Good Compare And Contrast Essay
Writing a good compare and contrast essay can be a challenging task that requires careful
thought, analysis, and organization. The difficulty lies not only in identifying meaningful
similarities and differences between the chosen subjects but also in presenting them coherently
and persuasively. Crafting a well-balanced essay involves thorough research, critical thinking,
and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
One of the key challenges is selecting appropriate subjects for comparison. The topics must be
sufficiently similar to draw relevant parallels while also being distinct enough to offer
meaningful contrasts. Once the subjects are chosen, the writer must delve into research to gather
relevant information and develop a deep understanding of each topic. This research phase can be
time-consuming and requires the ability to discern important details from a multitude of sources.
The next challenge lies in structuring the essay effectively. A clear and logical organization is
crucial to guide the reader through the comparison and contrast process. Developing a strong
thesis statement that encapsulates the main argument and highlights the significance of the
comparison adds another layer of complexity.
Moreover, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion is essential to engage the reader and
leave a lasting impression. The introduction should provide context and establish the purpose of
the essay, while the conclusion should synthesize the key points and leave the reader with a
thoughtful takeaway.
Additionally, maintaining a balanced tone and avoiding bias is crucial in a compare and contrast
essay. It requires presenting both sides fairly and objectively, without favoring one subject over
the other. Achieving this equilibrium while still expressing a clear stance on the comparison
demands a refined writing style and careful language choice.
In conclusion, writing a good compare and contrast essay involves overcoming several
challenges, from selecting suitable subjects to presenting a well-organized and persuasive
argument. The process requires time, effort, and a strong grasp of both the subjects being
compared. However, with diligence and attention to detail, it is possible to create an essay that
effectively explores the similarities and differences between two topics.

Who Was Responsible For The Origins Of The Cold War
1.1 Historiography behind the origins of the Cold War
The Cold War was a period of tension and suspicion between the USA and USSR
that lasted from 1945 49 (Kent, 2004, pp. 51 57). This conflict had numerous
causes, even if the USA and USSR were allies during 1941 45, fighting against
Nazi Germany and Japan. (McAleavy, 2002, pp. 94 96) Various factors contributed
to the break up of this wartime alliance; US policies, Soviet actions, and other factors
such as the Russian Revolution of 1917, all crated a climate of tension and distrust,
which destroyed the links between the two superpowers, leading to the Cold War.
(Winkler, 2003, pp. 11 13)
There are three theories about the origins of the Cold War. The orthodox or
traditionalist interpretation, which suggests that the responsibility for the Cold War
was Soviet, and that the US was just forced to act against Soviet aggression. The
revisionist theory suggests that the responsible for the war were the US and that the ...

Besides, previously independent nations such as Poland and Czechoslovakia were
now communist. Moreover, the USSR was much more stronger due to the increase
in its empire, which lead to more population, therefore more resources, and so a
greater industrial base. In this way, it presented more of a threat to the USA since
the USSR was becoming much powerful than it was before the outbreak of the
Second World War, and although the USSR had helped the USA against Japan, these
Soviet actions led to tension and suspicion between the two nations. Therefore, the
soviet actions in Europe increased the tensions between them, leading to the break up
of the wartime alliance, and so creating the necessary conditions for the Cold
Studying Chemical Engineering At Mcgill University
There are numerous ways to teach a new subject to someone, some strategies work
better than others depending on the discipline. Now, I am concluding my final
semester of Honours Health Science and will be going to study Chemical
engineering at McGill University. Though I do not see myself being a teacher in the
near future, I hope that I can continue to tutor people in science based classes and
perhaps one day teach the subject after getting the appropriate degree needed to be a
teacher in Higher Education. I hope that one day, I can be a Chemistry teacher at
either the CEGEP level, or at the University level. I am choosing this particular
discipline, since I am familiar very comfortable with the subject, and because of
how Chemistry is everywhere; it s in the foods we eat, everything we touch, and
everything we see. Along with that, every science student at CEGEP level must
complete at least 2 Chemistry courses before graduating, and 3 for those in the
Health Sciences. Based on what I have seen at College level, certain teaching
strategies are better suited than others depending on the course being taught, and also
based on the amount of free time a student has that can be invested in a class. The
best suited educational philosophies for teaching Chemistry would have to be
Realism and Pragmatism. Realism is very well suited to studying the subject, because
of how students learn through studying what goes on in reality (not just in theory)
and due to how the philosophy is
Essay On Edwards-Trinity Aquifer
The Edwards Trinity Aquifer is one of Texas major aquifers, located in west central
Texas and spanning near 42,000 square miles as shown in figure 1 (Barker and
Ardis 1996, 2). The aquifer encompasses 36 counties including major counties such
as Crockett, Edwards and Val Verde as shown in figure 2 (Hopkins 1995, 2). The
population is relatively sparse, with most of the population located in small cities
Anaya 2001, 100). It is divided into four subareas based on the topography of each
area, Edwards plateau, Trans Pecos, Hill Country and Balcones fault zone (Barker
and Ardis 1996, 5). Edwards plateau has two types of terrain, the interior of the
plateau is fairly flat with a gradual slope, and the outer portions are more rugged with
canyons... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The minor aquifers are Dockum, the Capitan, the Rustler, the Hickory, the
Ellenburger San Saba, the Lipan and to a small amount Marble Falls (Anaya 2001,
113). The aquifer is mostly unconfined but is semi confined in parts of the Trinity
(Anaya 2001, 113). The direction of the groundwater flow is controlled by the
areas of discharge, which are displayed by the strong influence of the streams form
on the potentiometric surface (Barker and Ardis 1996, 35). The predominant
direction of the groundwater flow is northwest to southeast, caused the base slope
of the aquifer (Barker and Ardis 1996, 35). This flow is also normal to the
potentiometric surface as shown in figure 3, except where the aquifer is
anisotropic (Barker and Ardis 1996, 37). Most of the recharge that occurs in the
Edward Trinity aquifer happens from infiltration of precipitation over the outcrops
and the sinkholes (Anaya 2001, 113). The average recharge rate over the eastern
part of the plateau is 0.12 to 2.24 inches per year whereas over the Trans Pecos
region is 0.3 to 0.4 inches per year (Anaya 2001, 113). In certain areas of the
plateau such as Pecos and Reeves counties there is induced recharge being caused
from the water level declines due to irrigation pumping (Anaya 2001, 116). Discharge
occurs in the southern and eastern portions from cross formational flow
Documentary Photography During The Progressive Era
During the Progressive Era, documentary photography progressed into a form of
communication. Photography during this time was a way to tell the public a story.
The progressive era was not only a social movement but also a political reform.
Many progressives exposed problems society faced such as: poverty, child labor,
violence, and political corruption. Documentary photographyhad many important
players during the Progressive Era. One of the most familiar is George Eastmanand
the Kodak.
On July 12, 1854 George Eastman was born in Waterville, New York. According to
the article, George Eastman , published online by Who Made America, Eastman was
raised by his mother Maria. He lost both his father and his sister at a young age. At

Finding Meaning In Heideggerian Nothingelf Nihilates
Finding Meaning in Heideggerian Nothingness One of the most obscure, and on the
surface meaningless, quotes attributed to Heidegger is, the nothing itself nihilates
(Heidegger 103). This quote from What is Metaphysics? In the book Basic Writings,
seems confusing and contradictory until understood within the context of Heidegger
s nothing as a noun Nothing and not a verb. This perplexity over the meaning of the
nothing itself nihilates was famously critiqued by Rudolf Carnap in his book The
Elimination of MetaphysicsThrough Logical Analysis of Language, as an example of
meaningless metaphysics (Carnap 69). In the critique, Carnap actually quotes
Heidegger as saying the following:
What is to be investigated is being only and nothing ... Show more content on

Under what conditions is the word supposed to be true, and under what condi tions
false?
3. How is the word to be verified?
4. What is the meaning of the word? (Carnap 62).
Understanding the intent of these questions is the process in which we can
determine the meaning of the word. So, Carnap seems to say that the exact
meaning of any given word in a language is fixed. If a word is not fixed, in that it
does not fulfill the requirement of the above four questions, then that word is
meaningless (Carnap 63). In essence, Carnap understands Heidegger as violating the
rules by using the nothing as a noun instead of it supposed exact place in the
sentence as a verb. This entire objection from Carnap seems kind of silly when it
sounds like the exact problems with understanding that Heidegger points out when
writes:
Since it remains wholly impossible for us to make nothing into an object, have we
not already come to an end of our inquiry into the nothing assuming that in this
question logic is of supreme importance, that the intellect is the means, and thought
the way, to conceive the nothing originally and to decide about its possible
exposure? But are we allowed to tamper with the rule of logic ? (Heidegger
Active Risk Taking
In the United states, three out of ten teenagers are pregnant by the age of 20. Of
these, over fifty percent of teen mothers will never earn their high school diploma. A
teenager is constantly exposed to peer pressure that drives them to make the risky
decisions that can result in pregnancy. From there, they are faced with a series of
harsh decisions and situations. They are discriminated by their closest friends, and
the adults in the community often looks down on these unfortunate teenagers due
their past choices. The discrimination placed against these teenagers drives them to
extinguish their problems through abortion; however, they do not understand the full
gravity of that choice. Our plan is to significantly lower teen pregnancyrates... Show

We need to educate teenagers on the danger of negative peer pressure. We need to
expand the theme in schools, spanning from elementary to high school, that peers do
not control what others do. That adolescents should not follow their peers into
something that they do not believe is right. The awareness of negative peer pressure
in school could significantly decrease the amount of negative peer pressure in the
adolescent society.
Discrimination
Discrimination is the practice of unfairly treating a person or a group of people. The
current policy, abstinence only sex education programs, rely on fear and shame meant
to belittle sexual activity outside of marriage. These programs are no longer working,
yet the government has spent over $15 billion during the past three decades to
continue funding these programs. A form of discrimination in relationships can be
caused by pregnancy, race, and sexual harassment.
According to a 2008 study about 60% of teen girls preceded their first pregnancy
with experiences of rape, molestation or attempts of these thing.
Native americans are victims of rape and sexual assault twice more than other racial

Cancer surgeries (oncological procedures)
Is treating cancer laparoscopically possible?
In the past there had been concern raised about the safety of laparoscopic surgery for
cancer surgeries. Several studies in recent years have been conducted involving
hundreds of patients and have shown that laparoscopic surgery is completely safe
option for cancer surgeries, besides having the advantages over conventional
surgeries.
How safe is laparoscopic surgery?
Laparoscopic Surgery and traditional open surgery are both equally same as far as
safety is concerned.
What are the risks of laparoscopic surgery?
Laparoscopy is a relatively safe procedure. Although the risks are very rare, there is
always some risk with any procedure. There are some risks when you have general
anesthesia. There is chance of infection or bleeding. The abdominal organs,
intestines, or blood vessels may be damaged if surgeon is not experienced.

Analysis Of The Moor s Last Sigh And Shalimar The Clown
Rushdie has explored many themes and issues in his writing cosmos within the
postcolonial perspective in relationship with language, history, politics, identity,
migration, and globalization. The present paper is focused on his two famous novels
The Moor s Last Sigh and Shalimar the Clown that had taken a reversion from the
other works that are based on western countries and characters. He is traversing back
from routes to roots, envisioning the Indian subcontinentwithin his critiques. Rushdie
encompasses through the geographical, political, and cultural limits in the course of
his written works, just to come back to explore his subcontinent. In both these books
the Indian nation expects a key topical core interest with a major focus on serious
issues like historical backdrop of Indialoaded with turbulence in the present
circumstances, and the issue of Kashmir has given a priority that has got mutilated
between India and Pakistan since independence. The experience of distance inside the
third world connection is pondered upon after the postcolonial era of the
subcontinent. Rushdie investigates the historical backdrop of India full with
turbulence in the most recent century in The Moor s Last Sigh, while it is the issue
of Kashmir that expects priority in Shalimar the Clown.
Key Words: Rushdie, Routes, Roots, Geography, Turbulence, Politics, India, Pakistan,
Kashmir.
Both novels are traversing from western thoughts to the author s own subcontinent
that has become the victim of too many impunities and turbulences. The experience
of the third world alienation has become the source to deliberate upon. The Moor s
Last Sigh explores the real historical figures and events including the surrender of
Granada by Boabdil, the demolition of the Babri Masjid, the 1993 Bombay riots, the
gangster and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, as well as the modern Indian political
organizations like Bal Thackeray and the Shiv Sena in Indian Political history. It
traces four generations of the narrator s family and the ultimate effects upon the
narrator, Moraes Zogoiby. Also, the novel reflects upon its own moment of
production as part of our engagement with a palimpsestic or multilayered reading of
the novel. While as Shalimar the
Mystery Of The Mary Celeste
Mystery of The Mary Celeste
What Happened to Her Crew The Mystery of the Mary Celeste has been talked
about for centuries. Historical scholars have debated the events that lead to her
crews mysterious disappearance. Many books both non fiction and fiction have been
written about her. Did an explosion caused by her precious cargo cause her crew to
abandon ship? Was there a violent sea quake that made her immobile? Maybe the
captain thought her hull was filling with water and sinking after days of violent
weather? Looking at each theory gives clues as to what really happened to the Mary
Celeste. The Mary Celeste began its fateful journey on November 7, 1872, with her

The explosion theory; although far fetched, seems to be one very realistic cause of
The Celeste s abandonment. The main purpose of the Celeste s voyage was to deliver
1701 barrels of alcohol to Genoa, which was used to fortify wine. Lee explains in his
article for the ULC News that:
It seemed highly possible that the leaking alcohol caught light, sending Captain
Briggs into a panic and prompting the dreaded cry: Abandon ship! It was a
plausible explanation but has always been discounted because there was no sign of
fire, or explosion. A blast of sufficient magnitude to persuade an experienced
captain to take the last resort of abandoning ship would surely have left at least a
few scorch marks on the wooden barrels, or in the hold (1). New scientific
techniques have been used to solve the great mystery. An experiment, conducted
by a scientist at UCL for a Channel 5, shows that an explosion may indeed be the
key to the fate of the brigantine and her crew (1). The experiment was conducted
by a chemist from The University of Los Angeles, California. Dr. Andrea Sella
[UCL Chemistry] built a replica of the hold of the Mary Celeste. Using butane gas,
he simulated an explosion that would have been caused by the leaking alcohol in the
hull of the Mary Celeste.
He did not use wood barrels, instead he used cubes of paper. A huge blast was caused
after he set light to the gas; which sent a ball of flame upwards (1).
Reformer Influence On John Calvinism
Calvinism is a movement within orthodox Protestantism associated with the
Reformer John Calvin that emphasizes the rule of God over all things. The concept
of Calvinism began not with John Calvin (as it is commonly mistaken) but rather
with a Reformer in Switzerland named Ulrich/Huldrych Zwingli. Zurich was well
known for urging the reformation of the Catholic Church, criticising the use of
images in worship and generally attempting to spread the Reformation. Some parts of
the country conformed to the change but others resisted, staunchly remaining
Catholic. This resulted in a theocratic division within the nation. During this time of
tense stand off, Zwingli met Martin Luther, known as the father of the Lutheran
denomination. They agreed on

It is also saying that samurai voluntarily committed seppuku because they thought

1776 David Mccullough Sparknotes
The book 1776 by David McCullough tells the story of the military aspects of the
American Revolution. McCullough writes the book from both the British and
American point of views, creating a better understanding of what both sides were
undergoing during the war.
Not only does he have a degree from Yale, but McCullough has also been awarded
with the nations highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In
addition to this, he has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize twice. He has also written
multiple other non fiction historical books and biographies such as Truman, The
Great Bridge and John Adams. Further, McCullough has lectured in all parts of the
country including the White House and Congress.

A major battle in the book 1776, and an important turning point of the year, was the
Battle of Trenton. After crossing the Delaware River, the Continental Armyopened
fire on the surprised Hessian troops that were stationed there. After a 45 minute battle,
the Hessians surrendered, giving the Americans a much needed victory. McCullough
shows the importance of this battle by describing multiple American victories that
followed, such as the Battles of Princeton and Fort Lee.
Through vivid descriptions of George Washington, I learned that he was not the best
military leader. There were multiple times in the war where Washington was faced
with difficult decisions, and proved to be very indecisive. Also, there were times
where action needed to be taken, but he couldn t decide what to do. Even though I
learned Washington wasn t as great as the history books explain him to be, it makes
me respect him more to know that he, just like any other American, flawed.
One thing in the story that shocked me is how different our perception of the
Revolutionary War is from the reality. An example of this was how ill trained the
American army was at the beginning of the war. The army was undisciplined,
disobedient, and motivated only by their paychecks. Many perceive the soldiers as
valiant, zealous men, but it wasn t until much later in the war that the soldiers rose to
the occasion and became the warriors that we remember today.
Another thing that impressed me was

No Chance Against Society Essay
No Chance Against Society
Throughout this world of unique individuals, the majority of human beings have
generally conformed into different societal norms that follow one path and one dream
without stopping to think of an alternative path. Complications step in front of
individual prosperity and these obstacles spring from the pressures of the popular
society. Within the short story, A Hunger Artist, by Franz Kafka, the author proves
and disproves a point best stated by Robin George Collinwood, that; Perfect
freedom is reserved for the man who lives by his own work and in that work, does
what he wants to do. The protagonist, within this short story, freely chooses his career
path as a hunger artist, but as the story continues, the ... Show more content on

In the artist s quest for superiority, he uses his suffering to produce a feeling more
intense and emotional than his audience. Eventually, the audience loses interest in
the hunger artist and is able to easily glimpse at the anguish and happily move past it.
This combination of dependency, need for support, and feeling of superiority
signifies the hunger artist s endless dissatisfaction with himself. The society
subconsciously pushes the hunger artist into a vicious cycle of suffrage as he
continues to do what he claims to love, ultimately resulting in societal dominance.
The hunger artist, at best, is in complete control over is pain and hunger as he
exercises his free will to do what he chooses. Throughout the story, the hunger artist
proves time and time again to be a living contradiction. At one point, the artist
admits that fasting is easy, but at the end he confesses that he was simply never
able to find any food he liked; For he alone knew....how easy it was to fast, But you
shouldn t admire it...because I couldn t find the food I liked (Kafka). The hunger
artist is constantly alienated from the world and is never accepted by society.
Metaphorically speaking, the act of fasting represents suffrage and an abused free
will. Had the world been more compliant to this unique profession, the hunger artist
would not have suffered and good could have sparked from all this. As the society
moves in one direction, the one that chooses to take the path less

INTRODUCTION
EDMUND SPENCER
Edmund Spenser was an English writer best known for The Faerie Queene, an epic
ballad and fantastical moral story commending the Tudor tradition and Elizabeth I.
He is perceived as one of the head experts of Modern English verse in its earliest
stages, and one of the best artists in the English dialect.
Edmund Spenser was conceived in East Smithfield, London around the year 1552
however there is some vagueness as to the careful date of his introduction to the
world. As a young person, he was taught in London at the Merchant Taylors School
and registered as a sizar at Pembroke College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge he
turned into a companion of Gabriel Harvey, and later counseled him, in spite of their
varying perspectives on verse.
In July 1580 Spenser went to Ireland, in the administration of the recently selected
Lord Deputy, Arthur Gray, fourteenth Baron Gray de Wilton. At that point he
presented with the English strengths amid the Second Desmond Rebellion. After the
annihilation of the local Irish he took arrives in County Cork that had been
reallocated in the Munster Plantation amid the Elizabethan victory of Ireland. Among
his acquaintances in the region was Walter Raleigh, a kindred pioneer.
Through his verse Spenser would have liked to secure a spot at court, which he went
by in Raleigh s organization to convey his most popular work, The Faerie Queene. On
the other hand, he strikingly alienated the monarch s central secretary,
Hollywood Music Research Paper
It is common belief that music was first incorporated into films in the early 1900 s,
to help drown out the noises the projector made during viewing. In the early days,
this musical coverage was provided by an in house musician; then it later evolved
into entire orchestras. In both accompaniments, the musician or musicians would be
provided with cue sheets that served as a story map or guide to played along with
the filmwhile it was being shown. In almost all instances, the music consisted of
recognizable pieces by famous composers. As the technology of projectors and
filming equipment advanced, the need for this musical distraction dwindled.
However, this sparked the artistry of film scoring and original movie music

proposal or claim. For the case of a written argument, the writer responds to the
content of the essay through a critique process. The responses should not only
involve restating the same claims and reasons but rather providing supportive pieces
of evidence to the positions taken accordingly. Secondly, the aim of an argument is to
make the audience adhere to the written critique. The objective is to influence the
audience with the aim of gaining support to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The essay starts with a very simple definition of a family, accompanied by an
explanation of the relationship between family structure and the strength of the link
between different people forming the family in question. The introduction has been
put in a simple language to provide a fluid understanding of what the reader should
expect throughout the text. Literal tools like proverbs and similes have been
applied. There is a clear language connection of cultural legacy and a family unit
where the authors explain that legacy in the society does not determine how
different ethnicities connect with the family unit. Gertsel and Sarkasian believe
that deliberations made on family responsibilities tend to pay more attention to
nuclear family as opposed to the general family unit. The language used here
implies that the general meaning of extended family unit is ignored or in some
cases misrepresented. The tone of an essay refers to the writer s choice of language
and words to express his/her attitude towards the story. In the story The Color of
family ties, the selection of words right from the beginning represents a mixture of
serious and sarcastic tones. The statements like minority individuals are more likely
to live in extended family homes.... (45) creates a serious tone while others like the
role of commentators in resolving family differences present a sarcastic
Catecholamines Lab Report
The oxidation of catecholamines can be monitored using various different techniques.
Figure 4 shows typical kinetic UV Vis profiles for the interaction between Cu2+
(final concentration 0.03mM), EPI (final concentration 0.5mM) and CS C (final
concentration 2.5mg/mL) at RT. The result shows faster reaction in the presence of
CS C and Cu2+. As observed in earlier work performed in the lab, polysaccharides
can enhance the chemical reaction between catecholamines and cations like Cu2+.

3.3.2 Studies involving Fe(III)
The effect of the Fe3+ on the oxidation of EPI in the presence of different POLs
was briefly studied using RP HPLC. The graph below shows the amount of EPI
remaining after overnight reaction at RT between 0.5mM EPI, 0.05mM Fe3+ and
6.5mg/mL CS A, 2.5mg/mL ALG or 2 mg/mL CARRA. Figure 14 :
The results indicate that under the conditions thus tested, Fe3+ appeared to have a
minimal effect on the oxidation of EPI.
3.4 Large scale reactions with purification and analysis of pigments
Large scale experiments involving the oxidation of DOP in the presence of
various POLs or other compounds were set up. DOP (about 30mg) was dissolved
in 10mL water and about 100mg test compound or POL was added as a powder to
dissolve in the mixture inside the wells of a cell culture dish. The polysaccharides
use in this experiments were FUCO, chitosan (CHITO), CARRA, XYL, CMC,
GUM, CS A, HA, PEC, DEX, DEX_S and CS C. Other substances tested in this
experiment were sodium acetate (NaOAc), sodium glucuronate (NaGlcA) and L
ascorbic acid (L ASC). No cations were added to these mixtures. Figures 15, 16 and

Question and Hypothesis:
Topic: Getting taller from other than DNA and genes
The question formulated for this study was, Can you get taller from other than DNA
and genes? Before research, a hypothesis was made, stating, Yes, it is possible to get
taller from other than DNA and genes. In order to conduct a valid conclusion for this
question, extensive research was executed.
Procedure and Research
To create that hypothesis 4 main research topics were analyzed: Physics of growing,
history of what people did to get taller, the groups of people that would be interested,
and everyday life factors that change your height.
Physics of Growing
Physics of growing start from the growth hormones, as they are the thing that tells
your body to grow. First the GRH travels through the hypophyseal towards the
anterior pituitary gland, (growth releasing hormone) this causes the GH (growth
hormone) to be released from the pituitary gland into the blood. Then the liver is
stimulated by the GH and creates insulin like, a protein that helps multiply cartilage
cells beneath bones, which makes you grow. Other than GH, genes and DNA is the
base on choosing if you are going to be tall or not. However, children who are tall,

First, in the nutrition category, supplements, protein, and minerals are all major
factors for a tall person. The most crucial supplements for growth is Calcium, Zinc,
Magnesium, and Chromium. By using these supplements you will grow taller, Japan
for an example, changed the general Japanese height by 3cm. For protein, eat lots of
lean and white meat, if you are a vegetarian there are many other alternatives to meat.
Minerals that factor in height gain are Calcium, Fluoride, Phosphorus and Boron, and
Chromium. Also, drinking lots of water helps since it lets blood carry the nutrition

The reading begins with two researchers Aserinsky and Dement, researching into why
humans need sleep. Then, it begins to talk about another two researchers, Allan
Hobson and Robert McCarley. They both came up with a new theory about dreaming,
which was in essence, was that dreams are nothing more than your attempt to
interpret random electrical impulses produced automatically in your brain during
REM sleep. (Hock 2013). Basically what they were saying is that while we sleep, a
part of our brain produces electrical charges in the brain stem. While we sleep most
other parts of the brain are inactive, but the brain stem isn t. Hobson and

A STUDY ON TRAFFIC RULES VIOLATIONS IN CHENNAI
(VANDALUR AND PERANGALUTUR)
Submitted By:
Praveen Kumar A, MBA.
INTRODUCTION Violations in traffic laws are very common in a highly populated
country like India. The conditions are even worse in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai
Bangalore and Chennai. The accidents associated with these violations cause a huge
loss to life and property.
Same is the case in Chennai. Being a metro city and a highly populated one also, has
a lot of road accidents every year. Despite this the violations in traffic laws do not
reduce. A lot of people disobey the rules every day sometimes willingly and
sometimes because they are forced to do so because of others.
The major traffic laws in India ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it has a vast population which causes a lot of traffic on the roads. Knowing
these factors help us to collect more accurate data because it enables us to compare
between different situations and make a better analysis. These factors can be
identified as:
Overcrowded roads because of a large population, Maximum traffic is observed
during office hours i.e. between 8.00 10.00AM and 5.00 8.00PM. Therefore the
maximum violations are also done during these peak hours. Are report includes
study during both peak as well as non peak hours. One another important factor is
that since most of the offices are in the areas like Vandalur and Perangalatur, the
maximum traffic is observed in these areas. So these areas experience maximum
breaking of traffic laws.
The violations mentioned in the report are:
Overloading of vehicles it is very common in the case of two wheelers.
Not wearing helmets or seat belts is also a major rule which is not followed and is
the cause of many deaths and serious injuries.
Drunken driving and speeding beyond a mentioned limit.
Driving in the wrong direction is one of the key violations.
Not obeying the traffic signals is observed mainly during the peak hours of traffic as
everyone is in a rush to reach early.
Thus, these are the basis on which the report is based.

Abstract
Court appointed attorneys constantly face ethical and moral conflicts in their position
of authority The toughest calls could be considered those that challenge professional
ethics and personal ethics. When attorneys accept to the duty to represent a client,
they have an ethical duty to protect confidential information obtained through
attorney client meetings. However, how do attorneys respond when an accused
murderer admits to a crime that has previously been committed and is currently
being investigated? Can an attorney break the attorney client privilege bind or
should they continue to represent a client they know is guilty? Can justice, if at all
possible, be discovered from either ethical dilemma? This paper will not only
answer these questions but it will also discuss the legality of client confidentiality.
The 1973 Buried Bodies case will be used to explain and analyze the legal bind
attorneys must uphold as well as how ethics, both

Discussion of Research Topic:
For this final paper I will be writing about phantom limb. Phantom limb is the
sensation or pain which a person feels after he/she has an amputated or missing limb.
They feel that their limb is still attached to the body. Majority of the sensation feel by
these people are painful. They often experience burning, crushing, stabbing, itching,
or cramping sensation where the amputated limb used to be.
Brain is a very complex organ. Brain maps out the body so it receives and sends
signal according to the map. If for some reason a person losses a body part then it
affects the brain to misinterpret the information. Due to the loss of a body ... Show

Summary of the First Research Paper:
The first article named Phantom Limb Syndrome has defined the phantom limb
syndrome as the perception of the sensations on the amputated limb. In the article it
was mentioned that the brain still receive messages from removed limb through the
nerves. This article has also mentioned that the exact cause of the syndrome is
unknown. In the article it was mentioned that sensations are due to the brain s attempt
to reorganize sensory information following the amputation. The brain must
essentially rewire itself to adjust to the changes in the body (Scheinberg, 2015). The
article points out that the adult are more likely to suffer from phantom limb
syndrome than children. The article also mentioned that there are various risk factors
which increase the risk of developing the phantom limb syndrome can be the pre
amputation pain, infection, damage on the spinal cord or nerves that supplied to the
affected limb, blood clot on the amputated limb, etc.
The first article named Phantom Limb Syndrome goes more into details describing
some symptoms that may occur on the amputees. The amputated limb can make them
feel the sensation of stabbing, shooting, burning or piercing. They can also feel
numbness, tickling or cramping. That is not all; the amputated limb can also make a
person feel pleasure. There can be treatment for the phantom limb syndrome. After
amputation it is very necessary to tell the doctor if there is any sensation or pain
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Liposomes
Liposomes
Liposomes are artificial vesicles with lipid bilayer which are made of phospholipids
and cholesterol. Liposomes have certain limitations like tendency to be taken up by
the RES system, in the body. When given orally they increases the absorption, clinical
potency, and decreases the toxicity of the drug. As they also resembles nanoemulsions
in transparency, fluid like consistency, they are also good for cosmetic preparations.
Every new approach in the targeted therapy of rheumatoid arthritis could contribute to
the effectiveness in treating the chronic disease.
Advantages of Lipids Lipids are a class of materials which includes fatty acids,
glycerides, phospholipids, sphingolipids, waxes and sterols etc. They may be poorly
soluble in water, but have other characteristic properties like hydrophilic and
hydrophobic portions which can be identified by their fatty acid composition, melting
point, HLB value, and their solubility in solvents like Glycerine and other organic
solvents. Vegetable oils and primarily used in the preparation of different types of

They also provide a favourable hydrophobic environment to delay the drug release.
This characteristic property has been extensively used in the development of
sustained release dosage forms like beads, tablets, suspensions, implants. Their
hydrophobic properties can also be used for masking the unpalatable taste of certain
drugs by hot melt coating. Lipids also offer advantages for preparation of drugs with
low melting point or poor compression properties. Development of Lipid based drug

The Sapphires By Wayne Blair Essay
The Sapphires by Wayne Blair was the trigger that led my research into the effects
of the Stolen Generation on Aboriginals in Australia. This film is about an
Aboriginal singing group who want to make a name for themselves, but find it
difficult because of the racism against them. This film also tells the stories of their
cousin Kay, who was a half caste and was stolen from her Aboriginal family at a
young age to be taught the ways of white people, and forget her culture. This film
made me realise that I am lucky to live in a country where racism of such an extent
in which children are stolen from their indigenous families, isn t part of our
history, and has not affected me personally. From my research, I have found six
main sources that have helped me to understand how large this problem was and
continues to be. My sources: The Sapphires by Wayne Blair; a film about a group
of Aboriginal singers who are affected by racism which is based on a real life
singing group; The Sorry Speech , by Kevin Rudd who was the Prime Minister of
Australia in 2008 who explains the damage and apologises for the way that the
actions of past governments tore apart the lives of their indigenous people. Then
there is Blind Eye, the documentary in which people who were stolen are
interviewed and tell their stories. The film, Rabbit Proof Fence this tells the story of
two girls who were stolen and gives us insight into how brutally that they were
treated after being ripped apart from
Indian Bpos- Waking Up the Philippines Opportunity
Indian BPOs Waking up the Philippines Opportunity
Analysis
The Indian labor market has always been key in globalization, and has been
attractive due to its low wages, and the scientific and managerial talent found in the
country. The main issues faced in this case mostly stem from the loss of the tax
abatement in India, in addition to the weakening US dollar. Due to these two issues,
doing business in India versus other fruitful options like Philippines becomes very
expensive. These are major challenges to combat for any firm looking to outsource in
India. In India, the infrastructure along with the setback discussed around
transportation, puts a strain on the bottom line. The Tax abatement ending in 2009
was the initial cause of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(p. 33). This increase in the cost of BPO outsourcing to India immediately made
other locations, such as the Philippines, much more of an attractive destinations for
outsourcing. (Deresky, 2011). Pramod Bhasin, CEO of Genpact said it best The
amount of additional I have to bear to do business in India is massive. In the
Philippines, I don t have to spend a dime on transporting employees, a luxury I
cannot afford in India . Bhasin implied that companies like his would immediately
start to look elsewhere to do business due to rising costs. The Philippines emerging
as the most preferred destination for voice based BPO. destination is a wake up call
for the larger Indian BPO sector, says Mr V. K. Mathews, Executive Chairman, IBS
Group (The Hindu Business Line 2005).
4) How does this case highlight the threats and opportunities facing global companies
in developing their strategies? Trends in the marketplace can help determine areas a
firm can explore to be successful. Use of carefully considered outsourcing can be a
critical component of corporate strategy for any multinational corporation. With
outsourcing opportunities in front of them, these corporations should first work to
understand the demographics and capabilities of the workforce before making any
moves. Companies shouldn t simply resort to outsourcing and assume it would
automatically translate to lower costs. It is important to study labor supply and
demand, in order to

Macbeth Research Paper When studying literature or reading a play, our attention is
drawn to the protagonist or antagonist. Shakespeare directs our attention onto
heroism, which can be seen across all of his plays like Macbeth or Julius Caesar. The
protagonists Macbeth and Banquo conquer the evils that face them throughout the
plot. However, the nature of violence that takes place throughout Shakespeare s
plays is in relation to the source of the killing of the soul (Macbeth and the Nature
of Evil). In Macbeth, Macbeth is known as a superhuman warrior, the characteristics
of being brave and having ambition. The main reason evil stirs up violence can be
seen as examples in Macbeth and Julius Caesar, which is caused by evil being
incompatible with humanity (Shakespeare s Play Themes). The murders in
Macbeth and Julius Caesar are both examples of the rotation of the natural order.
The killing of King Duncan in Macbeth is a prime example how evil and violence
is shown into a comparison into Julius Caesar. Shakespeare uses a common theme
in all plays that all relates back to reality (The Killing of King Duncan).
Shakespeare also uses the literary device of repetition to create a theme (The
Killing of King Duncan). In Macbeth the word blood is repeated due to creating the
theme and the word blood allows the readers to remember that evil is a result to
violence and anger. Blood is also

Nelson Mandela s Leadership Qualities
Introduction
Nelson Mandela (Mandela) is a figurehead for the equality of people not only in
South Africa, but also around the globe. Mandela has played many important roles
throughout his life and although initially leading by being a pacifist, he has changed
roles over time to lead as a revolutionary, a prisoner and a president. Many prominent
leaders throughout time have established routes in time by effectively changing
perceptions and Mandela is one of these leaders.
This paper examines the journey in which Mandela embarked and will identify
Mandela s leadership qualities and styles throughout his journey to becoming
President of South Africa. Although Mandela exhibits many different leadership
qualities, one can make a statement that Mandela is a transformative leader, in that
he exhibits various characteristics of six distinct leadership perspectives. Mandela
can be seen as any particular type of these six leadership perspectives, but this paper
will analyze the extent of these leadership qualities and how they have impacted the
life of Mandela and the world.
For the purpose of this paper, the distinct variance of whether Mandela was a
freedom fighter or a terrorist will not be examined, but may make for an interesting
distinction. This paper will ultimately determine Mandela s leadership qualities and
styles to conclude whether Mandela can be seen as a prominent and effective leader.

Beechwood Spout Term Sheet
Question 2: Beechwood Spouts Term Sheet Analysis
1) Security: Series E Convertible Preferred Stock
In an entrepreneur s point of view, the investor will gain an advantage of acquiring
preferred stock, unlike the entrepreneur who holds common stock. Since Preferred
stock is senior to common stock (but subordinate to bonds) in terms of claim of the
assets of the company in an event of liquidation. Also, although preferred stock
usually carries no voting rights, but it may carry a dividend and may have priority
over common stock in the payment of dividends.
Moreover, since it is convertible preferred stock, it allows the investor to exchange

The dividend on series E preferred stock will be accumulated annually at 10% rate
and the shareholder will acquire it prior to common stockholders. This will guarantee
the return on investment to preferred stockholder that he will receive 10% return
every year (even it is not paid; it will accumulated to the following years). In
contrast, this means the entrepreneur has to give away 10% benefit every year.
5) Subsequent Company Stock Sales
According to the stated condition, the investor will gain the benefit as the same as
Series A, C preferred stockholder and common stockholder to buy sufficient shares to
preserve the ownership share.
6) Liquidation Preference
Series A, C and E preferred stockholders will receive the price per share plus 10%
interest compound annually before the distribution to common stockholders. Thus,
the entrepreneur is at disadvantage because he has to pay the accumulated dividend
to the preferred stockholder.
7) Merger or Sale
A merger or sale of the company will apply the same formula as the liquidation
distribution. Thus, the entrepreneur has to pay the accumulated dividend and is
inferior to the preferred stockholder.
8) Redemption
The entrepreneur is unfavorable if the company loses on or after five years from the
closing date because the entrepreneur is committed to repurchase the preferred stock
at the purchase price per share plus accrued

Inferiority Complex In Adler
Adler came up with the theory Inferiority Complex in 1907/1917. This train of
thought would have been a very abstract way of thinking of personality as it was so
very different from the main voice on the matter at the time, that voice being Freud.
This theory mainly explained that everyone feels inferior some of the time
throughout their lives however; others may focus too much on their inferiorities and
therefore develop what Adler called an Inferiority Complexabout ourselves.
(Hergenhahn, 2013.pg.522). We then spend too much time thinking about our
inferiority therefore becoming defensive and untrusting towards other individuals.

great deal about the behaviour one displays and their personality. In reference to
the Universal movie Thor (2011), the character of Loki exhibits the main
characteristics of the youngest child. He is manipulative towards his parents and
older brother in order to get what he wants. (www.Marvel.com)Youngest children
like to push boundaries to see what they can get away with, but at the same time
they have a need for praise in the things that they do. They are in constant
competition to be the same or better than their older siblings almost to say that they
are just as able and worthy of the independence given to the older child. Robert
Lundin (1998) stated that youngest children strive to excel and to surpass the older
ones to become the conquering hero . (Lundin, 1998) Pg. 65) Adler suggested that
the order that one comes in the family can have an impact on their personality
because of their realisation of an inferiority that has come to light in their mind which
in turn can lead to neurosis. (Adler, 1927 as cited in Maltby, 2010). Pg.
Archie Equation Petrophysics
INTRODUCTION
Archie Unleashed is an attempt to put the basic log analysis methodology for
computing water saturation into a readable reference document. The beginning log
analyst or petrophysicist should have little difficulty with the terms and concepts
utilized in this paper, however, most terms are redefined in appendix A.
The basic outline of this document closely follows a previous work written for the
casual interpeter in log analysis. Archie Unleashed is meant to carry that work one
step further. Basic concepts are explained along with more detailed examples and
explanations.
The personal computer has revolutionized the way we work and play. The kind and
amount of data we work with in petrophysics can be easily handled in ... Show more

Mark intervals selected for quantitative analysis on this log. Depth. correlate the other
surveys to this reference log or the Gamma ray curve from this log.
4.Select intervals with at least four feet of constant response whenever possible. Use
a single representative value from the center of the zone for each porosity and
resistivity measurement. This procedure minimizes thin bed and bed boundary
effects on the logs.
5.Consider how to keep the interpretation simple. Analyse the most clear cut cases
first. Look for: The obvious mineral markers (salt, anhydrite). The cleanest, most
porous, intervals. The cleanest, water bearing, intervals. The cleanest, hydrocarbon
bearing, intervals. The fluid contacts: gas/oil, oil/water. The transition zones.
6.Tackle one unknown at a time. For example, when deriving an Rw value from
logs, choose a water bearing zone as nearly identical as possible to the hydrocarbon
zone of interest. This means the two zones have the same lithology, have the same or
very similar porosity values, have the same type of pore structure (do not compare a
zone with moldic porosity to one with granular or fracture porosity for instance), have
the same formation water chemistry, etc. Ideally, the two zones are identical except
for hydrocarbon content.
Bear in mind what G. E. Archie said about his equations. It should be remembered
that the equations given are not precise and represent only approximate relationships.
Rhetoric Tactics
The political spectrum in general, have grasped manipulative rhetoric tactics in
gaining the public s support on both sides of the prominent gun possession issue. As
everyone knows, the media exploits a multitude of strategies and tactics to influence
the community in a specific direction, depending on what opinions they are trying to
press on the people.
Gun control is a hot topic in today s television, with reported shootings and gun
accidents showing up daily in the news and on TV news channels. Conservatives on
FOX News drive the constitutional right to bear arms, while the liberal ideologists
on CNN News press gun control and the prohibition of gun ownership. These two
bias media sources uncover similarities and differences in how

Good Compare And Contrast Essay

  • 1. Good Compare And Contrast Essay Writing a good compare and contrast essay can be a challenging task that requires careful thought, analysis, and organization. The difficulty lies not only in identifying meaningful similarities and differences between the chosen subjects but also in presenting them coherently and persuasively. Crafting a well-balanced essay involves thorough research, critical thinking, and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. One of the key challenges is selecting appropriate subjects for comparison. The topics must be sufficiently similar to draw relevant parallels while also being distinct enough to offer meaningful contrasts. Once the subjects are chosen, the writer must delve into research to gather relevant information and develop a deep understanding of each topic. This research phase can be time-consuming and requires the ability to discern important details from a multitude of sources. The next challenge lies in structuring the essay effectively. A clear and logical organization is crucial to guide the reader through the comparison and contrast process. Developing a strong thesis statement that encapsulates the main argument and highlights the significance of the comparison adds another layer of complexity. Moreover, crafting a compelling introduction and conclusion is essential to engage the reader and leave a lasting impression. The introduction should provide context and establish the purpose of the essay, while the conclusion should synthesize the key points and leave the reader with a thoughtful takeaway. Additionally, maintaining a balanced tone and avoiding bias is crucial in a compare and contrast essay. It requires presenting both sides fairly and objectively, without favoring one subject over the other. Achieving this equilibrium while still expressing a clear stance on the comparison demands a refined writing style and careful language choice. In conclusion, writing a good compare and contrast essay involves overcoming several challenges, from selecting suitable subjects to presenting a well-organized and persuasive argument. The process requires time, effort, and a strong grasp of both the subjects being compared. However, with diligence and attention to detail, it is possible to create an essay that effectively explores the similarities and differences between two topics. For assistance with similar essays and more, you may consider exploring services like HelpWriting.net, where professionals can provide support in crafting well-researched and well- written essays tailored to your specific requirements. • 2. Who Was Responsible For The Origins Of The Cold War 1.1 Historiography behind the origins of the Cold War The Cold War was a period of tension and suspicion between the USA and USSR that lasted from 1945 49 (Kent, 2004, pp. 51 57). This conflict had numerous causes, even if the USA and USSR were allies during 1941 45, fighting against Nazi Germany and Japan. (McAleavy, 2002, pp. 94 96) Various factors contributed to the break up of this wartime alliance; US policies, Soviet actions, and other factors such as the Russian Revolution of 1917, all crated a climate of tension and distrust, which destroyed the links between the two superpowers, leading to the Cold War. (Winkler, 2003, pp. 11 13) There are three theories about the origins of the Cold War. The orthodox or traditionalist interpretation, which suggests that the responsibility for the Cold War was Soviet, and that the US was just forced to act against Soviet aggression. The revisionist theory suggests that the responsible for the war were the US and that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides, previously independent nations such as Poland and Czechoslovakia were now communist. Moreover, the USSR was much more stronger due to the increase in its empire, which lead to more population, therefore more resources, and so a greater industrial base. In this way, it presented more of a threat to the USA since the USSR was becoming much powerful than it was before the outbreak of the Second World War, and although the USSR had helped the USA against Japan, these Soviet actions led to tension and suspicion between the two nations. Therefore, the soviet actions in Europe increased the tensions between them, leading to the break up of the wartime alliance, and so creating the necessary conditions for the Cold
  • 3. Studying Chemical Engineering At Mcgill University There are numerous ways to teach a new subject to someone, some strategies work better than others depending on the discipline. Now, I am concluding my final semester of Honours Health Science and will be going to study Chemical engineering at McGill University. Though I do not see myself being a teacher in the near future, I hope that I can continue to tutor people in science based classes and perhaps one day teach the subject after getting the appropriate degree needed to be a teacher in Higher Education. I hope that one day, I can be a Chemistry teacher at either the CEGEP level, or at the University level. I am choosing this particular discipline, since I am familiar very comfortable with the subject, and because of how Chemistry is everywhere; it s in the foods we eat, everything we touch, and everything we see. Along with that, every science student at CEGEP level must complete at least 2 Chemistry courses before graduating, and 3 for those in the Health Sciences. Based on what I have seen at College level, certain teaching strategies are better suited than others depending on the course being taught, and also based on the amount of free time a student has that can be invested in a class. The best suited educational philosophies for teaching Chemistry would have to be Realism and Pragmatism. Realism is very well suited to studying the subject, because of how students learn through studying what goes on in reality (not just in theory) and due to how the philosophy is
  • 4. Essay On Edwards-Trinity Aquifer The Edwards Trinity Aquifer is one of Texas major aquifers, located in west central Texas and spanning near 42,000 square miles as shown in figure 1 (Barker and Ardis 1996, 2). The aquifer encompasses 36 counties including major counties such as Crockett, Edwards and Val Verde as shown in figure 2 (Hopkins 1995, 2). The population is relatively sparse, with most of the population located in small cities Anaya 2001, 100). It is divided into four subareas based on the topography of each area, Edwards plateau, Trans Pecos, Hill Country and Balcones fault zone (Barker and Ardis 1996, 5). Edwards plateau has two types of terrain, the interior of the plateau is fairly flat with a gradual slope, and the outer portions are more rugged with canyons... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The minor aquifers are Dockum, the Capitan, the Rustler, the Hickory, the Ellenburger San Saba, the Lipan and to a small amount Marble Falls (Anaya 2001, 113). The aquifer is mostly unconfined but is semi confined in parts of the Trinity (Anaya 2001, 113). The direction of the groundwater flow is controlled by the areas of discharge, which are displayed by the strong influence of the streams form on the potentiometric surface (Barker and Ardis 1996, 35). The predominant direction of the groundwater flow is northwest to southeast, caused the base slope of the aquifer (Barker and Ardis 1996, 35). This flow is also normal to the potentiometric surface as shown in figure 3, except where the aquifer is anisotropic (Barker and Ardis 1996, 37). Most of the recharge that occurs in the Edward Trinity aquifer happens from infiltration of precipitation over the outcrops and the sinkholes (Anaya 2001, 113). The average recharge rate over the eastern part of the plateau is 0.12 to 2.24 inches per year whereas over the Trans Pecos region is 0.3 to 0.4 inches per year (Anaya 2001, 113). In certain areas of the plateau such as Pecos and Reeves counties there is induced recharge being caused from the water level declines due to irrigation pumping (Anaya 2001, 116). Discharge occurs in the southern and eastern portions from cross formational flow

  • 6. Finding Meaning In Heideggerian Nothingelf Nihilates Finding Meaning in Heideggerian Nothingness One of the most obscure, and on the surface meaningless, quotes attributed to Heidegger is, the nothing itself nihilates (Heidegger 103). This quote from What is Metaphysics? In the book Basic Writings, seems confusing and contradictory until understood within the context of Heidegger s nothing as a noun Nothing and not a verb. This perplexity over the meaning of the nothing itself nihilates was famously critiqued by Rudolf Carnap in his book The Elimination of MetaphysicsThrough Logical Analysis of Language, as an example of meaningless metaphysics (Carnap 69). In the critique, Carnap actually quotes Heidegger as saying the following: What is to be investigated is being only and nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under what conditions is the word supposed to be true, and under what condi tions false? 3. How is the word to be verified? 4. What is the meaning of the word? (Carnap 62). Understanding the intent of these questions is the process in which we can determine the meaning of the word. So, Carnap seems to say that the exact meaning of any given word in a language is fixed. If a word is not fixed, in that it does not fulfill the requirement of the above four questions, then that word is meaningless (Carnap 63). In essence, Carnap understands Heidegger as violating the rules by using the nothing as a noun instead of it supposed exact place in the sentence as a verb. This entire objection from Carnap seems kind of silly when it sounds like the exact problems with understanding that Heidegger points out when writes: Since it remains wholly impossible for us to make nothing into an object, have we not already come to an end of our inquiry into the nothing assuming that in this question logic is of supreme importance, that the intellect is the means, and thought the way, to conceive the nothing originally and to decide about its possible exposure? But are we allowed to tamper with the rule of logic ? (Heidegger

A teenager is constantly exposed to peer pressure that drives them to make the risky decisions that can result in pregnancy. From there, they are faced with a series of harsh decisions and situations. They are discriminated by their closest friends, and the adults in the community often looks down on these unfortunate teenagers due their past choices. The discrimination placed against these teenagers drives them to extinguish their problems through abortion; however, they do not understand the full gravity of that choice. We need to expand the theme in schools, spanning from elementary to high school, that peers do not control what others do. That adolescents should not follow their peers into something that they do not believe is right. The awareness of negative peer pressure in school could significantly decrease the amount of negative peer pressure in the adolescent society. Discrimination Discrimination is the practice of unfairly treating a person or a group of people. The current policy, abstinence only sex education programs, rely on fear and shame meant to belittle sexual activity outside of marriage. These programs are no longer working, yet the government has spent over $15 billion during the past three decades to continue funding these programs. Did an explosion caused by her precious cargo cause her crew to abandon ship? Was there a violent sea quake that made her immobile? Maybe the captain thought her hull was filling with water and sinking after days of violent weather? Looking at each theory gives clues as to what really happened to the Mary Celeste. The Mary Celeste began its fateful journey on November 7, 1872, with her Capt. Benjamin Spooner Briggs, his wife, the couple s 2 year old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The explosion theory; although far fetched, seems to be one very realistic cause of The Celeste s abandonment. The main purpose of the Celeste s voyage was to deliver 1701 barrels of alcohol to Genoa, which was used to fortify wine. Lee explains in his article for the ULC News that: It seemed highly possible that the leaking alcohol caught light, sending Captain Briggs into a panic and prompting the dreaded cry: Abandon ship! It was a plausible explanation but has always been discounted because there was no sign of fire, or explosion. A blast of sufficient magnitude to persuade an experienced captain to take the last resort of abandoning ship would surely have left at least a few scorch marks on the wooden barrels, or in the hold (1). New scientific techniques have been used to solve the great mystery. An experiment, conducted by a scientist at UCL for a Channel 5, shows that an explosion may indeed be the key to the fate of the brigantine and her crew (1). The experiment was conducted by a chemist from The University of Los Angeles, California. Dr. Andrea Sella [UCL Chemistry] built a replica of the hold of the Mary Celeste. Using butane gas, he simulated an explosion that would have been caused by the leaking alcohol in the hull of the Mary Celeste. He did not use wood barrels, instead he used cubes of paper. A huge blast was caused after he set light to the gas; which sent a ball of flame upwards (1).
  • 12. Reformer Influence On John Calvinism Calvinism is a movement within orthodox Protestantism associated with the Reformer John Calvin that emphasizes the rule of God over all things. The concept of Calvinism began not with John Calvin (as it is commonly mistaken) but rather with a Reformer in Switzerland named Ulrich/Huldrych Zwingli. Zurich was well known for urging the reformation of the Catholic Church, criticising the use of images in worship and generally attempting to spread the Reformation. Some parts of the country conformed to the change but others resisted, staunchly remaining Catholic. This resulted in a theocratic division within the nation. During this time of tense stand off, Zwingli met Martin Luther, known as the father of the Lutheran denomination. They agreed on

A major battle in the book 1776, and an important turning point of the year, was the Battle of Trenton. After crossing the Delaware River, the Continental Armyopened fire on the surprised Hessian troops that were stationed there. After a 45 minute battle, the Hessians surrendered, giving the Americans a much needed victory. McCullough shows the importance of this battle by describing multiple American victories that followed, such as the Battles of Princeton and Fort Lee. Through vivid descriptions of George Washington, I learned that he was not the best military leader. There were multiple times in the war where Washington was faced with difficult decisions, and proved to be very indecisive. Also, there were times where action needed to be taken, but he couldn t decide what to do. Even though I learned Washington wasn t as great as the history books explain him to be, it makes me respect him more to know that he, just like any other American, flawed. One thing in the story that shocked me is how different our perception of the Revolutionary War is from the reality. An example of this was how ill trained the American army was at the beginning of the war. The army was undisciplined, disobedient, and motivated only by their paychecks. Many perceive the soldiers as valiant, zealous men, but it wasn t until much later in the war that the soldiers rose to the occasion and became the warriors that we remember today. Another thing that impressed me was

The society subconsciously pushes the hunger artist into a vicious cycle of suffrage as he continues to do what he claims to love, ultimately resulting in societal dominance. The hunger artist, at best, is in complete control over is pain and hunger as he exercises his free will to do what he chooses. The main reason evil stirs up violence can be seen as examples in Macbeth and Julius Caesar, which is caused by evil being incompatible with humanity (Shakespeare s Play Themes). The murders in Macbeth and Julius Caesar are both examples of the rotation of the natural order. The killing of King Duncan in Macbeth is a prime example how evil and violence is shown into a comparison into Julius Caesar. Shakespeare uses a common theme in all plays that all relates back to reality (The Killing of King Duncan). Shakespeare also uses the literary device of repetition to create a theme (The Killing of King Duncan). Since Preferred stock is senior to common stock (but subordinate to bonds) in terms of claim of the assets of the company in an event of liquidation. Also, although preferred stock usually carries no voting rights, but it may carry a dividend and may have priority over common stock in the payment of dividends. Moreover, since it is convertible preferred stock, it allows the investor to exchange preferred stock to common stock at a specific price and at the discretion of the shareholder. ... This will guarantee the return on investment to preferred stockholder that he will receive 10% return every year (even it is not paid; it will accumulated to the following years). In contrast, this means the entrepreneur has to give away 10% benefit every year. 5) Subsequent Company Stock Sales According to the stated condition, the investor will gain the benefit as the same as Series A, C preferred stockholder and common stockholder to buy sufficient shares to preserve the ownership share. 6) Liquidation Preference Series A, C and E preferred stockholders will receive the price per share plus 10% interest compound annually before the distribution to common stockholders. Thus, the entrepreneur is at disadvantage because he has to pay the accumulated dividend to the preferred stockholder. 7) Merger or Sale A merger or sale of the company will apply the same formula as the liquidation distribution. Thus, the entrepreneur has to pay the accumulated dividend and is inferior to the preferred stockholder. 8) Redemption The entrepreneur is unfavorable if the company loses on or after five years from the closing date because the entrepreneur is committed to repurchase the preferred stock at the purchase price per share plus accrued

  • 40. Inferiority Complex In Adler Adler came up with the theory Inferiority Complex in 1907/1917. This train of thought would have been a very abstract way of thinking of personality as it was so very different from the main voice on the matter at the time, that voice being Freud. This theory mainly explained that everyone feels inferior some of the time throughout their lives however; others may focus too much on their inferiorities and therefore develop what Adler called an Inferiority Complexabout ourselves. (Hergenhahn, 2013.pg.522). We then spend too much time thinking about our inferiority therefore becoming defensive and untrusting towards other individuals. This concept has a significant effect on the style of life which Adler explains is the attitude in which one takes towards their life. (Maltby, 2010.pg.44). Birth order is a prominent aspect in psychoanalysis that is still relevant today, it helps to explain a great deal about the behaviour one displays and their personality. In reference to the Universal movie Thor (2011), the character of Loki exhibits the main characteristics of the youngest child. He is manipulative towards his parents and older brother in order to get what he wants. (www.Marvel.com)Youngest children like to push boundaries to see what they can get away with, but at the same time they have a need for praise in the things that they do. They are in constant competition to be the same or better than their older siblings almost to say that they are just as able and worthy of the independence given to the older child. Robert Lundin (1998) stated that youngest children strive to excel and to surpass the older ones to become the conquering hero . (Lundin, 1998) Pg. 65) Adler suggested that the order that one comes in the family can have an impact on their personality because of their realisation of an inferiority that has come to light in their mind which in turn can lead to neurosis. Use a single representative value from the center of the zone for each porosity and resistivity measurement. This procedure minimizes thin bed and bed boundary effects on the logs. 5.Consider how to keep the interpretation simple. Analyse the most clear cut cases first. Look for: The obvious mineral markers (salt, anhydrite). The cleanest, most porous, intervals. The cleanest, water bearing, intervals. The cleanest, hydrocarbon bearing, intervals. The fluid contacts: gas/oil, oil/water. The transition zones. 6.Tackle one unknown at a time. For example, when deriving an Rw value from logs, choose a water bearing zone as nearly identical as possible to the hydrocarbon zone of interest. This means the two zones have the same lithology, have the same or very similar porosity values, have the same type of pore structure (do not compare a zone with moldic porosity to one with granular or fracture porosity for instance), have the same formation water chemistry, etc. Ideally, the two zones are identical except for hydrocarbon content. Bear in mind what G. E. Archie said about his equations. It should be remembered that the equations given are not precise and represent only approximate relationships.
