcomes him back
despite his cowardly flight years before as he takes Sinuhe s word when he says that he has restored
himself. In truth, the tale shows the progression of Sinuhe s character and he recognizes and addresses
the changes himself in the poem he recites after his victory. (B 145 165) In the poem, Sinuhe faces his
past, a poignant reminder of his cowardly escape from Egypt. However, the poem also indicates how
he has changed for the better as his past is contrasted with his current situation as a conqueror. With
this transformation, from cowardly nobleman to victorious hero now complete, Sinuhe believes that he
is ready to return to his homeland where he can be laid to rest with honour and

Paul Samuelson s Erroneous Prediction Of Soviet Growth
Paul Samuelson s Erroneous Prediction of Soviet Growth
Paul Samuelson, the regarded Neo Keynesian who among other well received publications gifted the
world it s most popular economic textbook, which provided the world s scholars an innovative,
comprehensive catalogue of economic ideas. Millions of successful sales, and publication in various
languages only cemented its dominance in the textbook and educational industry. This great success
was not without some blunders, however. Starting in his 1961 edition of Economics, Samuelson first
published a graph and accompanying text predicting the future growth of the Soviet Union, and
comparing it to that of the United states. At the time, he gauged that the economic output of the USSR
was at half that of the US, and though for this first, and several following editions, he suggested higher
growth rates in the USSR, the ratio of economic output stayed relatively the same until the fall of the
Soviet Union. In 1989, the year of the fall of the Berlin wall, in his 13th edition of his Economics
Samuelson can be quoted, The soviet economy is proof that, contrary to what many skeptics had
earlier believed, a socialist command economy can function and even thrive. In this paper I will
examine Samuelson s ideas regarding the Soviet Union s economy, what the economy really way, how
it matched up to economist s expectations, and what lessons can be learned from this experience. For
the static underlying ideas of this article,

The Second Language ( L2 ) Learners
The second language(L2) learners often struggle to identify possible grammars in their second
languages. In particular, they fail to form a sentence with an appropriate functional morpheme
(Lardiere, 1998; White, 2003). A functional morpheme refers to a morpheme which performs some
kind of grammatical function, playing a role in lexical change. It consists of the function words in the
language such as definite markers. The inflection of a definite marker, in other words, definiteness,
distinguishes a nominal phrase (NP) between identifiable and non identifiable. That is, whether or not,
a referent is identifiable or previously introduced in the discourse. In addition to identifiability,
definiteness is expected to incorporate other notion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper mostly analyzes the issue of cross linguistic variation of definiteness with sample data and
examples from English and Japanese.
Dryer (2013) classifies definiteness into five categories. The first type is the languages in which
definite article are independent, and are distinct from demonstrative words. This type is used
commonly in Western European, Oceanic and Mesoamerican languages (Dryer, 2013; Schroeder,
2006). English is categorized in this type of languages.
In English, the grammatical element is encoded with regard to a contrast between a definite article the,
and indefinite articles a/an in the language. The type of noun (count versus mass) is also a factor:
indefinite mass nouns and indefinite plural countable nouns can appear without articles, i.e. as bare
nouns. Furthermore, other determiners in English are consist of demonstratives, possessives,
quantifiers, and cardinal numbers, some of which are definite and indefinite. The distribution of
articles in English is presented in (1). Examples involving singular count nouns are illustrated in (2).
Note that these singular count nouns cannot be bare, as illustrated in (2e).

Rita Cosby Short Story
After Rita had convinced her father to reveal the story, she was able to comprehend the tragic ordeals
that her father had experienced and had made him cold and distant all those years. She found that her
father had witnessed his hometown in Poland being bombed at a young age of thirteen. He had lied
about his age to join the resistance group that fought their enemies. He was then captured together
with his mates and were imprisoned in Germany. Where after some time they were able to escape and
were rescued by the American troops. All of this took place while he was still a teenager. Later on,
Rita and his father visited Poland for the first time since world war II. After coming to terms with the
whole story, Rita and her father formed a very deep bond that can never be broken. Moreover, Rita
Cosby has many agonizing tragedies, but there are specific moments that are deeply piercing and
heartbreaking. It is really disturbing to see Rita s father grew up in a war zone city known as Warsaw.
He vividly witnessed the bombing of a town he called his home, at only thirteen years old. He saw
indescribable horrific events happening in the Jewish ghetto, a small town that was only a few miles
away from his house (R. Cosby). When the Germans invaded Warsaw, everything in that city was
destroyed. And as if that was not enough, the Soviets also invaded the same city from the east. This
left the people of Warsaw with nothing, all they had to do was to escape. They were oppressed by the

Sympatric Speciation Essay
Learning Journal Unit Seven
What is the difference between Allopatric Speciation and Sympatric Speciation?
Allopatric Speciation refers to an outside source begetting geographic separation between two or more
groups of animals obviating them from copulating with each other and leading to the speciation of
their lineage (University of California Museum of Paleontology, 2016a). In contrast, Sympatric
Speciation does not involve physical separation, but instead occurs when development of a habitat
reduces gene flow between a species (University of California Museum of Paleontology, 2016e). For
example, a species of bug typically lays its eggs on oranges, but the introduction of peaches to their
environment spurs some of the species to lay their eggs on the peaches instead. Moreover, with this
particular species, the females always return during mating season to the fruit they hatched from and

Out of the four lines of evidence, I have chosen evidence by example. Though no technology exists
that would empower scientists with the ability to travel into the past and directly observe the
evolutionary process, scientists can observe evolution via artificial selection in a laboratory or note
how modern organisms relate to each other to obtain an augmented understanding of how animals
acclimate to their environment (University of California Museum of Paleontology, 2016c).

Analysis Of Equus By Peter Shaffer
Consciousness can be defined as one s awareness of their actions, thoughts, or surroundings. It is the
ability to understand things beyond our eyes. And what I mean by that is one can see things through
their eyes, but consciousness allows one to comprehend it on a deeper level. It leads to how we
behave, how we function. The definition of community when I google it, is a group of people living in
the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. I would describe community as a
group of people who have common goals, thoughts, or interests. In IGE 120, the course theme is
consciousness and community, which is why I chose to define them before going into further depth.

Gilgamesh s arrogance led him on a journey that he wasn t quite prepared for, knowing that it might

sickness, he admires his bravery. He s full of misery and fear. He was dangerous...But that boy has
known a passion more ferocious than I have felt in any second of my life. And let me tell you
something: I envy it (Shaffer, pg. 80). This shows that Dysart is conscious of his life but he isn t happy
about it. This leads him to be envy of Alan and makes him question if his career is humane. He
believes that as a psychiatrist, he is taking away Alan Strang s passion of horses by labeling

How Did Jazz Contribute To The Civil Rights Movement
Jazz and Civil Rights : Hand In Hand
Jazz contributed to the civil rights movement by allowing people to listen to African American
opinions through musical beats and lyrics. Giving the world a new wide spectrum from what they
were listening to before.
The current definition of jazz is American music developed from ragtime and blues. In some ways
blues and jazz go hand in hand. These types of music emerged in the Deep American South around the
end of the 19th century, spread north and formed various sub genres. Jazz and blues are connected by
their influence from African beats and culture to traditional African American work songs. These

The History of Jazz
The Jazz Age was a post World War I movement in the 1920 s, from which jazz music and dance
emerged. Although the era ended with the beginning of The Great Depression in 1929, Jazz has lived
on in American pop culture. Later on in time jazz was brought back by mostly African Americans. In
New Orleans during the late 19th century, brass marching bands gave lengthy performances during
funerals and parades this is one way jazz was used to express others emotions . Musicians had grown
bored and begin to improvise, using the syncopated rhythms of African American vocal music into
traditional military tunes. The way Jazz got around was by musicians being able to move state by state
to perform. The music eventually spread north, taking root and evolving in cities such as Chicago and
New York City. With a wide range of audience jazz came to be one of the most popular musical genres
in America. The term jazz or jass derives from a Creole word that means both African dance and
copulation. Also The term jazz referring to peppy dance music first appeared in a March 1913 edition

Investigating Estrogen Effects On Myc And Pvt1 Expression
Investigating Estrogen Effects on MYC and PVT1 Expression in Breast Cancer Using Mouse Models
Background
In the United States, breast cancer is currently the second most common cancer in women. The
National Institute of Health states that one in every eight women will develop breast cancer in her
lifetime (1). Furthermore, it is estimated by the American Cancer Institute that approximated 41,000
people died of breast cancer in the United States during 2015 (2). Since breast cancer is such a
prevalent concern in society today, current and future research will help direct the treatment and
detection of the disease.
Studies have shown that high estrogen levels correspond with an increased risk for breast cancer in
mammalian species (3). The hormone estrogen plays a key role in mammary gland development by
binding to the estrogen receptor, which has previously been identified as a transcription factor. In
normal cells, when estrogen binds to the receptor, a dimer forms and a conformational change occurs.
The estrogen receptor travels to the nucleus where its DNA binding domain interacts with a DNA
sequence found in the promoter of several genes. The estrogen receptor must form a complex with
various proteins prior to initiation of transcription. In cancerous cells, the estrogen receptor becomes
overly activated by estrogen and leads to tumor formation via multiple mechanisms (3).
Myelocytomatosis (Myc) and plasmacytoma variant transcription 1 (Pvt1) are two genes that were

Moreover, in The Three Apples, a man kills his wife due to his suspicion that his wife cheated on him.
The slave who is just a stranger, that the husband believes the wife cheated on him with, remains safe

husbands and their society since even her own father is on her husband s side. After the woman is
killed, the father realizes it was a mistake but still protects the husband. Furthermore, in The Tale of

decides to brutally beat his wife in order to stop her from asking him questions. She could not stand up

Additionally, in The Three Apples, the woman is murdered by her husband at the end of the story, only

defenceless against the man but she did not even try to defend herself. This is how the West saw the

Nasa s The Space Of Space
After NASA s moon landing among other achievements during the Space Race, many Americans
yearned to explore the depths of the unknown Universe. From quasars to brown dwarf stars, there are
many wonders that the universe holds for the human race if we decide to leap into the exploration of
the universe. Some may believe that reaching for the stars is too costly. However, the exploration of
space is within our grasp, and by increasing NASA s funding, we are able to reach them. So yes, we
should fund our space administration in order for us to reach the stars. Firstly, without sufficient
funding, NASA would be politically reliant on Russia due to NASA s need to launch its commercial
crew using Russian spaceships on Russian land. According to The Guardian, NASA s budget has
dropped from 4.41 percent of the federal budget in 1966, to today s budget of 0.5 percent of the
federal budget. As a result of continued decrease in funds, NASA has been severely crippled in its
ability to operate; this is why NASA s budget needs to be increased. Without funds nor vehicles to
transport its astronauts, NASA must rely on its Russian counterpart in order to fly Americans into
space. Due to a rocky relationship with Russia that stems from the Cold War, it is not viable for us to
depend our entire space commercial crew program with Russia. Depending on Russia also causes
NASA as well as the United States to look weak in front of the national community. Such weakness

Ted Kaczynski s Attacks
After nearly a decade of near total isolation, hunting rabbits, and growing vegetables, in 1979, Ted
reunited with his brother and father at the family factory, but was subsequently fired for a relationship
with a female coworker that went south. Later in the year, Ted Kaczynski created his first homemade
pipe bomb, which he sent to a Northwestern University professor, although ultimately ended up being
opened by a Northwestern University campus security officer who sustained minor injuries to his
hand. The focus of Ted Kaczynski s attacks would be on those who are in some way tied to the
development of modern technology. Furthermore in 1979 and 1980, Ted Kaczynski sent two separate

Timothy McVeigh was born on April 23, 1968 in Lockport, New York. According to The Editors of
Salem Press, authors of American Villains, McVeigh s upbringing was largely uneventful except for
the bullying he experienced in high school and the marital problems he witnessed between his parents
(Salem Press, 2008, 361). According to a BBC News article, at the age of 10, McVeigh s parents got a
divorce and Timothy McVeigh chose to live with his father and one of his elder sisters while McVeigh

The Allegory Of Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler
Sophie Carr Western Civ November 22, 2015 The Allegory of Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler The decline
of the Weimar Republic marked a time of great concern over how post war Germany would shed its
authoritarian past and reinvent itself. Feasibly, no other film from this era could so adeptly capture the
history of immediate postwar Germany than Fritz Lang s Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler. Fritz Lang s
melodramatic tale of an elusive and depraved gambler, or player as it s literally translated, is actually
an allegory for a corrupt and economically unstable Germany that would soon give rise to fascism.
Though Lang, a fervent anti fascist, would find great success in cinematically portraying despotism in
his cult classic Metropolis (1927), Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler was the film that was the more directly
connected to a recovering Germany. Dr. Mabuse is an allegory for the political and economic strife
that took hold Weimar Germany. The film is of a man who plays a slick gambler, an esteemed
physician, and a magician. He s a player in most, if not all, senses of the word. Dr. Mabuse s character
is also described as being literally hypnotic, He [Lang] shows individuals being transformed into a
state of total submission as well as a whole audience succumbing to an exercise in mass suggestion. 1
Only the state prosecutor, Norbert von Wenk, is capable of resisting Mabuse s powers, but Mabuse s
striking supernatural powers and his loyal gang of felons thwart his investigation.

Fate And Free Will In Oedipus The King
Fate and Free Will in Sophocles Oedipus the King Introduction
The events in Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles, show an underlying relationship of man s free
will existing within the cosmic order or fate which the Greeks believed guided the universe in a
harmonious purpose. Man was free to choose and was ultimately held responsible for his own actions.
Both the concept of fate and free will played an integral part in Oedipus destruction. Although he was
a victim of fate, he was not controlled by it. Oedipus was destined from birth to someday marry his
mother and to murder his father. This prophecy, as warned by the oracle of Apollo at Delphi was
unconditional and inevitably would come to pass, no matter what he may have done to avoid it. His
past actions were determined by fate, but what he did in Thebes; he did so of his own will.
In Sophocles Oedipus the King, the themes of fate and free will are very strong throughout the play.
Only one, however, brought about Oedipus downfall and death. Both points could be argued to great
effect. In ancient Greece, fate was considered to be a rudimentary part of daily life. Every aspect of
life depended and was based upon fate (Nagle 100). It is common belief to assume that mankind does

He does this in reaction to the events that take place. Oedipus was aware that he alone was responsible
for his actions and gauged his own eyes out. That is the free will standpoint on the issue. Oedipus was
at the same time not responsible for his actions. The gods controlled his personality and therefore
controlled the outcome of his life. If Oedipus realized this he might not have taken his own sight. The
gods use their power to provoke human s free will. They were responsible for the demise of Oedipus,
but in the same time convince the human that it was there

Humanity Is The Principle Of Hasty Generalization
Principle of Utility
An act is only morally right if it does more to improve the overall well being than any other action a
person could have done in a circumstance. Which leads to the idea that morality is based on moral

Generalizing from a sample size that is too small or biased, rather than looking at something more

What does Davis mean by interpretive obedience in his essay, Professional Responsibility: Just
Following the Rules?
Interpretive obedience is what Davis believes to be the right way of following rules in professional
ethics. Therefore, if a person can understand how to follow rules, than it is the correct way to abide by
the rules. However, Davis emphasizes that if people follow rules blindly, then they will not see
anything but that, and people will then use rules as an excuse. Which is why Davis favors interpretive
obedience because in his essay he means interpretive obedience to be the understanding of the rule, a
person to know the justification of the rule, and to carry out the action that goes along with the
justification.

Lab Report Osmosis on Potatoe
Practical Work Nº2: Different methods to control osmosis
Aim: observe and test the process of osmosis through different kinds of methods: the weigh (potato),
the density (beetroot) and under the light microscope (onion).
Hypothesis: according to the encyclopedia definition osmosis is the diffusion of a liquid (most often
assumed to be water, but it can be any liquid solvent) through a partially permeable membrane from a
region of high solvent potential to a region of low solvent potential. Thus, this is what will happen.
Teacher s instructions: ▪ We shouldn t forget to include the experimental error in the results exposed in

1. Loss or gain of the potatoes mass and its water potential.
[pic]
Conclusion:
Within this experiment we could verify the passage of water from a region of high concentration
through a region of a lower concentration for when the potato was surrounded by a concentrated
environment (lower water potential) the potato lost mass, and when it was surrounded by a dilute
environment (higher water potential) it gained mass.
We could also estimate, with the graph, the concentration at which the potato neither loses nor gains
mass, that is when the water potential inside the potato is equal to the one outside. This equilibrium
occurs at 0,345M.(aprox.)

Our Town Quotes
Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? every, every minute? (Emily Webb, Act III)
Our Town presents life as it truly is; as humans, we tend to only remember the big events in our life,
and neglect the minute details. Throughout the book, Wilder entertains the notion that humans have
learned to seemingly distance themselves from anything that doesn t have immediate value to their
memories. Our Town proves this notion by examining key aspects of the average person s life in
Grover s Corners childhood and marriage. To quote the Stage Manager as they exclaim in Act I, This
is the way we were: in our growing up and in our marrying and in our living and in our dying . .As
children, things always seemed to go over our heads.

The Ottoman Empire ( 1299 ) Essay
Empire, Ottoman The Ottoman Empire (1299?1923) was a Turkish Muslim state that existed for more
than six hundred years. It was one of the largest and longest lived empires in history, and it
represented one of the greatest civilizations of the modern period. Its territories, at its height, included
Anatolia (part of present day Turkey), the Middle East, parts of East and North Africa, and
southeastern Europe, comprising a total area of more than 22 million square kilometers (about 8.5
million square miles). The Ottoman state was established by a tribe of Oghuz Turks as one of many
small Turkish principalities that emerged in Anatolia during the Mongolian breakdown of the
Anatolian Seljuk State. The state was ruled by the Ottoman dynasty of the Kayi tribe. The dynasty was
founded by Osman I (ca. 1258?1324; in English, Ottoman) in S?g??t, in the Marmara region of
modern Turkey. THE PERIOD OF ESTABLISHMENT AND EXPANSION Situated on the borders of
the tottering Byzantine Empire, Osman I quickly became a warrior of Islam, attracting the attention of
wandering ghazis, or warriors for the faith, in Anatolia. In 1299 the Byzantine city Bilecik fell to
Turks. This conquest was followed by the fall of many other Byzantine cities, villages, and forts
during the early 1300s. Some of the nearby Turkish beyliks (principalities) and tribes were also taken
over before Osman s death around 1324. Osman s son Orhan (r. 1326?1362) conquered Bursa in 1326.

immensely poor economic conditions, with many life struggles, they both ultimately overcome their

money. Ricky (A Fabricated Mexican) and Angela (The Girl in My Town), both come from hard
working families, but Angela s family earns more money than does Ricky s. In the book, A Fabricated

Essay On Air Awareness
Currently there is a large amount of research based on the use of the system and its benefits, although
there is nothing in current research that shows the saturation of awareness in the aviation community.
Some of the current research highlights the great benefits of the system, including the mass gathering
of data to identify specific problems within the safety sector. Such as Cardosi, Falzarano, Han (2008)
research based on ASRS reports, where they analyzed 386 reports from the program database and
gathered data which yielded a lot of results on the contributing factors of pilot controller
communication errors. The data they gathered was directly based of the ASRS self reports submitted
both by pilots and Air Traffic Controllers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By providing the users with its benefits of confidentiality and partial immunity, it draws people in to
report the problems that will be used for future identifications and research. Several researchers have
already used the data provided by the system to create further safety information within the aviation
field, although the amount of data the gathered was rather limited and needed a further boost, which
the ASRS system can provide if the majority of personnel are aware of its existence. Furthermore, a
majority of the research literature so far has all been based on the data that the ASRS has stored, but
almost no research has been done on the ASRS awareness within the aviation community. If the
proper research is done on the ASRS and the knowledge of it of the aviation sector, the field would
view a greatly increased input of data and create a truly preventative system that create an overall
safer environment. The current state of awareness of the ASRS system within the aviation community
is severely inconspicuous and under used. Through the proposed research, additional data will be
collected to clearly identify a percentage of people that are aware of the ASRS program and know how
to utilize it.
The proposed hypothesis of this research project is that the ASRS reporting system has a large gap in
the awareness and identification of the current system. To identify

through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be implemented
over SDN.
3.) Objectives:
The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day
technologies.
1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service
attacks.
2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will
enable more options to enhance the security.
The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking
(SDN) technology. By implementing Security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that will
be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of Service,
Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention is that if an
administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he would have to
configure all the networking equipment separately with the

War and its aftermath are never pretty unless penned by authors who never step into a battlefield. Lives are lost, our fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters have all sacrificed for their causes. Lord Alfred Tennyson romanticized the of notion war and of the battle that was fought on the battlefield in his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade, subsequently, the intent of battle was for the glory of a cause or nation and to remember the bravery of those who fought. On the other, hand Wilfred Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Est was the opposite, anti romanticism of war, he too did not want the bravery of the men to be lost forever. Each of the poems praised the heroism of the men, one written in a military cadence, and the other written to emphasize the exhaustion and what by now have become the mundane reality of war and the horrific deaths these men suffered. Lord Alfred Tennyson romanticized the notion of war, of the battles that were fought in the battlefields and trenches in his poem The Charge of the Light Brigade. Tennyson s poem portrays the war in a positive light, encourages a sense of patriotism, and at the end of the poem reminds people that the men who fought in the war were honorable. Paul Samuelson s Erroneous Prediction Of Soviet Growth Paul Samuelson s Erroneous Prediction of Soviet Growth Paul Samuelson, the regarded Neo Keynesian who among other well received publications gifted the world it s most popular economic textbook, which provided the world s scholars an innovative, comprehensive catalogue of economic ideas. Millions of successful sales, and publication in various languages only cemented its dominance in the textbook and educational industry. This great success was not without some blunders, however. Starting in his 1961 edition of Economics, Samuelson first published a graph and accompanying text predicting the future growth of the Soviet Union, and comparing it to that of the United states. At the time, he gauged that the economic output of the USSR was at half that of the US, and though for this first, and several following editions, he suggested higher growth rates in the USSR, the ratio of economic output stayed relatively the same until the fall of the Soviet Union. In 1989, the year of the fall of the Berlin wall, in his 13th edition of his Economics Samuelson can be quoted, The soviet economy is proof that, contrary to what many skeptics had earlier believed, a socialist command economy can function and even thrive. Furthermore, it is estimated by the American Cancer Institute that approximated 41,000 people died of breast cancer in the United States during 2015 (2). Since breast cancer is such a prevalent concern in society today, current and future research will help direct the treatment and detection of the disease. Studies have shown that high estrogen levels correspond with an increased risk for breast cancer in mammalian species (3). The hormone estrogen plays a key role in mammary gland development by binding to the estrogen receptor, which has previously been identified as a transcription factor. In normal cells, when estrogen binds to the receptor, a dimer forms and a conformational change occurs. The estrogen receptor travels to the nucleus where its DNA binding domain interacts with a DNA sequence found in the promoter of several genes. The estrogen receptor must form a complex with various proteins prior to initiation of transcription. • 23. The Allegory Of Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler Sophie Carr Western Civ November 22, 2015 The Allegory of Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler The decline of the Weimar Republic marked a time of great concern over how post war Germany would shed its authoritarian past and reinvent itself. Feasibly, no other film from this era could so adeptly capture the history of immediate postwar Germany than Fritz Lang s Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler. Fritz Lang s melodramatic tale of an elusive and depraved gambler, or player as it s literally translated, is actually an allegory for a corrupt and economically unstable Germany that would soon give rise to fascism. Though Lang, a fervent anti fascist, would find great success in cinematically portraying despotism in his cult classic Metropolis (1927), Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler was the film that was the more directly connected to a recovering Germany. Dr. Mabuse is an allegory for the political and economic strife that took hold Weimar Germany. The film is of a man who plays a slick gambler, an esteemed physician, and a magician. He s a player in most, if not all, senses of the word. Dr. Mabuse s character is also described as being literally hypnotic, He [Lang] shows individuals being transformed into a state of total submission as well as a whole audience succumbing to an exercise in mass suggestion. 1 Only the state prosecutor, Norbert von Wenk, is capable of resisting Mabuse s powers, but Mabuse s striking supernatural powers and his loyal gang of felons thwart his investigation. ... • 24. Fate And Free Will In Oedipus The King Fate and Free Will in Sophocles Oedipus the King Introduction The events in Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles, show an underlying relationship of man s free will existing within the cosmic order or fate which the Greeks believed guided the universe in a harmonious purpose. Man was free to choose and was ultimately held responsible for his own actions. Both the concept of fate and free will played an integral part in Oedipus destruction. Although he was a victim of fate, he was not controlled by it. Oedipus was destined from birth to someday marry his mother and to murder his father. This prophecy, as warned by the oracle of Apollo at Delphi was unconditional and inevitably would come to pass, no matter what he may have done to avoid it. His past actions were determined by fate, but what he did in Thebes; he did so of his own will. In Sophocles Oedipus the King, the themes of fate and free will are very strong throughout the play. Only one, however, brought about Oedipus downfall and death. Both points could be argued to great effect. In ancient Greece, fate was considered to be a rudimentary part of daily life. Every aspect of life depended and was based upon fate (Nagle 100). It is common belief to assume that mankind does indeed have free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What does Davis mean by interpretive obedience in his essay, Professional Responsibility: Just Following the Rules? Interpretive obedience is what Davis believes to be the right way of following rules in professional ethics. Therefore, if a person can understand how to follow rules, than it is the correct way to abide by the rules. However, Davis emphasizes that if people follow rules blindly, then they will not see anything but that, and people will then use rules as an excuse. Which is why Davis favors interpretive obedience because in his essay he means interpretive obedience to be the understanding of the rule, a person to know the justification of the rule, and to carry out the action that goes along with the justification. Lab Report Osmosis on Potatoe Practical Work Nº2: Different methods to control osmosis Aim: observe and test the process of osmosis through different kinds of methods: the weigh (potato), the density (beetroot) and under the light microscope (onion). Hypothesis: according to the encyclopedia definition osmosis is the diffusion of a liquid (most often assumed to be water, but it can be any liquid solvent) through a partially permeable membrane from a region of high solvent potential to a region of low solvent potential. Thus, this is what will happen. Teacher s instructions: ▪ We shouldn t forget to include the experimental error in the results exposed in the recollection of data. ▪ How to prepare a dilute solution from a more concentrated one: Vf . ... [pic] Conclusion: Within this experiment we could verify the passage of water from a region of high concentration through a region of a lower concentration for when the potato was surrounded by a concentrated environment (lower water potential) the potato lost mass, and when it was surrounded by a dilute environment (higher water potential) it gained mass. We could also estimate, with the graph, the concentration at which the potato neither loses nor gains mass, that is when the water potential inside the potato is equal to the one outside. • 27. Our Town Quotes Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? every, every minute? (Emily Webb, Act III) Our Town presents life as it truly is; as humans, we tend to only remember the big events in our life, and neglect the minute details. Throughout the book, Wilder entertains the notion that humans have learned to seemingly distance themselves from anything that doesn t have immediate value to their memories. Our Town proves this notion by examining key aspects of the average person s life in Grover s Corners childhood and marriage. To quote the Stage Manager as they exclaim in Act I, This is the way we were: in our growing up and in our marrying and in our living and in our dying . .As children, things always seemed to go over our heads. ... • 28. The Ottoman Empire ( 1299 ) Essay Empire, Ottoman The Ottoman Empire (1299?1923) was a Turkish Muslim state that existed for more than six hundred years. It was one of the largest and longest lived empires in history, and it represented one of the greatest civilizations of the modern period. Its territories, at its height, included Anatolia (part of present day Turkey), the Middle East, parts of East and North Africa, and southeastern Europe, comprising a total area of more than 22 million square kilometers (about 8.5 million square miles). The Ottoman state was established by a tribe of Oghuz Turks as one of many small Turkish principalities that emerged in Anatolia during the Mongolian breakdown of the Anatolian Seljuk State. The state was ruled by the Ottoman dynasty of the Kayi tribe. The dynasty was founded by Osman I (ca. 1258?1324; in English, Ottoman) in S?g??t, in the Marmara region of modern Turkey. THE PERIOD OF ESTABLISHMENT AND EXPANSION Situated on the borders of the tottering Byzantine Empire, Osman I quickly became a warrior of Islam, attracting the attention of wandering ghazis, or warriors for the faith, in Anatolia. In 1299 the Byzantine city Bilecik fell to Turks. This conquest was followed by the fall of many other Byzantine cities, villages, and forts during the early 1300s. Some of the nearby Turkish beyliks (principalities) and tribes were also taken over before Osman s death around 1324. Osman s son Orhan (r. 1326?1362) conquered Bursa in 1326. Essay On Air Awareness Currently there is a large amount of research based on the use of the system and its benefits, although there is nothing in current research that shows the saturation of awareness in the aviation community. Some of the current research highlights the great benefits of the system, including the mass gathering of data to identify specific problems within the safety sector. Such as Cardosi, Falzarano, Han (2008) research based on ASRS reports, where they analyzed 386 reports from the program database and gathered data which yielded a lot of results on the contributing factors of pilot controller communication errors. By providing the users with its benefits of confidentiality and partial immunity, it draws people in to report the problems that will be used for future identifications and research. Several researchers have already used the data provided by the system to create further safety information within the aviation field, although the amount of data the gathered was rather limited and needed a further boost, which the ASRS system can provide if the majority of personnel are aware of its existence. Furthermore, a majority of the research literature so far has all been based on the data that the ASRS has stored, but almost no research has been done on the ASRS awareness within the aviation community. If the proper research is done on the ASRS and the knowledge of it of the aviation sector, the field would view a greatly increased input of data and create a truly preventative system that create an overall safer environment. The current state of awareness of the ASRS system within the aviation community is severely inconspicuous and under used. Through the proposed research, additional data will be collected to clearly identify a percentage of people that are aware of the ASRS program and know how to utilize it. The proposed hypothesis of this research project is that the ASRS reporting system has a large gap in the awareness and identification of the current system. To identify ... The project will investigate on securing the network from various attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), DHCP attack. Different security measures will be discussed through which the user can establish a secured network. These security measures will be implemented over SDN. 3.) Objectives: The main objective of this project is to enhance the security of a network using various modern day technologies. 1) The enhancement in the security of the network will mitigate the attacks like Denial of Service attacks. 2) It will also help in controlling the data and control plane of the networking devices, which will enable more options to enhance the security. The project focusses on using the advantages and applications of the Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology. By implementing Security measures in SDN, one can develop a network that will be free from several network attacks like ping attack, TCP SYN attack, probing, Denial of Service, Distributed Denial of Service and several other scanning attacks. Another point to mention is that if an administrator had to implement all these security measures in a traditional network, he would have to configure all the networking equipment separately with the ...
