Project One:
Future of a
Dorm Room
• Project 1
• I will be showcasing the rooms I specifically contributed to
– In this project, I contributed in a group of design students to
create the future of a dorm room for international students.
Our group chose to design for two North Korean students
placed at the University Commons located at Oklahoma
State University in Stillwater, OK.
– During this project, we did critical thinking, sketches,
concepts, and ended with our design, as well as research of
the Korean culture and aspects. We grouped together
inspirations and how to make the culture come to life when
being far from home. We were also asked to create each
piece of furniture in the dorm and what form and function it
has. In completion, the design exhibited unity and
continuity.
– Software used:
• Auto CAD
• SketchUp
3. Dorm Room Design Concept:
This design is centered around the two overall
themes of relaxation through the natural color
scheme and material choices as well as productivity
through our sleek multifunctional furniture pieces.

4. CHAIR DESIGN
THE ROOM CONSISTS OF TWO CHAIRS PLACED AT EACH DESK,
WHICH ALSO TURNS INTO A FUNCTIONAL TABLE. THE CHAIRS ARE
ABLE TO FOLD AND ATTACH TO ONE ANOTHER TO MAKE A SITTING
AREA WITH THE STACKABLE BLOCKS THAT CAN THEN BE USED AS
CHAIRS WHILE ALSO ALLOWING ROOM FOR STORAGE.
THE DESIGN ALLOWS THE TWO
PIECES TO FIT, WHICH MAKES IT
MULTIFUNCTIONAL.
5. Lighting Fixture This Stylish hanging light was inspired by the geometric
shapes that are incorporated throughout Korean Culture
When on, the light creates a pattern throughout the room
The material used is
recycled wood.
An LED light bulb is used to reduce the amount of
energy consumed. It is bright enough to be able to
see the entire room at night.

– In this project, we were selected by a recently retired couple to
complete the interior design of their newly purchased home. The
property is a single story, single family house located in the desired
location that my group chose. We were asked to create a client
profile and switch between other groups.
– Programmatic Statement Link: Client Profile and Programmatic
Statement Binder
-We started with bubble and block diagrams, inspiration images,
sketches, and diagrams. We showed our process work through these
steps as well as coming up with our concept and programmatic
statement. Through this, we concluded with a rendered floor plan,
furniture plan, two-point perspectives, renderings, elevations, materials
and finishes, fixtures, and textiles. In completion, the design exhibited
unity and continuity.
