The respiratory system has 6 main organs including the lungs, windpipe, and bronchi that work together to breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Oxygen is breathed in through the nose or mouth and travels to the lungs, then enters the bloodstream, while carbon dioxide is exhaled out. Common problems include coughing from mucus or germs indicating a cold, which can be treated with medication.
