Safilguda Lake is located in Old Neredmet, Hyderabad. It has an elevation of 536m and is fed by Rama Cheruvu. There is a small island called Nadimi Bird Island. In 2000, HUDA restored the lake but it later became contaminated due to lack of maintenance. The lake is surrounded by parks and attractions like Katta Maimma Temple. It was once pleasant for walks and viewing migratory birds but now suffers from algae blooms and pollution.

11. History
HUDA restored the lake in 2000 under the
Conservation and Restoration Project of Green
Hyderabad Environment Programme. It turned
into a well known amusement range for the
occupants of adjacent states. Quite a while
later, lake got to be contaminated because of
absence of upkeep and carelessness of HMDA
and GHMC.

● Once a pleasant sight, with the serene atmosphere
attracting morning and evening walkers apart from
migratory birds, the lake and its surroundings .
● A small island like structure has been created in the middle
of the lake with healthy growth of trees where one can spot
migratory birds in large numbers.
● During winter, migratory birds set home at the lake. The
setting sun, an expanse of water and birds in flight makes
this lake definitely a photographer’s delight.
