Employment Manager, Arlington County, Arlington, VA. 2011 - Present
 Orchestrate workforce development initiatives that facilitate career pathways and training opportunities
tasked to close regional workforce skills gaps. The goal is develop the “talent” employers’ identify and
thereby ensuring a viable healthy workforce.
 Oversee compliance and dissemination of over a half million dollars in both federal and county workforce
training grants for regional adult populations.
Accomplishments:
 Over a year in design; highly attended with maximum impact five two day Boot Camp workshops targeted
to the mid-career professional. Design to reduce client job search time cycle with strong foundation to
integrate personal brand through job search toolkit. Pilot program results pending.
 Mange a total of 5 career coaches and 2 business analysis’s. Unit serviced over 1000 clients for grant year
2012-13 with a placement rate of 45%, this is an increase of 25% from previous grant year.
Manager of Career Services, American Chemical Society, Washington, DC. 4/08 to 10/10
 Manage career services division with a member base of 160,000 chemical engineers globally.
 Crafted annual strategic plan with the goal of expanding existing member services, attracting new
members, developing independent revenue streams and increasing our visibility.
 Oversee operations of two national career fairs annually with over 50 employers and 1,500 job seekers in
attendance.
 Developed innovative career program services for post docs, graduate students, and mid-career
professions.
Accomplishments:
 Launched a Monthly Teleconference featuring Luminaries in the Chemical Sciences with over 400 hundred
participants from over 20 countries, increased web-site traffic by 60% and strengthening existing industry
networks
 Wrote grant and awarded funding totaling $112,000 from Bio-1 of New Jersey, to develop core
competency models and career paths for the bioscience, pharmaceutical and green industries.
Presentations and an e-learning web-based curriculum were developed to education workforce
development practioners in career mapping for these industries.
 Partnership with Theodolite, LCC conducting focus groups to develop a workforce competency
dictionary for sustainable and clean technology jobs across various industries.
 Integrated new product that allowed members to develop their interviewing skills and send the video link
for review to mentors.
 Developed models for the first virtual career fair with the goal to propel the organization to be a
clearinghouse for industry recruitment in our field. Worked with our international unit to engage industry
and associations abroad. Highly successful with over 20,000 in attendance.

Manager of Program Operations 4/04 – 11/07
Project Director 4/91 – 5/00
 Oversee program operations for a $75 million dollar federally funded work training program with over 80
site offices in 22 states, servicing over 25,000 clients annually.
 Ensure the program meets all government regulations and year-end goals as stated in the Government
Performance Requirements Act and the AARP Foundation Operational Plan.
 Review and revise current practices by leveraging resources, streamlining operations, and creating
efficient claims processes that lead to overhead cost reductions and containment.
 Managed staff of four providing support across divisions and key stakeholders with the goal to maximize
productivity and provide the highest quality of support to the field.
 Worked with over 150 non-profit, grassroots, state and federal agencies in developing opportunities for
program participants to expand skill base. National engagement of employer groups to expand
opportunities and partnerships.
Accomplishments:
 Launched a new Safety Program with the goal to contain the $1 million dollar Workers Compensation
program’s overall costs. Instrumental in the reduction of case load by 55%, leveled overall costs since
inception. Provided a safer work environment for the 24,000 program participants.
 As Project Director maintained the highest placement, salary and retention rates at 56%.
 Received Certificate of Recognition Awards from AARP for extraordinary effort and creativity and The
Ezra Merrill Award from Operation Able of Greater Boston for achievement in assisting mature workers.

Employer and Labor Liaison 5/00 – 4/04
 Worked in the New England Regional area. Built coalitions between private industries, non-profit
agencies, grassroots organizations, the current/potential workforce, and Federal, State and local
government entities as outlined in the Workforce Investment Act.
 Developed materials and conducted public awareness programs on products and services; created
workforce planning and analysis strategies; provided technical information and assistance to labor,
industry, trade unions, state, federal grantees, state and local workforce investment boards, and the public
to help nurture a strong, skilled workforce.
 Member of a national team tasked to update and redesign existing management competency models.
 Certified Contract/Grant Officer Technical Representative for the United States Department of Labor,
Employment and Training Administration. Provided oversight and technical assistance to federal grant
recipients as well as participated in many grant reviews.
Accomplishments:
 Brokered the largest and most profitable car distribution program in the New England area with operating
costs of over $1 million dollars servicing a multitude of stakeholders and recipients.
 Regional team lead for employer high technology grants. Grants were designed to cover training costs of
entry level candidates. Boston region enjoyed the highest success rate by providing comprehensive
technical assistance to all grant funded employers who successfully met all targeted goals.
 Certified Baldrige Examiner. Team lead for the Customer & Marketing Group, Baldrige implementation
efforts with concentration in long range performance management planning. Through my efforts as was
able to identify regional issues and develop a comprehensive customer satisfaction action plan for the
region.
 Mobilized the regional workforce development system by linking job seekers with employers. Generated
highest recruitment and retention activity in the New England region for partnered national employer
initiatives.
 Organized a highly successful three-day regional retreat for over 500 attendees and dignitaries that
encompassed the high level legislative theory & best practices for the newly initiated Workforce
Investment Act. The goal was accomplished by igniting a greater cohesive regional workforce
environment.
