• Orange County Mixed Use Highrise: Site planning, design, and investment management of a 5 tower, 3
million square foot proposed development on a prominent site in Orange County, CA for Doug Miller
Partnership. The site is in proximity to Disneyland and is located along the Interstate 5 Freeway. The
project has the potential to build the tallest tower in Orange County. The towers will range between 22
and 40 stories, observing a 500 foot aviation ceiling in Orange County, and also avoiding a view corridor
from the Disney Theme Park. The project is currently attracting financing and Development partners,
and will potentially move forward in the next 5 years. The project also involves a relocation of a major
trade group industry that is housed in a collection of 37 buildings in Los Angeles. The program includes
entertainment, hospitality, restaurant, office and commercial, in a fully integrated LEED accredited
complex. The project location and design are under a confidentiality agreement, but contact with the
client is permitted for a general discussion of the project, and my role in the design and master plan.

entertainment room with 12 foot ceilings, extensive balconies finished in ironwood, and a formal
elliptical garden. Materials and products from around the world were used to complete the interior of
this residence, and the budget was in the millions.

tower project by Aqua Caliente, was to include Hotel, commercial, office, potential condominium and a
large entertainment focused/restaurant heavy public space. The project stalled after schematic phase
due to the recession.

a rapidly growing suburb of Phoenix. The project was under my supervision as it was completed and
opened in 2007.
• Prasada, Surprise, AZ Mixed Use a joint venture between RED and Macerich surrounded by new
multifamily housing, was an integrated commercial project. As part of my role as chief designer, I wrote
the document that controlled the Design Review Board, a voting body, which included governmental
participation in approving of Designs in the region. The board effectively shortened the entitlement
process, and waived the requirements to appear before City Council and Planning Department Hearings.
• Redondo Beach, CA Target An urban redevelopment project with a multilevel program. A gold nugget
award winner.
• Norterra Entertainment Center/USAA Corporate Joint Venture, Phoenix, AZ as Chief of Design, I
managed the construction of an entertainment complex integrated with USAA Insurance HQ on the
North side of Phoenix. The construction and design review process were completely within my control,
as the project completed in 2007. The project had been started prior to my arrival at RED, and so I was
responsible for the completion. The project includes significant theater and restaurant program, as well
as commercial in this integrated mixed use.
• Shea’s Marina University Village, Marina, CA. Directed the design and construction for, a 700,000sf
mixed use project on the Monterrey Peninsula, and a redevelopment of the Fort Ord Military Base. The
project included multilevel residential above commercial, a residential neighborhood, and research and
development park, a commercial center and was adjacent to the Pacific Ocean and Coast Highway. Shea
Properties is California’s largest housing builder, and this was their largest mixed use project and first
base conversion.
• Silverthorne, Colorado Commercial Building A high elevation building set in Colorado’s premier ski
country in proximity to the City of Dillin and Brekenridge
• Evergreen College Mixed Use proposal. A significant condo/apartment village adjacent to a
commercial center in the heart of San Jose, CA Evergreen College. As a finalist in the competition, the
project stalled through the public process.
• Duraflame Headquarters Mixed Use Neighborhood, Stockton, CA. A proposal to convert Stockton,
CA based Duraflame Corporations grounds along the bank of the San Juaquin River into a high rise
neighborhood with condominium towers, apartment towers and a commercial and hospitality base.
• Opus Tivoli Oval Denver, Colorado Mixed Use proposal for Tivoli Oval, at the downtown Auroria
Campus for Opus West and Mile High Development. The project was to include residential
condominium mid rise buildings, apartments, commercial, institutional uses for higher education,
entertainment, hospitality and structured parking. This 1 million square foot development proposal
involved changing Colorado State Law to allow for State funded Institutions to participate in commercial
ventures
• Kansas City Mixed Use Hospitality/Retail Complex for Miller Weingarten Realty. The project included
800,000 sf program of retail, hotel and condominium on a redevelopment site on the South side of
Kansas City.
• SPI Holdings Condominium Tower and Mixed Use Village in Daly City, CA, just South of San
Francisco. The project proposed a 22 story condo built adjacent to an existing SamTrans (light rail
station), and was to utilize the former surface parking lot of the transit authority. As a transit based
redevelopment, this project had great potential to be a fully integrated mixed use, with hospitality,
commercial, condo and access to downtown San Francisco.
5. • Rincon Embarcadero Redevelopment, San Francisco. Directed the design and construction for JMA
Waterfront Ventures Rincon Restaurants, Epic & Waterbar on the San Francisco Embarcadero, adjacent
to Rincon Park.
• Urban Mixed Use Northpoint Condo Tower, San Francisco. Managed the design and construction of
Wilsey Bennett’s Northpoint remodel, adjacent to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. The project
included a new entrance for the newly completed condominium tower, as well as an interior remodel of
the commercial structure, and a facelift for the existing exteriors.
• Alberta Development, Frisco, Texas Mixed Use Proposal of an 1 million square foot project adjacent
to the new Dallas North tollway. The project was to include significant multifamily residential, single
family residential, commercial and office uses in a three story format..
• Mepkin Abbey Rare Book Collection– Claire Luce Booth Library: Chief Designer and Project
Manager. AIA MN award, and featured on PBS. The project is North of Charleston, SC and is a historic
property of the President of the First Continental Congress, Henry Laurens. The project was funded by
Henry Luce, and at that time was the Chairman of Time Life Magazine. The design of the project,
entitlement and client programming was solely performed by me as the designer. The project opened in
2000, and houses a rare book collection with volumes over 500 years old. The state of the art humidy
control and temperature control systems also utilize geothermal energy, and was therefore a pioneer in
the field of sustainability. The project is built above a waterway, similar to an aquaduct on a pier
foundation. A bridge connects the building to the upper administration building, and allows for
uninterrupted circulation on grade to the famous cloister. Masterplanning and site planning were
significant challenges on this project, because of topography, adjacent uses, and the technical
requirements of the Mepkin Rare Book Collection. The client, and it’s foundation, used high quality
materials and stated that they had a goal for the building to last at least 200 years.
• Mepkin Abbey Seniors Housing 1996
• Westin Hotel Ivy Tower, Minneapolis, MN – Designed a luxury hotel adjacent to the Minneapolis
Convention Center utilizing an existing historical tower, for suites in the hotel.
• North Hennepin College Administration Building – served as job captain and designer.
• Winona University Library, 125,000sf institutional building owned and operated by the State of
Minnesota–job captain.
• 1815 Central Avenue Housing Tower Rehab, Minneapolis, MN an interior remodel of a 20 story
highrise housing tower
