Sample Winning Scholarship Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Sample Winning Scholarship Essays" can be both
challenging and rewarding. On one hand, the topic itself implies a high standard, as it requires
not only the ability to write effectively but also to understand and analyze exemplary scholarship
essays. This means delving into the nuances of successful essays, dissecting the elements that
make them stand out, and discerning the underlying strategies that captivate the attention of
scholarship committees.
One difficulty lies in the subjective nature of a "winning" essay. What may appeal to one
committee might not resonate as strongly with another. Thus, the writer must strike a delicate
balance, showcasing creativity, authenticity, and a unique voice, while also adhering to the
expectations and criteria set by various scholarship programs. It involves not only expressing
personal achievements and aspirations but tailoring the content to align with the specific values
and objectives of each scholarship opportunity.
Research becomes a crucial component in this process. In order to write a compelling essay, the
writer must study numerous successful examples, discern patterns, and understand the varied
preferences of different scholarship providers. This requires time, patience, and a keen analytical
eye.
Moreover, the pressure to stand out in a sea of applicants further amplifies the difficulty.
Aspiring scholarship recipients often share similar academic achievements, making it imperative
for the essay to serve as a distinguishing factor. This adds an extra layer of complexity, requiring
the writer to highlight their individuality and accomplishments in a way that leaves a lasting
impression.
On a positive note, navigating through these challenges can lead to personal growth and
improved writing skills. The essay becomes not just a means to secure financial support but a
reflection of one's character, ambitions, and the ability to articulate thoughts effectively.
In conclusion, tackling the task of writing an essay on "Sample Winning Scholarship Essays"
demands a combination of research, introspection, and the ability to tailor one's narrative to align
with the expectations of diverse scholarship committees. It is a journey that, while arduous, has
the potential to enhance not only one's chances of securing a scholarship but also their skills as a
communicator and storyteller.

The Gatorade Sports Drink Company
The Gatorade sports drink was founded in 1965 by a group of university physicians
at University of Florida after an assistant coached asked the why his football players
were so affected by the heat. This lead to the discovery and invention of a
carbohydrate and electrolyte drink to help replenish and refuel the nutrients lost
through sweat and exercise. The University of Florida s mascot is the Gator, which is
how they came up with the name Gatorade. PepsiCo acquired Gatorade in 2001.
Gatorade also has a 69.5% market share in sports drinks. PepsiCo has 6 divisions,
North American Beverages, Frito Lay North America, Quaker foods North
America, Latin America, Europe Sub Saharan Africa, and Asia, Middle East, North
Africa. Gatorade falls into the North American Beverages division. Within
Gatorades brand name there are a few product lines, The G Series, Endurance, and
Equipment lines. The sports drink is part of the G series which is based on three
steps, prime, perform, and recover and is part of the perform step.
Price
Starting out Gatorade was more of a premium pricing but that gave way to a
competitive pricing scheme after competition entered into the market.
Promotion
Gatorade does a lot of promoting. They are online though YouTube ads, ads on
sports sites like the NBA and their own official website. Gatorade is also the
official drink of many sports organizations such as the NBA, NFL, USA basketball,
US Soccer Federation, NHL, MLB, MLS, WNBA, high school sports
Unfolding Test Essay
chapter{Unfolding Tests}label{ch:UnfTest}
In order to measure the performance of the D Agostini 2010 unfolding algorithm, and
to compare it with other algorithms, we have developed an unfolding test suite.
The main inputs of these tests are the MC microtree file and the algorithm to be
tested. Where, The microtree is a ROOT~cite{ROOT} file generated by our main
analysis software, HighLAND~cite{HighLAND}, containing all the necessary
information about the events that entered the selection process.
First, knowing the signal definition, and the binning for the truth and reconstructed
variable distribution, we process the microtree file to build the truth and reconstructed
signal histograms, as well as the smearing matrix.

Cref{fig:UnfTest_CoverageBins} shows the bin by bin coverage at 95% CL, of the

subsection{Simultaneous Coverage}
We rely on the empirical simultaneous coverage with Bonferroni correction,
cf.~cite[Section 5.2.2]{KuuselaShapeConstraint}, for the whole histogram.
The Bonferroni correction accounts for the increase of type I errorfootnote{Type I
error is rejecting the hypothesis while it is true.} of multiple coverage tests, one per
bin, by decreasing the significance level of each test to be $frac{alpha}{n}$,
where $alpha$ is the type I error level per bin and n is the total number of bins in the
histogram.
Consequently, the confidence interval for each bin is then given by
begin{equation}
text{confidence interval} = big[hat{lambda}_k z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}}
sqrt{text{Var}(hat{lambda}_k)}, ; hat{lambda}_k + z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}}
sqrt{text{Var}(hat{lambda}_k)} big],
end{equation}
where, $hat{lambda}_k$ is the expected value of the unfolded histogram for bin k,
${Var}(hat{lambda}_k)$ is its varianceand $z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}} $ is the
standard normal quantile.
The simultaneous coverage test passes, if the coverage test for all the bins passes at
the modified significance level. The result of the simultaneous coverage test is shown

The Film Analysis Of The Wizard Of Oz
The Wizard of Oz is a film whom plot is based on a sad and lonely Kansas farm
girl, whose name is Dorothy. Dorothy is unhappy and dreams of a better place
without hatred toward her dog Toto from a hateful neighbor spinster, so in that
case Dorothy plans to run away to escape the unhappy life she lives. During her
plan to run away a terrifying tornado strikes her town and Dorothy is struck on the
head and transported to a falsity land called beyond the rainbow where she
interacts with people that are from her real life but are transformed into magical
characters. On the the yellow brick road Dorothy meets friends who on the way
overthrow the Wicked Witch of the West. Each one of the friends including Dorothy
have a heart desire of what they want and soon were granted with it from the Wizard
of OZ. At the end Dorothy was enabled to return to Kansas her home. The shot in
the film The Wizard of Oz established many details throughout the film. The scene
when the Wicked Witch of the West appeared to find her sister The Wicked Witch
of the East dead under the house with her legs sticking out and her feet that had the
red sparkling shoes is a great example of establishing a shot. It established the
details, the time, and the place of the film. While the witch is ranting about the
heals gone missing and being placed on Dorothy s feet they create a close up shot
on the Wicked Witch of the West when she says, I ll get you my pretty and your little
dog too. The close up shot
Violence In The Workplace Research Paper
Violence in the work place
Many people believe that violence in the work place only consists of physical
actions. Work place violence can be demonstrated through many acts. According to
researchers, violence in the workplace consists of any act where someone is being
abused, threatened, intimidated or assaulted in their place of work(Violence in
The Workplace, 2017). A few examples of these would be verbal threats,
harassment, verbal abuse or any physical harm to a worker. I have decided to
research violence in the workplace because I feel that it is a very important subject
that I myself would like to gain more knowledge on. Violence in the workplace is a
great subject that I believe everyone should know about. Also, I work at a fast food
restaurant where we are constantly dealing with customers and many coworkers. In
an environment like this, it is good to know how to identify violence in the work
place. There are many factors that can add to preventing violence in the workplace.
By law, all places of employment must contain a workplace violence protection
program. Researchers tell us that the most important component of any workplace
violence prevention program is management commitment (Violence in The
Workplace, 2017, p.5). The best form of management commitment is in a written
policy. This written policy should be created by management along with a few
workers. A few things that should be included in this written policy are any
consequences for violent acts in the workplace, multiple ways to prevent violence in
the workplace and it should also inform workers on how to properly report incidents
confidentially. For a more detailed and full list ... Show more content on

Industrial Psychology Essay
INTRODUCTION Industrial psychology is concerned with people at work. It is also
called personnel psychology. A closely related field is known as organizational
psychology. Traditionally, industrial psychologists have assessed differences among
individual workers and have evaluated individual jobs. Organizational psychologists
generally seek to understand how workers function in an organization, and how the
organization functions in society. The distinctions between industrial psychology and
organizational psychology are not always clear. Thus, the two areas are often referred
to jointly as industrial/organizational psychology, or I/O psychology. I/O
psychologists work for businesses, consulting firms, government departments, and...

To have value, a system should maximize the accuracy with which people rate
performance, and minimize bias. Industrial psychologists commonly develop training
programs. This function involves identifying performance or technical needs of
employees that can be met by training. It also deals with evaluating the effectiveness
of the training program. Training needs may include ways to (1) help new employees
get used to the organization, (2) update technical skills of current employees, and (3)
prepare employees for new responsibilities. Techniques used in training include
classroom lectures, work simulators, computer assisted instruction, and role playing.
Industrial psychologists devote much time to job satisfaction. They investigate
factors that have been found to relate to satisfaction, including employee turnover,
absenteeism, age, pay, and attitudes toward unions. Industrial psychologists also
study motivation because evidence suggests that both motivation and ability are
necessary for employees to succeed in their jobs. Thus, psychologists develop
systems for rewarding good performance, and they redesign jobs for greater interest
and challenge. Another important concern of industrial psychologists is what makes
an effective leader. The psychologists help identify the personality traits of a good
leader and the types of leaders who should be selected for a particular position.
Industrial psychologists also help maximize efficiency by

The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction
Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the
endocrine system including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs
whose dynamic function plays several critical roles in growth and development as
well was reproduction. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in
the development and regulation of the reproductive system. These tightly regulated
functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously changing signals from
the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The
hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including
gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH), luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicular
stimulating hormone (FSH) and operate through both positive and negative feedback
loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any part of this axis s function, either by
altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the physiology can impacted by
immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the endocrinology of male
and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects can have
severe consequences on reproductive physiology.
GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the
hypothalamus. GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream
to the pituitary gland and activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2
Once these cells are activated, signal transduction

The Movement Of The Church Of England
The people whose hearts sought for the freedom to worship God however they
pleased, helped spark a revolution that led to the country we have today. When the
Church of England was established, it suppressed many other religions that the
people clung so tightly to. The center and whole of many people s lives were
ripped apart and re centered on the now, dominant Church of England. After a short
period of time, it seemed that there had been some sort of dryness in the church,
where people tended to go through the motions and carry on with their everyday
lives. It seemed that the church had fallen into a religious sleep. People could no
longer worship in the way they wanted. The cause of many people leaving their
country was their liberty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The desire to journey to the new land began when the Church of England was started
and people no longer had the freedom to worship God in the way they wanted. The
Church of England persecuted other religions being practiced. The people wanted a
simpler form of faith and a less structured way of worship. They called themselves
the Puritans because they wanted to purify the church. A group that was even
more radical called themselves the Separatists because they demanded a
completely new congregation. After being persecuted, this group set sail for the
new world. Maybe here, they could worship God in the way they pleased. One
hundred and two pilgrims boarded the Mayflower, their ticket to a whole new way
of life. The ticket was a dangerous one, and the people knew it. They understood that
the ticket they held, the voyage to the new world, was a risky one. They knew they
were risking their lives as well as their own families. Yet they traveled on, realizing
the importance of the freedom they could have to worship the Lord. To them, that
was of much more importance than their very lives, showing their commitment to the
Lord. Puritans came to the new world in thousands, letting the Bible guide their every
step. The Bible was the governing document of the New England colonies. Although,
as strong and moral as the Puritan faith was, they too began to make the mistake of
the church they were fleeing from. Like the Church of England,
Winnie The Pooh By Winnie Pooh
Winnie the Pooh is a tale that spans across generations of childhoods and
adulthoods. The gentle appeal of a soft, simple bear and his group of eclectic
friends has captured the hearts of millions. However, in the search to make Pooh
more marketable, drastic changes have been made to the original text in order to
appeal to a wider audience. In my research, I will explore how the commercialization
of Winnie the Poohaffected the original text, both in its meaning and sentimental
value. Winnie the Pooh has not always been the stylized, bright yellow bear that we
now see plastered on countless spin off books, movies, mugs, and shower curtains.
On the contrary, the history behind the first publication of Winnie the Pooh is one of
sweet and simple origins. A. A. Milne, the author, wouldn t have even considered
writing a children s book if it weren t for his son, Christopher. Before Christopher s
birth in 1920, Milne was a somewhat successful playwright, mystery author, and
humorist for Punch magazine. However, he was inspired to write a book that his
son would cherish by basing it on Christopher s favorite stuffed bear, Winnie.
When Milne proposed the idea of writing children s poetry, his British publisher
was disappointed; he was expecting an adult mystery novel that he knew could sell.
After being rejected, Milne went to Punch magazine, where he was allowed to test
out his idea. In 1924, a Pooh like bear first appeared in the poem Teddy Bear, which
centered on a bear who
Jack Kevorkian Assisted Suicide Case Study

diagnosed with Alzheimer s. After her diagnosis, she started searching for someone
to help her end her life before the Alzheimer s took on its full effect. Adkins
contacted Jack Kevorkian for his assistance. Jack Kevorkian did his residency at the
University of Michigan where he became interested by death and the act of dying
(Biography). After many experiments and writing articles, he created the suicide
machine . This machine consisted of three bottles: saline, a painkiller and a fatal
dose of potassium chloride. After his contact with Adkins, Kevorkian agreed to assist
with ending her life. They met in a public park in Michigan where Kevorkian put an

because physician assisted suicide is illegal in many states. His conviction was
dismissed but the state of Michigan suspended his medical license and made it
illegal for him to use his suicide machine (Biography). Dr. Kevorkian also
videotaped his assistance with the death of Thomas Youk. Kevorkian sent in tape
to the television show 60 Minutes. He was then convicted of second degree
murder and sentenced to twenty five years in prison. Dr. Kevorkian was released
on good behavior after serving eight years of his twenty five year sentence. In
2016, physician assisted suicide is legal in only five states: Oregon, Vermont,
Washington, California and Montana. However, in the state of Montana, a court
ruling is needed. Physician assisted suicide should be made legal in all states
because with it being illegal it goes against a person s personal autonomy, it goes
against the Hippocratic oath that doctors have to take, and if the death penalty is
legal, it does not make any sense that physician assisted suicide is illegal in
Analysis Of The Bhagavad Gita
THE BHAGAVAD GITA AN ANALYSIS OF APPROACHING THE ULTIMATE
TRUTH AND JHANA YOGA Abstract In the Bhagavad Gita, the fourth discourse
which is composed of forty two verses, Lord Krishna, the narrator guides Arjuna a
warrior who is finding himself pondering about the simple principles of life while
he is fighting the war. In the fourth discourse Arjuna learns from Lord Krishna
about faith, wisdom sacrifice, ignorance, doubts of the soul, action and inaction,
selfless service, and self realization which ultimately leads to the ultimate truth,
which is the path for the spiritual soul to reach its maximum potential here on earth
and the afterlife. This essay will focus on analyzing the ultimate truth while seeing
how it coexists with the study and practice of Jhana Yoga. Each of the principles
presented in this essay will have an in depth examination. The philosophical and
religious as well as human natures are some of the most important themes that will
be displayed in this essay. The idea of the materialistic values that is present in
everyday life serve as the reason to why one cannot know the ultimate truth and
how one can overcome this in order to find supreme peace. Karma yoga will be
studied as Lord Krishna tells its importance to Arjuna, so he can follow the path of
divine fulfillment. The universality of religion and selflessness serve as the two
strengths one can achieve to be capable to have and live by the ultimate truth. The

In ancient Rome, architecture and engineering were highly regarded. It contributed
much to Rome s development, power, as well as the longevity of such an immense
and substantial empire. Architecture displayed an immense amount of workmanship
as well as innovation. This is seen through Rome engineers as they created the
concept of concrete, constructed the famous Roman aqueducts, and the luxurious
Roman baths. Roman s were clearly superior engineers compared to their competitors
because Roman engineers developed new and innovative concepts that were never
introduced before, therefore contributing to the success of the Roman Empire. Rome

Examples Of Theoretical Perspective On Family
Theoretical Perspectives of the Family
There are multiple lenses in which we can view the family unit. To gain a clearer
understanding of our families we develop theories to explain certain phenomenon
within the family. These theoretical perspectives include the psychodynamic theory
of families, family stress and coping perspective, family resilience perspective and
the family systems perspective. Throughout the course of learning about the
family life cycle, I ve examined these perspectives of family in relation to my own.
I ve noticed elements within each perspective that parallel my own personal theory
regarding my family. One perspective that I did not thoroughly examine was the
theory of resilience in the family. Resilience in the family is typically measured
when a family undergoes a major crisis, such as the loss of a loved one or
unemployment (Patterson, 2002a). In terms of research, there is some disagreement
as to whether family resilience should be measured in terms of how capable is the
family in overcoming such stressors, or measured in terms of the process which is
most commonly studied (Patterson, 2002b). For the purposes of the family
genogram, I did not find it helpful to study this theory in relation to my own family.
Instead, I focused on the family perspective of coping with stress.
From a young age, my parents stressed the importance of viewing our family as a
team. When one person is facing difficulty, everyone is responsible for making sure

Disadvantages Of Enlightened Despotism
Some of the traits most associated with enlightened despotism include many types
of reforms inspired by the Enlightenment made by absolute monarchs, these
reforms were of social, economic, legal, and educational, and religious tolerance.
These reforms did not allow for the question of their central power, or of the
accepted social class order. I believe this form of government to an extent could
work with today s political climate, as it has been going. Although, rule, entirely of
the monarch, would eventually fall, and absolute power would bring mostly
disadvantages. Religious toleration is something that is needed within all societies,
as it should be a promise never to change, because without toleration of religion, any
type of war is able... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The impact that Frederick II s reign had on the geo political organization of

Abigail Williams In The Crucible
Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible in 1953. Arthur Miller wrote it because of
personal events and what was going on at the time. The play was based in 1693
Salem, Massachusetts during the Salem witch trials. In 1953 communists were
treated very similar to how the witches were in 1693. In Arthur s life he had been
accused of communism and was fined and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Although
the play can be connected to more than just those specific times. It can be related to
the strangest most awful times in human history. The play had been written to get

My View Of Life After Death
Growing up with a very devout, spiritual parent, I was taught from very early on
that God was all knowing. I was also taught that humans have the freedom to make
their own choices about their lives and that is what determines whether one will
ascend to Heaven or descend into Hell. Whether someone choses to accept Christ
as their Lord and Savior is what will determine your life after death. I accepted this
as truth for a very long time, as I had no exposure to different views. I would argue
with my LDS peers on the meaning of Heaven and Hell and their nonbelief, and I
would trust everything I was taught without much question. In college, things
changed. I still believe in God, but differently. I have struggled with my own beliefs
for a while now, because everything I have known is being, or has been challenged
by discussions in my classes. I cannot imagine a life without my relationship with
God, but I also have a lot of questions, that my mother would balk at. In this paper I
aim to answer these questions, after critically explaining and analyzing Augustine s
views on free will. The main focus of the paper will be my own beliefs and my own

Theme Of One Art By Elizabeth Bishop
The poem One Art by Elizabeth Bishop is an intense and emotional poem of inner
struggle. At first glance Bishop s poem seems as though it is about mastering the
art of losing something, which she claims is very easy. In reality this poem has
much more depth to it than meets the eye. The poem tries to exercise control within
its form but in its emotions and ideas it is disorganized and uncontrollable. As the
poem progresses deeper the connections go from tangible to intangible losses. Each
item the speaker mentions losing gets to be more serious and intense the further into
the poem it goes. Throughout the poem Bishop tries to prove that the art of losing
is simple and easy but in fact the poem is about the opposite. It is actually a poem
about how hard it is to detach yourself from everything you care about in order to not
be phased by such things happening, the art... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although, this could be what the reader grasps when the read the poem the first
time there is a deeper meaning to it. In an attempt to prove her point Bishop writes,
The art of losing isn t hard to master;/ so many things seem filled with the intent/ to
be lost that their loss in no disaster (1 3). These lines can be read different ways but
the main way the reader reacts to it is that things are going to be lost in life and
there s nothing that can be done about it. Although that is one reading of the poem
isn t incorrect it is the sarcasm behind the words that set the tone for poem. To say
that losing, something which isn t fun or dignified is an art isn t what most would
think of when they think of art. Art is supposed to be beautiful or evoke a certain
emotion from a person. Losing isn t something you master nor is it a form of art.
This first stanza has sarcastic undertones to it and sets the reader up for what the
poem will be like in the coming
How Does Stewart Use Satire In The Daily Show
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart has aired on Comedy Central for over ten years.
The question of it being considered real news or not has been raised among many
news outlets across the country. The opening of The Daily Show appears to be like
any other news program we would see on other news broadcasts. The opening of the
program has similar imagery to other news programs. The use of the colors red and
blue not only symbolizes the Democratic and Republican Parties, but also symbolizes
America and patriotism. The Daily Showis broken down into three components with
multiple segments. The first component consists of the top news stories of the day.
Here, Stewart takes clips from already broadcasted news stories and finds the

comedic editing is an extended clip from earlier in the show or a brief clip that
points out a flaw in our American government and the beliefs of Republicans. Just
like the rest of the show, Stewart shows viewers the nonsense that the news is
constantly showing us. The Moment of Zen is usually humorous and points out a
ridiculous law or action that occurred. This is one of the more comical parts of the
show because it is more satirical rather than serious news. To call it a moment of
Zen is ironic because the segment contains information that would bother liberals.
This is a great way to close the show because if Stewart hasn t persuaded his liberal
point of views to the audience yet, this definitely
Why Is King Henry Viii Important
King Henry VIII of England was desperate for ultimate power and for his name to be
carried on throughout generations. He changed world history by beginning the
separation of the English government from the church hoping to establish the concept
of secular governments.
Henry Tudor was born on June 28, 1491 in the Greenwich Palace. He is the son of
Henry VII of England and Elizabeth York. After his father s death, Henry became
known as king of England. He married six different women (Catherine Parr, Catherine
Howard, Anne of Cleves, Jane Seymour, Anne Boleyn, and Catherine of Aragon) in
the time of his reign. His marriages are most familiar in the mnemonic device,
divorced, beheaded, died/divorced, beheaded, survived , talking about his wives.
Henry had six siblings, yet only three survived: Arthur, Margaret, and Mary. Arthur
was expected to take the throne considering he is older than Henry, but he died at
the age of 15, four months after his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. Henry was
offered to the family alliance of Spain by his father to Arthur s widow. At the age of
17, he had married Catherine.
King Henry was only a teenager when taking the throne, not even an adult. He had a
short attention span and no inclination to accomplish any hard work. Henry had

Henry was Roman Catholic and Roman Catholic s believed in marriage for life, this
put him in a tough position. The pope could excommunicate him, meaning his soul
could never get to Heaven. Henry had the Archbishop grant him a divorce so he
could marry Anne Boleyn. He declared himself as the supreme head of the Church of
England after the Christian church separated, in 1534, by the Act of Parliament. This
made the church separated from the pope and not under Rome s power anymore. This

Economic Impact Of The Great Recession
This paper will be defining the 2008 great recession and the economic impact
which the United States wasn t aware of. The great recession affected various
businesses and others forced to increase prices or close doors immediately. Fiscal
and monetary policies will also be discussed briefly in detail knowing the
differences and determining the best course of action. Lastly will be implementing
possible solutions to fix the economic problem and prevent any future recessions that
could pose a devastating impact to economy. 2008 Great Recession Involvement The
Great Recession was best known during the late President Bush into Obama era.
Great Recession defined as; the economic slump began when the U.S. housing
market went from boom to bust and large amounts of mortgage backed securities and
derivatives lost significant value (Investopedia.com). As the housing market was

rate for many cities dropped. The issue forced gas prices and goods to increase to
make up for the loss per capita rate percentage. The economy doesn t see the big
picture when prices rise and interest decreases, hurting, value and profits within

Hairstyles of the 90 s
In 1990 I was 13 years old. I remember that my hairstyle was as important as what I
wore everyday. I wore my hair up, all down, and in a half ponytail. When I wore it all
down, I would crimp it with a crimping tool or flat iron it with really big bangs,
using a lot of hairspray. When I wore it up, I would use a big, colorful, flashy
scrunchie to put my hair into a ponytail. The ponytail would always be at the very
top of my head and very big. When I wore my hair half up and half down, I would
also use a big flashy scrunchie to put it in a half ponytail. With that, I would also
make my bangs sticking straight up with a lot of hairspray. I look back at old
pictures of myself and think, wow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mullet hair is shorter at front and longer at the back. The Beastie Boys song Mullet
Head from 1994 became much more popular once the Mullet hairstyle came into
fashion. The Superman comics in the 90 s also shows Superman in a Mullet
haircut. Punk rock bands were mostly famous for Mullets, along with many
country singers, such as, Billy Ray Cyrus, Travis Tritt, and Joe Defoe. Sanjay
Dutt, a Bollywood actor also had a Mullet haircut during the 1990 s. The Afro
hairstyle comes to mind when I think of hair in the 90 s too. People with lengthy
and kinky hair texture maintained a fashion with the Afro hairstyle. The hairs are
extended out from the scalp and are made in a round shape like that of a ball or a
cloud. Creams, gels and other liquids were used to give the shape to this Afro style
of hair. Popular in the 60 s, the Afro hairstyle came back in the 90 s again, but with
various braids, twists and sizes. NBA players, Kobe Bryant, Michael Beasley along
with several musicians Ludacris, Wiz Khalifa, Beyonce had the Afro style of hair in
the 90 s. Next I will talk about the Frosted Tip hairstyle. The Frosted Tip hairstyle was

South Korea s order of preference among the choices are:
1. unification under a democratic system,
2. peaceful unification
3. the status quo,
4. unification under a communist system.
What can be said about these four outcomes as they apply to the Prisoner s Dilemma?
First, neither North nor South Korea sees the status quo as the worst choice. Second,
each side sees the opponents most desired outcome as its worst possible outcome.
Third, each side prefers a peaceful unification to the status quo. And lastly, neither
side prefers a peaceful unification to its own best choice. The result of this is, as in
the matrix in Figure 1 the preferred choice is the dominating strategy for both North

peaceful unification. Thus, the dilemma that faces both sides is: since neither side
can have its own best choice, they settle for the status quo. This is done in spite of
the fact that the possibility of a peaceful settlement to unification is exists (a peaceful

Alexander Hamilton The men who founded our country all left a legacy, however
one stays forgotten. Alexander Hamilton, who fought for equality and founded our
economic system, acts as the only founding father who didn t live to tell his story.
As one of the best authors of his time, his writings still live on today as a major
source of our country s history. Alexander Hamiltonpermanently altered the country
s political system and as the youngest of the founding fathers, deserves to receive
the praise he rightfully earned. It s hard to believe that a bastard child born of the
Caribbean Islands in 1755 could rise to political stardom like Alexander Hamilton

Additionally, Hamilton s writings in the Federalist Papers led to the approval of the
U.S. Constitution. Above all, his work in the U.S. economic system actively lives on
to this day. People still put their money into a national bank which would never have
existed without Hamilton s ingenious plans to end national debt. Hamilton also
serves as an example on how friendships and planning lead to success John Adams
referred to Hamilton as the bastard brat of a Scottish peddler , but Hamilton proved
he served a much bigger purpose than that. His hard work and determination
completely changed the course of the country. His persistence took him out of
poverty and now he shows himself through his writings and the United States
economic system. He exemplifies the American dream acts as an inspiration to me
and many others. Hamilton undoubtedly exists as a hero to this very day.

The focus of this paper is the person centered approach, which is the understanding of
personality and human relationships in psychotherapy and counseling in the areas of
client centered therapy, education of student centered learning, organizations, and
other group settings. Even though psychoanalysis and behaviorism have made major
contributions to psychology, it has influenced the understanding and practices of the
humanistic movement, specifically with the therapies for the different mental
disorders. Psychoanalysis understands the unconscious behavior, behaviorism focuses
on the conditioning process that produces behavior. Humanistic psychology focuses

It is important that the therapist conduct sessions in a way where they are showing

person centered therapy allows clients the freedom to develop and control their own

The Theme Of Water In Arthur Golden s Memoirs Of A
Geisha
From 1920 to present times, geisha numbers in Japan have dwindled from 80,000
to 150. In the words of Memoirs of a Geisha s film adaptation, [Geisha] sell [their]
skills, not [their] bodies...The very word geisha means artist and to be a geisha is
to be judge as a moving work of art. The differences and similarities between Arthur
Golden s Memoirs of a Geishaand its movie adaptation certainly raise the book in
preference over the movie. Chiyo/Sayuri s childhood background, Chiyo s encounters
with the Chairman, and the symbolism of water are all significant details in the story
of Sayuri Nitta.
Chiyo Sakamoto is born in Yoroido, Japan. With her mother sick and her father
growing older every day, she believes Mr. Tanaka is her liberator. Little does she
know that, at the tender age of nine, she is to be ripped from her poor, simple life

the head geisha in the Nitta okiya before Chiyo arrived. When Hatsumomo and
Sayuri have their final quarrel, Hatsumomo sets the okiya ablaze, enforcing the
impression that Hatsumomo s personality is linked to fire, making her and Chiyo

Comparison Of Actus Rea, Causation And Punishment
Actus Reus, Mens Rea, Causation and Punishment are all considered elements of a
crime. Actus reus or also known as the Guilty act , is the external physical part of a

they do not do. It is committing a voluntary act which ultimately causes harm to

Status offense refers to an act that is illegal for a teenager/ juvenile but would not

example of this is the possession of alcohol/intoxication or tobacco products for
anyone under the legal age requirement. More example would include running away
from home or school, as well as violating curfews such as on a probationary licensee.
The twinkie defense started with the case of Dan White. He was a retired police
officer and firefighter in san francisco before becoming a well known politician.
Due to depression Dan white resigned form his job in november 1978, however he
changed his mind just a day later. When coming to the realization that he would not
get his job back he decided to arm himself and make his way to the city hall. He
shot the mayor four times and then continued on to his supervisor, Mr. Milk, who he
shot five times. His defense was that he suffered from diminished capacity as a result
of his depression. He blamed the depression for eating sugary foods such as twinkies
and having an unhealthy diet. However Whits Defense never claimed that this
unhealthy diet was the cause, but instead that is was one of the symptoms he
experienced proving that he had depression. Dan White was only sentenced to 7 years

American mystery and thriller movies produced in the time period from 1944 1954,

Schopenhauer s On The Sufferings Of The World Essay
In On The Sufferings of the World, Arthur Schopenhauer has a pessimistic outlook
on life. He believes that suffering is a part of life and that without suffering, the
world would be an even more miserable place. As many people may assume, life
gets better as you grow older. Schopenhauer however disagrees with this statement
and claims that life continually deteriorates. Before reading this piece I strongly
believed that I was an optimist. I always like to see the bright side of situations but,
Schopenhauer really gave me a different outlook on life, a pessimistic view, and I
surprisingly agreed with many of his ideas. Although this is true, at the end of the
reading, I disagreed with more ideas than not. Therefore, I do not think that
Schopenhauer s account on life is a good proposal to live by because not everyone
is continuously miserable in their life and it is perfectly reasonable to have a positive
outlook on life.
Schopenhauer believes that our whole lives are supposed to consist of suffering. He
states, It is the good which is negative; in other words, happiness and satisfaction
always imply some desire fulfilled, some state of pain brought to an end (1). When
we are happy we are not suffering and according to Schopenhauer this is bad. I on
the other hand disagree with this idea and propose the question of whether or not
happiness is truly something that could be considered negative? Personally, I don t
see any negative aspects to being happy and I don t believe

As a new teacher, Erin Gruwell learned the students situation from the office and said
optimistically: I may not a good teacher, but I ll be a good student. But the first day
Erin Gruwell enters classroom with coltish enthusiasm, the students turn blind eyes to
her. Part of the reason is the racism. Ms. G is white which represents privilege that

that her diverse group of students is embroiled in the racial gang war culture of the

Cremation Ring Research Paper
Blog 4: Cremation Ring
Cremation jewelry isn t exactly a hot topic for dinner conversation. Humans find it
unpleasant to even think about death. However, one conversation couples need to
have is how each partner prefers to be interred. In the same vein, adult children must
know their parents desires. It s also essential for parents to plan for the demise of a
child.
Cremation is a viable option these days, as it does not impose such a financial burden
upon survivors. But, it does bring up the question of what to do with the ashes.
When you are in the moment, immediately following the death of your loved one, you
won t have the time or necessary inspiration to make a decision about their cremains.
As long as the cremated remains are in your possession, it s never too late to explore

This cremation ring looks like any piece of jewelry and is available in various sizes.
Since it is embellished with brilliant cubic zirconias, it would make a discreet
transition piece after the surviving spouse removes his/her wedding band.
It is also reminiscent of a mother s ring, making the Path to Heaven Sterling Silver
Cremation Ring a repository of precious memories shared between parent and child.
Cremation rings are special as there is a tiny vault hidden in the band for storing a
small amount of cremains. After depositing the ashes, just turn the threaded screw
and affix it securely with strong glue. If you aren t comfortable placing ashes in your
ring, ask the funeral director to do it for you.
The ring isn t cumbersome to wear and doesn t feel weighty on your finger. Whether
you select the sterling silver or 14k gold band, expect to receive compliments on this
gorgeous symbol of love you have chosen. You may further personalize your

Argumentative Essay On The Gay Rights Movement
The gay rights movement is not a party. It is not a lifestyle... It is not about sin or
salvation. The gay rights movement is an integral part of the American promise of
freedom (Urvashi Vaid). Many people were not supportive of the minority of
people coming out to the world and becoming a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
The actions of the many who did not accept the idea of being gay, lesbian or
transgender, would interfere with their confidence and freedom of being who they
want to be. The idea of gay rights was not socially accepted since it had differed
from the social norm of a male and female sexually attracted to one another.
However, there would be a safe haven in most cities for the LGBTQ+ community
to thrive and reveal themselves towards the people that truly accepted them for
who they are. Although there were very few safe havens around, these places
would be tormented by the police and many of the people in them would become
oppressed since they wanted to be in a place of acceptance. From June 28, 1969
through July 1, 1969, the gay community faced massive oppression from police
raids in Greenwich Village, NYC at Stonewall Inn, which caused them to start a
riot which ignited a major conflict for the sake of their own safety and freedom.
This riot allowed them to show their oppressors that they are human as well and are
able to fight back for themselves and for the future generations ahead of them. Due
to the lack of a formal compromise between the gay community and the police, many
people questioned as well as oppressed them because of certain religious aspects and
social norms, but the conflict resulted in the development of the Gay LiberationFront
and allowing the LGBTQ+ community to freely express themselves. Within many
religions, especially in Christianity, it is said that same sex relations are a sin. Since
most of the Americans around this time were Christian, many of them believed that
the relations between a girl and a girl or a guy and guy were so foreign due to the
belief that God created men and women so that only these genders could be together.
Organizations were made to stop the gay community from flourishing. They also
made many feel like there was something wrong
Rebellion in Persepolis
Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi is an autobiography
graphic novel. The book is about a young girl named Marjane Satrapi growing up in
Iran during the Islamic Revolution. In the book, many stories and struggles are
presented, such as the Islamic revolution, issues with school, the war between Iranand
Iraq, and Satrapi s struggle with growing up. The strongest theme from all of these
situations in the novel is rebellion. Rebellion is constantly seen, in many different
shapes and forms, all throughout this book.
In the beginning of the book (page 3) it became obligatory to wear the veil at school.
The panel at the bottom of the page shows the children rebelling against the veil by

Biblical Symbols Of The Bible
Throughout the Gospels, there are various symbols which have meanings that are
harder to grasp from one reading alone. Many symbols in the Bible need deeper
analyses and background knowledge to be able to fully understand and comprehend.
Throughout the centuries, there have been countless attempts to decode and explain
such symbols, some of which have been made by Origen of Alexandria. Origen
proposed a threefold structure for the meanings of Scripture, and I will be using this
structure to explain a passage found in the Bibleto its greatest potential. Afterwards, I
will be analyzing the symbol of kingdom using a technique that Smith has taught us.
One meaning of Scripture, according to Origen, is the literal interpretation. This
involves the body, narrative, and historical account of the meaning. One of the
passages I will be analyzing is Mark 12:1 12, otherwise known as the Parable of the
Tenants. In this passage, Jesus tells the chief priests, teachers of the law, and the
elders a story of a man who planted a vineyard. To take this reading literally, you
would assume it was just a story of this man, who sent servants to collect fruit from
the vineyard and had them killed off or beaten, one by one. Quoted from Mark, At
harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of
the vineyard. But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty handed. Then
he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him
Black Spider Research Paper
Nothing can cause us to turn into a ninja faster than running into a web. The
thought of being anywhere near the vicinity of these little eight legged creatures can
cause fight or flight mode. Whether you choose to grab your shoe and kill both the
spider and everything around it or you would rather jump on a couch and
contemplate burning down the house, knowing what you re dealing with can help.
Safety First Pest Control is here to explain how to identify a dangerous spider. Study
these tips on different spiders and you ll be ready to take on whatever nature throws
at you.
Black Widow
The most well known, infamous and incredibly venomous crawlers, the Black
Widow is also easily identifiable. The large black body sports a red hourglass
shape or dot on the underside. This marker is a giveaway that you are dealing with
the Black Widow. If you can t see the belly though and don t feel like taking the
time to flip it over and examine (who takes the time to do that) then play it safe. If
the creature has a bulb like dark body then assume it s a Black Widow and take
necessary precautions. You will usually find them in dark places like under a bed
and/or near a stable source of heat. If bit, call an ambulance immediately.
Brown Recluse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same is true for the brown recluse. This little sucker only has six as opposed to
the standard eight. Since the only person who is likely to stop and count their eyes
would be the person who would flip over the Black Widow, having a few easier
identifiers in your back pocket is safer. The recluse is, well, reclusive. You
normally find them by accident like underneath a box or inside a pair of shoes you
haven t worn in months. The dull brown color makes them good at blending in with
surroundings but if you do find yourself close, take a quick look at the legs. The
recluse has smooth tentacles devoid of thick
Qualities Of A Good Leader In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
John Maxwell once said, People buy into the leader before they buy into the
vision. What is a leader? A leader is one who knows the way, shows the way, and
goes the way. Qualities of a good leader require courage, charisma, strength,
knowledge and wisdom, good morals and power. All of these qualities of leadership
boil down to what is known as integrity. Integrity is doing what is morally correct;
it requires honesty, making the right decisions for the community, taking the
blame, and being selfless. A good leader should possess all these qualities in order to
be capable of leading and gaining respect from others. Cassius was set at such a high
place of being a leader, but Brutus proved he would ve been a better fit for the title.
In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, Cassius is the leader of the conspirators. Brutus, as
chosen by Cassius, essentially becomes his second in command in the plan to
eliminate Caesar. Cassius and Brutus portray specific leadership qualities in very
different ways. Brutus demonstrates he himself as the better leader through his
bravery, integrity and selflessness. Cassius bravery, or rather, lack thereof, is matched
up to Brutus at the time of their deaths during the Battle of Philippi in the fifth act.
Right before Cassius dies, he says to Pindarus, O, coward that I am, to live so
long, / To see my best friend ta en before my face! Stand not to answer: Here, take
though the hilts; / And, when my face is cover d, as tis now, / Guide thou the

The Violent Development Of Stars
Although once foreign giants to man, stars live some of the most explosive lives
possible. Over billions of years, the violent development of stars from conception to
death is one that had perplexed mankind for a while. Though as we formed a better
understanding of how they develop, humans have learned that these stellar orbs
directly influence the formation of, or death of objects in the universe. Stars are
phenomenal objects in our universe that are instrumental to its development. These
celestial bodies begin as a region of cold, high density nebula that condenses into a
globule of gas and dust. Over millions of years, the cloud is compacted and the cold
nebula gas begins to heat up as the molecules get excited for reacting together. Atoms
within the nucleus of this Protostar begin to clash with one another combining
hydrogen atoms to form helium atoms. As a result, the energy needed to sustain itself
throughout its life, is created by these reactions within the transformation As the
protostar radiates, it shrinks in size to generate the energy that replaces the radiated
energy . In turn, a balance is formed between cold temperatures and high densities,
meaning that the starwill have to generate heat proportional to the amount of dense
particles within the star. Additionally, the more dense a nebula is, the faster it will
form; and over time, the core heat of a protostar will will begin to approach 10
million degrees Kelvin, forming the perfect conditions for this
Slip And Fall Lawyer Essay
When a person is injured in an accident that involves a slip and fall, they need legal
representation. Many don t know how to find a slip and fall attorney, however, or
what to look for when doing so. Following are some tips to help in this process and
things to keep in mind when the time comes to make a selection. Why An Attorney
Is Essential Proving fault in a slip and fall case can be difficult. Often, it isn t
obvious who is to blame, and multiple parties may ultimately be held accountable.
An attorney understands how to establish liability and prove damages and can also
easily identify who may be responsible in a case of this type. The average person
lacks these skills, thus legal help is needed. Proving Liability The first step is the
process is to show that the defendant or defendants were negligent and this led to the
injuries. Falls tend to happen quickly, leaving the injured party unaware of exactly
what happened. The lawyer works to determine this, using information from
witnesses, any evidence collected on the injured party s clothing or other items in the
area and more. He or she also determines what led to the accident, such as defective
equipment, poor building construction and other factors. Once the accident scene has

For example. lost income must be properly documented and all other expenses
directly related to the accident tracked. It isn t always easy to obtain medical
records, simply as medical professionals are overwhelmed with other tasks. In
addition, the medical records may not directly correlate the injuries to the accident.
When selecting a slip and fall lawyer, individuals need to ensure they find one who
works with doctors to obtain this information by having the doctor or doctors write
reports stating the relationship between the two. The attorney will also use other
tactics to ensure all damages are compensated, including those of the emotional and
psychological
Philosophy Of Leadership Development Essay
PHILOSOPHY OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT For the Bible declares, And
thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with
all thy mind, and with all thy strength: and the second is like, namely this, thou shalt
love thy neighbor as thyself (Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27). God has set
this mandate for all believers. Furthermore, servitude is an essential part of what
believers are called to do. Through serving one another, there are different offices in
the body, and leadershipis one important office. Moreover, Romans 12:3 8 declares,
that all members in the body are blessed with giftedness to empower the body for
excellence.

This is the time when the leader elect is on his own. The mentor will monitor how
the leader elect handle different situations, along with how he or she runs things on

addition, the leader elect will get strengths and weakness. This will determine
whether the leader elect could move on by themselves. The final phase of this
training will be the encouragement phase. Where the leader elect is encouraged to
lead others to become leaders. By doing this process, the reproduction of leaders will
Moralism In The Interlopers
Saki, in The Interlopers, says that because our family plays an important role in
who we are, we choose to see only evil in our enemies for the sake of our kin, our
blood, until the threat of death opens us to more options. We choose to imitate
certain individuals whose beliefs we associate with more than others. More likely
than not, the individuals we choose to imitate are our close relatives; they often
have a bigger impact on our mentality than someone merely acquainted with us.
Because we are raised with them frequently present in our lives, we tend to inherit
the same qualities and interests, allies and enemies. Ulrich Van Gradwitz and
Georg Znaeym were brought up by separate families who share a long series of
poaching affrays and similar scandals [that] had embittered the relationships
between the families for three generations, (Saki 6). The way they choose to view
each other Georg as a petty forest thief and game snatcher (8), and Ulrich as a
greedy landowner is not a result of one s wrongdoing against the other, but rather an
ongoing hatred for each other s families. Instead of burying the old quarrel alongside
their grandfathers, certain individuals in their families chose to continue it, and now,
Ulrich had come to be head of his familyand Georg Znaeym, the inheritor of the
quarrel, (7 emphasis added). Like their family members before them, Ulrich and
Georg choose to continue the feud because neither is willing to denounce their family

Hepatitis C Virus ( Hcv )
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a small (~55 to 65 nm), spherical enveloped virus that can
cause major illness. Hepatitis C was discovered after the intense investigations
between 1982 and 1988 in Chiron corporation. Michael Houghton discovered the non
A and non B hepatitis by using the molecular approach. Hepatitis Caffects liver
caused by the hepatitis virus; the virus can cause acute and chronic hepatitis
infection ranging from a mild illness to severity, lifelong illness. Mostly patients
are affected with acute infection; however, chronic hepatitis is caused by liver
cirrhosis a severe scarring which can lead to liver failure. HCV affects more than
185 million people worldwide. The rate of chronic hepatitis is affected by race,
gender, and viral immune response. Depending on the certain region, hepatitis C
infections can be concentrated in certain populations or in general populations. The
HCV have high genetic diversity which is characterized by regional variation which
makes treating the infection more challenging. Hepatitis patients are often prescribed
ribavirin and interferon; but current research is developing new therapeutic drugs
which will be less toxic and can be targeted to each genotype. This review will
provide the historical, and scientific aspects of hepatitis C virus.
The Discovery of Hepatitis C: Michael Houghton through the molecular biology
approach identified the cause non A and non B hepatitis. Before 1989, the
investigators were
Historical Documents Affect Me Today
It seems like in today s day and age, most historical documents are looked over,
blatantly ignored. Many people are misinformed of what they are meant to be and
what the meaning is behind them. After I received my summer assignment, I asked
my father if we could go to the National Archives Museum and learn more about
what I d be writing an essay about. He replied, Of course. While I was there, I
thought about how they affect me today. Would I not have my freedom? Would I be
under British Parliament, a country almost five thousand miles away? Would my
family not be able to have religious freedom of being Christian Jewish? To think of
an overpowering government today is strange. Some people already believe that our
government is too powerful,
Christmas Persuasive Essay
Every Christmas, while you settle down around the fireplace with hot chocolate and
candy canes, do you ever think about the 100 million people living outside? I bet you
don t.
I believe that we take advantage of our snowy season. As we rush into shops to get
our gifts for our loved ones, we can only think of joy, family gatherings, food,
presents. But in the UK, 2016 studies show that more than a quarter of a million are
found to be homeless, and dread this period of the year.
Some of us dream about having a white Christmas, but as the temperature drops and
you re homeless, Christmas is the worst time of all. You re hungry, cold, and lonely.
You have nowhere to go, and people look at you as if you re dirt. December, January
and February are the darkest and coldest months of the year. For you, it means turning
up your heating, putting on an extra layer of clothing, or making more fires. But for
anyone living on the streets, it is horrid. They don t have a roof above their heads, or
a warm blanket to snuggle into. We only know how cold the day gets, but imagine the
nights! The noise, the weather, the dangers... nothing is safe.
Most humans believe that all homeless are drinkers, rude, and abusive, and while
that may be true in some cases, many just have mental issues or post traumatic shock
from something that may have happened in the past. Too many are ill, and we are
letting them die. Here is a real story about a woman named Jane, who has been out of
her home since 2012,

He studied science also as he was interested in it too. He studied Anatomy, Botany,
Optics, Geology and the Morphology a subject that he liked the most (Ibid). He also
studied light carefully and gave theory of colors that challenges the Newton s theory
of colors (Eckermann J.P conversation with Goethe).
On March 15, 1832 Goethe suffered from sudden respiratory attack that he believed
is for few moments. He dressed himself and set on armchair where he died and was
laid together with Schiller in grand ducal vault (Goethe, J.W.V. Autobiography: Truth

Goethe claims that he wrote this book in four weeks. It was published in Germany
and was soon translated in many languages (Goethe Autobiography: Truth and
Fiction...). The book has two major themes; an unhappy love, rebel against bourgeois
society and religious doctrines. Carlyle says, The Sorrows of young Werther
described the feelings of modern minds. These are the feelings which English poetry
never offered and perhaps can not (Goethe Autobiography: Truth and Fiction...).
Book can be called semi autobiography of Goethe. Henry Lewes says, Werther is not
Goethe but part of him (1968). Kestner, friend of Goethe, once said to him after the
publication of Werther that he has not described sincerely the relationship of
Charlotte with Goethe himself, it has been exaggerated (Ibid).
The novel describes rebel against social and religious conventions. It refuses
compromise on the social evils too. Suicide of Werther is the representation of rebel
against the bourgeois society and sincerity with the humanistic ideals of Werther; that
he knows no compromise on this situation. (Lukacs, Georg
Dr. Manette Insanity
In A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens frequently displays the recurrent theme of
recalling one s spirit back to life through the characters Dr. Manette, Sydney Carton,
and Charles Darnay. After being imprisoned for 18 years, Lucie Manette presumes
her father is dead. Consequently, his mental state deteriorates, until his reconciliation
with his daughter, in which, she became the golden thread that united him to a past
beyond his misery (Dickens 77). After Lucie Manette returns him from the brink of
insanity, Dr. Manette became the person that he used to be. From the darkness of a
shadow of a life nearly lost, the love and support of his daughter resurrected him into
the light past his pain. In addition, Sydney Carton was the aide to a
Napoleon Bonaparte Liberator Essay
You must accommodate yourselves to them. (Bonaparte, p.136) What is it about him
that makes him a legend? Just like many figures who succeeds the outcome of wars,
they know themselves as much as they know their enemies , which in this case is
what Al Jabarti sees in Bonaparte while Napoleon Bonaparte attempts to make
certain it would not have to be that way. Why out of all nations did Bonaparte go
after Egypt? For the reason that the real adversary of France, was Britain, and Egypt
was the foremost passageway for Britain s valued colony: India. In the journey,
what Bonaparte found was yet another opponent: Mamelukes. This would be the
chance to display the Egyptian their liberator. At least, that is what Napoleon
Bonaparte envisioned himself to be. To begin, a liberator is an individual who frees
a person or place from the confines of imprisonment. To explain, the loudest action
to emphasize their beliefs is by driving away the people who arise around the
supposed actual settlers that Bonaparte intermingles with. For instance, Bonaparte
was intrigued in the sheik and its owner, and when a little troop of Arabs on
horseback gets to Bonaparte s established headquarters, there were skirmishes that
drove them out. It is what drives Bonaparte. Bonaparte could no longer repress his
rage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On one hand, the topic itself implies a high standard, as it requires not only the ability to write effectively but also to understand and analyze exemplary scholarship essays. This means delving into the nuances of successful essays, dissecting the elements that make them stand out, and discerning the underlying strategies that captivate the attention of scholarship committees. One difficulty lies in the subjective nature of a "winning" essay. What may appeal to one committee might not resonate as strongly with another. Thus, the writer must strike a delicate balance, showcasing creativity, authenticity, and a unique voice, while also adhering to the expectations and criteria set by various scholarship programs. It involves not only expressing personal achievements and aspirations but tailoring the content to align with the specific values and objectives of each scholarship opportunity. Research becomes a crucial component in this process. In order to write a compelling essay, the writer must study numerous successful examples, discern patterns, and understand the varied preferences of different scholarship providers. This requires time, patience, and a keen analytical eye. Moreover, the pressure to stand out in a sea of applicants further amplifies the difficulty. Aspiring scholarship recipients often share similar academic achievements, making it imperative for the essay to serve as a distinguishing factor. This adds an extra layer of complexity, requiring the writer to highlight their individuality and accomplishments in a way that leaves a lasting impression. On a positive note, navigating through these challenges can lead to personal growth and improved writing skills. The essay becomes not just a means to secure financial support but a reflection of one's character, ambitions, and the ability to articulate thoughts effectively. In conclusion, tackling the task of writing an essay on "Sample Winning Scholarship Essays" demands a combination of research, introspection, and the ability to tailor one's narrative to align with the expectations of diverse scholarship committees. Unfolding Test Essay chapter{Unfolding Tests}label{ch:UnfTest} In order to measure the performance of the D Agostini 2010 unfolding algorithm, and to compare it with other algorithms, we have developed an unfolding test suite. The main inputs of these tests are the MC microtree file and the algorithm to be tested. Where, The microtree is a ROOT~cite{ROOT} file generated by our main analysis software, HighLAND~cite{HighLAND}, containing all the necessary information about the events that entered the selection process. The Bonferroni correction accounts for the increase of type I errorfootnote{Type I error is rejecting the hypothesis while it is true.} of multiple coverage tests, one per bin, by decreasing the significance level of each test to be $frac{alpha}{n}$, where $alpha$ is the type I error level per bin and n is the total number of bins in the histogram. Consequently, the confidence interval for each bin is then given by begin{equation} text{confidence interval} = big[hat{lambda}_k z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}} sqrt{text{Var}(hat{lambda}_k)}, ; hat{lambda}_k + z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}} sqrt{text{Var}(hat{lambda}_k)} big], end{equation} where, $hat{lambda}_k$ is the expected value of the unfolded histogram for bin k, ${Var}(hat{lambda}_k)$ is its varianceand $z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}} $ is the standard normal quantile. • 5. Violence In The Workplace Research Paper Violence in the work place Many people believe that violence in the work place only consists of physical actions. Work place violence can be demonstrated through many acts. According to researchers, violence in the workplace consists of any act where someone is being abused, threatened, intimidated or assaulted in their place of work(Violence in The Workplace, 2017). A few examples of these would be verbal threats, harassment, verbal abuse or any physical harm to a worker. I have decided to research violence in the workplace because I feel that it is a very important subject that I myself would like to gain more knowledge on. Violence in the workplace is a great subject that I believe everyone should know about. Also, I work at a fast food restaurant where we are constantly dealing with customers and many coworkers. In an environment like this, it is good to know how to identify violence in the work place. There are many factors that can add to preventing violence in the workplace. By law, all places of employment must contain a workplace violence protection program. Researchers tell us that the most important component of any workplace violence prevention program is management commitment (Violence in The Workplace, 2017, p.5). The best form of management commitment is in a written policy. This written policy should be created by management along with a few workers. A few things that should be included in this written policy are any consequences for violent acts in the workplace, multiple ways to prevent violence in the workplace and it should also inform workers on how to properly report incidents confidentially. A closely related field is known as organizational psychology. Traditionally, industrial psychologists have assessed differences among individual workers and have evaluated individual jobs. Organizational psychologists generally seek to understand how workers function in an organization, and how the organization functions in society. Industrial psychologists commonly develop training programs. This function involves identifying performance or technical needs of employees that can be met by training. It also deals with evaluating the effectiveness of the training program. Training needs may include ways to (1) help new employees get used to the organization, (2) update technical skills of current employees, and (3) prepare employees for new responsibilities. Techniques used in training include classroom lectures, work simulators, computer assisted instruction, and role playing. Industrial psychologists devote much time to job satisfaction. They investigate factors that have been found to relate to satisfaction, including employee turnover, absenteeism, age, pay, and attitudes toward unions. Industrial psychologists also study motivation because evidence suggests that both motivation and ability are necessary for employees to succeed in their jobs. Thus, psychologists develop systems for rewarding good performance, and they redesign jobs for greater interest and challenge. Another important concern of industrial psychologists is what makes an effective leader. The psychologists help identify the personality traits of a good leader and the types of leaders who should be selected for a particular position. • 8. The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the endocrine system including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs whose dynamic function plays several critical roles in growth and development as well was reproduction. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in the development and regulation of the reproductive system. These tightly regulated functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously changing signals from the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH), luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and operate through both positive and negative feedback loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any part of this axis s function, either by altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the physiology can impacted by immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the endocrinology of male and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects can have severe consequences on reproductive physiology. GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the hypothalamus. GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream to the pituitary gland and activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2 Once these cells are activated, signal transduction

  • 10. The Movement Of The Church Of England The people whose hearts sought for the freedom to worship God however they pleased, helped spark a revolution that led to the country we have today. When the Church of England was established, it suppressed many other religions that the people clung so tightly to. The center and whole of many people s lives were ripped apart and re centered on the now, dominant Church of England. After a short period of time, it seemed that there had been some sort of dryness in the church, where people tended to go through the motions and carry on with their everyday lives. It seemed that the church had fallen into a religious sleep. People could no longer worship in the way they wanted. The cause of many people leaving their country was their liberty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The desire to journey to the new land began when the Church of England was started and people no longer had the freedom to worship God in the way they wanted. The Church of England persecuted other religions being practiced. The people wanted a simpler form of faith and a less structured way of worship. They called themselves the Puritans because they wanted to purify the church. A group that was even more radical called themselves the Separatists because they demanded a completely new congregation. After being persecuted, this group set sail for the new world. Maybe here, they could worship God in the way they pleased. One hundred and two pilgrims boarded the Mayflower, their ticket to a whole new way of life. The ticket was a dangerous one, and the people knew it. They understood that the ticket they held, the voyage to the new world, was a risky one. They knew they were risking their lives as well as their own families. Yet they traveled on, realizing the importance of the freedom they could have to worship the Lord. To them, that was of much more importance than their very lives, showing their commitment to the Lord. Puritans came to the new world in thousands, letting the Bible guide their every step. The Bible was the governing document of the New England colonies. Although, as strong and moral as the Puritan faith was, they too began to make the mistake of the church they were fleeing from. Like the Church of England,
  • 11. Winnie The Pooh By Winnie Pooh Winnie the Pooh is a tale that spans across generations of childhoods and adulthoods. The gentle appeal of a soft, simple bear and his group of eclectic friends has captured the hearts of millions. However, in the search to make Pooh more marketable, drastic changes have been made to the original text in order to appeal to a wider audience. In my research, I will explore how the commercialization of Winnie the Poohaffected the original text, both in its meaning and sentimental value. Winnie the Pooh has not always been the stylized, bright yellow bear that we now see plastered on countless spin off books, movies, mugs, and shower curtains. On the contrary, the history behind the first publication of Winnie the Pooh is one of sweet and simple origins. A. A. Milne, the author, wouldn t have even considered writing a children s book if it weren t for his son, Christopher. Before Christopher s birth in 1920, Milne was a somewhat successful playwright, mystery author, and humorist for Punch magazine. However, he was inspired to write a book that his son would cherish by basing it on Christopher s favorite stuffed bear, Winnie. When Milne proposed the idea of writing children s poetry, his British publisher was disappointed; he was expecting an adult mystery novel that he knew could sell. After being rejected, Milne went to Punch magazine, where he was allowed to test out his idea. In 1924, a Pooh like bear first appeared in the poem Teddy Bear, which centered on a bear who

Dr. Kevorkian also videotaped his assistance with the death of Thomas Youk. Kevorkian sent in tape to the television show 60 Minutes. He was then convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to twenty five years in prison. Dr. Kevorkian was released on good behavior after serving eight years of his twenty five year sentence. In 2016, physician assisted suicide is legal in only five states: Oregon, Vermont, Washington, California and Montana. However, in the state of Montana, a court ruling is needed. Physician assisted suicide should be made legal in all states because with it being illegal it goes against a person s personal autonomy, it goes against the Hippocratic oath that doctors have to take, and if the death penalty is legal, it does not make any sense that physician assisted suicide is illegal in

These theoretical perspectives include the psychodynamic theory of families, family stress and coping perspective, family resilience perspective and the family systems perspective. Throughout the course of learning about the family life cycle, I ve examined these perspectives of family in relation to my own. I ve noticed elements within each perspective that parallel my own personal theory regarding my family. One perspective that I did not thoroughly examine was the theory of resilience in the family. Resilience in the family is typically measured when a family undergoes a major crisis, such as the loss of a loved one or unemployment (Patterson, 2002a). In terms of research, there is some disagreement as to whether family resilience should be measured in terms of how capable is the family in overcoming such stressors, or measured in terms of the process which is most commonly studied (Patterson, 2002b). For the purposes of the family genogram, I did not find it helpful to study this theory in relation to my own family. Instead, I focused on the family perspective of coping with stress. From a young age, my parents stressed the importance of viewing our family as a team. When one person is facing difficulty, everyone is responsible for making sure the

Disadvantages Of Enlightened Despotism Some of the traits most associated with enlightened despotism include many types of reforms inspired by the Enlightenment made by absolute monarchs, these reforms were of social, economic, legal, and educational, and religious tolerance. These reforms did not allow for the question of their central power, or of the accepted social class order. I believe this form of government to an extent could work with today s political climate, as it has been going. Although, rule, entirely of the monarch, would eventually fall, and absolute power would bring mostly disadvantages. • 20. My View Of Life After Death Growing up with a very devout, spiritual parent, I was taught from very early on that God was all knowing. I was also taught that humans have the freedom to make their own choices about their lives and that is what determines whether one will ascend to Heaven or descend into Hell. Whether someone choses to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior is what will determine your life after death. I accepted this as truth for a very long time, as I had no exposure to different views. I would argue with my LDS peers on the meaning of Heaven and Hell and their nonbelief, and I would trust everything I was taught without much question. In college, things changed. I still believe in God, but differently. I have struggled with my own beliefs for a while now, because everything I have known is being, or has been challenged by discussions in my classes. I cannot imagine a life without my relationship with God, but I also have a lot of questions, that my mother would balk at. In this paper I aim to answer these questions, after critically explaining and analyzing Augustine s views on free will. The main focus of the paper will be my own beliefs and my own conclusions, and thoughts on how humans can be both predetermined and have free will. I aim to show my understanding on Augustine and also provide a clear and concise explanation of how and why I believe the way I do. At first glance Bishop s poem seems as though it is about mastering the art of losing something, which she claims is very easy. In reality this poem has much more depth to it than meets the eye. The poem tries to exercise control within its form but in its emotions and ideas it is disorganized and uncontrollable. As the poem progresses deeper the connections go from tangible to intangible losses. Each item the speaker mentions losing gets to be more serious and intense the further into the poem it goes. He changed world history by beginning the separation of the English government from the church hoping to establish the concept of secular governments. Henry Tudor was born on June 28, 1491 in the Greenwich Palace. He is the son of Henry VII of England and Elizabeth York. After his father s death, Henry became known as king of England. He married six different women (Catherine Parr, Catherine Howard, Anne of Cleves, Jane Seymour, Anne Boleyn, and Catherine of Aragon) in the time of his reign. • 38. Schopenhauer s On The Sufferings Of The World Essay In On The Sufferings of the World, Arthur Schopenhauer has a pessimistic outlook on life. He believes that suffering is a part of life and that without suffering, the world would be an even more miserable place. As many people may assume, life gets better as you grow older. Schopenhauer however disagrees with this statement and claims that life continually deteriorates. Before reading this piece I strongly believed that I was an optimist. I always like to see the bright side of situations but, Schopenhauer really gave me a different outlook on life, a pessimistic view, and I surprisingly agreed with many of his ideas. Although this is true, at the end of the reading, I disagreed with more ideas than not. Therefore, I do not think that Schopenhauer s account on life is a good proposal to live by because not everyone is continuously miserable in their life and it is perfectly reasonable to have a positive outlook on life. Schopenhauer believes that our whole lives are supposed to consist of suffering. He states, It is the good which is negative; in other words, happiness and satisfaction always imply some desire fulfilled, some state of pain brought to an end (1). When we are happy we are not suffering and according to Schopenhauer this is bad. I on the other hand disagree with this idea and propose the question of whether or not happiness is truly something that could be considered negative? Personally, I don t see any negative aspects to being happy and I don t believe

  • 41. Argumentative Essay On The Gay Rights Movement The gay rights movement is not a party. It is not a lifestyle... It is not about sin or salvation. The gay rights movement is an integral part of the American promise of freedom (Urvashi Vaid). Many people were not supportive of the minority of people coming out to the world and becoming a part of the LGBTQ+ community. The actions of the many who did not accept the idea of being gay, lesbian or transgender, would interfere with their confidence and freedom of being who they want to be. The idea of gay rights was not socially accepted since it had differed from the social norm of a male and female sexually attracted to one another. However, there would be a safe haven in most cities for the LGBTQ+ community to thrive and reveal themselves towards the people that truly accepted them for who they are. Although there were very few safe havens around, these places would be tormented by the police and many of the people in them would become oppressed since they wanted to be in a place of acceptance. From June 28, 1969 through July 1, 1969, the gay community faced massive oppression from police raids in Greenwich Village, NYC at Stonewall Inn, which caused them to start a riot which ignited a major conflict for the sake of their own safety and freedom. This riot allowed them to show their oppressors that they are human as well and are able to fight back for themselves and for the future generations ahead of them. Due to the lack of a formal compromise between the gay community and the police, many people questioned as well as oppressed them because of certain religious aspects and social norms, but the conflict resulted in the development of the Gay LiberationFront and allowing the LGBTQ+ community to freely express themselves. Within many religions, especially in Christianity, it is said that same sex relations are a sin. Since most of the Americans around this time were Christian, many of them believed that the relations between a girl and a girl or a guy and guy were so foreign due to the belief that God created men and women so that only these genders could be together. Organizations were made to stop the gay community from flourishing. They also made many feel like there was something wrong

  • 43. Biblical Symbols Of The Bible Throughout the Gospels, there are various symbols which have meanings that are harder to grasp from one reading alone. Many symbols in the Bible need deeper analyses and background knowledge to be able to fully understand and comprehend. Throughout the centuries, there have been countless attempts to decode and explain such symbols, some of which have been made by Origen of Alexandria. Origen proposed a threefold structure for the meanings of Scripture, and I will be using this structure to explain a passage found in the Bibleto its greatest potential. Afterwards, I will be analyzing the symbol of kingdom using a technique that Smith has taught us. One meaning of Scripture, according to Origen, is the literal interpretation. This involves the body, narrative, and historical account of the meaning. One of the passages I will be analyzing is Mark 12:1 12, otherwise known as the Parable of the Tenants. In this passage, Jesus tells the chief priests, teachers of the law, and the elders a story of a man who planted a vineyard. To take this reading literally, you would assume it was just a story of this man, who sent servants to collect fruit from the vineyard and had them killed off or beaten, one by one. Quoted from Mark, At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty handed. Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him

A leader is one who knows the way, shows the way, and goes the way. Qualities of a good leader require courage, charisma, strength, knowledge and wisdom, good morals and power. All of these qualities of leadership boil down to what is known as integrity. Integrity is doing what is morally correct; it requires honesty, making the right decisions for the community, taking the blame, and being selfless. A good leader should possess all these qualities in order to be capable of leading and gaining respect from others. Cassius was set at such a high place of being a leader, but Brutus proved he would ve been a better fit for the title. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, Cassius is the leader of the conspirators. Over billions of years, the violent development of stars from conception to death is one that had perplexed mankind for a while. Though as we formed a better understanding of how they develop, humans have learned that these stellar orbs directly influence the formation of, or death of objects in the universe. Stars are phenomenal objects in our universe that are instrumental to its development. These celestial bodies begin as a region of cold, high density nebula that condenses into a globule of gas and dust. Over millions of years, the cloud is compacted and the cold nebula gas begins to heat up as the molecules get excited for reacting together. Atoms within the nucleus of this Protostar begin to clash with one another combining hydrogen atoms to form helium atoms. As a result, the energy needed to sustain itself throughout its life, is created by these reactions within the transformation As the protostar radiates, it shrinks in size to generate the energy that replaces the radiated energy . In turn, a balance is formed between cold temperatures and high densities, meaning that the starwill have to generate heat proportional to the amount of dense particles within the star. Additionally, the more dense a nebula is, the faster it will form; and over time, the core heat of a protostar will will begin to approach 10 million degrees Kelvin, forming the perfect conditions for this
