Refuse chute is a system for vertically transporting waste materials from disposal points in high-rise buildings to a collection room at the base. Originally installed in hospitals and hotels, refuse chutes can be installed in residential, commercial, and other buildings. Waste is deposited into intake hoppers located on each floor and transported through ducts to the collection point. Advantages include centralized waste collection, hygienic disposal, reduced labor and power consumption. Traps are plumbing components that retain water to prevent foul gases and vermin from entering buildings through drain pipes. Different types of traps include floor traps, gully traps, P-traps and intercepting traps.

This is an Architectural case study on the Centre for Environment Planning & Technology (CEPT) building. Situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This is done by an architecture student in semester 5.
Baker studied architecture in Birmingham and graduated in 1937, aged 20, in a period of political unrest for Europe.During the Second World War, he served in the Friends Ambulance Unit in China and Burma. He worked as an architect for an international and interdenominational Mission dedicated to the care of those suffering from leprosy. He focused on converting or replacing asylums once used to house the ostracized sufferers of the disease - "lepers".He Used indigenous architecture and methods of these places as means to deal with his once daunting problems.
Baker's designs invariably have traditional Indian sloping roofs and terracotta Mangalore tile shingling with gables and vents allowing rising hot air to escape curved walls to enclose more volume at lower material cost than straight walls.Designing and building low cost, high quality, beautiful homes

Architecture can be traced in history since the beginning of civilization. It is an ancient discipline
and the results of its thinking and endeavor provide us with some of the most lasting examples of
our culture. Our monuments, cities, and village speak of our culture over the longest span of
time. Yet, the representation of architecture and its role in our society has not flowered. To
bridge this gap in understating between the profession and society, a National Museum of
Architecture is needed. The designed museum should provide spatial variety and inspire a sense
of visual excitement, thus contributing to the overall concept of entertainment and learning.

Hybrid optimization of pumped hydro system and solar- Engr. Abdul-Azeez.pdffxintegritypublishin
Advancements in technology unveil a myriad of electrical and electronic breakthroughs geared towards efficiently harnessing limited resources to meet human energy demands. The optimization of hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems plays a pivotal role in utilizing natural resources effectively. This initiative not only benefits humanity but also fosters environmental sustainability. The study investigated the design optimization of these hybrid systems, focusing on understanding solar radiation patterns, identifying geographical influences on solar radiation, formulating a mathematical model for system optimization, and determining the optimal configuration of PV panels and pumped hydro storage. Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. The study underscored the benefits of optimizing hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems for sustainable energy usage. Optimizing the design of solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems as examined across diverse climatic conditions in a developing country, not only enhances power generation but also improves the integration of renewable energy sources and boosts energy storage capacities, particularly beneficial for less economically prosperous regions. Additionally, the study provides valuable insights for advancing energy research in economically viable areas. Recommendations included conducting site-specific assessments, utilizing advanced modeling tools, implementing regular maintenance protocols, and enhancing communication among system components.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS...ssuser7dcef0
Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.

• Traps are an important component of a plumbing system fitted at the
end of soil pipes or waste pipes to stop insects and vermin and foul
gasses (odour) coming out of the soil pipe or waste pipe into the
buildings.
• It is developed or designed such that it retains a small quantity of

barrier to prevent foul gasses or air entering the building.
• Traps shall be of self-cleansing design with uniform bore and shall not
be dependent on internal partitions or other movable parts for
retention of water seal.
• They should generate enough velocity from the available flow to
have a self-cleansing effect with a smooth finish.
02-Jul-17 Rameez R. Gazi, Dept. of Architecture 12
13. Traps…
• Some manufactured fixtures, e.g. water closets, bed pan washers
and certain models of urinals have integral traps built within the body
of the fixture.
• Diameter of the trap shall in no case be smaller than the diameter of
the outlet of the fixture to which it is connected.
• Connection of a trap into another trap should not be practiced.
• Diameter of outlet pipe from a floor trap shall not be less than size of
the trap outlet.

building by providing water seal. It has
deep water seal of minimum 50 mm depth
and it also prevents entry of bugs and
insects from sewer line to waste water
pipes.
02-Jul-17 Rameez R. Gazi, Dept. of Architecture 15
