This document outlines 7 objectives for retail management training: to build awareness of the retail industry; assess strengths and weaknesses to devise strategies; create and analyze retail metrics to monitor performance; explain the retail sales process and motivate associates; develop HR processes and scorecards; interpret customer behavior; and devise a customer service roadmap. It also defines retail as the sale of goods directly to consumers in small quantities from a single location, including a wide range of products from cars to meals to movie tickets.
