music video whenever and wherever they like.

2. Taylor Swift – Yahoo Live Stream
On Monday August 18th 2014, Taylor Swift premiered her new song
and video for ‘Shake it Off’ (off her album 1989, that was released
on October 27th 2014) on a Yahoo live stream. Taylor Swift made
her announcement during a 30-minute live stream (in partnership
with Yahoo!) broadcast around the world. During the event, she
danced, chatted with fans in the audience, took questions via
Twitter, and shared some important news. We watched the whole
thing for you – and here’s what we learned.

YouTube is arguable one of the most popular video platforms as it is a whole site created to view any kind of video.
Many artists will release their videos on YouTube as a premiere, such videos can generate hundreds of millions of
views. Of late a popular an artist will do is create hype for their upcoming video and make a longer more narrative
version that will be uploaded to YouTube, rather than just the song it back have added minutes to create a story,
such as Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ video. It is a very quick and accessible, free way for people to watch music videos.
In terms of computer technology, way for people to watch music videos. In terms of technology, YouTube allows
anyone to watch a video anywhere on their phone, laptop, tablet, Television etc as long as they have internet
access. A great characteristic YouTube has is that is it instant free streaming for anyone so people can watch new
or their favourite videos.
YouTube began when three former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, decided to
create a video-sharing website on which users could upload, share, and view videos. The website was created on
February 14, 2005, and was developed over the following months. A public preview of the site was offered to the
public in May 2005, six months before YouTube made its official debut. During the summer of 2006, YouTube was
one of the fastest growing sites on the Web, uploading more than 65,000 new videos and delivering 100 million
video views per day in July. It was then ranked the fifth most popular website, and was growing far more popular
than myspace. The website averaged nearly 20 million visitors per month. In November 2009, YouTube launched a
version of "Shows" available to UK viewers, offering around 4,000 full-length shows from more than 60 partners.
Then in January 2010, YouTube introduced an online film rentals service, which is currently available only to users in
the US, Canada and the UK. In March 2010, YouTube began free streaming of certain content, including 60 cricket
matches of the Indian Premier League.

4. The Box
There are many Television channels that will air music videos all day such as ‘The
Box’. However, TV music channels seems to be dying out as the box is one of the
only one TV channels that only play music. Most other TV channels such as MTV
will adapt the channel to air others shows such as reality TV shows as well as
music videos or chart countdowns. Watching music videos on TV is not as
popular as it was 5-10 years ago as technology has developed, although the
channels that do still air videos are commonly watched.
The Box is a television channel that airs music channels in the United Kingdom
and Ireland, however it originated in the United States. The channel was brought
to the United Kingdom by Vincent Monsey and his partner Liz Laskowski, who
discovered the channel in Miami in 1991 as The Jukebox Network, this was then
adapted and brought to the United Kingdom. Nowadays the Box operates from
a pre-programmed playlist and does not include video selection jukeboxes. Then
in July 2007, 50% of Box Television was sold to Channel Four Television
Corporation, before EMAP's remaining 50% in the company was sold to Bauer
Media Group in January 2008. The channel broadcasts from 07:00 to 03:00 (or 20
hours) every day. The Box can now also be streamed live from
www.theboxplus.co.uk app.

5. ITunes
ITunes is another platform that has surfaced in the last few years. It is
possible to buy, download and watch music videos from artists that you
could find on YouTube but instead buy them like a song and watch them
as many times as one pleases. All someone has to do it search for a
particular artist and then find the video they want and buy it. This is a
good way for artists to earn good income on both the video and general
profit, as whilst artists will earn money from platforms like YouTube, the
money from iTunes purchases will go straight to them as well as others.
The Apple site never used to allow for music videos but started to as
time went on.
Through the iTunes Store, users can purchase and download music,
music videos, television shows, audiobooks, podcasts, movies, and
movie rentals in some countries, and ringtones. In 2000 Apple purchased
SoundJam MP, developed by Bill Kincaid and released by Casady &
Greene in 1998 and renamed it iTunes. On January 9, 2001, iTunes 1.0 was
released at Macworld San Francisco. On October 12, 2005, Apple
introduced iTunes 6.0, which added support for purchasing and viewing
of video content from the iTunes Music Store. The iTunes Music Store
initially offered a selection of thousands of Music Videos and five TV
shows.

6. Vimeo
Viemo is a lot like YouTube in the sense it allows people to upload share and watch
music videos (as well as other videos), you have to sign up and it is an ad free site.
Artists can upload their music videos to this site for people to watch and enjoy
instantly. It is a very popular site and is rising in popularity, however websites like
YouTube are still more common and quick. Despite this Vimeo allows for artists to
display their videos on a more ‘put together’ site.
Vimeo was founded in November 2004 by Jake Lodwick and Zach Klein. The name
Vimeo was created by Lodwick, as a play on the words ‘video’ and ‘me’. Vimeo is
also an anagram of the word ‘movie’. IAC purchased Vimeo in August 2006, as part
of its acquisition of Connected Ventures. As of December 2013, Vimeo attracts over
100 million unique visitors per month and more than 22 million registered users. On
16 October 2008, Vimeo unveiled its $60-per-year Vimeo Plus package, which
allows users additional weekly uploads (up to 5 GB), unlimited HD videos,
unlimited creation of channels, groups and albums, no ads, HD embeds, 2-pass
video re-encoding that results in higher quality, priority encoding, and more.
