This document discusses using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for automated license checks. It proposes a system where drivers have NFC chips embedded in their licenses that can be read contactlessly by a traffic police officer's smartphone app. This allows for simple, secure license checks without paper or risk of bribery. The system aims to have intuitive use, maximum security of personal data, and be developed according to German law. It outlines the existing paper-based system, proposed NFC-based system, how the admin, police and user modules would work, and the technology and requirements to implement the system.
