working for a critical client. The client was the LIodys TSB Headquarters in Bristol, My role ito
inspect contractors operation and finish task. Write a report and issue it onto a drawing and
email. on a drawing and sent to the contractor office and give a copy to the supervisor. Also in
my duties was to give induction, and be available to give first aid. My role also working during
the late evening when contractors would extend their working day until 21.00pm -22:00pm.

In this role I found myself working closely with the contract manager for Richardsons
and the client’s structural engineer in the refurbishment of a three-storey building
with basement based in Horsham, it will be converted into nine luxurious apartments
with a roof garden. The project is projected to finish around Easter 2015. My current
role is to read structural and architectural drawings, to manage sub-contractors and
labourers in the demolition of the building and to liaise with scaffolders and utility
services such as BT, UK PN, Southern Water and SSE Electricity etc. I was also
tasked with ensuring the health and safety standards of the site were kept high,
duties which included regular toolbox talks, time-keeping and managing all aspects
of the construction work.

The objective was a complete office refurbishment of two buildings. My duties
included Health and Safety, site inductions, toolbox talks with once-a-week record
sheets of lola and pure. I also interpreted the drawings to properly instruct the
contractors from electrical and mechanical to complete tasks to specification and on
time. The contract value was £5 million which incorporated 2 buildings (status park 3
& 4 at Heathrow.)

● January 2013 – 31st May 2013. Site manager: Vibe business interiors. Office
refurbishment. Liaised with senior executives and ensured work was on time and to
budget.
● December 2012 – January 2013. Project manager: Area2. Took the lead in
rejuvenating derelict building. Now a four-storey office building. Oversaw ground
landscaping, fitting the foyer to the highest spec & managing sub-contractors on the
fit-out of a studio.
● September 2012- November 2012. Site manager: Mansell construction. Oversaw
grounds works in Christchurch housing estate. Liaised with various clients on site, as
well as Mansell’s quantity surveyor, ecologist and programming team.
● February 2012 – July 2012. Site manager: Mansell construction. £4.2m store
refurbishment contract. Used my wealth of experience to ensure ceiling alteration
and installation of new technology was executed to the expected standard.
● January – February 2012. Site manager: Rooftech. Contracted to oversee
refurbishment of aircraft hangars. My health & safety training ensured that all
precautions were taken. Also regularly met with MoD representatives & other
management.
● October – December 2011. Site manager: Interserve project services. Hospital fit-
out. Contracted to demolish & build two accommodation blocks, two clinical offices
and one office floor for admin.
● July – October 2011. Site manager: Kier construction (southern). Managed sub-
contractors in the rebuilding of a sexual-health clinic. As you can see, I have plenty
of knowhow of medical and office fit-outs, understanding the different demands
compared to residential and shop work.
● July – October 2011. Site manager: Kier construction (southern). £4m fit-out of John
Lewis department store in Southampton. Main role was logistical, keeping client and
contractor informed as well as looking after inductions and health & safety.
● November 2010 – July 2011. Site manager: i4 Interiors. Far from a simple fit-out, my
focus in this contract was to marry the audacious design plans of BNP Paribas with a
structure proving to be incongruous with many modern building methods. As well as
surmounting that particular problem, I also ensured that the tenants residing in the
building suffered as little disruption as possible. Looking forward, the aim is to
convert a garage into a post room (complete with showers and data offices) and

ABOUT ME
I started my career as an apprentice carpenter and, with nigh-on 30 years of experience in
the field, I came to the realisation that I had become incredibly familiar with the nuances of
the workplace. In recent years I have utilised that which I have learnt and used it to progress
from the position of foreman to project manager, working on projects valued up to £25 million.
I am approachable, with a good sense of humour, but take pride in my work and expect those
I’m managing to as well. One aspect of my new role that has surprised me is the business of
liaising with clients, something that suits my disposition. I am capable of motivating a team
and enjoy being hands on.
