Methembe Darikwa Unit 54
Research Summary
SM Entertainment is the company I have chosen to rebrand​. They’re a K pop label based in
Seoul, South Korea. It was founded in 1995 by Lee Soo-man. SM entertainment are well known
to have produced some of the most successful acts such as Superjunior, Girls Generation, f(x),
EXO, Shinee, Red Velvet and their current signee NCT.
The company aims to market at girls aged 12-20. They mainly market in Korea and Japan but
over the years as the label grew they have marketed in China and other surrounding countries
as well as the western market such as the USA and the European countries. They have gained
a secondary audience over the in the west of males and females around the same age as their
target audience. They use social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to connect to
their audience.
They mainly sell their artist merchandise and publish their albums and songs. It is rare you’ll see
the name on their products.
The company current branding is good, the brand is known worldwide and has become a
powerful entity not only in the Asian market but in the western market alongside their rival YG
entertainment.
The mode of this question were girls with 58.8% whilst boys have a 41.2 %. This intresting
because the target audience is females and the niche auidence is males. I will make the
branding that will refelct the target auidence.

The biggiest percentage of the piechart is the over 16-20 age group.
Methembe Darikwa Unit 54
When asked about the look of the logo most of the particapants thought it was a good logo not
many people thought it was great or a bad logo. Using this data I could safely say that the logo
doesn’t need much modifactions but however I would need to take into acount the other
information from the questions regarding the colour scheme, the typography and how the
auidence reaction to the logo. Wihtout this information the logo would not be good and the
research wouldn’t be thorugh.
