Federation In Australian History
Federation is one of the most important parts of Australian history. It is the time when we came
with the term Australian, when we became a nation, got the right to vote, speak more freely, live
more freely. Federation has made how we are today. It has changed history forever. Federation is
the joining of states or colonies to become one nation. For 20 years the issue of Federation

After Australian went through tough times a conference with pro federation groups happened in

Australia agrees by voting.
Most people in Australia were involved in the making of Federation. Most people being are the
voters, egalitarians*, then also the members of parliament. In 1890 The draft of Australian
Constitution was drawn by four members from each colony, they were: Edmund Barton (New
South Wales), Andrew Inglis Clark (Tasmania), Samuel Griffith (Queensland) and Charles Kingston

Who Is Brutus The Noblest
In the play Julius Caesar , Antony refers to Brutus by saying, This was the Noblest Roman of
them all. As a matter of fact I do think Brutus is the noblest roman. Brutus killed Caesar not out
of hate but for the sake of his country. In spite of the fact that Brutus was the noblest, he had
many strengths and weaknesses too. Brutus strength was that he was very noble and honorable
and a great leader. On the other hand Brutus was very gullible and ha poor judgment. Brutus had
an amazing love for his country. He was willing to put himself at risk for his own country. He
always wanted to protect Rome. Being loyal and such an honorable man was probably his biggest
strengths. He single handedly took over the group of conspirators

Actually I haven t gone to The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria; I choose to go to Vancouver Art
Gallery to take look Takashi Murakami, Emily Carr and Lui Shou Kwan s art work. After finish
looking at them, I found out a different culture will make their art work totally different. Takashi
Murakami is a very influential Japanese artist born after the 1960s. It is not only an artist
widely loved in Japan, but also an idol of a new generation of young people in Japan. He
challenges the traditional concept of art. The theme is often Japanese traditional comic books,
video games, erotic culture based, colorful and unique style, the cute, sexual fantasy, violence

vision combined with deep darkness implies the values, social outlooks and phenomena that he

conservative Japanese society, but his art work did prominent his different between other artists.
Every his art work has meaning to our society. As I look at the part of art work Arhat cycle ,
Takashi Murakami used a rich color to paint each Arhat. Unlike traditional art work of Arhat, in
Takashi s art work, he did challenge a lot of idea of Lohan. Originally Arhats are physically and

Analysis Of Three Models Theories Of Classroom Management
An analysis of three models/theories of classroom management Introduction This essay discusses
views on three theories of classroom management such as Goal centered theory; cognitive
behaviour theory and choice theory. Each theory will be demonstrated by the key person
associated with the theory and the key principal of each theory. As a result, strengths and
weaknesses will be given and conclude with a summary of the similarities and difference between
each of the above theories. Goal Centered Theory Rudolf Dreikurs philosophy logic depends on the
theory of majority rules system, with its hinted standard of human correspondence, and on the socio

Therefore, GCT is used to teacher s benefit, also helping students to gain confidence and a sense
of belonging which in turn will relate back to behaviour. Weakness for GCT is when some
individuals are not motivated to seek out group belonging. While other s may deny, hide and
misunderstand their motives to misbehave. For example, younger students may have trouble in
recognising their motives and older students may not want to do it at all (Lyons, et. al., 2006).
GCT may be very difficult to use if there are a very challenging student and lack of acceptance
from other school community members as there is no sound base of evidence to show its
effectiveness (Lyons, et, al., 2006). Cognitive behaviour theory Two of the earliest forms of
Cognitive behavioural therapy were Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), developed by
Albert Ellis in the 1950s, and Cognitive Therapy, developed by Aaron T. Beck in the 1960s
(McLeod, 2015). Joseph Kaplan and Jane Carter cognitive behaviour theory (CBT) is a type of
psychotherapy that helps the person to change unhelpful and unhealthy habits of thinking, feeling
and behaving. It involves using positive and immediate changes to a person life by using practical

Athens Under Solon Essay
When the city of Athens stood on the brink of revolution, the citizens of Athens looked upon
Solon and gave him the task of creating new laws for them because of troubles that had been
plaguing them for a long time. They saw that he more than anyone else in city, stood apart from
the injustices of the time and was involved neither in the extortions of the rich nor the privations of
the poor (Plutarch 55, Par 1). In this paper I will be writing of changes that took effect under Solon
and whether those changes resolved the conflicts that brought Athenson the brink of revolution.
First, I will be writing about the conflict over land ownership and slavery between aristocrats and
common people, who appointed Solon as reconciler and archon... Show more content on

They wanted Solon to redistribute the land which he did not do, but instead he made Olive oil
the only product of Athens allowed to be exported. So if there was anything extra leftover from
the farms of aristocrats, they had no choice but to give to starving poor and Hill peasants. If
anyone were to export anything but oil be punished by archon or should pay fine to the public
treasury (Plutarch 66, Par 3). After making Attica a great and secure place to live, he realized
that the city was filling up with people in a steady stream from everywhere in Greek; at the same
time he realized that most of the country was still poor and unproductive, and people elsewhere
are not in the habit of sending their goods to those who have nothing to offer in exchange. He
therefore encouraged the sharecroppers to turn to the arts and crafts of manufacture and made a
law that no son was obliged to support his father unless the father first taught the son a trade of
some kind (Plutarch 64, Par 2).
At first, the changes Solon made did not please either party. The rich were angry because of
being deprived of their securities and losing out on their property and the poor even more so,
because Solon did not carry out a redistribution of the land as they had expected him to do
(Plutarch 58, Par 2). However, it was not long before they realized that what Solon had done was
great and saw the advantages of his policy. Athenians were so happy that they went on to appoint

Essay On The Idaho State Standards And The True Story Of...
I have known for some time that my weakest area on Charlette Danielson s Framework for
Teaching is asking questions that require higher order thinking. As a first grade teacher there is
so much information that I am presenting to them that we move at a very fast pace. I am
constantly checking for understanding, but my questions focus on knowledge and
comprehension. I rarely take time for lengthy discussions that allow the children to express their
opinions and interpretation of the information presented. The Idaho State Standards and the
Danielson framework make it clear that this is an area I need to focus on and that I must make
time for it in my very hectic schedule. I developed a plan of action to assist me in this process and
set a goal to have 80% of my students score a 70% or higher on their written reading responses and
a 3 or higher on their oral reading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We talked about whose point of view the stories were told from, we struggled with this and it
required a lot of modeling and scaffolding, and we also constructed new endings for the stories.
Then we moved on to two new stories, The Three Little Pigs and The True Story of the Three
Little Pigs by A. Wolf . Each time the oral and written responses improved but they still required a
great deal of teacher mediation. The second assessment revealed that only 24% of my student had
met the oral target and 31% had met the written. My kids were making great progress, but we had
started out much lower than I had anticipated.
Day seven brought the great debate. Unfortunatley there was not much of a debate. They all
believed the wolf because the title stated that it was the true story. They did however support their
opinions with evidence. They did a wonderful job creating their posters representing the moral of
the story, my favorite was work hard or be eaten , but we struggled desperately to create interview
questions for the story

Nonviolent Direct Action Is An Option
Violence is an option that is heavily debated when taking action. It can often result in complete
chaos and not accomplish the original purpose of the action. Nonviolent direct action is another
option that is contemplated. It involves the use of direct action without violent force to get the
point of the action known. Examples of nonviolent direct action would include strikes and protests.
The use of such action is often best implemented in human experience that involve discrimination.
Differences in race, gender, or religious affiliation can often cause discrimination. Individuals in
minority groups are seen as unequal to the majority and can be easily be discriminated against. To
promote change, minority groups often take actions. The action can either involve violence or
exclude it. Violent force can degrade the appearance of the individuals and create more anger
between the two opposing sides. The use of non violent direct action shows more humility of those
who are being discriminated against. Others being to understand the issue without creating chaos.
Non violent direct action can also be used for political purposes. Protestors can often be found
outside of government buildings demanding change. It also works well in this aspect because it can
be more powerful than the use of violence. The destruction and anguish are generally what is heard
about not what the purpose it when violence is used. Non violent action is superior at getting the
issues

Banking Industry
Introduction
The banking industry has always been susceptible to economic fluctuations. The subprime
mortgages crisis, that started to be felt in 2007 and is still going on, is not an exception. Although it
had consequences all over the world, the main effects were seen in American financial markets,
followed by the European ones. The top ten banks of the world also suffered the consequences;
these can be seen in the changes occurred among these leading institutions in terms of market
capitalization and also total assets. After several years of believing in free markets, capitalism and
no government intervention, the whole scene has changed. During this period, the governments,
acting together with their respective central banks, assumed ... Show more content on

Promoting the safety and soundness of individual banking organizations requires the traditional
skills of bank supervisors, such as expertise in examinations of risk management practices; the
Federal Reserve has developed such expertise in its long experience supervising banks of all sizes,
including community banks and regional banks. Further discussion on the consequences of the
crisis on banking industry will be presented on the section Analysing the data.
Presenting the data There are several ways of ranking the world leading banking institutions. It
is possible to distinguish at least three different categories: * Market capitalization: is the total
dollar market value of all of a company s outstanding shares. It is calculated by multiplying a
company s shares outstanding by the current market price of one share. It can be used to
determine a company s size. * Tier 1 capital: is one of the two categories into which a bank s
capital is divided. It is considered as the best form of bank capital because it is easy to liquidate
and therefore it is less risky that Tier 2 capital. Under the Basel I Accord, it includes retained
earnings and common stock. According to banking rules, banks must keep a certain amount of Tier
1 capital to protect them against failing. * Total assets: it is all the property owned by a
corporation. It includes current assets, fixed assets and other assets such as licenses.

Recommendations For Prevention And Mitigation
Recommendations for Prevention/Mitigation
Many ports do not have cyber response plans contained within broader risk plans (Kramek). All of
the ports studied by Kramek had a dedicated security officer and a dedicated IT staff, but the
security officers focus usually remained on traditional physical security threats, and IT was a
separate and distinct department from security (Kramek). Kramek states, cyber security threats
were not part of the security officer s response portfolio . Most security officers thought that their
IT staff would notify them in some form or fashion if a cyber incident threatened port operations
(Kramek). However, when during the response this notification to the security officers would be
made is unclear given the lack of written response plans (Kramek). Ports need their IT department
to be continually communicating with their security department. This would keep all the staff in
the loop on current difficulties and security impairments and allow staff to find a cyber incident
before it becomes too bad. Ports need to make sure that they have thorough written response plans
in the case of a cyber security incident and that all IT and security staff that will be involved are
ready to execute the plan if needed. These plans need to take into account that many industrial
control systems are dependent, like many systems at ports and marine terminals, and run off
computer networks (Sain). As stated by Bethann Rooney, manager of security for the Port

Gender Bias
SONA: Own Gender Bias in Change Detection for Gender Specific Images
The previous research was based on change blindness, such as, not able to view change when in an
environment. Changes of the environment can vary to the color, people, etc. In addition, there are
two different types of processing, such as, bottom up and top down. For instances, the bottom up
process observes the physical missing in the environment. And, the top down process observe the
beliefs, expectation etc. of the participant. Furthermore, the question for this research was that men
and women would not differ their capability to view changes in images. In addition, that men and
women would view changes sufficiently in the images if it pertain to their gender rather than the
opposite gender.
The methods used in this research were participants, materials and procedures. For instance, the
participants consist of 53 undergraduates, in detail, 31 women and 23 men. In addition, the race of
the participants were a variety of Whites, Blacks and Hispanics. Yet, the race of the participants

The White Scourge, By Neil Foley
The White Scourge: Mexicans, Blacks, and Poor Whites in Texas Cotton Culture In The White
Scourge, Neil Foley gives detailed facts about the construction and reconstruction of whiteness and
the connection of this whiteness to power, mainly on cotton culture in central Texas. Foley s book
analyzes whiteness through detailed analysis of race, class, and gender. What was most intriguing
about this book is its comparison of whiteness on various racial groups and classes, for and how
each struggled in comparison to the other in order to thrive and exist with one another. In this
book, Foley shows a racial system that continues to produce both poverty material wise and
poverty of where you stand racially. It is also very interesting that the system exploits not only
Mexicans and Blacks, but also the poor whites who competed with them for work. In The Old
South in the Southwest, a history of raceand power in the beginnings of the Republic of Texas is
provided to the reader, for example, Indians and free blacks were denied the constitutional
protections accorded to whites, while Mexicans occupied a nebulous, intermediate status between
(nonwhite) Indian and (marginally white) Spanish (Foley 19), showing that the white Americans
were having trouble categorizing Mexicans race wise. This was an important issue to resolve
because in America, being able to have ownership of land meant power and thus meaning race
determined who could and could not own property and establish

today I m here to talk about why I believe more people should learn how to do CPR, whether you

arrest in Australia. You guys might ask what cardiac arrest or CPR is, so I will give you a bit of
an insight to what they are. Cardiac arrest is a disorder where the heart suddenly stops beating,
which stops the blood flow around the body to the vital organs such as the brain. In this
circumstance, CPR if provided immediately at a scene, can be a lifesaving technique.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a means to preserve someone s life by maintaining
their airways, breathing and circulation while professional help is along the way. And cardiac
arrest can occur to anyone, anywhere, anytime. 30,000 people pass away each year in Australia
from cardiac arrest. And due to the lack of people knowing how to perform CPR properly, sadly
there aren t many lucky people who survive. Knowing CPR properly can mean the difference
between life and death for people who are suffering cardiac arrest in most situations. Just one easy
procedure that isn t taught to enough people. And considering how simple it is to learn CPR, why
shouldn t you go and learn how to do

The Art of Quoting
Chapter 3 in They Say/ I Say is all about quoting. Graff and Birkenstein, not only explain to readers

The authors insist that, in order to successfully compose an effective argument, the writer needs to
incorporate what others have previously said into their own text. By doing so, it enhances your
creditability, while at the same time makes sure your writing remains fair and accurate.

which describes potential crimes and prescribed punishments (Code, 2017). Originating in the
Mesopotamian region, the codex serves as an edict and guide for the peoples of the region to
follow in the course of common civility within the larger society. The code was grounded in
commonly accepted principles of morality and ethics and provided a clear set of norms for all
members of society to live together in peace (Code, 2017, para 3). The Code of Hammurabi laid

A Brief Note On Germ Free Water And The Ganges River
The Ganges River is 1,560 miles long, this river runs through about 48 towns. the ganges river
flows through China, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Ganges river basin is one of the most
fertile and densely populated in the world and covers an area of 400 000 sq miles (1 000 000 sq
km). Hindus respect the Gangesriver with the holiest of regards. This holy river was named after
the goddess Ganga, who is believed to be the daughter of the mountain god Himalaya. now, think
about all the people in those towns and just how many of them have to drink this holy water. the
ganges is home to the hindu who believe it is a spiritual cleansing waters, they call it the holy river.
We are proposing cleaner water. there is a way to have this cleaner water if you want it, we can

Kardashian Leadership Qualities
A leader is someone who performs actions in which other people want to model themselves
after. Leaders could be pro athletes, popular musicians but people such the Kardashians are not
what I view as a leader. The pro athletes who are leaders are the ones who are good people on and
off the field. The ones who have their own foundations or charities. I do not believe the
Kardashians deserve the name leader because they do things for themselves and not other
people, which is not a quality of a leader. The two main qualities all leaders should have in common
are their approach to inspire, their ability to lead by example. Being able to inspire people to do

Meiosis In Children Lab Report
Introduction Ever wonder how children inherit their parent s traits? Though every human being is
unique, there are often family shared traits that stand out from family to family. Family similarities
occur because children inherit genes from their parents. Genes are genetic information that
contributes to what traits children get, or don t get, from their parents. A child s genetic information
is shared through tetrads. Tetrads are homologous pairs that carry genes controlling the same
inherited trait. Tetrads are exchanged and distributed to the child during the process of meiosis.
Hypothesis Crossing over in meiosis increases genetic variation in the offspring s traits. Occurring

going through the meiosis simulation there will be different varieties and possibilities of ending
chromosomes in the four haploid daughter cells. The genetic information of the chromosomes
began to change during prophase. Here, the homologous chromosomes are coming closer to form
tetrads and are exchanging segments of adjacent non sister chromatids. The chromatids can do this
by breaking and reattaching to the other chromatids, this is called crossing over. After this each
ending chromosome varied in genetic information. The completion of the lab the results in 4
haploid cells, each with a unique set of chromosomes. Therefore, the outcome of meiosis will

Cyber Crime... this type of Crime is being more common in today s world as advancements with
technology have now come and will continue to bring changes. The society as a whole should have
worries about crimes being committed within the internet, the crimes are increasing and if nothing
is done to prevent them, and then they will not stop. More and more people each day are becoming
more accustomed to the use of technology. Such advancement are leading to more crime online.

In 2009 Greenhaven Press published the book Cyber Crime . Bruce Schneier talked about whether
a software company should be liable for the security breaches. Security breaches are starting to

making products on purpose. In certain aspects people would be favoring secure products over

Guantanamo Bay Case Study
The Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility is in southeastern Cuba, on the coast of Guantanamo Bay.
The base opened in 1903 and covers 45 square miles. The base houses detainees in the war on terror
since the September 11 attacks and ensuing military operations in Afghanistan. There are 41
detainees there as of January 2018 (Guantanamo Bay naval, 2018). Some issues to consider when
analyzing whether to keep Guantanamo Bay open are the valuable intelligence learned from
interrogating the detainees and the remote location of the facility. Several other topics to consider
are the cost of running the facility and the legitimacy of the interrogation tactics.
The first pro to examine when considering if Guantanamo Bay should remain open is the valuable
intelligence that interrogators gain from the detainees. Guantanamo houses high value detainees,
like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the architect of the September 11 attacks. Mohammed has a
mechanical engineering degree from North Carolina A T University. There is a long list of
successful and failed terrorist plots associated with Mohammad ... Show more content on

It is expensive to maintain a facility like Guantanamo on foreign soil. The cost to run Guantanamo
in 2015 was approximately $445 million. The annual cost per detainee at Guantanamo is $10
million. The annual cost of a federal maximum security prison is $34,000. The annual cost savings
of moving detainees to a domestic facility are $65 85 million (the cost, 2017). The potential money
saved from housing those detainees in the United States could go towards other domestic policies
such as the military budget, education, and jobs. The cost of keeping Guantanamo Bay on foreign
soil is an area that one could argue is a reason to close the detention facility. The money saved could
help stimulate the American economy. A second issue to consider is the interrogation tactics used

The Media s Negative Portrayal of African American Males
They squirmed, pencils tapping their desks anxiously; none of their papers contained more than
five names. Eventually, all thirteen pairs of eyes made their way from the papers, to the faces of
their friends, and eventually, they restlessly shifted over to me and stopped. This is hard, whined
one seventh grade voice. Another chimed in, It s all the same, I can t think of any more. The
question I had asked was simple: Please list as many young African American males that you see

And just as the reign of these tyrants appears be coming to an end, another barrier to equality is
appearing on the horizon: the media.
In my experience, TV in general is doing a huge disservice to any hopes of future racial parity by
its extremely unfair portrayal of the young African American male. These young men are literally
only shown on TV as sports stars, in the very best cases, and unfortunately most commonly seen as
jewel adorned rappers, spewing obscenities, making offensive gestures at the camera, hustling
around scantily clad young women as if they are simply commodities, and rapping about having sex
and smoking weed. Honestly, in the past few months I have yet to see a young African American
male portrayed as thoughtful, analytical, poetic, artistic, or even, sadly enough, remotely intelligent
or mature.
This might be acceptable if the case was such, but my experience alone proves otherwise. I know
plenty of young African American males who are mature beyond their years, and extremely
academically inclined. However, for reasons unbeknownst to me, the media industry is either stuck
on typecasting these men or deliberately choosing to represent them only as non intellectual people.
This is an outrage because inherently it does not allow young African American males to even
entertain the idea that they can and should rise above the image of themselves with which they are
barraged every day. By promoting these unjust

Reasons To Love The Iphone X
The IPhone X is the newest and possibly greatest IPhone yet, but we can t forget the previous
IPhone s. Such as the IPhone SE, my very first phone and my very favorite. There are many
reasons to love the IPhone SE, for example, its price, size, camera and battery. Even though these
are reasons to love the IPhoneSE, these examples come with benefits, then also come with cons.
My first review about the IPhone SE is about the price. It is around 400 or 500 dollars, which in
my opinion should be a little less money than what it is, such as 200 or 300 dollars, but what
would make it cost this much is the updates. The updates make it worth the price because of the
great things they do for the phone, like more apps available, more... Show more content on

First off, according to many websites and businesses the IPhone SE s battery lasts about 9.5
hours, and the IPhone 6s battery only lasts 7.45 hours. Which is great for people who take their
phones everywhere and need them. Also, even if the battery runs low, say 20%, the battery
saver that you can turn on for your phone could make it last almost twice as long as it should,
which is also a great thing to have for your phone, but if your tabs are open on your IPhone, it
makes the battery drain very fast. The amount of tabs you have open can affect the battery by
about 20%, but the solution to that is easy; just close your tabs! The final review I had in mind
is about the camera quality. On many websites I have read that the IPhone SE quality is not the
best and could use some work, but I believe otherwise. Let s start with the zoom: The camera
zoom I would say has exceptionally good quality, even though Apple decided to keep the front
facing camera on the iPhone SE practically identical to the iPhone 5s. One problem about the
camera is the sometimes blurriness that happens. Say you were on a trip and you saw some
spectacular bird fly across your view and you had only a few seconds to get the perfect picture, so
you whip out your phone and are ready to take the picture when you notice the screen is blurry. You
try so hard to get it unblurred but the camera cannot focus one the one object you want the picture

Grendel s Mother, and a Dragon. With the strength of 30 men in each hand grip, magical weapons,
and the support of Wiglaf, his right hand man, Beowulf is able to defeat all three beasts, but

She retaliates by attacking the city, just as Grendel did before he was defeated. Beowulf,
realizing this was going to be a similar beast to Grendel, was going to have to fight her alone.
This time, Beowulf is going to go on the offensive and attack Grendel s mother in her lair
underneath the lake. Grasping a breath of air, Beowulf dives into the lake and spends a day
swimming to the lair. Upon his arrival, Beowulf is immediately attacked by Grendel s mother
but his armor protects him. He is pulled further into the lair and realizes that she is much
tougher than Grendel was and that he won t be able to defeat her with his bare hands. He spots a
sword in the lair and grabs it. In one big swing, Beowulf severs her head, and she falls to the
ground. Another victory for Beowulf and the people of Heorot. Beowulf then spots Grendel s
body on the ground and in a rage, severs his head too. Beowulf then returns to Heorot and is
crowned the ruler of the city and the Danes. Shortly after the defeat of Grendel s mother, a 50

destroying everything, because someone stole his golden cup. The city of Heorot was almost

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Abrasive Jet Machining
Sapphire0.2 0.8 300
Abrasive:
The most common abrasive materials used for Abrasive jet machining are aluminum oxide, silicon
carbide. Sodium bicarbonates, glass beads of small grain size and dolomite are used for cleaning
and polishing purpose. The selection of abrasive material depends on the work material, machining
operation and required material removal rate.
The size of the material is also important. The material removal rate (MRR) depends on the grain
size. The coarse grains give high MRR, and they are recommended for cutting. The finer grains are
useful in finishing operation. However, the finer grain tends to stick together and cause a clog in
the nozzle. The grain must be sharp edged, but fine enough to remain ... Show more content on

Thin sections of brittle and hard material like ceramic, glass, and germanium can be machined.
Disadvantages of Abrasive Jet Machining: The material removal rate is low. The process tends to
environmental pollution. A dust collection system must be provided to avoid air pollution and
health hazards. This can be eliminated by using abrasive water jet machining. The abrasive
powder cannot be reused because its cutting ability decrease and it may clog on orifice of the
nozzle. Higher chance of stray cutting*. Tapering may occur during drilling. AJM not suited for
machining of soft material because the abrasive may get embedded in the work material. Nozzle
life is low (300hr), and short standoff distance causes frequent damages on the nozzle. The air used
for abrasive jet must be moister and oil free.
* Stray cutting is an over cutting of material during machining process. It results in a non uniform
cutting surface. Stray cutting is unavoidable if cutting operation not properly controlled.
Applications:
AJM is suitable for machining heat sensitive material like silicon, gallium because the heat
generation during the machining is very

begun to catch up with a rapidly changing world. The nation s achievements in technology and
culture went on display around the globe at world fairs and expositions in Europe and the United
States (Deeds, Meyer Sherman, p. 347). Diaz built the railroads that tied the nation together and
provided the vision and the reality of modern economic development (Wasserman, p. 166). In
addition to the railroads, two technological innovations spurred mining: the general use of
electricity provided light, but more important, powered pumps, trams, and other crucial equipment
(Wasserman, p. 175). Mexico was finally becoming the modern, industrialized country that people
had envisioned. The railroad and mining brought jobs to Mexico so there were employment

General Grain Theory
A variety of programs attempt to achieve the crime control goals established by general strain
theory, but none are explicitly drawn from general strain theory. Restorative justice programs are
an example of this. These restorative programs aim to impose less severe sanctions on offenders to
reduce the risk of offenders viewing their punishment as unjust. This is accomplished by making
offenders aware of the harm they caused and allow offenders to have a say in the sanction they are
subjected to. The offenders also have a voice in mediating with the community and victim of their
crime, which in turn helps teach them to cope with strains through legitimate, non criminal means
(Agnew, 2006). These strategies would be beneficial in allowing students to realize the emotional...

The main reason students resort to weapons carrying, criminal coping, according to general strain
theory is their lack of legitimate coping mechanisms. Schools should be required to teach and offer
students non criminal ways of coping with strains in their life. Teacher mediation would be one
effective strategy to help eliminate strains or effectively deal with strains. When students are
suffering from bullying rather than turning to weapons carrying as a coping mechanism, students
should be taught to inform their teachers of the strain and deal with it through mediation. Mediation
is a way for negative emotions to be expressed and potentially eliminate the negative stimuli of
bullying from a student s daily life. Drawing from restorative justice, which is influenced by
general strain as theory, this tactic for combating weapons carrying could be shown to be very
effective. If utilized to its full potential general strain theory can be combined with other
criminological theories to produce effective policy to oppose weapons carrying in

Analysis Of The Apprenticeship Of Duddy Kravitz, And Willy...
In a capitalistically inclined economy, the influences of wealth and social esteem are rooted
deep within the ideologies of such a system. Value of an entity is prescribed by these facets,
those without wealth or esteem are belittled and depreciated, while those that come to acquire
said commodities are prioritized above others in societal outlets. This is such that instills a drive
within those under the governance of a market economy, the desire for immense affluence, as
well as incontestable social influence. Duddy Kravitz in The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz
by Mordecai Richler, and Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller thoroughly
exemplify this drive for excess wealth and power. When analyzing the characters of Duddy
Kravitz and Willy Loman, it is made distinctly evident that Duddy Kravitz is successful to a
greater degree, when compared to Willy Loman, in achieving the generic and superficial
capitalistic views of success. This discrepancy between the two characters is emphasized through
Duddy Kravitz rigorous climb to social and financial influence. It can be observed, that both Willy
Loman and Duddy Kravitz share an inner drive to acquire monetary wealth. Although this drive is
instilled within them by the society they respectively live in, they experience diverging degrees of
superficial success due to their ability, or lack there of, to adapt to the ruthless and competitive
nature of a capitalistic society. It becomes evident that due to his

most lecturers think that it is not essential. Student engagement and learning by doing is important.
For implementing studio type activity and sharing, active learning is important.

6.3 Limitations of the Research
As to the limitations of this study, lecturers responses are insufficient. In this qualitative research,
the data highly relies on participants perceptions and beliefs and their honesty and truthfulness, and
so the study can be limited. Furthermore, it is a short term study and the data was collected over
one semester. Only four lecturers were interviewed. Therefore, it is not generalisable to any other
context or unit.
During data collection, neither an explanation nor an introduction of the framework from which a
teacher s action and teaching knowledge were analyzed was presented to the lecturers. A different

Lolita And The Dark Tower
My first thought was, he lied in every word,
That hoary cripple, with malicious eye
Askance to watch the working of his lie
On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford
Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored
Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby. (lines 1 6)
Nabokov s character Humbert Humbert from Lolita is perfectly described in this stanza from
Robert Browning s Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came. Nabokov compares Humbert to many
poets throughout Lolita. Humbert likens himself to a Romantic poet with the intent of rationalizing
his crime of pedophilia as an artistic endeavor. To Humbert, in particular, life really does imitate
art. Art also imitates life. Nabokov created the character of Humbert in the image of Edgar Allan Poe
. Humbert s life as a character closely resembles Poe s literary works of art, and Nabokov s art, the
character of Humbert in Lolita, bears an interesting resemblance to Poe s true life.
Edgar Allan Poe married his aunt s daughter Virginia, who at age thirteen was seven years his
junior. Poe s aunt also happened to be his landlady at the time (Lepore). In the same way, Humbert
started an explicit relationship with Charlotte s daughter, Dolores, age thirteen, after Charlotte s
death. Charlotte was Humbert s landlady. This is an example of art imitating life. Humbert fancies
himself a poet with discerning taste in nymphets, which excuses his preference for young girls
because they are subhuman devils. Humbert

Analysis Winkler A.G. s Marketing and Manufacturing Strategies
Winkler A.G. is a manufacturer of packaging materials for the grocery chain stores, electronics,
food processing industries, office products and house ware products. The company is headquartered
is in Berlin and they have manufacturing plants in Hamburg and Stuttgart, Germany.
Manufacturing operations is broken down to 50% for 4 major customers and 50% for grocery
chain and food products. Winkler has about 50% market share with an average of 25%
contribution margin. Notably, Winkler leads in the fiber container used for packaging snack food
products with a 52% market share

The next 3 year forecasted volume is also expected to be in the same region.
The adoption of JIT strategy should be based on Hess outsourcing of their manufacturing facilities
and the formulation of a long term partner relationship.
The justification for JIT implementation is that orders supplied to Hess has higher margins than the
other 3 customers.
If JIT is implemented, it will improve on Winkler s delivery lead time and give it a competitive
advantage over their competitors.
This strategy may work in favor of Hess and may not benefit Winkler as it requires changes in
manufacturing strategy in terms of production system changes.
Investment needed for the implementation of JIT program can derail their plans if Hess changes
their strategy on outsourcing their manufacturing capability.
ii.New Product Introductions (NPI)
Implementation of new packaging innovations to meet customer requirements will grow their
market share in the fiber container business. Distinctive packaging and material differentiation
enables improved pricing and margins.
Opportunity to get customers to adopt innovation involving the use of fiber containers with paper
instead of metal ends. This can be their competitive advantage to help their biggest customer
(Basler) get out of self manufacturing, instead of them transferring their volumes to another
competitor.

Mike Rugg s Research Bias
Research bias has been the cause for many research projects to have misleading or correct
information. Research bias occurs when the author researches only for articles or writing material
that corresponds to his own ideas. This causes the author to ignore potential writing materials that
may have had an important role in his research. It also causes him to expect results that match with
his mindset and not see other viewpoints. All researchers should avoid research biasby using
different methods and ideas to receive a better result. As you are doing research, it is better to be
unbiased because of the accurate results it will give you. In the Bigfoot video, Mike Rugg is a
biased researcher because of how he only searches for evidence that proves his perspective and
decision over Bigfoot. For example, in the video he explains how the tooth and other evidence...

However, it does not completely prove Bigfoot is real because the evidence is not official and
proven. Mike Rugg s research bias began to occur when he first saw bigfoot as a young child
and later when he created the Bigfoot museum at the end of his career. If Mike Rugg was not a
bigfoot supporter and did not have experience, he would be considered an unbiased researcher.
Furthermore, it would have caused him to be able to accept evidence that proved Bigfoot was
not real and have more official evidence to support his research. To avoid research bias, it is
better to not put any of your own ideas, perspectives, culture, and thoughts into your research.
The use of any of these emotions will cause your research to be biased like Mike Rugg s research
in Bigfoot. If you were to already have any type of knowledge about the subject and have a favored
opinion, as a researcher you would have to

Same Kind Of Different As Me Analysis
Denver Moore and Ron Hall, both the authors and the main characters of this novel, provided a
delightfully captivating story about how the two became one through the help of Hall s wife,
Deborah, also known as Miss Debbie. Coming from completely different lifestyles, Denver Hall
grew up a slave in Louisiana. On the opposite end of society, there s Ron Hall, the rich,
successful art dealer. Their worlds collided when Miss Debbie convinced her husband Ron to
help out at one of the missions for the homeless she was involved in. There, he met Denver, and
with the help of God, their lives were unexpectedly changed for the better. Same Kind of Different
as Me is a heartfelt tale of the two, and how their lives intertwine because of the work of a godly
womanwho prayed, listened, and obeyed. First came her husband to join her, and... Show more

When we are at our all time low, feeling alone and helpless, that is when God will take the
opportunity to remind us that He is always there. In Denver s words, When you get all the way
to the end of your rope and there ain t nothing you can do, that s when God takes over. We may
not notice God when things are going the way we want them to, but the reality is, he is always
there, even in the roughest times, if we just believe in Him and his capabilities. Another significant
quote is, I was embarrassed that I once thought myself superior to him, stooping to sprinkle my
wealth and wisdom into his lowly life. Ron s shame at looking down on Denver goes back to
another important theme of the novel: never judge a person based on what you see, for you have
never walked a mile in their shoes. Ron s first impression of Denver was drastically mistaken,
which emphasizes that people aren t always who they appear to be, and for that, one should never

Domestic Violence Is A Crisis
Every day most of us go about with our eyes closed towards the crisis of domestic violence. A
study done showed that every nine seconds a women is beaten or assaulted ( Statistics ). The time
that it has taken you to read to this point is the time it has taken for a women to be hit by this crisis.
Yet, so many think that the concern for domestic violenceis over exaggerated. Many think that there
are so many other epidemics going on that should take precedence over domestic violence. Besides
worrying about these epidemics, it also can be hard to determine who really is a victim. Therefore,
why should we spend time on this, when we could be directing more attention to the other

Therefore, why shouldn t we set our focus on the other devastating happenings occurring?
Throughout our country, this is a common feeling among many people. Why is domestic violence
a common concern when there are these other worries? Besides knowing these other epidemics,
there is another common thought that concludes with people thinking domestic violence is over
exaggerated: being able to determine who is actually abused and who isn t is a very difficult
question. There are many factors that play a part in deciding. Pamela Biron is an author of many
blogs that relate to dealings within a family, such as domestic violence, child abuse, alcohol
addiction, and more. Within one blog called False Allegations of Domestic Violence in Divorce
Cases , she explained many statistics and facts that either a man or women had lied about that had
to do with domestic violence. One study showed, Fathers organizations now estimate that up to
80% of domestic violence allegations against men are false allegations. Furthermore, 70% of
restraining orders are trivial or false (Biron). The reasons for these false allegations are simple.
Many people lie because there are an incredible amount of sources that can help a victim,
including legal support, counseling, employment services, financial assistance, services for
children, or health related services. These services are easily attainable if you can prove to be a
victim. Yet, being able

Differences Between Types of Mouth Guards
In dentistry there are three main types of mouth guards. The first one is the Stock mouth protector.
This protector is preformed and it comes ready to wear immediately. These ones can be bought at
department stores and are fairly inexpensive. When you get one of these guards it is not easy to
adjust or fit in the mouth since they are sold at stores. In some instances they do not offer or
provide much safety or protection, and with this dentist do not recommend these for their patients.
Some other names for guards include; bite plane, bite splint, gum guard, gum shield, mouth piece,
mouth protector, night guard, and occlusal splint. The second protector is the Boil and bite mouth
protector. This one is a little more fitting and helps protect the teeth. This one you can also get at a
store, but the difference between this protector and the stock mouth protector is that this mouth
piece is made out of a thermoplastic material. This means that when you get this guard you put it
into hot bowling water and then put the piece in your mouth and it makes an impression around the
teeth using your finger and tongue to put pressure on it to form to your mouth. The third protector
that is used in dentistryis the Custom Fitted mouth protector. This protector is highly recommended
by dentist due to the fact that it is fitted and formed to your mouth in a direct way. This is made
inside a dental office after the assistant and or dentist make a mold of your teeth and mouth.

Music Piracy Essay
Music Piracy: From the Pirates Perspective
I don t wear a black patch over my eye. I don t have any missing limbs, replaced by a hook or a
wooden leg that clicks when I walk. I have never owned a parrot; I don t have a cool name like
Black Beard or Calico Jack; I don t even have a big, black hat. Though I lack all the defining
characteristics, I am a pirate. My ship is a laptop computer and my booty is not measured by
dollars and cents, but by precious kilobytes. With the aide of my spy glass, the KaZaa Media
Desktop, I discern my next target. Wielding my trusty mouse, I make a few clicks, issue commands,
board ship, and hijack the music recording industry, claiming yet another copyrighted song as my
own.
My zealous desire for music ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I sacrificed blood, sweat, and hours upon hours of my life, all for my love of music. After
graduating high school, I packed my bags, and my CD cases, and headed off to college. Then
disaster struck.
When I arrived at my new home, I immediately scoured the streets, searching for a music store. I
found the only location in the area and excitedly perused the selection. When I picked up a copy of
the new Red Hot Chili Peppers CD, I was shocked. CD prices had spiked up to $18 and $19. Such
a price was unthinkable considering the new list of expenses that came with being on my own.
Devastated, I was forced to go home empty handed, defeated by the industry I had supported
since I was a kid. For the next two years I brooded over my dilemma, unable to satisfy my
musical craving. As new albums continued to come out, I was forced to rely on the radio, and that
was no way to live. Then one day my friend introduced me to KaZaa, and everything changed.
Napster had already been shut down, so at first I was timid. I knew sharing music was illegal,
but millions of other people were doing the same thing; and besides, after years of support, these
musicians owed me. I typed in Red Hot Chili Peppers, and soon I had a huge list of songs in
front of me. I clicked on Californication and watched my computer seize the promise of new
music, a few kilobytes at a time. When it finished, I listened to the song as loud as I could, just to
convince myself

Roaring 20 s Fashion Analysis
The power of fashion is underestimated by many. I, myself was one of those many. Up until my
middle school art instructor, Ms.Jose introduced me to the fashion world. One day as I worked
on an art project, Ms.Jose randomly challenged me to create a Roaring 20 s look. At the time,
Roaring 20 s was a newcomer to my historical knowledge. Curious to understand what Ms.Jose
was referring to and where I had to get my inspiration from, I researched the history behind this
time period. I was astonished by how much of a role fashionplayed during this era, from the bob
hairstyles, to shorter dresses, and the famous designer Coco Chanel. Inspired by one of Coco Chanel
first collections, I designed a purple and red evening dress and accessorised the... Show more

I had always felt like fashion, was nothing more than wearing expensive and nice clothes.
However, after working on this project I realized that fashion is about empowerment. The
Roaring 20 s was a perfect example of that. Fashion empowered women to explore their sexuality
and stand up for what they believed in, despite society s standards on how women were
supposed to behave. You can take fashion in many different directions, and inspire positive
changes that s why I want to be a Fashion Designer. I am the perfect candidate for FIT, because I
have what it takes. I attended a high school that focused on the humanities, and because of this
fashion classes weren t offered. Throughout all elementary and, middle school, I d taken art
classes, and was part of art clubs where I expressed my creativity through paintings, and portraits.
It was something,I had already mastered. Now, I wanted to master expressing my creativity in my
designs. So I took matters into my own hands and enrolled myself in a Fashion Illustration and
Draping class at Mood Fabrics, located in Downtown Manhattan. There I met Ben, the class
instructor who taught me the importance of knowing all the types of fabrics, and how they drape
on the body. This is what determined

Communication Theory Of Identity In Advertising
Are you an Apple user or an Android user? I m sure you ve heard a similar debate of differing
brands in your lifetime. I, like others, usually don t put much thought into questions like these and
quickly reply I m an Apple user I love Apple . However, even the simplest questions of preference
can have root in our identities and how we communicate to others around us. Studies show that
consumers often chose brands that they feel align to their selfimage (Andreea Catalin, 2014).
Advertising, along with other communicationindustries, uses the concept of identityto promote
messages. I would even go as far to say that individual consumers have developed the image of
themselves from what products they use a very powerful tool in advertising. Scholars have stated
similar saying that identity is a code that consists of symbols (possessions), words (self
description) and the meanings that you and others give to these things (Littlejohn Foss, 2011). It is
important to understand how we come to define ourselves since identity effects many aspects of
our life, such as what phone we will use to our overall health.
Michael L. Hecht has developed a theory that explains identity, known as the communication theory
of identity. CTI views identity in the sociocultural tradition, assuming that social relationships
prefigure individual differences, allowing for a unified yet flexible sense of self (Littlejohn Foss,
2011). CTI is set in the philosophical framework of ontology, or

The Pains Of Sleep By Robert Southey Essay
The couplets encompass the odd tension of The Pains of Sleep : the ending is both over long,
extending the natural length of the stanza by an additional two lines, and abrupt, answering the
universal despair of wherefore fall on me? with an admittedly lacklustre response. The insistent
repetition such , wherefore , love furthers the resounding resolution of the poem. Coleridge s
draft of the poem in a letter to Robert Southey suggests that there is potential for movement
beyond the declaration of the last line, for he affixes c c c c c onto the end of the line, and
whilst a large portion of the draft is altered for its publication in 1816, this line remains
untouched. Perhaps the clue is in one of the lines from The Pains of Sleep which is altered for its
1816 publication but exists in the draft version sent to Southey as well: The self created Hell
within. (Letter to Robert Southey, September 12 1803.) The unfathomable Hell within. ( The Pains
of Sleep , line 46.) The poem can be seen as a verbal translation of the self created Hell within :
whilst the poem is structurally contained, the unfathomable interior world it describes, and the
claustrophobic blending of reality and unreality, all contribute to it seeming incomplete upon
interrogation. Coleridge rejects the universal question in favour of a personal answer because the
poem cannot adequately make sense of the distorted images it contains. Unlike

Brutus killed Caesar not out of hate but for the sake of his country. In spite of the fact that Brutus was the noblest, he had many strengths and weaknesses too. Brutus strength was that he was very noble and honorable and a great leader. On the other hand Brutus was very gullible and ha poor judgment. Brutus had an amazing love for his country. Weakness for GCT is when some individuals are not motivated to seek out group belonging. While other s may deny, hide and misunderstand their motives to misbehave. For example, younger students may have trouble in recognising their motives and older students may not want to do it at all (Lyons, et. al., 2006). GCT may be very difficult to use if there are a very challenging student and lack of acceptance from other school community members as there is no sound base of evidence to show its effectiveness (Lyons, et, al., 2006). Cognitive behaviour theory Two of the earliest forms of Cognitive behavioural therapy were Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), developed by Albert Ellis in the 1950s, and Cognitive Therapy, developed by Aaron T. • 8. Athens Under Solon Essay When the city of Athens stood on the brink of revolution, the citizens of Athens looked upon Solon and gave him the task of creating new laws for them because of troubles that had been plaguing them for a long time. They saw that he more than anyone else in city, stood apart from the injustices of the time and was involved neither in the extortions of the rich nor the privations of the poor (Plutarch 55, Par 1). In this paper I will be writing of changes that took effect under Solon and whether those changes resolved the conflicts that brought Athenson the brink of revolution. First, I will be writing about the conflict over land ownership and slavery between aristocrats and common people, who appointed Solon as reconciler and archon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They wanted Solon to redistribute the land which he did not do, but instead he made Olive oil the only product of Athens allowed to be exported. So if there was anything extra leftover from the farms of aristocrats, they had no choice but to give to starving poor and Hill peasants. If anyone were to export anything but oil be punished by archon or should pay fine to the public treasury (Plutarch 66, Par 3). After making Attica a great and secure place to live, he realized that the city was filling up with people in a steady stream from everywhere in Greek; at the same time he realized that most of the country was still poor and unproductive, and people elsewhere are not in the habit of sending their goods to those who have nothing to offer in exchange. He therefore encouraged the sharecroppers to turn to the arts and crafts of manufacture and made a law that no son was obliged to support his father unless the father first taught the son a trade of some kind (Plutarch 64, Par 2). At first, the changes Solon made did not please either party. The rich were angry because of being deprived of their securities and losing out on their property and the poor even more so, because Solon did not carry out a redistribution of the land as they had expected him to do (Plutarch 58, Par 2). However, it was not long before they realized that what Solon had done was great and saw the advantages of his policy. Athenians were so happy that they went on to appoint Solon to ... • 9. Essay On The Idaho State Standards And The True Story Of... I have known for some time that my weakest area on Charlette Danielson s Framework for Teaching is asking questions that require higher order thinking. As a first grade teacher there is so much information that I am presenting to them that we move at a very fast pace. I am constantly checking for understanding, but my questions focus on knowledge and comprehension. I rarely take time for lengthy discussions that allow the children to express their opinions and interpretation of the information presented. The Idaho State Standards and the Danielson framework make it clear that this is an area I need to focus on and that I must make time for it in my very hectic schedule. I developed a plan of action to assist me in this process and set a goal to have 80% of my students score a 70% or higher on their written reading responses and a 3 or higher on their oral reading... Each time the oral and written responses improved but they still required a great deal of teacher mediation. The second assessment revealed that only 24% of my student had met the oral target and 31% had met the written. My kids were making great progress, but we had started out much lower than I had anticipated. Day seven brought the great debate. Unfortunatley there was not much of a debate. They all believed the wolf because the title stated that it was the true story. They did however support their opinions with evidence. • 10. Nonviolent Direct Action Is An Option Violence is an option that is heavily debated when taking action. It can often result in complete chaos and not accomplish the original purpose of the action. Nonviolent direct action is another option that is contemplated. It involves the use of direct action without violent force to get the point of the action known. Examples of nonviolent direct action would include strikes and protests. The use of such action is often best implemented in human experience that involve discrimination. Differences in race, gender, or religious affiliation can often cause discrimination. Individuals in minority groups are seen as unequal to the majority and can be easily be discriminated against. To promote change, minority groups often take actions. The action can either involve violence or exclude it. Violent force can degrade the appearance of the individuals and create more anger between the two opposing sides. The use of non violent direct action shows more humility of those who are being discriminated against. Others being to understand the issue without creating chaos. Non violent direct action can also be used for political purposes. Protestors can often be found outside of government buildings demanding change. It also works well in this aspect because it can be more powerful than the use of violence. The destruction and anguish are generally what is heard about not what the purpose it when violence is used. Non violent action is superior at getting the issues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The subprime mortgages crisis, that started to be felt in 2007 and is still going on, is not an exception. The top ten banks of the world also suffered the consequences; these can be seen in the changes occurred among these leading institutions in terms of market capitalization and also total assets. • 12. Recommendations For Prevention And Mitigation Recommendations for Prevention/Mitigation Many ports do not have cyber response plans contained within broader risk plans (Kramek). All of the ports studied by Kramek had a dedicated security officer and a dedicated IT staff, but the security officers focus usually remained on traditional physical security threats, and IT was a separate and distinct department from security (Kramek). Kramek states, cyber security threats were not part of the security officer s response portfolio . Most security officers thought that their IT staff would notify them in some form or fashion if a cyber incident threatened port operations (Kramek). However, when during the response this notification to the security officers would be made is unclear given the lack of written response plans (Kramek). Ports need their IT department to be continually communicating with their security department. This would keep all the staff in the loop on current difficulties and security impairments and allow staff to find a cyber incident before it becomes too bad. Ports need to make sure that they have thorough written response plans in the case of a cyber security incident and that all IT and security staff that will be involved are ready to execute the plan if needed. These plans need to take into account that many industrial control systems are dependent, like many systems at ports and marine terminals, and run off computer networks (Sain). Foley s book analyzes whiteness through detailed analysis of race, class, and gender. What was most intriguing about this book is its comparison of whiteness on various racial groups and classes, for and how each struggled in comparison to the other in order to thrive and exist with one another. In this book, Foley shows a racial system that continues to produce both poverty material wise and poverty of where you stand racially. It is also very interesting that the system exploits not only Mexicans and Blacks, but also the poor whites who competed with them for work. In The Old South in the Southwest, a history of raceand power in the beginnings of the Republic of Texas is provided to the reader, for example, Indians and free blacks were denied the constitutional protections accorded to whites, while Mexicans occupied a nebulous, intermediate status between (nonwhite) Indian and (marginally white) Spanish (Foley 19), showing that the white Americans were having trouble categorizing Mexicans race wise. This was an important issue to resolve because in America, being able to have ownership of land meant power and thus meaning race determined who could and could not own property and establish ... You guys might ask what cardiac arrest or CPR is, so I will give you a bit of an insight to what they are. Cardiac arrest is a disorder where the heart suddenly stops beating, which stops the blood flow around the body to the vital organs such as the brain. In this circumstance, CPR if provided immediately at a scene, can be a lifesaving technique. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a means to preserve someone s life by maintaining their airways, breathing and circulation while professional help is along the way. And cardiac arrest can occur to anyone, anywhere, anytime. 30,000 people pass away each year in Australia from cardiac arrest. And due to the lack of people knowing how to perform CPR properly, sadly there aren t many lucky people who survive. Knowing CPR properly can mean the difference between life and death for people who are suffering cardiac arrest in most situations. Just one easy procedure that isn t taught to enough people. Though every human being is unique, there are often family shared traits that stand out from family to family. Family similarities occur because children inherit genes from their parents. Genes are genetic information that contributes to what traits children get, or don t get, from their parents. A child s genetic information is shared through tetrads. Tetrads are homologous pairs that carry genes controlling the same inherited trait. Tetrads are exchanged and distributed to the child during the process of meiosis. The base houses detainees in the war on terror since the September 11 attacks and ensuing military operations in Afghanistan. There are 41 detainees there as of January 2018 (Guantanamo Bay naval, 2018). Some issues to consider when analyzing whether to keep Guantanamo Bay open are the valuable intelligence learned from interrogating the detainees and the remote location of the facility. Several other topics to consider are the cost of running the facility and the legitimacy of the interrogation tactics. The first pro to examine when considering if Guantanamo Bay should remain open is the valuable intelligence that interrogators gain from the detainees. In my experience, TV in general is doing a huge disservice to any hopes of future racial parity by its extremely unfair portrayal of the young African American male. These young men are literally only shown on TV as sports stars, in the very best cases, and unfortunately most commonly seen as jewel adorned rappers, spewing obscenities, making offensive gestures at the camera, hustling around scantily clad young women as if they are simply commodities, and rapping about having sex and smoking weed. • 37. General Grain Theory A variety of programs attempt to achieve the crime control goals established by general strain theory, but none are explicitly drawn from general strain theory. Restorative justice programs are an example of this. These restorative programs aim to impose less severe sanctions on offenders to reduce the risk of offenders viewing their punishment as unjust. This is accomplished by making offenders aware of the harm they caused and allow offenders to have a say in the sanction they are subjected to. The offenders also have a voice in mediating with the community and victim of their crime, which in turn helps teach them to cope with strains through legitimate, non criminal means (Agnew, 2006). When students are suffering from bullying rather than turning to weapons carrying as a coping mechanism, students should be taught to inform their teachers of the strain and deal with it through mediation. Mediation is a way for negative emotions to be expressed and potentially eliminate the negative stimuli of bullying from a student s daily life. • 42. Analysis Of The Apprenticeship Of Duddy Kravitz, And Willy... In a capitalistically inclined economy, the influences of wealth and social esteem are rooted deep within the ideologies of such a system. Value of an entity is prescribed by these facets, those without wealth or esteem are belittled and depreciated, while those that come to acquire said commodities are prioritized above others in societal outlets. This is such that instills a drive within those under the governance of a market economy, the desire for immense affluence, as well as incontestable social influence. Duddy Kravitz in The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordecai Richler, and Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller thoroughly exemplify this drive for excess wealth and power. When analyzing the characters of Duddy Kravitz and Willy Loman, it is made distinctly evident that Duddy Kravitz is successful to a greater degree, when compared to Willy Loman, in achieving the generic and superficial capitalistic views of success. This discrepancy between the two characters is emphasized through Duddy Kravitz rigorous climb to social and financial influence. It can be observed, that both Willy Loman and Duddy Kravitz share an inner drive to acquire monetary wealth. Although this drive is instilled within them by the society they respectively live in, they experience diverging degrees of superficial success due to their ability, or lack there of, to adapt to the ruthless and competitive nature of a capitalistic society. (lines 1 6) Nabokov s character Humbert Humbert from Lolita is perfectly described in this stanza from Robert Browning s Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came. Nabokov compares Humbert to many poets throughout Lolita. Humbert likens himself to a Romantic poet with the intent of rationalizing his crime of pedophilia as an artistic endeavor. To Humbert, in particular, life really does imitate art. Art also imitates life. Nabokov created the character of Humbert in the image of Edgar Allan Poe . Humbert s life as a character closely resembles Poe s literary works of art, and Nabokov s art, the character of Humbert in Lolita, bears an interesting resemblance to Poe s true life. Edgar Allan Poe married his aunt s daughter Virginia, who at age thirteen was seven years his junior. Poe s aunt also happened to be his landlady at the time (Lepore). In the same way, Humbert started an explicit relationship with Charlotte s daughter, Dolores, age thirteen, after Charlotte s death. Charlotte was Humbert s landlady. This is an example of art imitating life. Humbert fancies himself a poet with discerning taste in nymphets, which excuses his preference for young girls because they are subhuman devils. Humbert ... I, like others, usually don t put much thought into questions like these and quickly reply I m an Apple user I love Apple . However, even the simplest questions of preference can have root in our identities and how we communicate to others around us. Studies show that consumers often chose brands that they feel align to their selfimage (Andreea Catalin, 2014). Advertising, along with other communicationindustries, uses the concept of identityto promote messages. I would even go as far to say that individual consumers have developed the image of themselves from what products they use a very powerful tool in advertising. Scholars have stated similar saying that identity is a code that consists of symbols (possessions), words (self description) and the meanings that you and others give to these things (Littlejohn Foss, 2011). It is important to understand how we come to define ourselves since identity effects many aspects of our life, such as what phone we will use to our overall health. Michael L. Hecht has developed a theory that explains identity, known as the communication theory of identity. CTI views identity in the sociocultural tradition, assuming that social relationships prefigure individual differences, allowing for a unified yet flexible sense of self (Littlejohn Foss, 2011). • 55. The Pains Of Sleep By Robert Southey Essay The couplets encompass the odd tension of The Pains of Sleep : the ending is both over long, extending the natural length of the stanza by an additional two lines, and abrupt, answering the universal despair of wherefore fall on me? with an admittedly lacklustre response. The insistent repetition such , wherefore , love furthers the resounding resolution of the poem. Coleridge s draft of the poem in a letter to Robert Southey suggests that there is potential for movement beyond the declaration of the last line, for he affixes c c c c c onto the end of the line, and whilst a large portion of the draft is altered for its publication in 1816, this line remains untouched. Perhaps the clue is in one of the lines from The Pains of Sleep which is altered for its 1816 publication but exists in the draft version sent to Southey as well: The self created Hell within. (Letter to Robert Southey, September 12 1803.) The unfathomable Hell within. ( The Pains of Sleep , line 46.) The poem can be seen as a verbal translation of the self created Hell within : whilst the poem is structurally contained, the unfathomable interior world it describes, and the claustrophobic blending of reality and unreality, all contribute to it seeming incomplete upon interrogation. Coleridge rejects the universal question in favour of a personal answer because the poem cannot adequately make sense of the distorted images it contains. Unlike ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
