Personal Narrative-The Hunters
The Hunters To survive was the greatest challenge that I d ever faced in my life. Hello, I m Harry, and
I was subjected to something that I d never forget, mainly due to my PTSD... So, yeah. Anyway, we ll
get into that later; let s start at the beginning. The messages started on a day like any other; I didn t
think much of the first message when it came. That day, after I came home from school, after a tiring
day of math and science, I decided to go up to my room to chill out. As I walked up the stairs, a
feeling of uncertainty came over me. It just felt... odd. Once I started to near my room, the feeling
intensified. A gymnast started doing flips in my stomach as I neared the door, and finally, when I
opened the door, this feeling was finally justified. When I walked in, my room was a disaster; clothes,
bedsheets, and books were strewn everywhere. The paint on my walls was torn up, exposing the
drywall underneath and my closet door was ripped off of its hinges. I could barely breathe as there
was a thick cloud of dust that filled the room. For a moment I stood there wondering what the heck
just happened, but the worst was yet to come. When the dust finally cleared, I saw a message scrawled
onto my wall in a primitive script. WE RE COMING, the message read. After seeing this, I bolted
from the room and got my mother up into my room, where she oddly didn t notice anything wrong.
Thus, I wondered why, and lo and behold, the room was exactly the way that it had been before the
message showed up. I was shocked. The message baffled me, but I thought that ... Show more content

Neoteny Essay
should cycle for a few weeks prior to introducing axolotls into their new home so filter bacteria
develop (Look, 2007).
Biology
Neoteny Axolotls have a neotenic nature which means they do not undergo metamorphosis and stay in
the larval state their entire lives (Jolles, 2013). The adaptation of neoteny is often referred to as a
backward step in evolution since it prevents axolotls from living on land like other salamanders
(Clare, 1999). All salamanders are born in water, but only some stay while others congregate to land
once they are adults. Those that stay in the water for their entire lives are considered aquatic
salamanders, while the ones that move to land at some point are either semi aquatic or terrestrial
(Masters, 2016). Axolotls are considered aquatic salamanders since they will remain in water due to
their neoteny. They will grow to an average adult size for a salamander, but their limbs will remain ...

Axolotls often lose limbs because they mistake them for food or play too roughly with other
salamanders, but they can easily regrow the lost parts within a short span of a couple weeks. The
regeneration occurs from the formation of a bud at the end of the damaged limb, which is where the
lost portion will grow back (Clare, 1999). Axolotls can regrow skin, feet, entire limbs, jaws, and
portions of their brain and spine. They can also receive transplanted organs from other Mexican
salamanders, and their bodies will easily accept the transplants without rejection (Lewis, 2013). This
strange ability relies entirely on the axolotls immune systems; immune cells called macrophages are
fully responsible for the regeneration process of missing body parts. Macrophages are also present in
mammals, where they help heal a sudden injury or wound. That mechanism is the same in axolotls,
but rather than just healing a wound, it fully regenerates the lost limb (Lewis,

Examples Of Cross Cultural Conflict In The Tiger s Daughter
Introduction The Tiger s Daughter by Bharati Mukherjee is a realistic novel of the dual culture based
identity of the author who faces the mental duality due to the changes in the culture in the long left
India. She found difficult to adapt to the culture, customs, and traditions, which she depicts through
her female protagonists cultural crisis. The proposed study is an attempt to throw light on to the cross
cultural conflict of the 22 year old Tara when she revisits India after a seven year stay in the United
States. It highlights the cultural turmoil faced by Tara when she refuses to accept Calcutta as her home
again. This study also attempts to portray how the novelist herself intimately projects her own self
through the novel. The Tiger s Daughter and wife are about two different problems of expatriates. The

The preamble of the term alienation by Karl Marx in the last decade of the 19th century has been
invigorated in the mid 20th century with the progression of migration. In the social sciences,
Assimilation is an approach towards incorporation and amalgamation, through which, not only
immigrants but also other marginalized groups African Americans in American, women in society,

The major and foremost concern of all postmodern writers has been the life of South Asian expatriates
and the dilemma of acculturation and assimilation. Acculturation is the depressing upshot of post

Comparing the Iconography and Mythology of Two Major Hindu Deities
In Hindu tradition, Brahma created the universe, Vishnu maintained it and Shiva destroyed it. These
three gods comprise the Hindu trinity (the trimurti) and are considered to be the leading gods of the
religion, especially Brahma, who is the oldest of all the gods. This point is questionable though as the
Visnu Purana talks of Brahma emerging from Vishnu s navel to maintain the world after Vishnu has
created it and then he returns to the navel after Shiva has destroyed it. If this is the case then Vishnu s
position as a god is elevated from merely the maintainer to the creator. This essay intends to compare

It is when he awakens out of this sleep that Brahma appears from Vishnu s navel enfolded in a lotus as
mentioned above. Vishnu is also seen riding, sometimes with his wife Laksmi, but mainly he is
represented as one of his incarnations or avataras.
Unlike Shiva, Vishnu is particularly associated with his avataras and by the end of the Puranic period
he was especially connected with ten of these manifestations. These were Vamana (the ignorant
dwarf), Kurma (the tortoise), Matsya (the fish), Narasimha (the man lion), Varaha (the boar),
Parasurama (Rama with the axe), Kalki (the white horse), Rama, Buddha and of course the most
popular of all his incarnations, Krishna. Vishnu incarnates into the world from time to time to preserve
or to reinstate righteousness (Herman, 1991:107). Krishna being his principle avatara, is often seen
slaying demons and so is considered a hero. He also teaches the discipline of karma yoga, meaning the
way of selfless action (Herman, 1991:179), to Arjuna the warrior hero and the dialogue is written
down in the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna is in disguise and offers Arjuna guidance, advising that one
should acct selflessly without thinking of the rewards and should be satisfied in offering action in the
name of the lord. Since Krishna is only a manifestation, it is actually Vishnu who is behind this
teaching of devotion, proving himself to be a praiseworthy and

The Business Environment Of Nigeria And Norway Essay
Question 1The concept of Business EnvironmentBusiness environment can be understood as the
combination of all environmental conditions and influences that are capable of affecting or influencing
business activities. According to Anyanwu et al (1996) defines the environment of business as the
aggregation of the pattern of all the external and internal conditions and influences that affect the
existence, growth and development of the business. Opportunities and threats may be associated with
external environment while the strengths and weakness may be associated with internal environment
of the business (Audu, 2010a).In this paper, we will compare the business environment of two
countries namely: Nigeria and Norway. The reason for choosing these two countries include the fact
that both are part of the top ten net oil exporting nations for which hydrocarbon exports account for
more than 40% of total exports. We will compare and contrast the fiscal policy of both countries and

Individualism In The House On Mango Street
Let your home be your mast and not your anchor, said Kahlil Gibran, exposing the unneeded focus on
materialism to keep people in a harsh cycle of poverty. Expressing an idea that materialistic should not
force stigma and should show individualism, Gibran provides insight into the bullying through goods.
In this way, he relates to Cisneros s ideas through the usage of a house as a metaphor for good created
feelings of shame. In Sandra Cisneros s House on Mango Street, Esperanza s contesting views on her
impoverished house demonstrate that she accepts her role in poverty, one of being left helpless and
exploited by callous bullies and one of shamed individualism. Using Esperanza s view of her house as
an unlikable symbol that deteriorates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During one of Esperanza s wishful daydreams, she delineates what she wants to own, saying, A house
all to my own. With my porch and my pillow (Cisneros 43). Perpetuating my , Esperanza shows that
she wants her house to show that she is an individual who is not to be shamed by what she lives in.
This image of individualism is expanded through the stress on own . In a similar fashion, while
thinking about foreign neighborhoods, Esperanza thinks, All brown all around, we are safe. But watch
us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity shake and our car windows get
rolled up tight and our eyes look straight . Esperanza shows that she feels safe when there is all brown
all around , further emphasizing her point of being an individual. The usage of the home in this case
represents a flaw of Esperanza and how it is bad to be in a different home than her. Later, Cisneros
utilizes Esperanza s fantasy of her aspiration to own her house, One day I ll own my own house, but I
won t forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? I ll offer them the
attic, ask them to stay, because I know how it is to be without a house . Her house acts as a
compassionate being, such as her dream is to be. It also represents her desire to remain sturdy and

A Teacher s Lack Of Professionalism
I interviewed several people from a range of positions. An assistant principal, a special education lead,
and several teachers. 1. A lack of services being provided to a dyslexic student due to overwhelming
amount of responsibilities given to the head of special education created a conflict among the head of
the program, the counselor, the administrator, and the parent. 2. Loss of trust and animosity among a
team based on one teacher s lack of professionalism. The team took turns making lesson plans,
locating resources, and creating rotating substitute plans. One of the teachers rarely had her portions of
the work done causing the other members of the team to scramble around getting a lesson together at
the last minute. This teacher also called in sick several times and waited until a few minutes before
school started to call one of the other s and ask them to provide a lesson for the substitute. This
conflict escalated to the Dean of Instruction. 3. Two teachers who were married and working on the
same campus and same department when one of them was suspended for inappropriate conduct with a
student created conflict within the department. 4. A math teacher followed the directions of the district
math coordinator to give a test that used unethical racial stereotypes in the word problems. 5. A

Energy Is The Biological Conversion Of Plant Energy And...
Carbon is always cycling around the earth, whether it s plants or animals, both require carbon. Plants
get it from taking carbon dioxide from the oxygen that is in the air. Plants then use this and the
sunlight s energy to make food for themselves. Animals get energy by eating the plants or eating other
animals that have eaten those plants. During cell respiration, oxygen and food both provide energy.
Respiration makes then carbon dioxide, which is then put out into the atmosphere. But if there is too
much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there needs to be a solution to reduce it so no harm is caused
to the Earth. Photosynthesis is the biological conversion of light energy into chemical energy. It occurs
in green plants and photosynthetic bacteria through a series of many biochemical reactions
(Ensminger,2014). The equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O+light energy → C6H1206+6O2.
Cellular Respiration is the process by which organisms combine oxygen with food stuff molecules,
diverting the chemical energy in these substances into life sustaining processes and discarding, as
waste products, carbon dioxide and water (Cell Respiration,2017). The equation for cellular
respiration is C6H1206+6O2 → 6H2O+ 36 ATP. Photosynthesis are green plant who create their own
food and it takes place in the chloroplast of the plant cells. Cellular Respiration are living things
converted into oxygen and also the process take place in the mitochondria in the cells. Both cell

Bleeding Kansas Themes
Chase Nichols History, Civics, Social Responsibility Mr. Kaufmann Movie Review The West: Episode
4 (Death Runs Riot) In the 1850 s, more American pioneers moved west, bringing with them slavery
that would ignite the Civil War. Tactics that had defeated the armies of the South would then begin to
be used against the Native Americans of the West. In Bleeding Kansas, abolitionists battle for free
soil. In Utah, federal troops march against Mormon their practice of polygamy. The war between
North and South unleashes visceral savagery in the West, and leaves behind an army prepared for total
war against the Native Americans of the plains. Introductory comments suggest that the West, at least

Julia Lovejoy, an antislavery advocate who had recently moved to Kansas, provides some narrative
unity for the first theme. Her letters, written to relatives in New Hampshire, detail the horrors of
bleeding Kansas. The second theme is told effectively from the perspective of Black Kettle, the
Cheyenne peace chief, whose people were the victims of both Colonel John Chivington s massacre at
Sand Creek, Colorado, and George Armstrong Custer s 1868 attack on the banks of the Washita River.
Individual segments, which could be shown separately or safely omitted, tell the stories of: Samuel
Clemens sharpening his wit in his early years as a reporter in Nevada City; and John D. Lee, who led
the Mormons in a massacre of a wagon train at Mountain Meadows. This tragic incident, controversial
both then and now, is explained in the context of rising American hostility toward Mormons, and the
latter group s fears of the U.S. Army marching against them toward Salt

Evolution And Development Within Our Society
Designed Humanity You cannot tell which one is which, as they all look to be average. But then you
see the identical ones, the ones with technology infused artificial joints, or the ones whom poses a
slight fluorescent skin. And by the time you notice it, they are everywhere and you are the only true
human left. As time reaches further, we find ourselves living in the new age of technology, political
rivalries, and weapons of mass destruction that are no longer radical cartoonists ideas from the
television series Roadrunner. This upward rollercoaster of evolution and development within our
society leaves one to ponder over one crucial thing: how will it all come crashing down? There are
many elements around us that could lead to our own horrifying conclusion and it becomes a simple
coin toss to decide our fate. But as many scientistic developments and fictional novels have foretold,
the desperate search for the advancement of the human race itself can come as glimpse into the mystic
future or possibly the end of us completely. Genetic mutations, at first a simple random mole found of
the exterior of the body and the shade of blue of one s eye seem to be innocent developments in
human appearance, but has soon evolved into a evolution shortcut. The increasing development and
advancement in genetic research and deliberate mutation originates from the eternal and illusionistic
desire for human perfection. The term of human remains the ordinary description in which we

Twentieth Century America
Faderman takes a decidedly social constructionist analysis as she examines lesbian life in Twentieth
Century America, arguing from the start that its definition has less to do with innate same sex
attraction than with external sociopolitical influences. It is apparent that in the debate between the
essentialist lesbians and existentially lesbians she offers no apologies (and plenty of reasons) in siding
with the latter. Not only does she explore how the sub culture continually responds to external
pressures such as conservative politics and institutional biases but deeply analyzes how then the
community expands and contracts to its marginalization and oppression. For instance, she describes
numerous times (such as the butch/femme role enactment and the demand for a regulated sexual
intercourse between women in the 1970 s) when the lesbian community and corresponding social
movement enacts various border patrolling and internal policing to maintain its strict identity as
women to keep the pressure and agents of the patriarchy outside. It is this policing and its motives I
find so applicable to my work. The lesbian community has undergone many tribulations as a targeted

its different iterations throughout the 20th Century) she cannot imagine this metamorphosis
encapsulating transsexual lesbians. It seems that, much like those lesbian/cultural feminists she
critiques, she too has fallen victim inside an essentialist version of the

Who Is Kneeling During The National Anthem
I disagree with the idea of kneeling during the national anthem. I disagree with kneeling because it is
very disrespectful to people who have served in the military or any other person who has served to
protect our country or keep our streets safe and fight for our freedom. Also, when anybody kneels
during any countries national anthem, it can make that person look bad and very disrespectful. When a
person kneels during an anthem, it make not only the person look bad, but it can lead to other people
to follow their example. This is what happened last year, when Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for
San Francisco, started kneeling during the anthem. This led to other players all over the league sitting
on the bench or, in recent weeks, not coming out from the locker room all during the anthem. This is
protected by the first amendment rights, but it is not the smartest or most favorable way of expressing
yourself or making a statement. Colin Kaepernick stated that he wouldn t stand for a country that was
racist against people of color and different ethnicity . Kaepernick has a right to think and state this, but
he should not kneel during the anthem of the United States of America. Since all of this started up last
year, it has gotten even bigger during this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Prejudice In Baseball
To be created in a certain period of time or certain types of people alter the way one s mindset is
raised. Spending significant amounts of time with certain people will influence one will think or
judge. Prejudice and stereotypes work hand on hand. Prejudice is how one feels about someone
positive or negative knowingly and non knowingly. Many of the stereotypes one judges another is due
to the judgement that is created for one with certain characteristics. It depends on the person if they
would let a stereotype define who they are and how they treat others. The stereotypes in the sports

majority of the National Basketball Association are black players. An athlete is restricted to perform to
their full potential and prove the stereotype wrong because of the judgment that was made because of
their appearance. Not only does a stereotype restrain but also expects so much from one person. To
say there was a basketball game in play at the moment and a black is to be blocked by a white man is
heading to the basket, just as the black man is about to make their shot it is blocked by the white man.
Many fans are in shock but why? Many were expecting the black man to make it simply because he is
black, he was made to make it. The black man was expected to make the shot without any trouble,
while the white man was supposed to struggle greatly trying to stop the shot that was meant to happen.
While the white man tried proving a stereotype wrong, it is the black man who is getting the most
attention because he let many down. An athlete is judged and expected to do good in the sport they are

My Reflective Web Media Creation
My Reflective Web Media Creation (RWMC) project was nearly exactly as I envisioned it in the pitch
with only a few changes. In the pitch I discussed how the lead character (Matt Murdoch) would be
explain to the Jury why Fair Dealing is not stealing and he would be the Punishers lawyer. However, I
changed it in the final video making him the plaintiff, a company lawyer saying the defendant (
Punisher ) stole their content and he is not protected by Fair Dealing . I changed it to this as I believed
it would make the video more narratively engaging, making the Punishers outburst more provoked and
meaningful. I also removed the self referential element where the Punisher was going to comment on
how the video was flipped and colour graded so it would not come up on YouTube copyright detection
system. I changed this element as I believed it would make my RWMC more focused and comedic in
a serious way. The elements I changed after I presented my RWMC piece were both things the
markers and classmates commented on. They said some of the subtitles in the first half went by too
fast, so they struggled to read everything being said before the subtitle changed. To remedy this I
changed the subtitles from the first half of the video to make it more concise and easier to read,

my classmates and markers told me. I also fixed the spelling and grammatical errors that were

The ENIAC ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer. It was introduced on
February 15, 1946 and was the very first digital and electronically run computer. It was created in the
United States at the University of Pennsylvania and its original purpose was to calculate artillery firing

with its many parts. Its complexity was prominent, containing approximately 18,000 vacuum tubes,
70,000 resistors, 10,000 capacitors, thousands of switches, and 1,500 relays. It produced calculations
that, if done by hand, would have taken much longer to achieve. For example in one second, the
ENIAC could solve 5,000 additions. In 1946 John Mauchly

scholarship espoused by the Fulbright program. Early in my time here I became interested in the
differences in cultural activities, food, and ideologies between provinces. These differences intrigued
me because of the small size of the country and the current ease of transport. This initial observation
led me to the research

The Political Art Of Art
Professor Sarah Tamez
Art 1301.09
November 23, 2015 Political Art Art can be expressed in many forms but one of the best has got to be
political art, as it expresses art in a relevant form for many to understand, it doesn t require knowledge
in history. It puts out a statement in a bold way so that people may better understand what is trying to
be expressed. Many artists use art in topics like reproductive rights, equality, gun control, human
rights, the environment and war to express desire for change. One of the most outspoken political
artists is Barbara Kruger, who has had her work installed in many well known museums. Kruger has
become even more known because of her relevance using art to criticize well known public figures
like Kim Kardashian and George W. Bush, she has also been a proud supporter of reproductive rights.
One of her most known works is Your body is a battleground which was printed in 1989 in her support
for the March for Women s Lives . To show the positive and negatives sides of the inner struggle, the
good and the evil. She has a reputation of supporting feminism ideas but she hasn t stopped there, she
s even had her work put on display in the Hirshhorn Museum. She has gotten the attention of The New
York Times and The Los Angeles Times because of her distinctive contemporary works. The beauty of
her art is that it relates to many, her art ranges from domestic violence to compulsive shopping and
everything in between, it is also really easy

Financial reporting in an uncertain economy
A closer look at income tax valuation allowances October 2009
Additional text goes here. Heading 3
Additional text goes here. Notwithstanding early signs that the global recession may be waning, the
uncertain economic future continues to constrict corporate America. As companies continue to incur
losses, focus has heightened on income tax valuation allowance assessments by companies and their
auditors, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission staff, through the issuance of comment
letters. Specifically, much of this focus is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While not defined by ASC 740, practice has generally been to consider the most recent three years
when assessing cumulative losses. Positive evidence of sufficient quantity and quality would be
needed to overcome this significant negative evidence and conclude that a valuation allowance is not
warranted. As with all elements of available evidence, a cumulative loss is simply one data point it is
not a bright line test that is in and of itself determinative of the need for a valuation allowance. To
illustrate, assume that a company is in a three year cumulative income position of $10 million, but the
results of the past three years have flipped from income to losses (2006: income of $100 million;
2007: loss of $30 million; 2008: loss of $60 million). Does the fact that the company is still in a three
year cumulative income position at the end of 2008 automatically suggest that a valuation allowance is
not warranted? On the other hand, assume a company had previously recorded a full valuation
allowance and incurred a loss of $100 million in 2008, but earned $30 million in 2009 and $60 million
in 2010. Does the fact that the company is still in a

Essay on Evolution
Essay on Evolution
There are many mechanisms that lead to evolutionary change. One of the most important mechanism
in evolution is natural selection which is the differential success in the reproduction of different
phenotypes resulting from the interaction of organisms with their environment. Natural selection
occurs when a environment makes a individual adapt to that certain environment by variations that
arise by mutation and genetic recombination. Also it favors certain traits in a individual than other
traits so that these favored traits will be presented in the next generation. Another mechanism of
evolution is genetic drift. Genetic drift is a random change in a small gene pool due to sampling errors
in propagation of alleles or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some bacteria had genes that coded for enzymes that specifically destroyed certain antibiotics such as
ampicillin. From this incident, scientists were able to deduce that natural selection helped the bacteria
to inherit the genes for antibiotic resistance. Scientists have also been able to use biochemistry as a
source of evidence. The comparison of genes of two species is the most direct measure of common
inheritance from shared ancestors. Using DNA DNA hybridization, whole genomes can be compared
by measuring the extent of hydrogen bonding between single stranded DNA obtained from two
sources. The similarity of the two genes can be seen by how tightly the DNA of one specie bonds to
the DNA of the other specie. Many taxonomic debates have been answered using this method such as
whether flamingos are more closely related to storks or geese. This method compared the DNA of the
flamingo to be more closely related to the DNA of the stork than the geese. The only disadvantage of
this method is that it does not give precise information about the matchup in specific nucleotide
sequences of the DNA which restriction mapping does. This technique uses restriction enzymes that
recognizes a specific sequence of a few nucleotides and cleaves DNA wherever such sequences are
found in the genome. Then the DNA fragments are separated by electrophoresis and compared to

The Theme Of Death In The Book Thief
The unification of reality and narration displays the vast elaboration of humanity s understandings and
knowledge. The post colonial criticism, against certain characters of the text, The Book Thief set in
1939 war periods with the power of Adolf Hitler, applies a diaspora lens upon our perceptions towards
this horrific event of our history. The narrator portrayed as Death in the context, can be seen as a
major theme in both the narration and the reality in our understanding of humanity. Adding to the idea
of themes depicted in the text, the human capacity for both kindness and cruelty is also shown through
the contrast between two distinct faces of human race described in the novel. This which leads to the
complex and varied human experiences, which we may consider as friendship or on the other hand,
the loss of a persona in the context. It is within certain texts like these in which we may be inspired to
realisation referring to the vast elaboration of humanity s existence. Eventually, we come to a full
worth of recognition upon the reason for how the complexity of humanity s existence may be
emphasised as, through themes in both textual and the factual references in our human experiences.

How ATVs Work Essay
Thesis statement: All terrain vehicles are helpful and useful and I will explain how they work and how
to fix them in this paper.
Outline: Inn this paper I will discuss ATV s and general knowledge and getting them wet. I also will

What is an ATV? It is an All Terrain Vehicle, also called three or four wheelers. It is also called a quad
or ATV. An ATV is built to go where other vehicles cannot go. ATV s are also built to handle a lot of
stress and abuse. ATV s are virtually indestructible; however, they have a few weaknesses and it is

Essay about Public Grazing Lands
The grazing of public lands has become a very controversial issue over the last couple of decades.
This is due to the fact that there are some people who believe that grazing the land is beneficial to the
wildlife and the different plant species there. Then there are other people who have the belief that the
grazing of livestock on public lands is detrimental to wildlife and plant health. Therefore, they believe
that it is actually doing more harm than good.
What are Public Grazing Lands? Public lands are properties that are not owned by private land
owners, but instead are owned by the federal government. Ranchers are given permits or leases to
graze their livestock on these government owned lands. The government agency that has been ... Show

in, Counterpoint: opportunities lost and opportunities gained: separating truth from myth in the
western ranching debate , after the passage of the Taylor Grazing Act the Congress started to use the
Forest Service s system of allocating grazing lands. There were three purposes for passing the act 1) to
regulate occupancy of remaining public lands; 2) protect rangelands from harm; and 3) to stabilize the
livestock industry (Stimpert). The passage of the act gave power to the Secretary of Interior to create
grazing districts on public lands (Stimpert). The Taylor Grazing Act also has the BLM regulate the
occupancy and use of a grazing district. According to Stimpert, the act balance the need to protect
ranchers with the need to protect rangelands.
BLM and Management Aspects
The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land and of those lands they manage 157 million
grazing livestock. The BLM website states that the terms and conditions for grazing livestock on BLM

The Beat Poetry Revolution Of The 1950-1960s
Every revolution has begun with a vision. The beat poetry rebellion s just happened to be opioid
induced. Picture this: the 1950 s. With the threat of nuclear war on the horizon during the Cold War,
the citizens of the United States began to detest their government. In 1952, homosexuality was
officially classed as a mental disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In
1955, Allen Ginsberg first performed Howl, which would soon become the most widely controversial
beat poem, including scenes of illegal drugs and illegal sex practices. What is considered obscene
when the government demolishes entire cities without blinking an eye? What are the limits? The beat
poetry revolution of the 1950 60s was influenced by the New Vision, which compromised the current
cultural beliefs of sexuality, religion, and drug use. The beat poetry revolution (or beat generation )
was a movement that spread through New York City and San Francisco during the late 1940 s to the
end of the 1960 s. This movement was created to free poetry from the strains of academia and
therefore, it allowed expressive and sexualized poetry to be spoken and presented to the public.
According to a common dictionary, poetry is a piece of writing that has the intention of evoking
emotion from the reader or listener using style and rhythm. The beats changed the perception of what
was acceptable. Free verse poetry (poetry written without rhyme or structure) was blended with
spoken word to

to the protein binding pocket [7, 1]. This high affinity binding is explained by the ability of
dexamethasone to form both hydrophobic as well as hydrophilic interactions. Each atom of
dexamethasone interacts with at least one of the hydrophobic residues from the GR LBD binding core.
The hydrophilic interactions is formed by hydrogen bonds between the hydrophilic groups (hydroxyl

GR binding pocket is able to bind glucocorticoids, while MR binding pocket can bind
mineralocorticoids only. Glucocorticoids (like dexamethasone) have a 17alpha hydroxyl group at their

this hydroxyl group is absent at mineralocorticoids, then, GR LBD cannot bind by hydrogen bond to
mineralocorticoids. Furthermore, it was proposed that the leucine (hydrophobic residue) of MR inhibit
the hydrogen bond formation between glucocorticoids and the MR. Obviously, the selectivity of GR to
glucocorticoids is a result of both the side pocket formation and the ability to form hydrogen bonds
with glucocorticoid. [1,

Public Vs. Public Schools

Public vs Non Public School Labor Markets
Private versus public education, good versus bad, rich versus poor. A debate that has greatly impacted
our society for centuries. Guided by inaccurate perceptions of each side, society has created a
misunderstanding of the two types of education and what they represent, resulting in a competitive
teacher labor market for public and private schools K 12. With the question, is there a difference
between teaching in a public or private school? If so, which one has the advantage in the labor

Every parent wants their child to receive the best education possible, in preparation for the future. This
leads to the question, what factors determine a school more desirable for receiving an education? If
every student is presented with the same material, then what is difference between attending a public
high school versus a private high school? Both of these questions can be answered with one simple
word, teachers. Like any other occupation, the employer is looking to find the best candidate suitable
for a certain position. Schools are looking to find the best teachers to employ in hopes of increasing
student achievement, resulting in a good overall reputation of the school. Thus creating a competitive
labor market for teachers.
History:
Schooling in America originated in the 18th century, with the creation of privatized schooling.
Selective students were given the opportunity to study various subjects. Most of the students who
were given an opportunity to attend school at that time were white and came from wealthy families,
and unlike today, most of the teachers were male. The formation of public schools didn t happen until
the 1840 s, which was created by the government in effort to provide education to those who could not
afford it at the time. The most qualified teachers were often found teaching in the private schools,
leaving the less qualified teachers in the public schools.

Ronald Reagan s Economic Policies
Although he was a generally controversial president, Ronald Reagan s policy decisions to stimulate
economic prosperity, known as Reaganomics, were legitimately beneficial to the United States of
America. First, in order to substantiate the success of Reagan s economic policy decisions one must
first grasp the varying levels of importance for each aspect of his plan. As Reagan s policies were
substantial decisions that defined his presidency and alienated an entire population of more
economically liberal people, it makes sense that an understanding of his emphasis on certain decisions
would lead to a more persuasive argument. Next, the negation of well formed and logical criticisms of
Reagan s economic policies also lend to the support of their benefits and success. Acknowledging a
sensible counterargument and addressing specific points of critical analysis serves to further enhance
the argument for the success of Reagan s decisions. Furthermore, strong economic growth and the
curbing of federal domestic power reinforce the accomplishments of Reaganomics. Though the U.S.
did see economic growth, Reaganomics was not purely an economic plan, as cuts in government
power, not including the military, benefitted the average American citizen. Moreover, Ronald Reagan
s economic decisions regarding Soviet foreign policy were also extremely beneficial to the United
States. The tough decisions to further the national deficit proved a worthy sacrifice in pressuring the

Avoiding Roof Repair In Salt Lake House
One of the joys of owning your own home is that you will never run out of things to do. From mowing
the lawn and raking to maintaining the furnace, your list of homeowner duties could be quite long.
With so much keeping you on your toes year round, you will probably want to find a way to avoid
unnecessary problems. For example, making repairs to your roof after it has been damaged by a tree.
If you want to avoid roof repair in Salt Lake City, UT, here are a few things to look out for if you have
a tree in your yard. Branches: Trees are known to have overhanging branches that are often a nuisance
to homeowners. If your home wasn t so important to you, you may not be bothered by this, but
branches pose a serious threat to your roof. Tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may seem like there is little destruction that can be done by leaves, but this isn t exactly true. When
leaves fall from trees and start to pile up on your roof, they are trapping in moisture, which can come
from rain and snow. Over time, you could start to experience warping, leaks, rotting and weakened
support beams. Weight: If a tree were to fall on a house, the roof could easily be destroyed. When
trees are dead or diseased, they are unstable. This instability would make anyone worry about how
long the tree will last and how much damage would be caused if it were to fall. Depending on the
weight of the tree, there is a chance little damage will be caused, but there is no guaranteeing that no
damage will be done to your roof or your entire home. Pests: The trees near your home are actually
home to pests and insects. With the trees being so close to your home, these pests and insects can
easily make their way to your roof and cause damage. For example, raccoons, birds, termites and more
can eat your roof, loosen shingles and pretty much destroy your roof over time. To put a stop to this
and prevent easy access to your roof, any long, overhanging branches should be

God Created Humanity For A Purpose
Assess the claim that god created humanity for a purpose
It can be argued that god did create humanity for a purpose, as why would he endow us with sense,
reason and intellect if he intended us to forgo their use? It therefore logically follows that we must
have some purpose, hidden or not that we are expected to fulfil, also why would the bible detail the
creation of humans in such detail as is demonstrated in genesis 2, why would god, in this story,
prioritise mankind over all others when the purpose if said entities is made apparent as animals are
made to feed man, so if god endeavoured to assign a purpose to those supposedly subservient to
mankind, why would he not give a purpose for mankind to fulfil, why also, according to the ... Show

However this is also subject to a counter argument, as perhaps it could be argued that god has
endowed us with intellect, so perhaps we are supposed to use that intellect to discern what our purpose
is, in my personal opinion, it is naïve to suggest that mankind has a singular purpose, as I believe that
our purpose is ever changing and exists in a constant state of flux, as our purpose cannot be simply to
worship god, or to reproduce, no, I believe that mankind does not have a singular purpose as such, as
is implied in the question, as would god not have endowed us simply with the qualities necessary in
order to fulfil a singular purpose, therefore unless said purpose was extremely intricate in its
guidelines, we would have been left with qualities missing, as if our purpose was simply to worship
god, why would god give us the sense of knowledge that leads us to question his very existence,
would it not be beneficial for him to limit us in our intellect, that we will flourish as a species but not
be granted the capability for critical analysis which leads us to doubt

recommendations on how to improve the company. This analysis will describe the culture, nature of
the company, motivational techniques, and modes of communication used. I will provide information
about the company to ensure that the readers understand all of the different categories used to analyze
the company. Information on how individuals, and groups of people behave within the organization is
examined within. I will also be evaluating their leadership techniques and how the owners assist in the
day to day running of the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is important
for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters. Managers must
study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired goals.
Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface
between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. (Griffin, 2012) We can
divide organizational behavior in 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the
organization. The second is the work group which is made by placing workers into specific groups.
The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Essay
Sudden cardiac arrest
Sudden cardiac arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.
When this happens blood stops flowing to the brain and other vital organs. Arrhythmias can cause
SCA. An arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat and what causes an arrhythmia is when the electrical
system that controls the rate and rhythm of the heart isn t functioning properly. During an arrhythmia
the heart can beat too fast too slow or an irregular rhythm. Some arrhythmias can cause the heart to
stop pumping blood to the body which causes SCA. Some people think that SCA is the same as a heart
attack, but a heart attack happens if the blood flow to part of the heart muscle is blocked. During a
heart attack the heart doesn t usually suddenly stopped beating, however SCA can happen after or
during recovery from a heart attack. People who have heart disease are at a higher risk for SCA
however it still possible for people who appear to be healthy and have no known heart disease to have
SCA. Most people who have SCA do die from it within minutes. Fast treatment of SCA with a

another type of arrhythmia. During ventricular fibrillation the heart s lower ... Show more content on

Roles Of Queen Gertrude
In Hamlet, Queen Gertrude is a major role in the development of Hamlet s character. She is the
immoral mother figure who argues against her son throughout the book. Despite this, she does not
display authority roles and decisions, unlike her modern day counterparts. Queen Gertrude exhibited a
lack of authority, despite being a Queen, and is comparable to that of the modern woman, who display
more independent and leadership roles. Gertrude is not independent in the slightest. The concept of
fierceness is prevalent in today s society. Women can hold their own, have a say in what they do, and
what their destiny is. Gertrude, however, let fate take course over her life. Her former husband, King
Hamlet, was allegedly killed by his brother, Claudius. Half way through the play, Hamlet organizes a
play called The Murder of Gonzo, to guilt trip Claudius into revealing whether he killed his brother or
not. Featured in the play are representatives of the current King and Queen. The Player King says

Often dreams stay just as dreams and maybe you even forget them too. You watch TV and suddenly

A normal meal for us may be the same for them as food for a whole month or so. Do what your heart

Student Diversity In Public Schools
Schools and classrooms of today contain an increasingly diverse population of students. As of 2012
percentage of white students in public schools has decreased from 59% to 51%. It is projected that by
2024 the percentage of white students will continue to decrease to 46% (National Center for
Educational Statistics, 2015). In 2013 the National Center for Educational Statistics has reported that
51% of the students in public schools were from low income families. In contrast, 1989 the percentage
of students from low income families was 32%. (NCES, 2015) The percentage of students with
disabilities in public schools has been around 13% for the last 10 years. (NCES, 2015) As a
superintendent I need to lead the district s staff and students to recognizing the diverse populations of
people interact with and teach on a daily basis. Another appropriate response to our increasing
diversity in public schools is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2009 16.9% of teachers were a minority (NCES, 2015). This is obviously a significant gap between
student diversity and teacher diversity. This gap is not due to failing to recruit minority teachers
(Ingersoll May, 2011). As a superintendent I would create a strategic recruitment and retention plan.
Elements of the recruitment and retention plan will be partnerships with colleges and universities,
advertising, competitive salaries, career ladders for para professionals, alternative teacher certification
programs, creating district awareness and acceptance of diversity. Research shows that more than
salary, conditions that are most strongly related to minority teacher retention were collective faculty
decision making influence by staff and individual teacher classroom autonomy (Ingersoll May, 2011).
It is clear that high quality leadership is essential to recruit and retain high quality candidates

Sedgwick And Walden Materialism Analysis
The books Walden and other Writings by Henry David Thoreau and Hope Leslie or, Early Times in the
Massachusetts by Catharine Maria Sedgwick both have many overlapping themes. This paper is going
to focus on their shared opinions about materialism. Both Sedgwick and Thoreau condemn living for
materials, insisting that there are better, more worthy things in life. These are the higher things since
both authors agree that there are things morally higher than materials. Catharine Maria Sedgwick
views materialism as a sin. Every time material items are brought up it is a manipulative or not so
good situation; ie: a character is in trouble. Clearly this shows that Sedgwick doesn t believe in living
for material items or the way they are perceived in society. She shows that items can t buy one love,
happiness, or change who one is. In Hope Leslie Sedgwick says, Tell her, Magawisca, if she will come
home with me, she shall be decked in jewels from head to foot; she shall have feathers from the most
beautiful birds that wing the air, and flowers that never fade: tell her that all I possess shall be hers.
(240; Par. 2) Hope is enticing Mary with objects of English society. It could be said that Hope was
trying to buy her love back with these jewels. Mary is entranced by these materials because she has
grown up in a different world. Even though the Puritans are against the coveting of materials, because
of England s influence, there is still evidence of materialism in their society as Sedgwick shows. Hope
is hoping that Mary s greed will bring her back, one can see this from the way she promises all her
possessions to her. Sedgwick illustrates materialism in this quote, Inborn royalty of the soul , that even
the ugly envelop of a blanket did not conceal. (190; Par. 2) This shows how Sedgwick s view of
materialism agrees with Thoreau s. Even in perceived ugly clothing, her true personality shines
through. This is an example of what Thoreau says about clothing not being able to change who one is.
Material items control one s perception in society, but they can not change they way one is on their
own. Whether he or she is a shoe peddler or a high class politician, he or she will get judged for their

The Foss Walk
This pleasant walk, starting from the hilltop village of Crayke, follows part of the Foss Walk to
Oulston. Due to the agricultural nature of the valley, ploughed fields and crops are likely; therefore
parts of the walk may be muddy.
The village stands on the steep, southern slopes of Castle Hill and its name derives from the Celtic
word creig meaning crag or rock. There has been a settlement here since at least AD 685, when
Ecgfrith, King of Northumbria gave Crayke, together with all the land within a three mile radius, to St
Cuthbert, Bishop of Lindisfarne. Shortly afterwards, St Cuthbert established a monastery, adjacent to
the site of the present castle, which survived until Danish marauders destroyed it towards the end of
the ninth century. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spacious, well kept green has a circle of stones marking the site of the old draw well and the
building which enclosed it until the 1940s. Several houses in the village have a black and white crest
set into their front walls. The crest bears the monogram GOW below the figure of a unicorn,
representing Sir George Orby Wombwell of Newburgh Priory, who fought in the Crimean War against
Imperial Russia. On October 25th, 1854, Sir George took part in the suicidal charge, down a valley of
death against a battery of Russian artillery, which became known as the Charge of the Light Brigade.
Despite having his horse shot from under him, Sir George survived; he managed to capture a riderless
horse and eventually returned to the British

Economic Systems And Economic System
An economic system governs how a society s resources are allocated between people, and so the
question of its morality is immensely important (Winfield, et al, 2014). This essay will analyse the
different economic systems by considering the two economic systems that fall on the extreme ends of
the spectrum of economic systems, these being capitalism and socialism. It will further discuss the
characteristics of each of these economic systems and based on these, argue that the mixed economy is
the best alternative economic system. The forms of regulations that create efficiencies and those that
create inefficiencies will be argued for and the importance and benefits of these regulations will be
analysed. .
A capitalist economic system is one that is predominantly characterised by free markets, private
ownership and limited government intervention. Free markets are commonly known for their ability to
achieve economic efficiency primarily through the volunteer nature of exchange and the existence of
competition amongst producers (Winfield, et al, 2014). Adam Smith believed that the goal of every
economic system should be to achieve economic efficiency through the mechanisms of productive and
allocative efficiency. Productive efficiency can be defined as producing goods and services for the
lowest cost while allocative efficiency is more concerned with the distribution and allocation of
resources in the economy to where they are valued most and can attain maximum satisfaction for

Compare And Contrast Qin And Han Dynasty
After the Warring States Period, there were two major dynasties; the Qin and the Han. The Qin
dynasty ruled first and created many policies that were adopted and abandoned by the second rulers,
the Han dynasty.
One policy that was implemented from the Qin, by the Han was standardization. Shi Huangdi, the
ruler during the Qin dynasty, implemented the idea of standardization and executed his plans for
standardization in an orderly fashion. Huangdi standardized the following throughout China; the
Chinese language, the weights and measurements used, the currency of China, and the axes on
transportation or motor vehicles. The Han dynasty adopted this policy because the standards were the
same throughout the Chinese nation and the people were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IN the Qin dynasty, Shi Huangdi created a centralized government since the rulers before, the Zhou
dynasty, had been rebelled against because their government structure was a mess. For example, the
Zhou did not have a good connection with their outer cities and the Zhou government leaders did not
know what was going on in their society. Shi Huangdi created provinces, which was divided into
counties, and there were heads of the provinces who reported to the emperor about what was going on
within their province. In the counties there was a head too. The head of the county reported to the head
of the province. The Han adopted this because it created a strong government and worked for the Qin
dynasty. Both the Qin and Han did not want to be overthrown like the Zhou dynasty was. A last policy
that was adopted by the Han was that of, expanding the territory. Shi Huangdi performed the act of
expanding territory and pushed his borders out to the Yellow/Huang River. Shi Huangdi grew his
territory because he had a growing population with overcrowded cities. The Han dynasty decided to
adopted this policy because the Qin s land was spacious and this way they were able grow more fruits,
veggies, and make more silk for

Never Elsewhere Neil Gaiman Analysis
The world is a very interesting place. The earth has temperatures from 136 to 126 degrees Fahrenheit,
depths of over 35,000 feet, and heights of over 29,000 feet. These climates and elevations ultimately
shape the human world. Habitats everywhere from humid rainforest to the scorching desert each
support an ecosystem of their own. The setting of anything, whether a fantasy story or an academic
documentary, is very important. Nothing lives in a vacuum. The setting of the novel Neverwhere by
Neil Gaiman is a very interesting place which plays a pivotal role in the book s development of
character, plot, and theme.
The story takes place in London, with a young man named Richard Mayhew. Richard is an individual
with a good heart, beautiful fiancé, and an overall normal life. He and his fiancé, named Jessica, were
rushing towards a very important dinner with Mr. Stockton, a corporate entity and Jessica s boss, but
Richard stumbles by a little girl bleeding on a London sidewalk. The girl bloodied girl spits out
desperately that she cannot be taken to any hospital. Richard feeling drawn to the stranger picks up the
doll like body, feeling the blood soaking into his shirt, to care for her at his apartment. The situation is
tense, because Jessica s dinner is very important as well. This situation escalates to the ... Show more

  • 2. Personal Narrative-The Hunters The Hunters To survive was the greatest challenge that I d ever faced in my life. Hello, I m Harry, and I was subjected to something that I d never forget, mainly due to my PTSD... So, yeah. Anyway, we ll get into that later; let s start at the beginning. The messages started on a day like any other; I didn t think much of the first message when it came. That day, after I came home from school, after a tiring day of math and science, I decided to go up to my room to chill out. As I walked up the stairs, a feeling of uncertainty came over me. It just felt... odd. Once I started to near my room, the feeling intensified. A gymnast started doing flips in my stomach as I neared the door, and finally, when I opened the door, this feeling was finally justified. When I walked in, my room was a disaster; clothes, bedsheets, and books were strewn everywhere. The paint on my walls was torn up, exposing the drywall underneath and my closet door was ripped off of its hinges. I could barely breathe as there was a thick cloud of dust that filled the room. For a moment I stood there wondering what the heck just happened, but the worst was yet to come. When the dust finally cleared, I saw a message scrawled onto my wall in a primitive script. WE RE COMING, the message read. After seeing this, I bolted from the room and got my mother up into my room, where she oddly didn t notice anything wrong. Thus, I wondered why, and lo and behold, the room was exactly the way that it had been before the message showed up. I was shocked. The message baffled me, but I thought that ... • 3. Neoteny Essay should cycle for a few weeks prior to introducing axolotls into their new home so filter bacteria develop (Look, 2007). Biology Neoteny Axolotls have a neotenic nature which means they do not undergo metamorphosis and stay in the larval state their entire lives (Jolles, 2013). The adaptation of neoteny is often referred to as a backward step in evolution since it prevents axolotls from living on land like other salamanders (Clare, 1999). All salamanders are born in water, but only some stay while others congregate to land once they are adults. Those that stay in the water for their entire lives are considered aquatic salamanders, while the ones that move to land at some point are either semi aquatic or terrestrial (Masters, 2016). Axolotls are considered aquatic salamanders since they will remain in water due to their neoteny. They will grow to an average adult size for a salamander, but their limbs will remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Axolotls often lose limbs because they mistake them for food or play too roughly with other salamanders, but they can easily regrow the lost parts within a short span of a couple weeks. The regeneration occurs from the formation of a bud at the end of the damaged limb, which is where the lost portion will grow back (Clare, 1999). Axolotls can regrow skin, feet, entire limbs, jaws, and portions of their brain and spine. They can also receive transplanted organs from other Mexican salamanders, and their bodies will easily accept the transplants without rejection (Lewis, 2013). This strange ability relies entirely on the axolotls immune systems; immune cells called macrophages are fully responsible for the regeneration process of missing body parts. Macrophages are also present in mammals, where they help heal a sudden injury or wound. That mechanism is the same in axolotls, but rather than just healing a wound, it fully regenerates the lost limb (Lewis, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Cross Cultural Conflict In The Tiger s Daughter Introduction The Tiger s Daughter by Bharati Mukherjee is a realistic novel of the dual culture based identity of the author who faces the mental duality due to the changes in the culture in the long left India. She found difficult to adapt to the culture, customs, and traditions, which she depicts through her female protagonists cultural crisis. The proposed study is an attempt to throw light on to the cross cultural conflict of the 22 year old Tara when she revisits India after a seven year stay in the United States. It highlights the cultural turmoil faced by Tara when she refuses to accept Calcutta as her home again. • 6. Comparing the Iconography and Mythology of Two Major Hindu... Comparing the Iconography and Mythology of Two Major Hindu Deities In Hindu tradition, Brahma created the universe, Vishnu maintained it and Shiva destroyed it. These three gods comprise the Hindu trinity (the trimurti) and are considered to be the leading gods of the religion, especially Brahma, who is the oldest of all the gods. This point is questionable though as the Visnu Purana talks of Brahma emerging from Vishnu s navel to maintain the world after Vishnu has created it and then he returns to the navel after Shiva has destroyed it. If this is the case then Vishnu s position as a god is elevated from merely the maintainer to the creator. This essay intends to compare and contrast the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is when he awakens out of this sleep that Brahma appears from Vishnu s navel enfolded in a lotus as mentioned above. Vishnu is also seen riding, sometimes with his wife Laksmi, but mainly he is represented as one of his incarnations or avataras. Unlike Shiva, Vishnu is particularly associated with his avataras and by the end of the Puranic period he was especially connected with ten of these manifestations. These were Vamana (the ignorant dwarf), Kurma (the tortoise), Matsya (the fish), Narasimha (the man lion), Varaha (the boar), Parasurama (Rama with the axe), Kalki (the white horse), Rama, Buddha and of course the most popular of all his incarnations, Krishna. Vishnu incarnates into the world from time to time to preserve or to reinstate righteousness (Herman, 1991:107). Krishna being his principle avatara, is often seen slaying demons and so is considered a hero. He also teaches the discipline of karma yoga, meaning the way of selfless action (Herman, 1991:179), to Arjuna the warrior hero and the dialogue is written down in the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna is in disguise and offers Arjuna guidance, advising that one should acct selflessly without thinking of the rewards and should be satisfied in offering action in the name of the lord. The Business Environment Of Nigeria And Norway Essay Question 1The concept of Business EnvironmentBusiness environment can be understood as the combination of all environmental conditions and influences that are capable of affecting or influencing business activities. According to Anyanwu et al (1996) defines the environment of business as the aggregation of the pattern of all the external and internal conditions and influences that affect the existence, growth and development of the business. Opportunities and threats may be associated with external environment while the strengths and weakness may be associated with internal environment of the business (Audu, 2010a).In this paper, we will compare the business environment of two countries namely: Nigeria and Norway. The reason for choosing these two countries include the fact that both are part of the top ten net oil exporting nations for which hydrocarbon exports account for more than 40% of total exports. Individualism In The House On Mango Street Let your home be your mast and not your anchor, said Kahlil Gibran, exposing the unneeded focus on materialism to keep people in a harsh cycle of poverty. Expressing an idea that materialistic should not force stigma and should show individualism, Gibran provides insight into the bullying through goods. In this way, he relates to Cisneros s ideas through the usage of a house as a metaphor for good created feelings of shame. This image of individualism is expanded through the stress on own . In a similar fashion, while thinking about foreign neighborhoods, Esperanza thinks, All brown all around, we are safe. But watch us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity shake and our car windows get rolled up tight and our eyes look straight . Esperanza shows that she feels safe when there is all brown all around , further emphasizing her point of being an individual. The usage of the home in this case represents a flaw of Esperanza and how it is bad to be in a different home than her. Later, Cisneros utilizes Esperanza s fantasy of her aspiration to own her house, One day I ll own my own house, but I won t forget who I am or where I came from. Passing bums will ask, Can I come in? • 10. Energy Is The Biological Conversion Of Plant Energy And... Carbon is always cycling around the earth, whether it s plants or animals, both require carbon. Plants get it from taking carbon dioxide from the oxygen that is in the air. Plants then use this and the sunlight s energy to make food for themselves. Animals get energy by eating the plants or eating other animals that have eaten those plants. During cell respiration, oxygen and food both provide energy. Respiration makes then carbon dioxide, which is then put out into the atmosphere. But if there is too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there needs to be a solution to reduce it so no harm is caused to the Earth. Photosynthesis is the biological conversion of light energy into chemical energy. It occurs in green plants and photosynthetic bacteria through a series of many biochemical reactions (Ensminger,2014). The equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O+light energy → C6H1206+6O2. Cellular Respiration is the process by which organisms combine oxygen with food stuff molecules, diverting the chemical energy in these substances into life sustaining processes and discarding, as waste products, carbon dioxide and water (Cell Respiration,2017). The equation for cellular respiration is C6H1206+6O2 → 6H2O+ 36 ATP. Photosynthesis are green plant who create their own food and it takes place in the chloroplast of the plant cells. But then you see the identical ones, the ones with technology infused artificial joints, or the ones whom poses a slight fluorescent skin. And by the time you notice it, they are everywhere and you are the only true human left. As time reaches further, we find ourselves living in the new age of technology, political rivalries, and weapons of mass destruction that are no longer radical cartoonists ideas from the television series Roadrunner. This upward rollercoaster of evolution and development within our society leaves one to ponder over one crucial thing: how will it all come crashing down? There are many elements around us that could lead to our own horrifying conclusion and it becomes a simple coin toss to decide our fate. But as many scientistic developments and fictional novels have foretold, the desperate search for the advancement of the human race itself can come as glimpse into the mystic future or possibly the end of us completely. Genetic mutations, at first a simple random mole found of the exterior of the body and the shade of blue of one s eye seem to be innocent developments in human appearance, but has soon evolved into a evolution shortcut. The increasing development and advancement in genetic research and deliberate mutation originates from the eternal and illusionistic desire for human perfection. • 13. Twentieth Century America Faderman takes a decidedly social constructionist analysis as she examines lesbian life in Twentieth Century America, arguing from the start that its definition has less to do with innate same sex attraction than with external sociopolitical influences. It is apparent that in the debate between the essentialist lesbians and existentially lesbians she offers no apologies (and plenty of reasons) in siding with the latter. Not only does she explore how the sub culture continually responds to external pressures such as conservative politics and institutional biases but deeply analyzes how then the community expands and contracts to its marginalization and oppression. For instance, she describes numerous times (such as the butch/femme role enactment and the demand for a regulated sexual intercourse between women in the 1970 s) when the lesbian community and corresponding social movement enacts various border patrolling and internal policing to maintain its strict identity as women to keep the pressure and agents of the patriarchy outside. I disagree with kneeling because it is very disrespectful to people who have served in the military or any other person who has served to protect our country or keep our streets safe and fight for our freedom. Also, when anybody kneels during any countries national anthem, it can make that person look bad and very disrespectful. When a person kneels during an anthem, it make not only the person look bad, but it can lead to other people to follow their example. This is what happened last year, when Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for San Francisco, started kneeling during the anthem. This led to other players all over the league sitting on the bench or, in recent weeks, not coming out from the locker room all during the anthem. This is protected by the first amendment rights, but it is not the smartest or most favorable way of expressing yourself or making a statement. Colin Kaepernick stated that he wouldn t stand for a country that was racist against people of color and different ethnicity . However, I changed it in the final video making him the plaintiff, a company lawyer saying the defendant ( Punisher ) stole their content and he is not protected by Fair Dealing . I changed it to this as I believed it would make the video more narratively engaging, making the Punishers outburst more provoked and meaningful. I also removed the self referential element where the Punisher was going to comment on how the video was flipped and colour graded so it would not come up on YouTube copyright detection system. I changed this element as I believed it would make my RWMC more focused and comedic in a serious way. The elements I changed after I presented my RWMC piece were both things the markers and classmates commented on. They said some of the subtitles in the first half went by too fast, so they struggled to read everything being said before the subtitle changed. The Political Art Of Art Professor Sarah Tamez Art 1301.09 November 23, 2015 Political Art Art can be expressed in many forms but one of the best has got to be political art, as it expresses art in a relevant form for many to understand, it doesn t require knowledge in history. It puts out a statement in a bold way so that people may better understand what is trying to be expressed. Many artists use art in topics like reproductive rights, equality, gun control, human rights, the environment and war to express desire for change. One of the most outspoken political artists is Barbara Kruger, who has had her work installed in many well known museums. Kruger has become even more known because of her relevance using art to criticize well known public figures like Kim Kardashian and George W. While not defined by ASC 740, practice has generally been to consider the most recent three years when assessing cumulative losses. Positive evidence of sufficient quantity and quality would be needed to overcome this significant negative evidence and conclude that a valuation allowance is not warranted. As with all elements of available evidence, a cumulative loss is simply one data point it is not a bright line test that is in and of itself determinative of the need for a valuation allowance. To illustrate, assume that a company is in a three year cumulative income position of $10 million, but the results of the past three years have flipped from income to losses (2006: income of $100 million; 2007: loss of $30 million; 2008: loss of $60 million). Does the fact that the company is still in a three year cumulative income position at the end of 2008 automatically suggest that a valuation allowance is not warranted? One of the most important mechanism in evolution is natural selection which is the differential success in the reproduction of different phenotypes resulting from the interaction of organisms with their environment. Natural selection occurs when a environment makes a individual adapt to that certain environment by variations that arise by mutation and genetic recombination. Also it favors certain traits in a individual than other traits so that these favored traits will be presented in the next generation. Another mechanism of evolution is genetic drift. Genetic drift is a random change in a small gene pool due to sampling errors in propagation of alleles or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some bacteria had genes that coded for enzymes that specifically destroyed certain antibiotics such as ampicillin. From this incident, scientists were able to deduce that natural selection helped the bacteria to inherit the genes for antibiotic resistance. Scientists have also been able to use biochemistry as a source of evidence. The comparison of genes of two species is the most direct measure of common inheritance from shared ancestors. Using DNA DNA hybridization, whole genomes can be compared by measuring the extent of hydrogen bonding between single stranded DNA obtained from two sources. The similarity of the two genes can be seen by how tightly the DNA of one specie bonds to the DNA of the other specie. Many taxonomic debates have been answered using this method such as whether flamingos are more closely related to storks or geese. This method compared the DNA of the flamingo to be more closely related to the DNA of the stork than the geese. The only disadvantage of this method is that it does not give precise information about the matchup in specific nucleotide sequences of the DNA which restriction mapping does. This technique uses restriction enzymes that recognizes a specific sequence of a few nucleotides and cleaves DNA wherever such sequences are found in the genome. Then the DNA fragments are separated by electrophoresis and compared to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of these questions can be answered with one simple word, teachers. Like any other occupation, the employer is looking to find the best candidate suitable for a certain position. Schools are looking to find the best teachers to employ in hopes of increasing student achievement, resulting in a good overall reputation of the school. Ronald Reagan s Economic Policies Although he was a generally controversial president, Ronald Reagan s policy decisions to stimulate economic prosperity, known as Reaganomics, were legitimately beneficial to the United States of America. First, in order to substantiate the success of Reagan s economic policy decisions one must first grasp the varying levels of importance for each aspect of his plan. As Reagan s policies were substantial decisions that defined his presidency and alienated an entire population of more economically liberal people, it makes sense that an understanding of his emphasis on certain decisions would lead to a more persuasive argument. Next, the negation of well formed and logical criticisms of Reagan s economic policies also lend to the support of their benefits and success. Acknowledging a sensible counterargument and addressing specific points of critical analysis serves to further enhance the argument for the success of Reagan s decisions. Furthermore, strong economic growth and the curbing of federal domestic power reinforce the accomplishments of Reaganomics. Though the U.S. did see economic growth, Reaganomics was not purely an economic plan, as cuts in government power, not including the military, benefitted the average American citizen. • 42. Student Diversity In Public Schools Schools and classrooms of today contain an increasingly diverse population of students. As of 2012 percentage of white students in public schools has decreased from 59% to 51%. It is projected that by 2024 the percentage of white students will continue to decrease to 46% (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2015). In 2013 the National Center for Educational Statistics has reported that 51% of the students in public schools were from low income families. In contrast, 1989 the percentage of students from low income families was 32%. (NCES, 2015) The percentage of students with disabilities in public schools has been around 13% for the last 10 years. (NCES, 2015) As a superintendent I need to lead the district s staff and students to recognizing the diverse populations of people interact with and teach on a daily basis. Another appropriate response to our increasing diversity in public schools is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2009 16.9% of teachers were a minority (NCES, 2015). This is obviously a significant gap between student diversity and teacher diversity. This gap is not due to failing to recruit minority teachers (Ingersoll May, 2011). As a superintendent I would create a strategic recruitment and retention plan. Elements of the recruitment and retention plan will be partnerships with colleges and universities, advertising, competitive salaries, career ladders for para professionals, alternative teacher certification programs, creating district awareness and acceptance of diversity. Research shows that more than salary, conditions that are most strongly related to minority teacher retention were collective faculty decision making influence by staff and individual teacher classroom autonomy (Ingersoll May, 2011). It is clear that high quality leadership is essential to recruit and retain high quality candidates including diverse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Sedgwick And Walden Materialism Analysis The books Walden and other Writings by Henry David Thoreau and Hope Leslie or, Early Times in the Massachusetts by Catharine Maria Sedgwick both have many overlapping themes. This paper is going to focus on their shared opinions about materialism. Both Sedgwick and Thoreau condemn living for materials, insisting that there are better, more worthy things in life. These are the higher things since both authors agree that there are things morally higher than materials. Catharine Maria Sedgwick views materialism as a sin. Every time material items are brought up it is a manipulative or not so good situation; ie: a character is in trouble. Clearly this shows that Sedgwick doesn t believe in living for material items or the way they are perceived in society. She shows that items can t buy one love, happiness, or change who one is. In Hope Leslie Sedgwick says, Tell her, Magawisca, if she will come home with me, she shall be decked in jewels from head to foot; she shall have feathers from the most beautiful birds that wing the air, and flowers that never fade: tell her that all I possess shall be hers. (240; Par. 2) Hope is enticing Mary with objects of English society. It could be said that Hope was trying to buy her love back with these jewels. Mary is entranced by these materials because she has grown up in a different world. Even though the Puritans are against the coveting of materials, because of England s influence, there is still evidence of materialism in their society as Sedgwick shows. Hope is hoping that Mary s greed will bring her back, one can see this from the way she promises all her possessions to her. Sedgwick illustrates materialism in this quote, Inborn royalty of the soul , that even the ugly envelop of a blanket did not conceal. (190; Par. 2) This shows how Sedgwick s view of materialism agrees with Thoreau s. Even in perceived ugly clothing, her true personality shines through. This is an example of what Thoreau says about clothing not being able to change who one is. Material items control one s perception in society, but they can not change they way one is on their own. Whether he or she is a shoe peddler or a high class politician, he or she will get judged for their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Foss Walk This pleasant walk, starting from the hilltop village of Crayke, follows part of the Foss Walk to Oulston. Due to the agricultural nature of the valley, ploughed fields and crops are likely; therefore parts of the walk may be muddy. The village stands on the steep, southern slopes of Castle Hill and its name derives from the Celtic word creig meaning crag or rock. There has been a settlement here since at least AD 685, when Ecgfrith, King of Northumbria gave Crayke, together with all the land within a three mile radius, to St Cuthbert, Bishop of Lindisfarne. Shortly afterwards, St Cuthbert established a monastery, adjacent to the site of the present castle, which survived until Danish marauders destroyed it towards the end of the ninth century. ... • 45. Economic Systems And Economic System An economic system governs how a society s resources are allocated between people, and so the question of its morality is immensely important (Winfield, et al, 2014). This essay will analyse the different economic systems by considering the two economic systems that fall on the extreme ends of the spectrum of economic systems, these being capitalism and socialism. It will further discuss the characteristics of each of these economic systems and based on these, argue that the mixed economy is the best alternative economic system. The forms of regulations that create efficiencies and those that create inefficiencies will be argued for and the importance and benefits of these regulations will be analysed. . A capitalist economic system is one that is predominantly characterised by free markets, private ownership and limited government intervention. Free markets are commonly known for their ability to achieve economic efficiency primarily through the volunteer nature of exchange and the existence of competition amongst producers (Winfield, et al, 2014). Adam Smith believed that the goal of every economic system should be to achieve economic efficiency through the mechanisms of productive and allocative efficiency. Productive efficiency can be defined as producing goods and services for the lowest cost while allocative efficiency is more concerned with the distribution and allocation of resources in the economy to where they are valued most and can attain maximum satisfaction for ... The Qin dynasty ruled first and created many policies that were adopted and abandoned by the second rulers, the Han dynasty. IN the Qin dynasty, Shi Huangdi created a centralized government since the rulers before, the Zhou dynasty, had been rebelled against because their government structure was a mess. For example, the Zhou did not have a good connection with their outer cities and the Zhou government leaders did not know what was going on in their society. Shi Huangdi created provinces, which was divided into counties, and there were heads of the provinces who reported to the emperor about what was going on within their province. In the counties there was a head too. The head of the county reported to the head of the province. The Han adopted this because it created a strong government and worked for the Qin dynasty. Both the Qin and Han did not want to be overthrown like the Zhou dynasty was. A last policy that was adopted by the Han was that of, expanding the territory. Shi Huangdi performed the act of expanding territory and pushed his borders out to the Yellow/Huang River. Shi Huangdi grew his territory because he had a growing population with overcrowded cities. The Han dynasty decided to adopted this policy because the Qin s land was spacious and this way they were able grow more fruits, veggies, and make more silk for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
