This document provides a sample rubric for evaluating concept maps with criteria for approaching expectations, meeting expectations, and exceeding expectations. The criteria include selecting appropriate concepts, arranging concepts to show relationships, connecting concepts in a hierarchical structure, using linking words and lines to indicate relationships, and using cross links to show complex relationships. Meeting expectations involves acceptable concept selection with some relationships to the topic, some understanding of relationships between concepts, some concepts connected hierarchically, some relationships indicated with lines and linking words, and a few cross links. Exceeding expectations means selecting most or all significant concepts clearly related to the topic, complete understanding of relationships, concepts mostly connected hierarchically from complex to specific, most relationships indicated accurately with varied linking words, and
