A Virtual Intertextual Tour across Ancient
Entrepeneurship
Reports about activities October 2015 – March 2016
AVITAE (A Virtual Intertextual Tour across Ancient Entrepreneurship) aims to blend the
study of the classical world with the analysis of examples of ancient entrepreneurship:
students are going to follow the footsteps of the first entrepreneurs, study the evolution of
entrepreneurship through time and finally apply what they have learnt in theory into their own
entrepreneurial ventures; Classical world, entrepreneurship, digitalization: this is the
ambitious trilogy AVITAE relies on.

who worked on the design, the set-up and collecting the material from the other
countries.
November 6, we had “Make a difference day” at Ørestad Gymnasium. In this event we
had an AVITAE-workshop based on all the recipes from the international recipebook
– we had 30 students cooking soups from our book, to inform about the project and to
hand out a warm soup on a cold November day.
A flyer was created with the recipes of the five soups that was made. See a part of the
flyer below:

October
We travelled to Bratislava, Slovakia, from the 4th till the 10th of October. The
headmistress of Hotelová Akadémia welcomed us and the students showed us their school.
During this visit, our students worked in teams and had some sessions of “learning by
doing” activities and “developing entrepreneurial mindset”. Also they cooked their own
recipes. All the teams could cook one recipe of their choice and afterwards they had to explain
the changes they had made (innovation) to the recipes and why. Finally, all of us, students and
teachers, tried them. They were really delicious! These student will be very good cooks in the
future!
During our stay we visited the old part of Bratislava, the river, the famous UFO
tower,... We could admire the biggest wine cellar in Europe, in the Cerveny Kamen Castle. It
was really huge. Awesome! We even went to Austria, where we could see a marvelous
archeological Roman Park, Carnuntum, and of course, Imperial Vienna.
We also visited a traditional ceramics factory, where we had a hands on workshop,
each of us painted our own jar, then they baked them and two days later we received them in
our good- bye lunch. It was a very amusing moment, all of us showing or hiding our
"masterpieces".
And we can't forget our interesting visit to Pixel Federation Company, a very nice,
comfortable and relaxing place to work. We could go
across the company, see how online games are made,
watch the computer experts working, get information about
coding and even we met Simon Sicko, a successful
entrepreneur and owner of the company.
The last day almost all the international Erasmus
students and students from different schools of Bratislava
took part in a Charity Run. It was very exciting to see so
many young people running for such a good purpose, an
organization in Sierra Leone which helps women.
We decided the activities that had to be done before next meeting in Tenerife (Spain):
Dates and topics for the next two issues of the AVITAE
newspaper .
Task to be shown in Tenerife: Universal Markets.
Best dates for the meeting in Tenerife.
Recipe e-Book

Webminar to be hold in November
When we came back home, students had to start to make some interviews to local
entrepreneurs to write some articles about business and Christmas and about our visit to
Bratislava.
November/ December
We had a coordination meeting with our Local Agency. They talked about the
Mobility Tool, reports, dissemination activities, use of logos, etc., and we talked about
AVITAE project to our colleagues.
Many tasks to do:
Preparing the Spanish part of the Recipe e-Book: Introduction to Canary Islands´
traditional meals, recipes and pictures.
Explaining the Universal Market activity to our students and brainstorming ideas
with them.
Attending teachers' Webinar
Writing the articles for the Christmas issue of the AVITAE newspaper
Keeping our blog updated.
January/ February/March
After the Christmas holidays we started working on the articles for the next newspaper
issue (January) and our students were working in their Universal Market Models as well.
At the same time we have been very busy preparing next meeting. It was going to be
here, in Tenerife and we had many things to do.
Arranging with the Danish team the topics for the INDEX sessions.
Talking with families and students to host the visitors.
Planning all the activities in the school and visits in Tenerife.
Working on the articles for the next newspaper issue (March)
Preparing information to give teachers and students about La Laguna and Tenerife

As soon as we came back from Slovakia, we started implementing what we had decided in
the Bratislava meeting. We wrote the report concerning the visit, and informed the school
community about it. We prepared the two months report for the Evaluation Manager and got
in touch with the students, we had been assigned, to guide them through their joined article on
the Bratislava experience. We also edited the article when that was prepared by the students.
Admittedly, it was quite rough to coordinate students from different countries and get them to
collaborate for a common outcome.
Next we started working on the “Christmas business” article and the students arranged
interviews with local entrepreneurs. In the meantime, we distributed the copies of our
previous AVITAE newspaper issue to teachers and students in the school, to the local
entrepreneur we had interviewed for the article and to the Chamber of Commerce.
Both students and teachers answered the evaluation questionnaires and instructed students
to write their impressions in the padlet, in twinspace. We created some glossary to be used as
common framework for all the students while working on the Christmas article.
We issued the cooking / recipe e book lay out competition in school, we worked on our
students’ suggestions and outcomes and we sent our output to the Danish team. We wrote the
introduction to our country’s food culture chapter and we also wrote the general introduction
for our e book.
Shortly, we informed our students about our next assignment concerning the Ancient
Market and asked for their ideas on the subject.
We selected a new group of students to be also involved in the project and the older students
let them know what we have achieved so far.
We attended the teachers’ webinar.
After the Christmas holidays we started working on the articles for the next newspaper
issue and students began their research on the topics. As soon as the e book was ready we
started sending the link to stakeholders, the municipality, the Chambers of Commerce (Arta
and Athens) and we posted it in facebook (personal and European teachers’ groups).
We dealt with the material the Danish team sent about the INDEX tutorial. We arranged
meetings with our students for the Market assignment. We brainstormed them with basic
notions and we gave them suggestions about bibliography and areas of research. We visited
the Archaeological Museum to get them inspired on the Agora project.
We voted for the new articles’ topics.
As for dissemination,
we presented the AVITAE project in a e twinning seminar that was held on 8/12 for primary
school teachers by the e twinning ambassador for the region of Epirus.
