Don’t tell anyone, but I love google and free templates. No matter what app or search engine you are using you can always find free templates to use! GET INSPIRED BY OTHERS WORK!
It’s as easy as having the right tools in your tool belt. My personal favorite tool is Canva, but I’ll show you how to use that and others to create beautiful designs that are quick and easy to make.

Canva is amazing because it breaks out different templates based on the sizes needed for each design purpose. If you need invitations, FB posts, snapchat geofilters, letterheads, logos, photo books, flyers, brochures stc. Opportunities are endless!! The best part is that the sizing is already done for you with thousands of templates to choose from.

While it sounds easy, this is actually difficult to do. Many clubs try to include too many elements in an ad. Too many words, too many images, too much extra stuff. This is ineffective. Pick one goal/outcome. Is it to create club or district brand building, feature a project, showcase an event or fundraiser? Create a single and simple message to highlight. DON’T OVERWHELM THE MESSAGE
WHERE DOES YOUR EYE GO FIRST? Common design techniques can help you create an ad that people will actually see especially on social media. Facebook can be full of clutter and a cluttered ad will get lost even more. White space is your friend. Using only a small portion of the space can actually serve as a benefit. Studies have shown that a user’s eyes will go to the lightest or brightest areas of the screen first. By leaving plenty of white space around your message and content, you will encourage users to look at your information first.

See something you like? USE IT. It’s perfectly acceptable to use someone else’s ideas when it comes to Rotary. This isn’t copyrighted material! (unless of course it is and then get the proper permission)
Share what you’ve done….inspire others
Sometimes the most memorable ads just break all the rules. They are silly and fun and don’t really seem to go with anything at all. This image was used to inspire a membership drive within a club! The president started an initiative to get younger members in the club and created this to inspire his members to see the desperate need for diversity within the ages. (Think of insurance giant Geico, with the hump day camel or old school music icons. While these aren’t typical ad campaigns, they are so successful the company has dedicated part of the website to them. And there’s a lot to be learned from this concept.)
This odd element is memorable and people will be drawn to it. It is important to note that you should not get too far away from Rotary’s brand or message. Keep your club or districts overall brand image and credibility in mind when trying something different, but have some fun.
UNICEF does it right! Man their campaigns really tug at your heart strings. Both the images and the words get a very clear message across and they work well together to get that message through. “Bad water kills more children than war.” “We are working for a world where a picture doesn’t have another meaning.” “He’s starving. We’re not. It’s time to share.”
While we love sharing ideas we want to make sure to give credit to those designers that have created beautiful images for us. If someone has their logo or design signature don’t remove it. If they’ve put that on there it’s because they want the credit. (most of these people are professional designers or SM influencers) If you don’t want that on it, I’d suggest recreating a similar image or ad in you’re favorite application.
