Editor's Notes
We are the Business Services Consultants at Resource Workforce in the Metro Richmond Virginia area. Our main job is to establish relationships with Businesses to connect job-seekers with not just their next J-O-B, but their next Career. From Chesterfield to Richmond to Henrico, Resource is the Capital Region’s Resource Workforce. We work to supply the community’s businesses and job seekers with the skills and knowledge necessary to fuel economic growth for themselves and Virginia.
We look at this Y-5 in this way. The Employer World is totally connected to the Job Seeker World but as Business Services Consultants we view this model as circular. The Retention will come when we focus on the end result. We do this by viewing our Job Seekers in Clusters based on their Career Goals. Then we can contact Employers based on the model. Conduct inventory of job seekers skills Sort job seekers to industry clusters We strive to find our clients their next job / career that will make them happy. Happy=Retention

By having employers to come out the center on a monthly basis, we build relationships to do ie., resume roundtable, Mt. Gilead Partnership, Richmond's Got Talent. We use Career Connect as a focal or funnel to everything elseWe group our job seekers in industry clusters ‘ IT’, Healthcare, Accounting part of the 5 Targeted Industries set by our Workforce Investment Board We then get employers to come to the center for Meet & Greet and Job Fairs based on those clusters ie., New Horizons (‘IT’ Training Providers), Care Advantage (Healthcare), Accountemps (Professional, Technical, Scientific)
Each job seeker for the event has been pre-screened and prepared for the event with such tools as resumes, mock interview participation and completion of the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC), which is an assessment-based credential that measures key workplace skills.
There is a morning session in which the candidates will participate in a unique training activity (“Winning the Training Game”, True Colors, etc) with our employers. Employers have the opportunity to see the candidates in action during this session
After lunch, we conducting interviews-Employers have candidates assigned based on their relevant experience and interest. We bring each candidate to them as they are ready..
About 100 candidates are selected to participate overall and we usually invite 15-20 employers ((This event was for one employer-Mondial Assistance-and we doubled their typical hiring percentage from 7% to 15%) Verify RGT outcome to insert
