The Sangath Architect's Studio in Ahmedabad, India was designed by architect B.V. Doshi with a focus on climate considerations. It makes extensive use of vaulted ceilings and indirect natural lighting to diffuse heat and glare from the sun. Daylight is drawn into the building through large north-facing openings, skylights projecting from the roof, and small cutouts in the roof filled with glass blocks. The design includes vegetation, water features, and grassy steps serving as an informal amphitheater. The roof uses various layers including concrete, ceramic tiles, waterproofing, china mosaic tiles, and a broken china mosaic surface that is both insulative and provides texture.
