The Lear Corporation enjoys a new 125,000 square foot headquarters building and vision works addition set in a 36 acre park-like campus. The Mazagan Technopole in Morocco is intended to add to the business potential of Morocco through research and development facilities and aims to accommodate up to 300,000 people while protecting the environment. The Intermountain Health Care Clinic in Salt Lake City is designed for efficiency and patient care, clad in brick and terra-cotta to fit with the neighborhood's heritage.

Set in a park-like environment of 36 acres, the Lear
Corporation enjoys a new Headquarters office
building of 125,000 square feet as well as a new
vision works addition. The Master Plan provides
for multiple other facilities in the future while still
maintaining the park setting. The material of the
site wall is a terra-cotta rain-screen and the primary
building materials are coated aluminum and low-e
glass. Facing the street and hovering over the site
wall is a textured glass panel screen. The facades
oriented towards the garden are fully glass to take
advantage of the private view. The lobby features
a three-story glass enclosed communicating stair,
and is adjacent to a 300 seat auditorium and a
dining facility, which, in turn, extends outside to the
garden. The executive floor also maintains a strong
orientation to the garden with both a balcony and a
tall sky lighted space at the periphery of each office.

4. Mazagan Technopole

In general terms this development is intended
to add to the business potential of Morocco
and specifically that which is associated
with Morocco’s unique national resource,
phosphates. It is intended to also provide
new employment opportunities that will be
created by this endeavor. We are planning an
urbanization of the future with its roots in the
successes of the past called a Technopol from
the Greek“Technopolis”.
A Technopol has, at its roots, a concept of
research and development, a critical mass of
exploring minds and an opportunity to take
advantage of the serendipitous discoveries
that have led the economic engines
throughout the modern world. The synergy
provided by this juxtaposition of land use is
explored, documented and analyzed so that
the most successful outcome will result. At its
core is an institute for higher learning, often
augmented by secondary learning facilities
for craft and technology. With adequate
funding for research, development, and
underpinning for startup entrepreneurs the
modern Technopol is a creation that can most
effectively generate a more predictable future
from an its offerings. As such there are several
primary attractors that can be affected by
our planning. The first is the quality of the
“seed”institution that generates the academic
program and facilitates the research. The
second is the physical quality of the place, its
environment and its architecture. A third is the
association with other entities of like-minded
culture and objectives.
We envision an aggregate of buildings flowing gracefully along the topography and maintaining many if not all of the significant
existing trees. Suggestive of the origins of Casablanca and the history of its colonial period architecture in the past century,
we see this urbanization as a symbol of the future of Morocco. We know from our research that a minimum of 60,000 people
could occupy the first village of 450 Hectares in the near future, but with the pressure of both demographic growth as well as
the movement to the cities, we expect an urban form with this character to dominate the kind of lifestyle expected in the future
through its architecture and its planning beyond the automobile. We fully expect that the population focused on research
and the public spaces that promote social interaction can lead to the unexpected synergy that has always sparked the surge of
mankind’s development. Within this armature the city of the future can accommodate as many as 300,000 people and still provide
for the environment in a responsible manner, which is our goal for this 1,400 Hectare site.
The Boulevard
Huntington Drive represents the primary Boulevard. As the main addressing Boulevard of a community 5 times the size of El Jadida, its character and dimensions seem
appropriate. It has a 60’median, three lanes (12’) in each direction, and a bike path (5’). Overall dimensions are 140’or 43 meters.
The Street
Sierra Madre represents the Secondary roads that extend to the National road and the Auto route. This is a 30’median, 2 lanes at 12’each, and a 6’bike path. Overall
dimensions are 90’or 27 meters.

A small school district wanted transformative design to address upgrades and additions for a 1,000-student middle school. By
leveraging sustainability, efficient use of school resources, and demonstrable environmental principles the design encourages
engagement and inspires curiosity.
Each of the 9 new classrooms is paired with an outdoor learning space and includes distinctive solar chimneys to provide summer
comfort without air conditioning as well as an embedded empirical lesson about differential air pressure. A green fringe featuring
indigenouslandscapewrapstheperimeterofplayingfields,creatinganinformalbreakspaceforstudentsandacampusenvironment
that better supports lessons taught about the value of the natural environment.

6. Clinton Memorial Hospital
W i l m i n g t o n , O h i o
This $35 million building and renovation project
involved creating a new Patient Bedtower, Intensive
Care Unit, Women’s Diagnostic Center, and
Emercency Services. The Ambulatory Care entrance
opens into a large atrium space connecting the
diagnostic and treatment areas and provides clear
wayfinding within the hospital.
Unique canopies identify primary entrance points
and proide shelter for both predestrians and vehicle
drop-off. The exterior facades combine brick and
limestone accents matching the existing hospital.
Patient Rooms have generously sized windows with
views to the landscape to promote healing and
relief from stress.

7. Located on a wooded site in the Surgarhill
neighborhood of Salt Lake city, the medical
clinic is designed for efficiency and ease of use
for doctors and patients. Clad in reddish brown
brick and terra-cotta, the building continues
the masonry heritage of the neighborhood,
while the architecture is articulated through
unique details. The glass wall in the waiting areas
provides a tranquil view to the landscape.

8. Century Plaza Towers Renovation

Built originally as one of the most important
iconographic buildings in the Westside of Los
Angeles and designed by Minoru Yamasaki, the
Century Plaza Towers had evolved over time to a
condition in which new requirements needed to be
met as well as a general refurbishing of materials
and details. Our work has at its basis a deep respect
for the quality of the original building. We have
sought in each decision to enhance that design
intent while altering the functions where necessary.
Vehicular access has evolved to where a valet motor
court is now designed for the East Side of the
Towers. This new drop off required a substantial re-
grading of the plaza which necessitated a means to
turn back onto a single point of entry and egress.

9. Jacobs Headquarters
P a s a d e n a , C a l i f o r n i a
Jacobs, a Fortune 500 Company located in
Pasadena, CA had not moved for over 20 years and
had existed in a very outdated office environment
until this recent design became their new
headquarters. The primary direction for the design
given by the executive team was to provide all open
space planning for the entire executive group. This
induced a number of“huddle”rooms, meeting
rooms and conference spaces, but the complete
exterior of each of the four floors in this space is
populated with system workstations and open
planning.
The building chosen for this space, while
conveniently located near transit and in the
desired location on Lake Street in Pasadena, was
also a post tensioned slab office building which
required unique attention to the need to core the
slab over 50 times per floor to obtain power and
communication to the free standing desk systems.
The design features an optimized ceiling system
and overhead lighting and because the underlying
objective of the open plan is to achieve visibility, all
the enclosed spaces were done in glass. The glass
is a specially fabricated glass internally tinted to
achieve the Jacobs Blue throughout the space. In
certain areas of visual privacy, including the Board
Room and a visiting dignitary meeting room, switch
glass was used to electronically change the glass
from clear to frosted at the click of a switch.
One of the floors is used as a world wide
conferencing and training center, and each floor
has at least one Bulthaup kitchen for employee use
and pleasureful moments of visiting over coffee
with their fellow employees. The new aesthetic has
become a new identity for both the corporate users
as well as the 85,000 employees visiting the home
office from around the world.

10. Lear Corporation Interiors

Working closely with ongoing design of the new
corporate headquarters for the company, an
efficient space plan led to an array of offices on
each floor with views to the internal gardens and
the surrounding trees of the adjacent properties.
The floors have an interconnecting stairway
from the lobby to the top floor. Conference
spaces occupy the main corner offices and the
ground floor also accommodates a Cafeteria and
a sloped floor auditorium. The Cafeteria looks
out onto the Lear Garden spaces and the nearby
Visioning center where the new products are
developed and displayed.

Situated in a center part of the City between
the downtown business center and the Galleria
Retail center this Apartment, Retail and Office
tower development is a symbol of the changing
living patterns and expectations of Houstonians.
The elegant form of the signature high-rise
tower, announces the high-end retail and
exclusive office address within the development.
Kirby Drive extends to the north to River Oaks,
the ultimate residential addresses of the City
and then turns into Allen Parkway and park with
a grand boulevard leading into downtown. As a
premier property in this location, it will achieve

12. The gentle form of the Apartment tower provides a radius of views to the
nearby city and country. Entering each unit, the larger view windows at the
perimeter are readily apparent as the walls splay to meet the ellipse geometry
at the balconies. The sophisticated finishes and materials match the high-
end accommodations of the recreation deck above the garage. This roof
top terrace has not only a pool, but a soaking tub, dog walk, outdoor bar,
and numerous seating groups between the trees to allow private meetings
from either tower and a life style of ease and elegance. A 35’high parapet
of stretched fabric that catches the sunlight throughout the day and is
illuminated as a signature of the project at night tops the building. Additional
housing is laminated into the lower level of the garage that faces the existing
neighborhood, so that the shared street is common to only residential use.
The office building, while providing state of the art efficiency and flexibility
for all types of tenants, is also unique in the expression of its architecture and
curtain wall. Artfully extending the enclosure wall up to cover the rooftop
penthouse also becomes a natural focal point for the backlighting of sunlight
during the day and specific illumination at night. This mimics the top of the
apartment tower and can provide a tasteful way of accommodating building
signage if necessary.

13. Beverlywest Condominiums
L o s A n g e l e s , C a l i f o r n i a
Timelessness and dignity are the underlying
concepts to the design of this tower. Los
Angeles is a city of many images, architectural
styles and periods, so it has been our desire to
seek an architecture design that remains quiet
from the standpoint of form, and achieves its
visual richness through detailing, materials
and the play of light across the texture of the
building.
The solid walls face the nearby buildings and
extend above the roof line to form a strong
verticality. These walls are capped by a
cantilever at the helipad on the roof providing
a strong horizontal cornice to the building seen
from the south and east. A visual complexity
is created from forms derived from the
surrounding context. This means of designing
is not based on fashion or trends, and tends to
provide lasting values to the investment and
the building.
The strong shadow beneath the cornice
becomes a beacon of subtle lighting at night.
The texture on the walls of the building is
derived from a detail in the windows that
creates a modern version of a bay window
as the glass wraps back into a setback on
the building façade. From the interior, this
provides a greater view, and from the exterior
the shade and shadow will animate the facade
throughout the day. The windows vary from
this pattern by means of a curtain wall at
certain points which provides a scale and a
variety to the facade.

15. Grand Hyatt Incheon
I n c h e o n , K o r e a
The Grand Hyatt Incheon serves as a premier
venue for international conferences and
business meetings in Northeast Asia. The hotel’s
785,000-square-foot expansion doubles the size
of the existing hotel in order to meet the city’s
growing demands as a major business and leisure
hub.
Inspired by the hotel’s location – situated directly
between the Incheon Airport and the Pacific Ocean
– the design concept draws from the dynamic
motion of wind and water. Capturing the essence
of fluid motion in form, the reciprocal massing of
the hotel also serves to reinforce the symbol of
Korean Air, which is based on the concept of yin
and yang.
The interior design emulates calmness and fluidity
through the use of organic forms, empty space
and a carefully edited materials palette. Korea’s first
LEED® Gold-certified hotel, the new Grand Hyatt
Incheon provides an unparalleled guest experience
unique to the region.

The diffuse and sub urban nature of Orange
County is inexorably becoming more and more
of an urban experience. Centers of education,
air travel, shopping, and recreation have been
emerging from the pastoral beauty of the
former Irvine Ranch in the recent past and will
continue to do so in the future. Centers of work
have been diverse and scattered until now.
Park Place and its new premier office tower
at 3161 Michelson will provide a center like
no other. Located conveniently at the 405
and Jamboree and immediately adjacent to
the open space leading to the single most
important natural amenity, the Back Bay, this
development of the old Fluor Headquarters site
will become what Bunker Hill has become to
downtown Los Angeles, the business address
of note.
