Birgit Penzenstadler is a professor of software engineering at California State University, Long Beach who researches requirements engineering for sustainability. She gave a presentation outlining her background and research interests. She was born in Germany and studied computer science there before obtaining her PhD from TU Munich. Her research focuses on how to consider sustainability during the software engineering process. She is involved in the Karlskrona Manifesto collaborative project which aims to promote principles for designing sustainable software systems.
