TA-HA (Ta-Ha)
By the reality of The One To Serve/Allah The Beneficient The Ever Giving.
1. O man/Ta, Ha.
2. The One did not reveal the Quran to you to make you suffer.
3. But only as a reminder for him who fears.
4. A revelation from The One who created the earth and the high universe.
5. The Most Merciful; on the trelis The One ruled.
6. To The One belongs everything in the universe and the earth, and
everything between them, and everything beneath the soil.
7. If you speak aloud— The One knows the secret, and the most hidden.
8. The One To Serve/Allah, there is none to serve but The One, The One’s
is the Most Beautiful Realities.
9. Has the story of Musa reached you?
10. When he saw a fire, he said to his family, “Stay; I have noticed a fire;
Perhaps I can bring you a torch therefrom, or find some guidance by the
fire.”
11. Then, when he reached it, he was called, “O Musa.
12. I am your Regulator. Go and pay blood money to cleanse yourself from
worldly relations/Remove your shoes. Indeed, you pay blood money/you
are in to be pure/sacred valley of and start anew/Tuwa.
Kh-Lam-Ayn = To pull/strip/throw/cast something off, to be removed from or divested of, to forsake allegiance/obedience to someone, to repudiate or renounce
someone, to ransom off, to contend with someone, to come off or fall off, become disjointed/seperated/displaced, to go away secretly, to annull/dissolve/break
a pact or covenant, divorce one's wife for a ransom given by her, grow insane or diabolically possessed, to be gripped with weakness and fear/fright, say or do
what one pleases (without care or fear of blame), play in games of hazard (for stakes laid by both players to be taken by the winner), to be of vitious or immoral
conduct
Nun-Ayn-Lam = to give shoes to anyone, covering underneath foot preventing contact with the ground, sole, sandal. The command in the verse 20:12 to take
off your shoes can be taken as a metaphorical expression for making the heart vacant from worldly relations.
Waw-Dal-Ya = to pay the blood money, pay a fine as expiation for human life, compensate for murder.
Qaf-Dal-Siin = to be pure, holy, spotless. qudusun - purity, sanctity, holiness. al quddus - the holy one, one above and opposite to all evil, replete with positive
good. muqaddas - sacred. An earthen or wooden pot.
Tay-Waw-Ya = roll up, fold.
This is interesting! -The One does not command ridiculous thing of removing shoes
-there is no such place as sacred valley
-how does The One forgave Musa from his mistake?
-and absolve him from his crime?
-remember the law The One put down
-obey the law and there is a section
-remember what Musa did
-he killed a person
-so how could he be a prophet if he is a criminal
-compensatory payment (Diyya)
-be paid to the family of the murdered person
-where you pay ransom money to the family of the victim
-so Musa had to do exactly that
-there is no exception for Musa
-The One is just and equitable
Why the translation -I don’t know
differed? -I dare not speculate
13. I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed.
14. I—I am The One To Serve/Allah. There is none to serve/no god but I. So
serve Me, and carryout review/discussion/prayer for My remembrance.
Alif-Lam-ha = to serve, worship or adore; to protect, grant refuge, preserve save, rescue, liberate; object of worship ie God; (Alif-Lam-Lam-ha) God, the one true
God applied as a proper name denoting the true god, comprising all the excellent divine names; a unity comprising all the essences of existing things.
Sad-Lam-Waw = prayer, supplication, petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnify, bring forth, follow closely, walk/follow
behind closely, to remain attached. In a horse race when the second horse follows the first one so closely that its head always overlaps the first horse’s body
that horse is called AL-MUSSALLI (i.e. the one who follows closely / remains attached). Central portion of the back, portion from where the tail of an animal
comes out, the rump.
15. The Hour is coming—but I keep it almost hidden—so that each soul will
be paid for what it endeavors.
16. And do not let him who denies it and follows his desire turn you away
from it, lest you fall.
17. And what’s that your cause of blessing/right hand, O Musa?”
Ya-Miim-Nun = right side, right, right hand, oath, bless, lead to the right, be a cause of blessing, prosperous/fortunate/lucky.
18. He said, “My people/staff. I lean upon them/bring down, and they
crumbled easily/leaves, in them always cunning in the end/for my sheep
and for me in it other uses other.”
Ayn-Sad-Waw = to strike with a stick. asiya/ya'sa - to take a stick, come together, collection, accumulation, amazing, gathering, assemblage, congregation. asa
- staff, stick, rod, supports, nation, mastery, people, party, tongue, skin, bone. idrib bi asaka al hajer - strike with your staff on the rock, go forth with your people.
Waw-Kaf-Alif = to recline. Atawakka'u (impf. 1st. p. sing.): I lean. Muttaki'uuna/Muttaki'iina (acc. / ap-der. m. pl. vb. VIII): reclining upon. Muttaki'un (n. place
and time. vb. 8): repast, place where one reclines, cushioned couch.
ha-Shiin-Shiin = to beat down the leaves of a tree, it (a thing) was or became soft/yielding/slack/uncompact/crummy/fragile or easily or quickly broken.
Gh-Nun-Miim = obtained, got, took (usually in reference to spoils or booties); acquisition without difficulties, succeed without trouble, regaining, sheep or
goats collected together, numerous flock.
Alif-Ra-Ba = He was, or became, cunning, characterized by intelligence with craft and forecast, or simply intelligent, excellent in judgment, sagacious, and
knowing in affairs; He became excellent, or skilful, in the thing, or he became accustomed to, practised or exercised in, the thing, and became knowing, or
skilful (therein); He devoted, or addicted himself, or cleaved or kept to a thing; he was, or became, niggardly, avaricious, or tenacious, of a thing. His member
or limb (generally meaning the arm or hand) was cut off or dropped off; his members or limbs (generally relating to the members or fingers) of the arm or
hand dropped off one after the other in consequence of a certain disease (usually termed jeem-dhal-alif-meem); A member, a distinct part of the animal body,
a limb; expert skillful
Alif-Kha-Ra = go backwards, retreat/recede/retire, hold back/delay/postpone/defer, last/back part of a thing. Another, other, 2nd.
19. The One said, “Face/throw it down it, O Musa.”
Lam-Qaf-Ya = To meet, meet with, encounter, find, find out a thing, see, come across, experience, suffer from, occur, undergo, endure, lean upon, receive,
come face to face, go in the direction of or towards.
20. So he faced/threw it down it—thereupon they are full of shamefulness/a
snake and striving at it/moving swiftly.
Ha-Ya-Ya = (a doubly imperfect verb) To live, be alive, be ashamed, spend (the night) awake, fertilize the earth, keep anyone alive; spare any one, let anyone
alive, remove prudency, modesty and shamefulness, make immodest, To be in good condition, have the means of subsistence, to be apparent or distinct, have
prolonged or preserved life, free from evil or harm, have dominion, be honored, receive benefit, to salute, to enliven/revive/give life to, to nourish, vivify/re-
vivify/revive/resuscitate, endue/quicken with life, (said of land) to be tilled and made productive, to remain awake, to shrink from a thing, to forbear, to feel or
have a sense of or be moved or affected with shame/shyness/bashfulness, be ashamed/shy of doing a thing, disdain or scorn a thing, abstain from a thing/refuse
to do it.
Siin-Ayn-Ya = he walked or went along, to strive/exert/labour/work, go quickly, effort, endeavour, hasten/act/run, be active, diligent, age of running or work and
assist (child).
21. The One said, “Master/seize it them, and do not fear. The One will revert
them to their former situation/return to former state.
Alif-Kha-Dhal = to take in one's hand, received/acquired, derived/deduced/admitted, accepted, accept a covenant, affected/influenced, overpowering influence,
take captive, gain mastery, slew/destroy, captivate/fascinate.
Kh-Waw-Fa = To fear, to be afraid/frightened/terrified, to put fear into another, diminish or lessen or take from, to take little by little from a thing, take from
the sides of a thing, slaughter or fight.
Ayn-Waw-Dal = to return, turn away, come back, repeat, restore. aidun - one who returns. ma'adun - place where one returns, another name of Makkah. a'ada
(vb. 4) - to cause to return, restore. The verb a'ada is transitive to mean to get someone return or cause to return or bring back (what has passed away)
Siin-Ya-Ra = to go, travel, be current, move, journey. sairun - the act of giving, journey. siratun - state/condition, make/form. sayyaratun - company of travellers,
caravan.
Alif-Waw-Lam - To return, be before, come back to. To interpret [by consideration], explain. To contract, withdraw, become. To preside over, hold command or
authority. To come to be. To put in a proper state/condition, or to compose [an affair]. To resort to; namely [a thing of any kind; the thing or place whence he
or it originated, or came. His or its origin or source; his or its original state, condition, quantity, weight; any place. A former action, saying, or the like]. To return
or restore to [ a thing, place, or disposition]. To explain, expound, interpret [collecting the meanings of dubious expressions by such expression as is clear, or
plain, without dubiousness]. To explain the meaning of that which is equivocal or ambiguous. To be seen from a distance.
22. And be gentle with your authority to lower your wings conspicuous in
your domain/draw near your hand to your side do not treat them
badly/without any disease— another indication/sign.
Dad-Miim-Miim = Drew, put, brought, gathered together. Collected or contracted a thing to a thing. Be gentle, courteous, easy to deal with or compliant.
Grasped, took. Drew near or close. Became conjoined, accompanied, comprised. Severe calamity or misfortune. A thing or thread, string, cord, or the like, by
means of which one thing is drawn, and joined, or adjoined, to another thing. A lion that grasps everything. Angry, daring, bold (applied to a man). Any valley
[flowing with water] along which one goes between two long hills of the kind termed akamat. Niggardly in the utmost degree. One who takes, or gets,
everything within his grasp, drawing it to himself. One who eats much, has an inordinate appetite for food, who appropriates to himself exclusively of others. A
company or collection of men not of one stock, but of different tribes mixed together. A place of assembling (of military forces). Lean or slander in the belly (as
though one part thereof were drawn and adjoined to another).
Ya-Dal-Ya = to touch, aid, do good, be beneficent, show power and superiority, a hand. By his agency/means. With a willing hand, out of hand, having financial
ability. In acknowledgement of the superior power, in ready money and not in the form of deferred payment, considering it as a favour, on account of help,
(payment should be made by the hand of the parties themselves without the intervention of a third party and without reluctance. baina yadaihi - before him,
in his presence hit, between his two hands. ulill aidi - men of power (lit. gifted with hands) suqaita fi aidihim (idiomatic expression) they repented, the idea
seems to be that they hit their fingers in grief and contrition. Handy, Might, Power, Superiority, Benefit, Possession, Favour, Generosity. The idea behind those
expressions is that the use of the hand is the real source of the superiority and power. Under his authority, upper hand, arm, foreleg of a beast, handle of a
tool, wing of a bird. ma qaddamat yada - that is what thou hast deserved.
Jiim-Nun-Ha = to lean/incline, to bend/stoop, side. ribs of the breast, upper/anterior ribs next to the breast/heart (so-called because they incline over the heart),
something one uses to lean on/to one side (upper-arm, shoulder, elbow, hand), wing/power, "lower your wing" is an idiomatic metaphor for.
ove/tenderness/humility, evocative of a bird that lovingly spreads its wings over its offspring in the nest, shadow/shelter/protection, armpit, assistant, going
quickly/swiftly (said of an animal due to them leaning forward as they run), a sin or crime, act of disobedience/blame.
Kh-Ra-Jiim = To go out, go forth, depart, evade/escape/extricate oneself from, to quit/forsake, to rebel, to be foul or obscene, conspicuous, be clear (as in clear
sky as opposed to cloudy), to resolve/explain/render, educate/discipline/train well, render a thing of two mixtures (such as two colors, black and white, or to
write upon part of a tablet and leave part of it blank), make a thing to be of different kinds, contribute to a thing or cause, make an agreement,
extort/extract/produce/elicit, to exclude something or someone, to vent, surpass or excel, outstrip others, be external/extrinsic/objective.
Ba-Ya-Dad =White, becoming white. Surpassing in whiteness, superiority in whiteness (e.g. whiteness of day/daylight). An egg of any bird or like an egg (also
used metaphorically). Whitening something, bleaching or whitewashing. Territory, place, quarter, tract, region, district, portions that belong to some people.
Bulb of the saffron plant. Container or receptacle. Principle place of abode, seat of power, heart of the dominion. White smooth land
Siin-Waw-Alif = to treat badly, do evil to disgrace, be evil/wicked/vicious, ill, anything that makes a person sad and sorrowful, bad action, mischief and
corruption, sin, evil doer, wretched or grievous, vex, annoy. su'atun (pl. suat) - corpse, external portion of both sexes, shame.
Alif-Ya-Waw = sign, apparent sign, mark, indication, message, evidence, proof, miracle, communication, verse of The Quran. It properly signifies any apparent
thing inseparable from a thing not equally apparent so that when one perceives the former, he perceives the other which he cannot perceive by itself.
Alif-Kha-Ra = go backwards, retreat/recede/retire, hold back/delay/postpone/defer, last/back part of a thing. Another, other, 2nd.
23. That The One may show you some of The One’s greatest Indication.
24. Go to The Wicked; He has transgressed.”
25. He said, “My Regulator, put my heart at peace for me.
26. And ease my task for me.
27. And untie the knot from my tongue.
28. So they can understand my speech.
29. And appoint an assistant for me, from my family.
30. Harun, my brother.
31. Strengthen me with him.
32. And have him share in my mission
33. That we may perform for You much.
34. And remember You much.
35. You are always watching over us.”
36. The One said, “You are granted your request, O Musa.
37. The One had favored you another time.
38. When The One inspired your mother with the inspiration.
39. `Put him in the chest; then cast him into the river. The river will wash him
to shore, where an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his will pick him up.
And I have bestowed upon you love from Me, so that you may be reared
before My eye.
40. When your sister walked along, and said, ‘shall I tell you about someone
who will take care of him?' So The One returned you to your mother, that
she may be comforted, and not sorrow. And you killed a person, but The
One saved you from stress; and The One tested you thoroughly. And you
stayed years among the people of Median. Then you came back, as
ordained, O Musa.
41. And I made you for Myself.
42. Go, you and your brother, with My indicators, and do not neglect My
remembrance.
43. Go to The Wicked/Firaun. He has tyrannized.
44. But speak to him nicely. Perhaps he will remember, or have some fear.”
45. They said, “Regulator, we fear he may persecute us, or become violent.”
46. The One said, “Do not fear, I am with you, I hear and I see.
47. Approach him and say, `We are the messengers of your Regulator; so let
the bonded/Israel go with us, and do not torment them. We bring you
indicators from your Regulator, and peace be upon him who follows
guidance.
48. It was revealed to us that the punishment falls upon him who are not
convinced and turns away.'“
49. He said, “Who is your Regulator, O Musa.”
50. He said, “Our Regulator is The One who gave everything its existence,
then guided it.”
51. He said, “What about the first generations?”
52. He said, “Knowledge thereof is with my Regulator, in a Book. My
Regulator never errs, nor does The One forget.”
53. The One who made the earth a habitat for you; and traced in it routes
for you; and sent down water from the sky, with which The One produce
pairs of diverse plants.
54. Eat and pasture your livestock. In that are evidences for those with
understanding.
55. From it The One created you, and into it The One will return you, and
from it The One will bring you out another time.
56. The One showed him The One’s evidences, all of them, but he denied
and refused.
57. He said, “Did you come to us to drive us out of our land with your skillful
eloquence/magic, O Musa?
58. We will produce for your skillful eloquence/magic like it; so make an
appointment between us and you, which we will not miss—neither us,
nor you—in a central place.”
Siin-Ha-Ra = To turn it/him from his course, way, or manner of being. The turning of a thing from its proper manner of being to another.
Lane says that "He (an enchanter) apparently turned the thing from its proper manner of being, making what was false to appear in the form of the true, or
real; causing the thing to be imagined different from what it really was." To deceive, delude, beguile, or outwit. The producing what is false in the form of truth.
Embellishment by falsification and deceit. A kind of enchantment, or fascination which captivates the eye and the like. Skillful eloquence [something which is
praiseworthy]. Early in the morning, or the first part of day (the time of), a little before daybreak, or the false dawn. Whiteness overspreading blackness. Food
marred or spoilt. Having little milk, or large in her udder but having little milk. To guild, fascinate, bewitch, wheedle, turn anyone from, enchant, practice sorcery,
hoax, deprive of understanding.
59. He said, “Your appointment is the day of the festival, so let the people
be gathered together at mid-morning.”
60. The Wicked/Firaun turned away, put together his plan, and then came
back.
61. Musa said to them, “Woe to you. Do not fabricate lies against The One
To Serve/Allah, or The One will destroy you with a punishment. He who
invents lies will fail.”
62. They disagreed among themselves over their affair, and conferred
secretly.
63. They said, “These two are eloquent orator/magicians who want to drive
you out of your land with their skillful eloquence/magic, and to abolish
your exemplary way of life.
64. So settle your plan, and come as one front. Today, whoever gains the
upper hand will succeed.”
65. They said, “O Musa, either you come forward/throw, or we will come
forward/be the first to throw.”
Lam-Qaf-Ya = To meet, meet with, encounter, find, find out a thing, see, come across, experience, suffer from, occur, undergo, endure, lean upon, recieve,
come face to face, go in the direction of or towards.
66. He said, “Nay, you come forward/throw.” And then behold/suddenly,
their entrapment/ropes and mastery/sticks surmised him/appeared to
him, because of their skillful eloquent/magic, as he goes along/to be
crawling swiftly.
Ha-Ba-Lam = tie/fasten with rope, rope/cord, covenant, a thing by means of which one snares/catches/snares, obtaining an assurance/promise of safety, snare,
to entrap, to captivate, being pregnant/full, bond, cause of union, link of connexion, marriage, carotid artery, jugular vein, calamity/misfortune, a foetus in the
womb, grapevine, one who binds, crisped/plaited/rope-like hair (e.g. that of Ethiopians).
Ayn-Sad-Waw = to strike with a stick. asiya/ya'sa - to take a stick, come together, collection, accumulation, amazing, gathering, assemblage, congregation. asa
- staff, stick, rod, supports, nation, mastery, people, party, tongue, skin, bone. idrib bi asaka al hajer - strike with your staff on the rock, go forth with your people.
Kh-Ya-Lam = To think or have an opinion of a thing, surmise or fancy a thing, limp or halt, slightly lame, image a thing (form an image) in the mind, perceive or
discover, convey doubt or suspicion, to be cowardly or weak-hearted on the occassion of a fight [and thus do not act/proceed firmly or steadily], hold back from
people or a party through cowardice, vie with/rival/imitate someone (do as he does) in pride and self-conceit, dubious/confused/vague, become abundant in
plants or herbage (land), go on or away, act with a penetrative energy (being quick), behave proudly or haughtily, walk with pride or self-conceit, weak in heart
and body, free from an attachment of love (having no spouse).
Siin-Ha-Ra = To turn it/him from his course, way, or manner of being. The turning of a thing from its proper manner of being to another.

67. So fearful Musa felt apprehensive within himself.
68. The One said, “Do not be afraid, you are the uppermost.
69. Now come forward/throw down with what leads to righteousness/is in
your right hand—it will crumble/swallow what they have crafted. What
they have crafted is only a skillful eloquent/magician to deceive/trickery.
But the skillful eloquent orator/magician will not succeed, no matter
what he does.”
Ya-Miim-Nun = right side, right, right hand, oath, bless, lead to the right, be a cause of blessing, prosperous/fortunate/lucky.
Lam-Qaf-Fa = To catch up hurriedly, seize, swallow up quickly, destroy, undo, eat up, catch and retain, collapse, fall upon the enemy, crumble down.
Sad-Nun-Ayn = to make/do/create/build, work a thing, nourish, bring up. sun'un - an act, that which is done. masna'un (pl. masani) - cistern, palace, citadel,
fine building, fortress. san'atun - making, art of making.
Kaf-Ya-Dal (Kaf-Alif-Dal) = To be about to, be just on the point of, be well nigh, intend, wish, practise an artful device, desire, contrive/plot/devise such a thing,
worked or laboured at or upon anything, to do something clandestinely, to deceive/beguile/circumvent, means of evading/eluding, vomited, emitted fire, had
menstrual flux, gave up his spirit.
70. So the skillful eloquents endure humble adoration/and the
enchanter/magicians fell down. They said, “We are convinced in the
Regulator of Harun and Musa.”
Lam-Qaf-Ya = To meet, meet with, encounter, find, find out a thing, see, come across, experience, suffer from, occur, undergo, endure, lean upon, recieve, come
face to face, go in the direction of or towards.
Siin-Jiim-Dal = lowly, humble, submissive, worship, adore, prostrate, make obeisance, lower/bend oneself down towards the ground, lower the head, to
salute/honour/magnify, to pay respect, to stand up, to look continuedly and tranquily. MSJD - parts of a man that are the places of SJD, e.g.
forehead/nose/hands/knees/feet etc. Any mode/place/practice in which the act of SJD is done.
71. He said, “were you convinced in him before I have given you permission?
He must be your chief, who has taught you skillful eloquents/magic. I will
cut off your hands and your feet on alternate sides, and I will crucify you
on the trunks of the palm-trees. Then you will know which of us is more
severe in punishment, and more lasting.”
72. They said, “We will not prefer you to the proofs that have come to us,
and The One who created us. So issue whatever judgment you wish to
issue. You can only rule in this lowly life.
73. We are convinced in our Regulator, so that The One may forgive us our
sins, and the skillful eloquents you have compelled us to practice. The
One To Serve/Allah is better, and lasting.”
74. Whoever comes to his Regulator guilty, for him is Hell, where he neither
dies nor lives.
75. But whoever comes to The One and are convinced, having productive
work—these will have the highest ranks.
76. The Gardens of Perpetuity, beneath which rivers flow, staying therein.
That is the reward for him who purifies himself.
77. And The One inspired Musa: “Travel by night with My servants, and strike
for them a dry path across the water, not fearing being overtaken, nor
worrying.”
78. The Wicked pursued them with his troops, but the water overwhelmed
them, and completely engulfed them.
79. The Wicked misled his people, and did not guide them.
80. O bonded people/Israel! The One have uplift you to be superior in your
action as cause for blessing/delivered you from your enemy, and
promised you by the right side of the Mount and sent down to you
manna and quails.
Jiim-Nun-Ba = To break or hit or hurt one's side, to lead one by his side, place or put a thing aside, to remove or send a thing far away or far off, estrange or
alienate someone, descend and abode/settle as a stranger among people, to be remote/distant/far off/aloof from someone, shun or avoid someone, alienate
or estrange oneself from someone, to be under the obligation of performing a total bath or ablution (by reason of sexual intercourse and semenal discharge),
to be lateral or adjacent to someone or to a thing, walk by the side of another, to be gentle/compliant/easy to deal with, to be much of.
Tay-Waw-Ra = went or hovered round about it, approach, time or one time, repeated times, quantity/measure/extent/limit, aspect/form/disposition, way of
action, manner, kind/class, stage/state, Mount Sinai, Mount of Olives, applied to several other mountains, mountain which produces trees, mountain, wild or
to estrange oneself from mankind, stranger, utmost point, encounter two extremes.
Ya-Miim-Nun = right side, right, right hand, oath, bless, lead to the right, be a cause of blessing, prosperous/fortunate/lucky.
81. Eat of the good things The One have provided for you, but do not be
excessive therein, lest My wrath descends upon you. He, upon whom My
wrath descends, has fallen.
82. And I am Forgiving towards him who returns, are convinced, acts
honestly, and then remains guided.
83. “And what made you rush ahead of your people, O Musa?”
84. He said, “They are following in my footsteps; and I hurried on to You, my
Regulator, that you may be pleased.”
85. The One said, “The One put probation/have tested on your people in
your absence, and Samiri misled them.”
Fa-Ta-Nun = to try or prove, persecute, burn, assay, put into affliction, distress and hardship, slaughter, cause to err, seduce from faith by any means, mislead,
sow dissension or difference of opinion, mischief, put in confusion, punish, give reply or excuse, tempt, lead to temptation, make an attempt upon, seduce.
fitnatun - persecution, trial, probation, burning, assaying, reply, excuse, war, means whereby the condition of a person is evinced in respect of good or evil,
hardship, punishment, answer, temptation, burning with fire.
86. So Musa returned to his people, angry and disappointed. He said, “O my
people, did your Regulator not promise you a good promise? Was the
time too long for you? Or did you want wrath from your Regulator to
descend upon you, so you broke your promise to me?”
87. They said, “We did not break our promise to you by our choice, but we
were made to carry loads of the people’s ornaments, and we cast them
in. That was what Samiri suggested.”
88. So he produced for them a calf—a mere body with a lowing sound. And
they said, “This is yours to serve/god, and object to serve/god of Musa,
but he has forgotten.”
Alif-Lam-ha = to serve, worship or adore; to protect, grant refuge, preserve save, rescue, liberate; object of worship ie God; (Alif-Lam-Lam-ha) God, the one true
God applied as a proper name denoting the true god, comprising all the excellent divine names; a unity comprising all the essences of existing things.
89. Did they not see that it cannot return a word to them, and has no power
to harm them or benefit them?
90. Harun had said to them before, “O my people, you are on probation by
this. And your Regulator is the Merciful, so follow me, and obey my
command.”
91. They said, “We will not give up our devotion to it, until Musa returns to
us.”
92. He said, “O Harun, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray.
93. From following me? Did you disobey my command?”
94. He said, “Son of my mother, do not seize me by my beard or my head. I
feared you would say, `You have caused division among the bonded
people/Israel, and did not regard my word.'“
95. He said, “What do you have to say, O Samiri?”
96. He said, “I saw what they did not perceived/see, so I grasped a handful
from the Messenger’s narration/traces, and I rejected it/flung it away.
Thus my pride/soul deceived/prompted me.”
Ba-Sad-Ra =Becoming perceptive, mental perception, having belief or knowledge, understanding, intelligence or skill, knowing, giving light, shining, illuminated,
making manifest, evident and/or apparent. To behold/perceive/see/observe/watch. Opening the eyes and/or seeing (seldom used unless mental perception is conjoined). Clear sight. Thickness
of anything. Sense of sight, making or causing to see and/or have sight, eye-sight, eyes. Soft stones having some whiteness. Intent or a hard glance. A watcher or guard, a lion.
Qaf-Ba-Daad = take with hand by actual touch/feel, close, grasp, clutch, seize, contract/draw/collect together, take posession, with reference to birds = contract
their wings, quick in flight/pace.
Alif-Tha-Ra = to relate, narrate, recite, choose, propose, transmit, raise, prefer, effect, excite. To stir up, to trump up. Determined/resolved/decided upon a thing.
Origin, time/period of life. Dearth, scarcity, drought or sterility. An iron instrument with which the bottom of a camel's foot is marked, or a camel with such a mark.
A generous quality/action (e.g. passed down from generation to generation). athar means after, footstep/trace/mark/track/remnant/tradition/teaching, impression/influence, stamp/scar,
remains, relics of knowledge transmitted, sunnah, vestige, print, memorial of antiquity. (i.e. that which is left behind from something)
Nun-Ba-Dhal/Thal = to throw, fling, give up, cast off, reject, throw a thing because of its worthlessness or not taking into account.
Siin-Waw-Lam = to delude, entice, contrive, suggest, prepare, embellish, deceive, lead one to error.
Nun-Fa-Siin = was or became high in estimation, of high account or excellent, highly prized/precious/valuable and therefore desired with much emulation or much request, desired, it became
loved or highly esteemed, console, cheer, envy. Was or became avaricious/tenacious/niggardly of it because of its being in high estimation or excellent, little to much good. Brought forth (e.g.
gave birth to a child), menstruated, blood. Clear away grief/anxiety/sorrow, ease/relieve, delay. Breath, gust, drew breath, sigh, spoke long (due to regular intake of breath), become
extended/long/increased, ability. Soul/spirit, the vital principle, intellect/reason/mind, inner desire or feeling, knowledge, pride, self-magnification, a state where there is
ample scope for action, 'willingly' when used as adverb, nafs - soul of discrimination (mental) and ruh - soul of breath (physical), oneself/itself, whole, essential constituent,
reality, sometimes ghayb and nafs are synonymous, a person/being/individual, quantity, man, life, soul + body, life-blood, body, contention/thought/face/substance, heart, stomach, gulp,
drought.
Brother or co-partner in faith/religion/relationship. Wide space, distance, width. Greatness, nobility, glory, scarcity, absoluteness, unseen, hidden reality which is beyond human perception,
intention, requital, punishment.
97. He said, “Be gone! Your lot in this life is to say, ‘touch me not.’ And you
have an appointment that you will not miss. Now look at thing that you
served that you remained devoted to—we will burn it up, and then blow
it away into the sea, as powder.”
Miim-Siin-Siin = To meet or touch or feel a thing with the hand, touch a thing without intervention or interference, strike or smite, afflict or befall, be distressing
or difficult of accomplishment.
98. Surely you are to serve The One To Serve/Allah, The One besides whom
there is none to serve. The One comprehends everything in knowledge.
99. Thus The One narrates to you reports of times gone by; and The One has
given you a message from The One’s Presence.
100. Whoever turns away from it will carry on the Day of Resurrection a
burden.
101. Abiding therein. And wretched is their burden on the Day of
Resurrection.
102. On the Day when The One blown to shape you— The One will gather the
sinners on that Day, blue-eyed.
103. Murmuring among themselves: “You have lingered not/only for
companion/ten.”
Lam-Ba-Tha = to delay, tarry, sojourn, to pause/wait/expect/stop/remain, was patient.
Alif-Lam-Waw = fall short of doing the requisite/flag/remiss, slow/tardy/languid/weak, did not leave/quit/cease from/omit/neglect, swear, possessor, one who
is superintended an affair, as far as/until, in addition to/joined to any other thing, to me, decreed against/revealed/on the
Ayn-Shiin-Ra = to take away a tenth part, make ten by adding one to nine, be the tenth. ashrun/asharun (f.), asharatun/ashratun (m.): ten, decade, period from
three to ten. After twenty there is no difference between feminine and masculine. ashara - to consort, live with, cultivate one's society, become familiar. ashirun
- companion, ashiratun - kindred, ma'sharun - company, race, multitude, who live in close communion with (pl. ashair).
104. The One are fully aware of what they say, when the most exemplary of
them in conduct will say, “You have lingered only for period of time/a
day.”
Ya-Waw-Miim = day, era, time, today, this/that day, age/period of time, rising of the sun till it's resting, accident or event.
105. And they ask you about the mountains. Say, “My Regulator will crumble
them utterly.”
106. And leave them desolate waste.
107. You will see in them neither crookedness, nor deviation.”
108. On that Day, they will follow the caller, without any deviation. Voices will
be hushed before the Merciful, and you will hear nothing but murmur.
109. On that Day, intercession will not avail, except for him permitted by the
Merciful, and whose words The One has approved.
110. The One knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they
cannot comprehend The One in their knowledge.
111. Faces will be humbled before the Living, the Eternal. Whoever carries
injustice will despair.
112. But whoever has done honest deeds, while being convinced—will fear
neither injustice, nor grievance.
113. Thus The One have revealed it an eloquent/Arabic Quran, and The One
have diversified the warnings in it, that perhaps they would become
honest, or it may produce a lesson for them.
114. Exalted is The One To Serve/Allah, the True Power/King. Do not be hasty
with the Quran before its inspiration to you is concluded, and say, “My
Regulator, increase me in knowledge.”
115. And The One covenanted with Adam before, but he forgot, and The One
found in him no resolve.
116. And when The One said to the Powerful Agents, “submit to Adam.” They
submitted, except for instinctive mind. He refused.
117. The One said, “O Adam, this is an enemy to you and to your partner. So
do not let him make you leave the pastoral vegetation/Garden, for then
you will suffer.
Jiim-Nun-Nun (root of jinn) = veiled/concealed/covered/hid/protected (e.g. cloth, armour, grave, shield), invisible, become dark/posessed, darkness of night,
bereft of reason, mad/insane/unsound in mind/intellect, confusedness. Become thick/full-grown/blossom, herbage, garden. Spiritual beings that conceal
themselves from the senses (including angels), become weak and abject, greater part of mankind, devil/demon, people who are peerless having no match or
equal, a being who is highly potent, sometimes refers to Kings because they are concealed from the common folk
118. In it you will never go hungry, nor be denude of garments/naked.
Ayn-Ra-Ya = to become naked, denude of (garments). ara - bare desert or place, open field, waste land, shore.
119. Nor will you be thirsty in it, nor will you swelter.”
120. But Sceptic mind whispered to him. He said, “O Adam, shall I show you
aversion of aging/tree of eternity and an authority that never ends/a
kingdom that never end?”
Shiin-Jiim-Ra = to avert, be a matter of controversy, dispute about, turn aside, thrust (with a spear), be disputed between. shajar alamru bainahun - the affair or
case became complicated and confused so as to be a subject of disagreement and difference between them. shajarun/shajaratun - tree, plant having a trunk or
stem, stock or origin of a person.
Kh-Lam-Dal = To remain/stay/dwell/abode, to remain or continue incessantly/always/endlessly/forever/perpetually, to adorn another with ornaments, to be
slow in becoming hoary (when advanced in age), endowed with perpetual vigour
Miim-Lam-Kaf = to rule/command/reign, be capable, to control, power/authority, king, kingdom.
Ba-Lam-Waw =Try, prove or test by good or evil. To become old and worn out, wear and tear, withered, decayed. Not caring, minding, heeding, regarding or
paying attention. Conferring favors, benefits or blessings. Swearing oaths, covenants. Informing, acquainting, revealing, manifesting, making apparent,
evident, clear or plain. Competing, striving or hastening
121. And so they were consumed/ate with gratuitous/from it showing open
enmity/so it become apparent verily due to their extremism/to them
their shame and they set about to be arrogant/began to fasten on
themselves from wealth/leaves of the pastoral vegetation/Garden. Thus
Adam disobeyed his Regulator, and erred.
Miim-Nun-Nun = To confer or bestow a benefit or favour to someone, to be bountiful or beneficent or gratuitous, to be reasonable (too reasonable to do that
which is deemed bad), min often means some of or among, min can be used in the sense of fi meaning in or on.
Ba-Dal-Waw = being apparent/open/manifest/plain/evident/shown. Desert/dwelling or abode in the desert, belonging/relating to the desert. Going to
encounter in battle or war/showing open enmity, hostility. Imitating people of the desert. In the first place, first of a thing. Truffles or dust on earth. Either side
of a valley. Various opinions arising in the mind.
lam = Negative particle giving to the present the sense of the perfect; not. Lam is a preposition: if with Fatha it implies stress like verily/surely or how excellent.
If with Kasra, it implies after, see link.
Siin-Waw-Alif = to treat badly, do evil to disgrace, be evil/wicked/vicious, ill, anything that makes a person sad and sorrowful, bad action, mischief and
corruption, sin, evil doer, wretched or grievous, vex, annoy. su'atun (pl. suat) - corpse, external portion of both sexes, shame.
Tay-Fa-Qaf = begin/start to do something, to take to doing something, to set about, commence/initiate, continue uninterruptedly.
Ayn-Lam-Waw = to be high, elevated, lofty, exalted, ascend, overcome, be proud/upon/over, go up, rise in rank or dignity, raise, take up, mount, overtop.
Waw-Ra-Qaf = to put forth leaves. waraqun is both sing. and pl. and is substantive noun from the verb waraqa. auraaq al-rajulu - the man became rich. warqun
- leaves, foliage, sheet of paper, sheet of metal, coinage, wealth, prime and freshness of a thing, young lads of a community, beauty of a thing.
122. But then his Regulator recalled him, and pardoned him, and guided him.
123. The One said, “Move places/Go away from it, altogether; some of you
hostile/enemies of others. But whenever guidance comes to you from
Me, whoever follows My guidance, will not go astray, nor suffer.
124. But whoever turns away from My Reminder, for him is a confined life.
And The One will raise him on the Day of Resurrection blind.”
125. He will say, “My Regulator, why did You raise me blind, though I was
seeing?”
126. The One will say, “Just as My revelations came to you, and you forgot
them, today you will be forgotten.”
127. Thus The One recompense him who transgresses and not convinced in
the revelations of his Regulator. The punishment of the Hereafter is
more severe, and more lasting.
128. Is it not instructive to them, how many generations before them The
One destroyed, in whose settlements they walk? Surely in that are
evidences for people of understanding.
129. Were it not for a word that issued from your Regulator, the inevitable
would have happened, but there is an appointed term uninterrupted.
130. So bear patiently what they say, and perform the gratitude for your
Regulator before the rising of the sun, and before its setting. And during
the hours of the night perform for The One, and at the borders of the
day, that you may be satisfied.
131. And do not extend your glance towards what The One have given some
classes of them to enjoy—the splendor of the life of this world—that The
One may test them thereby. Your Regulator’s provision is better and
more lasting.
132. And exhort your people for review/discussion, and patiently adhere to it.
The One ask of you no sustenance, but it is The One who sustains you.
The good ending is that for the honest.
133. And they say, “Why does he not bring us an indicator from his
Regulator?” Were they not given enough indicators in the former
scriptures?
134. Had The One destroyed them with a punishment before him, they would
have said, “Our Regulator, if only You had sent us a messenger, we
would have followed Your revelations before we were humiliated and
disgraced.”
135. Say, “Everybody is waiting, so wait. You will know who the people of the
systematic ways are, and who is rightly guided.

  • 1. TA-HA (Ta-Ha) By the reality of The One To Serve/Allah The Beneficient The Ever Giving. 1. O man/Ta, Ha. 2. The One did not reveal the Quran to you to make you suffer. 3. But only as a reminder for him who fears. 4. A revelation from The One who created the earth and the high universe. 5. The Most Merciful; on the trelis The One ruled. 6. To The One belongs everything in the universe and the earth, and everything between them, and everything beneath the soil. 7. If you speak aloud— The One knows the secret, and the most hidden. 8. The One To Serve/Allah, there is none to serve but The One, The One’s is the Most Beautiful Realities. 9. Has the story of Musa reached you? 10. When he saw a fire, he said to his family, “Stay; I have noticed a fire; Perhaps I can bring you a torch therefrom, or find some guidance by the fire.” 11. Then, when he reached it, he was called, “O Musa.
  • 2. 12. I am your Regulator. Go and pay blood money to cleanse yourself from worldly relations/Remove your shoes. Indeed, you pay blood money/you are in to be pure/sacred valley of and start anew/Tuwa. Kh-Lam-Ayn = To pull/strip/throw/cast something off, to be removed from or divested of, to forsake allegiance/obedience to someone, to repudiate or renounce someone, to ransom off, to contend with someone, to come off or fall off, become disjointed/seperated/displaced, to go away secretly, to annull/dissolve/break a pact or covenant, divorce one's wife for a ransom given by her, grow insane or diabolically possessed, to be gripped with weakness and fear/fright, say or do what one pleases (without care or fear of blame), play in games of hazard (for stakes laid by both players to be taken by the winner), to be of vitious or immoral conduct Nun-Ayn-Lam = to give shoes to anyone, covering underneath foot preventing contact with the ground, sole, sandal. The command in the verse 20:12 to take off your shoes can be taken as a metaphorical expression for making the heart vacant from worldly relations. Waw-Dal-Ya = to pay the blood money, pay a fine as expiation for human life, compensate for murder. Qaf-Dal-Siin = to be pure, holy, spotless. qudusun - purity, sanctity, holiness. al quddus - the holy one, one above and opposite to all evil, replete with positive good. muqaddas - sacred. An earthen or wooden pot. Tay-Waw-Ya = roll up, fold. This is interesting! -The One does not command ridiculous thing of removing shoes -there is no such place as sacred valley -how does The One forgave Musa from his mistake? -and absolve him from his crime? -remember the law The One put down -obey the law and there is a section -remember what Musa did -he killed a person -so how could he be a prophet if he is a criminal -compensatory payment (Diyya) -be paid to the family of the murdered person -where you pay ransom money to the family of the victim -so Musa had to do exactly that -there is no exception for Musa -The One is just and equitable Why the translation -I don’t know differed? -I dare not speculate 13. I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed. 14. I—I am The One To Serve/Allah. There is none to serve/no god but I. So serve Me, and carryout review/discussion/prayer for My remembrance. Alif-Lam-ha = to serve, worship or adore; to protect, grant refuge, preserve save, rescue, liberate; object of worship ie God; (Alif-Lam-Lam-ha) God, the one true God applied as a proper name denoting the true god, comprising all the excellent divine names; a unity comprising all the essences of existing things. Sad-Lam-Waw = prayer, supplication, petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnify, bring forth, follow closely, walk/follow behind closely, to remain attached. In a horse race when the second horse follows the first one so closely that its head always overlaps the first horse’s body that horse is called AL-MUSSALLI (i.e. the one who follows closely / remains attached). Central portion of the back, portion from where the tail of an animal comes out, the rump. 15. The Hour is coming—but I keep it almost hidden—so that each soul will be paid for what it endeavors. 16. And do not let him who denies it and follows his desire turn you away from it, lest you fall. 17. And what’s that your cause of blessing/right hand, O Musa?” Ya-Miim-Nun = right side, right, right hand, oath, bless, lead to the right, be a cause of blessing, prosperous/fortunate/lucky.

I lean upon them/bring down, and they crumbled easily/leaves, in them always cunning in the end/for my sheep and for me in it other uses other.” Ayn-Sad-Waw = to strike with a stick. asiya/ya'sa - to take a stick, come together, collection, accumulation, amazing, gathering, assemblage, congregation. asa - staff, stick, rod, supports, nation, mastery, people, party, tongue, skin, bone. idrib bi asaka al hajer - strike with your staff on the rock, go forth with your people. Waw-Kaf-Alif = to recline. Atawakka'u (impf. 1st. p. sing.): I lean. Muttaki'uuna/Muttaki'iina (acc. / ap-der. m. pl. vb. VIII): reclining upon. Muttaki'un (n. place and time. vb. 8): repast, place where one reclines, cushioned couch. ha-Shiin-Shiin = to beat down the leaves of a tree, it (a thing) was or became soft/yielding/slack/uncompact/crummy/fragile or easily or quickly broken. Gh-Nun-Miim = obtained, got, took (usually in reference to spoils or booties); acquisition without difficulties, succeed without trouble, regaining, sheep or goats collected together, numerous flock. Alif-Ra-Ba = He was, or became, cunning, characterized by intelligence with craft and forecast, or simply intelligent, excellent in judgment, sagacious, and knowing in affairs; He became excellent, or skilful, in the thing, or he became accustomed to, practised or exercised in, the thing, and became knowing, or skilful (therein); He devoted, or addicted himself, or cleaved or kept to a thing; he was, or became, niggardly, avaricious, or tenacious, of a thing. His member or limb (generally meaning the arm or hand) was cut off or dropped off; his members or limbs (generally relating to the members or fingers) of the arm or hand dropped off one after the other in consequence of a certain disease (usually termed jeem-dhal-alif-meem); A member, a distinct part of the animal body, a limb; expert skillful Alif-Kha-Ra = go backwards, retreat/recede/retire, hold back/delay/postpone/defer, last/back part of a thing. Another, other, 2nd. 19. The One said, “Face/throw it down it, O Musa.” Lam-Qaf-Ya = To meet, meet with, encounter, find, find out a thing, see, come across, experience, suffer from, occur, undergo, endure, lean upon, receive, come face to face, go in the direction of or towards. 20. So he faced/threw it down it—thereupon they are full of shamefulness/a snake and striving at it/moving swiftly. Ha-Ya-Ya = (a doubly imperfect verb) To live, be alive, be ashamed, spend (the night) awake, fertilize the earth, keep anyone alive; spare any one, let anyone alive, remove prudency, modesty and shamefulness, make immodest, To be in good condition, have the means of subsistence, to be apparent or distinct, have prolonged or preserved life, free from evil or harm, have dominion, be honored, receive benefit, to salute, to enliven/revive/give life to, to nourish, vivify/re- vivify/revive/resuscitate, endue/quicken with life, (said of land) to be tilled and made productive, to remain awake, to shrink from a thing, to forbear, to feel or have a sense of or be moved or affected with shame/shyness/bashfulness, be ashamed/shy of doing a thing, disdain or scorn a thing, abstain from a thing/refuse to do it. Siin-Ayn-Ya = he walked or went along, to strive/exert/labour/work, go quickly, effort, endeavour, hasten/act/run, be active, diligent, age of running or work and assist (child). 21. The One said, “Master/seize it them, and do not fear. The One will revert them to their former situation/return to former state. Alif-Kha-Dhal = to take in one's hand, received/acquired, derived/deduced/admitted, accepted, accept a covenant, affected/influenced, overpowering influence, take captive, gain mastery, slew/destroy, captivate/fascinate. Kh-Waw-Fa = To fear, to be afraid/frightened/terrified, to put fear into another, diminish or lessen or take from, to take little by little from a thing, take from the sides of a thing, slaughter or fight. Ayn-Waw-Dal = to return, turn away, come back, repeat, restore. aidun - one who returns. ma'adun - place where one returns, another name of Makkah. a'ada (vb. 4) - to cause to return, restore. The verb a'ada is transitive to mean to get someone return or cause to return or bring back (what has passed away) Siin-Ya-Ra = to go, travel, be current, move, journey. sairun - the act of giving, journey. siratun - state/condition, make/form. sayyaratun - company of travellers, caravan. Alif-Waw-Lam - To return, be before, come back to. To interpret [by consideration], explain. To contract, withdraw, become. To preside over, hold command or authority. To come to be. To put in a proper state/condition, or to compose [an affair]. To resort to; namely [a thing of any kind; the thing or place whence he or it originated, or came. His or its origin or source; his or its original state, condition, quantity, weight; any place. A former action, saying, or the like]. To return or restore to [ a thing, place, or disposition]. To explain, expound, interpret [collecting the meanings of dubious expressions by such expression as is clear, or plain, without dubiousness]. To explain the meaning of that which is equivocal or ambiguous. To be seen from a distance. 22. And be gentle with your authority to lower your wings conspicuous in your domain/draw near your hand to your side do not treat them badly/without any disease— another indication/sign. Dad-Miim-Miim = Drew, put, brought, gathered together. Collected or contracted a thing to a thing. Be gentle, courteous, easy to deal with or compliant. Grasped, took. Drew near or close. Became conjoined, accompanied, comprised. Severe calamity or misfortune. A thing or thread, string, cord, or the like, by means of which one thing is drawn, and joined, or adjoined, to another thing. A lion that grasps everything. Angry, daring, bold (applied to a man). Any valley [flowing with water] along which one goes between two long hills of the kind termed akamat. Niggardly in the utmost degree. One who takes, or gets, everything within his grasp, drawing it to himself. One who eats much, has an inordinate appetite for food, who appropriates to himself exclusively of others. A company or collection of men not of one stock, but of different tribes mixed together. A place of assembling (of military forces). Lean or slander in the belly (as though one part thereof were drawn and adjoined to another). Ya-Dal-Ya = to touch, aid, do good, be beneficent, show power and superiority, a hand. By his agency/means. With a willing hand, out of hand, having financial ability. In acknowledgement of the superior power, in ready money and not in the form of deferred payment, considering it as a favour, on account of help, (payment should be made by the hand of the parties themselves without the intervention of a third party and without reluctance. baina yadaihi - before him, in his presence hit, between his two hands. ulill aidi - men of power (lit. gifted with hands) suqaita fi aidihim (idiomatic expression) they repented, the idea seems to be that they hit their fingers in grief and contrition. Handy, Might, Power, Superiority, Benefit, Possession, Favour, Generosity. The idea behind those
  • 4. expressions is that the use of the hand is the real source of the superiority and power. Under his authority, upper hand, arm, foreleg of a beast, handle of a tool, wing of a bird. ma qaddamat yada - that is what thou hast deserved. Jiim-Nun-Ha = to lean/incline, to bend/stoop, side. ribs of the breast, upper/anterior ribs next to the breast/heart (so-called because they incline over the heart), something one uses to lean on/to one side (upper-arm, shoulder, elbow, hand), wing/power, "lower your wing" is an idiomatic metaphor for. ove/tenderness/humility, evocative of a bird that lovingly spreads its wings over its offspring in the nest, shadow/shelter/protection, armpit, assistant, going quickly/swiftly (said of an animal due to them leaning forward as they run), a sin or crime, act of disobedience/blame. Kh-Ra-Jiim = To go out, go forth, depart, evade/escape/extricate oneself from, to quit/forsake, to rebel, to be foul or obscene, conspicuous, be clear (as in clear sky as opposed to cloudy), to resolve/explain/render, educate/discipline/train well, render a thing of two mixtures (such as two colors, black and white, or to write upon part of a tablet and leave part of it blank), make a thing to be of different kinds, contribute to a thing or cause, make an agreement, extort/extract/produce/elicit, to exclude something or someone, to vent, surpass or excel, outstrip others, be external/extrinsic/objective. Ba-Ya-Dad =White, becoming white. Surpassing in whiteness, superiority in whiteness (e.g. whiteness of day/daylight). An egg of any bird or like an egg (also used metaphorically). Whitening something, bleaching or whitewashing. Territory, place, quarter, tract, region, district, portions that belong to some people. Bulb of the saffron plant. Container or receptacle. Principle place of abode, seat of power, heart of the dominion. White smooth land Siin-Waw-Alif = to treat badly, do evil to disgrace, be evil/wicked/vicious, ill, anything that makes a person sad and sorrowful, bad action, mischief and corruption, sin, evil doer, wretched or grievous, vex, annoy. su'atun (pl. suat) - corpse, external portion of both sexes, shame. Alif-Ya-Waw = sign, apparent sign, mark, indication, message, evidence, proof, miracle, communication, verse of The Quran. It properly signifies any apparent thing inseparable from a thing not equally apparent so that when one perceives the former, he perceives the other which he cannot perceive by itself. Alif-Kha-Ra = go backwards, retreat/recede/retire, hold back/delay/postpone/defer, last/back part of a thing. Another, other, 2nd. 23. That The One may show you some of The One’s greatest Indication. 24. Go to The Wicked; He has transgressed.” 25. He said, “My Regulator, put my heart at peace for me. 26. And ease my task for me. 27. And untie the knot from my tongue. 28. So they can understand my speech. 29. And appoint an assistant for me, from my family. 30. Harun, my brother. 31. Strengthen me with him. 32. And have him share in my mission 33. That we may perform for You much. 34. And remember You much.
  • 5. 35. You are always watching over us.” 36. The One said, “You are granted your request, O Musa. 37. The One had favored you another time. 38. When The One inspired your mother with the inspiration. 39. `Put him in the chest; then cast him into the river. The river will wash him to shore, where an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his will pick him up. And I have bestowed upon you love from Me, so that you may be reared before My eye. 40. When your sister walked along, and said, ‘shall I tell you about someone who will take care of him?' So The One returned you to your mother, that she may be comforted, and not sorrow. And you killed a person, but The One saved you from stress; and The One tested you thoroughly. And you stayed years among the people of Median. Then you came back, as ordained, O Musa. 41. And I made you for Myself. 42. Go, you and your brother, with My indicators, and do not neglect My remembrance. 43. Go to The Wicked/Firaun. He has tyrannized. 44. But speak to him nicely. Perhaps he will remember, or have some fear.”
  • 6. 45. They said, “Regulator, we fear he may persecute us, or become violent.” 46. The One said, “Do not fear, I am with you, I hear and I see. 47. Approach him and say, `We are the messengers of your Regulator; so let the bonded/Israel go with us, and do not torment them. We bring you indicators from your Regulator, and peace be upon him who follows guidance. 48. It was revealed to us that the punishment falls upon him who are not convinced and turns away.'“ 49. He said, “Who is your Regulator, O Musa.” 50. He said, “Our Regulator is The One who gave everything its existence, then guided it.” 51. He said, “What about the first generations?” 52. He said, “Knowledge thereof is with my Regulator, in a Book. My Regulator never errs, nor does The One forget.” 53. The One who made the earth a habitat for you; and traced in it routes for you; and sent down water from the sky, with which The One produce pairs of diverse plants. 54. Eat and pasture your livestock. In that are evidences for those with understanding.
  • 7. 55. From it The One created you, and into it The One will return you, and from it The One will bring you out another time. 56. The One showed him The One’s evidences, all of them, but he denied and refused. 57. He said, “Did you come to us to drive us out of our land with your skillful eloquence/magic, O Musa? 58. We will produce for your skillful eloquence/magic like it; so make an appointment between us and you, which we will not miss—neither us, nor you—in a central place.” Siin-Ha-Ra = To turn it/him from his course, way, or manner of being. The turning of a thing from its proper manner of being to another. Lane says that "He (an enchanter) apparently turned the thing from its proper manner of being, making what was false to appear in the form of the true, or real; causing the thing to be imagined different from what it really was." To deceive, delude, beguile, or outwit. The producing what is false in the form of truth. Embellishment by falsification and deceit. A kind of enchantment, or fascination which captivates the eye and the like. Skillful eloquence [something which is praiseworthy]. Early in the morning, or the first part of day (the time of), a little before daybreak, or the false dawn. Whiteness overspreading blackness. Food marred or spoilt. Having little milk, or large in her udder but having little milk. To guild, fascinate, bewitch, wheedle, turn anyone from, enchant, practice sorcery, hoax, deprive of understanding. 59. He said, “Your appointment is the day of the festival, so let the people be gathered together at mid-morning.” 60. The Wicked/Firaun turned away, put together his plan, and then came back. 61. Musa said to them, “Woe to you. Do not fabricate lies against The One To Serve/Allah, or The One will destroy you with a punishment. He who invents lies will fail.” 62. They disagreed among themselves over their affair, and conferred secretly. 63. They said, “These two are eloquent orator/magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their skillful eloquence/magic, and to abolish your exemplary way of life.
  • 8. 64. So settle your plan, and come as one front. Today, whoever gains the upper hand will succeed.” 65. They said, “O Musa, either you come forward/throw, or we will come forward/be the first to throw.” Lam-Qaf-Ya = To meet, meet with, encounter, find, find out a thing, see, come across, experience, suffer from, occur, undergo, endure, lean upon, recieve, come face to face, go in the direction of or towards. 66. He said, “Nay, you come forward/throw.” And then behold/suddenly, their entrapment/ropes and mastery/sticks surmised him/appeared to him, because of their skillful eloquent/magic, as he goes along/to be crawling swiftly. Ha-Ba-Lam = tie/fasten with rope, rope/cord, covenant, a thing by means of which one snares/catches/snares, obtaining an assurance/promise of safety, snare, to entrap, to captivate, being pregnant/full, bond, cause of union, link of connexion, marriage, carotid artery, jugular vein, calamity/misfortune, a foetus in the womb, grapevine, one who binds, crisped/plaited/rope-like hair (e.g. that of Ethiopians). Ayn-Sad-Waw = to strike with a stick. asiya/ya'sa - to take a stick, come together, collection, accumulation, amazing, gathering, assemblage, congregation. asa - staff, stick, rod, supports, nation, mastery, people, party, tongue, skin, bone. idrib bi asaka al hajer - strike with your staff on the rock, go forth with your people. Kh-Ya-Lam = To think or have an opinion of a thing, surmise or fancy a thing, limp or halt, slightly lame, image a thing (form an image) in the mind, perceive or discover, convey doubt or suspicion, to be cowardly or weak-hearted on the occassion of a fight [and thus do not act/proceed firmly or steadily], hold back from people or a party through cowardice, vie with/rival/imitate someone (do as he does) in pride and self-conceit, dubious/confused/vague, become abundant in plants or herbage (land), go on or away, act with a penetrative energy (being quick), behave proudly or haughtily, walk with pride or self-conceit, weak in heart and body, free from an attachment of love (having no spouse). Siin-Ha-Ra = To turn it/him from his course, way, or manner of being. The turning of a thing from its proper manner of being to another. Lane says that "He (an enchanter) apparently turned the thing from its proper manner of being, making what was false to appear in the form of the true, or real; causing the thing to be imagined different from what it really was." Now come forward/throw down with what leads to righteousness/is in your right hand—it will crumble/swallow what they have crafted. What they have crafted is only a skillful eloquent/magician to deceive/trickery. But the skillful eloquent orator/magician will not succeed, no matter what he does.” Ya-Miim-Nun = right side, right, right hand, oath, bless, lead to the right, be a cause of blessing, prosperous/fortunate/lucky. Lam-Qaf-Fa = To catch up hurriedly, seize, swallow up quickly, destroy, undo, eat up, catch and retain, collapse, fall upon the enemy, crumble down. Sad-Nun-Ayn = to make/do/create/build, work a thing, nourish, bring up. sun'un - an act, that which is done. masna'un (pl. masani) - cistern, palace, citadel, fine building, fortress. san'atun - making, art of making. Kaf-Ya-Dal (Kaf-Alif-Dal) = To be about to, be just on the point of, be well nigh, intend, wish, practise an artful device, desire, contrive/plot/devise such a thing, worked or laboured at or upon anything, to do something clandestinely, to deceive/beguile/circumvent, means of evading/eluding, vomited, emitted fire, had menstrual flux, gave up his spirit.
  • 9. 70. So the skillful eloquents endure humble adoration/and the enchanter/magicians fell down. They said, “We are convinced in the Regulator of Harun and Musa.” Lam-Qaf-Ya = To meet, meet with, encounter, find, find out a thing, see, come across, experience, suffer from, occur, undergo, endure, lean upon, recieve, come face to face, go in the direction of or towards. Siin-Jiim-Dal = lowly, humble, submissive, worship, adore, prostrate, make obeisance, lower/bend oneself down towards the ground, lower the head, to salute/honour/magnify, to pay respect, to stand up, to look continuedly and tranquily. MSJD - parts of a man that are the places of SJD, e.g. forehead/nose/hands/knees/feet etc. Any mode/place/practice in which the act of SJD is done. 71. He said, “were you convinced in him before I have given you permission? He must be your chief, who has taught you skillful eloquents/magic. I will cut off your hands and your feet on alternate sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of the palm-trees. Then you will know which of us is more severe in punishment, and more lasting.” 72. They said, “We will not prefer you to the proofs that have come to us, and The One who created us. So issue whatever judgment you wish to issue. You can only rule in this lowly life. 73. We are convinced in our Regulator, so that The One may forgive us our sins, and the skillful eloquents you have compelled us to practice. The One To Serve/Allah is better, and lasting.” 74. Whoever comes to his Regulator guilty, for him is Hell, where he neither dies nor lives. 75. But whoever comes to The One and are convinced, having productive work—these will have the highest ranks. 76. The Gardens of Perpetuity, beneath which rivers flow, staying therein. That is the reward for him who purifies himself.
  • 10. 77. And The One inspired Musa: “Travel by night with My servants, and strike for them a dry path across the water, not fearing being overtaken, nor worrying.” 78. The Wicked pursued them with his troops, but the water overwhelmed them, and completely engulfed them. 79. The Wicked misled his people, and did not guide them. 80. O bonded people/Israel! The One have uplift you to be superior in your action as cause for blessing/delivered you from your enemy, and promised you by the right side of the Mount and sent down to you manna and quails. Jiim-Nun-Ba = To break or hit or hurt one's side, to lead one by his side, place or put a thing aside, to remove or send a thing far away or far off, estrange or alienate someone, descend and abode/settle as a stranger among people, to be remote/distant/far off/aloof from someone, shun or avoid someone, alienate or estrange oneself from someone, to be under the obligation of performing a total bath or ablution (by reason of sexual intercourse and semenal discharge), to be lateral or adjacent to someone or to a thing, walk by the side of another, to be gentle/compliant/easy to deal with, to be much of. Tay-Waw-Ra = went or hovered round about it, approach, time or one time, repeated times, quantity/measure/extent/limit, aspect/form/disposition, way of action, manner, kind/class, stage/state, Mount Sinai, Mount of Olives, applied to several other mountains, mountain which produces trees, mountain, wild or to estrange oneself from mankind, stranger, utmost point, encounter two extremes. Ya-Miim-Nun = right side, right, right hand, oath, bless, lead to the right, be a cause of blessing, prosperous/fortunate/lucky. 81. Eat of the good things The One have provided for you, but do not be excessive therein, lest My wrath descends upon you. He, upon whom My wrath descends, has fallen. 82. And I am Forgiving towards him who returns, are convinced, acts honestly, and then remains guided. 83. “And what made you rush ahead of your people, O Musa?” 84. He said, “They are following in my footsteps; and I hurried on to You, my Regulator, that you may be pleased.” 85. The One said, “The One put probation/have tested on your people in your absence, and Samiri misled them.” Fa-Ta-Nun = to try or prove, persecute, burn, assay, put into affliction, distress and hardship, slaughter, cause to err, seduce from faith by any means, mislead, sow dissension or difference of opinion, mischief, put in confusion, punish, give reply or excuse, tempt, lead to temptation, make an attempt upon, seduce. fitnatun - persecution, trial, probation, burning, assaying, reply, excuse, war, means whereby the condition of a person is evinced in respect of good or evil, hardship, punishment, answer, temptation, burning with fire.
  • 11. 86. So Musa returned to his people, angry and disappointed. He said, “O my people, did your Regulator not promise you a good promise? Was the time too long for you? Or did you want wrath from your Regulator to descend upon you, so you broke your promise to me?” 87. They said, “We did not break our promise to you by our choice, but we were made to carry loads of the people’s ornaments, and we cast them in. That was what Samiri suggested.” 88. So he produced for them a calf—a mere body with a lowing sound. And they said, “This is yours to serve/god, and object to serve/god of Musa, but he has forgotten.” Alif-Lam-ha = to serve, worship or adore; to protect, grant refuge, preserve save, rescue, liberate; object of worship ie God; (Alif-Lam-Lam-ha) God, the one true God applied as a proper name denoting the true god, comprising all the excellent divine names; a unity comprising all the essences of existing things. 89. Did they not see that it cannot return a word to them, and has no power to harm them or benefit them? 90. Harun had said to them before, “O my people, you are on probation by this. And your Regulator is the Merciful, so follow me, and obey my command.” 91. They said, “We will not give up our devotion to it, until Musa returns to us.” 92. He said, “O Harun, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray. 93. From following me? Did you disobey my command?”
  • 12. 94. He said, “Son of my mother, do not seize me by my beard or my head. I feared you would say, `You have caused division among the bonded people/Israel, and did not regard my word.'“ 95. He said, “What do you have to say, O Samiri?” 96. He said, “I saw what they did not perceived/see, so I grasped a handful from the Messenger’s narration/traces, and I rejected it/flung it away. Thus my pride/soul deceived/prompted me.” Ba-Sad-Ra =Becoming perceptive, mental perception, having belief or knowledge, understanding, intelligence or skill, knowing, giving light, shining, illuminated, making manifest, evident and/or apparent. To behold/perceive/see/observe/watch. Opening the eyes and/or seeing (seldom used unless mental perception is conjoined). Clear sight. Thickness of anything. Sense of sight, making or causing to see and/or have sight, eye-sight, eyes. Soft stones having some whiteness. Intent or a hard glance. A watcher or guard, a lion. Qaf-Ba-Daad = take with hand by actual touch/feel, close, grasp, clutch, seize, contract/draw/collect together, take posession, with reference to birds = contract their wings, quick in flight/pace. Alif-Tha-Ra = to relate, narrate, recite, choose, propose, transmit, raise, prefer, effect, excite. To stir up, to trump up. Determined/resolved/decided upon a thing. Origin, time/period of life. Dearth, scarcity, drought or sterility. An iron instrument with which the bottom of a camel's foot is marked, or a camel with such a mark. A generous quality/action (e.g. passed down from generation to generation). athar means after, footstep/trace/mark/track/remnant/tradition/teaching, impression/influence, stamp/scar, remains, relics of knowledge transmitted, sunnah, vestige, print, memorial of antiquity. (i.e. that which is left behind from something) Nun-Ba-Dhal/Thal = to throw, fling, give up, cast off, reject, throw a thing because of its worthlessness or not taking into account. Siin-Waw-Lam = to delude, entice, contrive, suggest, prepare, embellish, deceive, lead one to error. Nun-Fa-Siin = was or became high in estimation, of high account or excellent, highly prized/precious/valuable and therefore desired with much emulation or much request, desired, it became loved or highly esteemed, console, cheer, envy. Was or became avaricious/tenacious/niggardly of it because of its being in high estimation or excellent, little to much good. Brought forth (e.g. gave birth to a child), menstruated, blood. Clear away grief/anxiety/sorrow, ease/relieve, delay. Breath, gust, drew breath, sigh, spoke long (due to regular intake of breath), become extended/long/increased, ability. Soul/spirit, the vital principle, intellect/reason/mind, inner desire or feeling, knowledge, pride, self-magnification, a state where there is ample scope for action, 'willingly' when used as adverb, nafs - soul of discrimination (mental) and ruh - soul of breath (physical), oneself/itself, whole, essential constituent, reality, sometimes ghayb and nafs are synonymous, a person/being/individual, quantity, man, life, soul + body, life-blood, body, contention/thought/face/substance, heart, stomach, gulp, drought. Brother or co-partner in faith/religion/relationship. Wide space, distance, width. Greatness, nobility, glory, scarcity, absoluteness, unseen, hidden reality which is beyond human perception, intention, requital, punishment. 97. He said, “Be gone! Your lot in this life is to say, ‘touch me not.’ And you have an appointment that you will not miss. Now look at thing that you served that you remained devoted to—we will burn it up, and then blow it away into the sea, as powder.” Miim-Siin-Siin = To meet or touch or feel a thing with the hand, touch a thing without intervention or interference, strike or smite, afflict or befall, be distressing or difficult of accomplishment. 98. Surely you are to serve The One To Serve/Allah, The One besides whom there is none to serve. The One comprehends everything in knowledge. 99. Thus The One narrates to you reports of times gone by; and The One has given you a message from The One’s Presence. 100. Whoever turns away from it will carry on the Day of Resurrection a burden.
  • 13. 101. Abiding therein. And wretched is their burden on the Day of Resurrection. 102. On the Day when The One blown to shape you— The One will gather the sinners on that Day, blue-eyed. 103. Murmuring among themselves: “You have lingered not/only for companion/ten.” Lam-Ba-Tha = to delay, tarry, sojourn, to pause/wait/expect/stop/remain, was patient. Alif-Lam-Waw = fall short of doing the requisite/flag/remiss, slow/tardy/languid/weak, did not leave/quit/cease from/omit/neglect, swear, possessor, one who is superintended an affair, as far as/until, in addition to/joined to any other thing, to me, decreed against/revealed/on the Ayn-Shiin-Ra = to take away a tenth part, make ten by adding one to nine, be the tenth. ashrun/asharun (f.), asharatun/ashratun (m.): ten, decade, period from three to ten. After twenty there is no difference between feminine and masculine. ashara - to consort, live with, cultivate one's society, become familiar. ashirun - companion, ashiratun - kindred, ma'sharun - company, race, multitude, who live in close communion with (pl. ashair). 104. The One are fully aware of what they say, when the most exemplary of them in conduct will say, “You have lingered only for period of time/a day.” Ya-Waw-Miim = day, era, time, today, this/that day, age/period of time, rising of the sun till it's resting, accident or event. 105. And they ask you about the mountains. Say, “My Regulator will crumble them utterly.” 106. And leave them desolate waste. 107. You will see in them neither crookedness, nor deviation.” 108. On that Day, they will follow the caller, without any deviation. Voices will be hushed before the Merciful, and you will hear nothing but murmur. 109. On that Day, intercession will not avail, except for him permitted by the Merciful, and whose words The One has approved. 110. The One knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend The One in their knowledge.
  • 14. 111. Faces will be humbled before the Living, the Eternal. Whoever carries injustice will despair. 112. But whoever has done honest deeds, while being convinced—will fear neither injustice, nor grievance. 113. Thus The One have revealed it an eloquent/Arabic Quran, and The One have diversified the warnings in it, that perhaps they would become honest, or it may produce a lesson for them. 114. Exalted is The One To Serve/Allah, the True Power/King. Do not be hasty with the Quran before its inspiration to you is concluded, and say, “My Regulator, increase me in knowledge.” 115. And The One covenanted with Adam before, but he forgot, and The One found in him no resolve. 116. And when The One said to the Powerful Agents, “submit to Adam.” They submitted, except for instinctive mind. He refused. 117. The One said, “O Adam, this is an enemy to you and to your partner. So do not let him make you leave the pastoral vegetation/Garden, for then you will suffer. Jiim-Nun-Nun (root of jinn) = veiled/concealed/covered/hid/protected (e.g. cloth, armour, grave, shield), invisible, become dark/posessed, darkness of night, bereft of reason, mad/insane/unsound in mind/intellect, confusedness. Become thick/full-grown/blossom, herbage, garden. Spiritual beings that conceal themselves from the senses (including angels), become weak and abject, greater part of mankind, devil/demon, people who are peerless having no match or equal, a being who is highly potent, sometimes refers to Kings because they are concealed from the common folk 118. In it you will never go hungry, nor be denude of garments/naked. Ayn-Ra-Ya = to become naked, denude of (garments). ara - bare desert or place, open field, waste land, shore. 119. Nor will you be thirsty in it, nor will you swelter.”
  • 15. 120. But Sceptic mind whispered to him. He said, “O Adam, shall I show you aversion of aging/tree of eternity and an authority that never ends/a kingdom that never end?” Shiin-Jiim-Ra = to avert, be a matter of controversy, dispute about, turn aside, thrust (with a spear), be disputed between. shajar alamru bainahun - the affair or case became complicated and confused so as to be a subject of disagreement and difference between them. shajarun/shajaratun - tree, plant having a trunk or stem, stock or origin of a person. Kh-Lam-Dal = To remain/stay/dwell/abode, to remain or continue incessantly/always/endlessly/forever/perpetually, to adorn another with ornaments, to be slow in becoming hoary (when advanced in age), endowed with perpetual vigour Miim-Lam-Kaf = to rule/command/reign, be capable, to control, power/authority, king, kingdom. Ba-Lam-Waw =Try, prove or test by good or evil. To become old and worn out, wear and tear, withered, decayed. Not caring, minding, heeding, regarding or paying attention. Conferring favors, benefits or blessings. Swearing oaths, covenants. Informing, acquainting, revealing, manifesting, making apparent, evident, clear or plain. Competing, striving or hastening 121. And so they were consumed/ate with gratuitous/from it showing open enmity/so it become apparent verily due to their extremism/to them their shame and they set about to be arrogant/began to fasten on themselves from wealth/leaves of the pastoral vegetation/Garden. Thus Adam disobeyed his Regulator, and erred. Miim-Nun-Nun = To confer or bestow a benefit or favour to someone, to be bountiful or beneficent or gratuitous, to be reasonable (too reasonable to do that which is deemed bad), min often means some of or among, min can be used in the sense of fi meaning in or on. Ba-Dal-Waw = being apparent/open/manifest/plain/evident/shown. Desert/dwelling or abode in the desert, belonging/relating to the desert. Going to encounter in battle or war/showing open enmity, hostility. Imitating people of the desert. In the first place, first of a thing. Truffles or dust on earth. Either side of a valley. Various opinions arising in the mind. lam = Negative particle giving to the present the sense of the perfect; not. Lam is a preposition: if with Fatha it implies stress like verily/surely or how excellent. If with Kasra, it implies after, see link. Siin-Waw-Alif = to treat badly, do evil to disgrace, be evil/wicked/vicious, ill, anything that makes a person sad and sorrowful, bad action, mischief and corruption, sin, evil doer, wretched or grievous, vex, annoy. su'atun (pl. suat) - corpse, external portion of both sexes, shame. Tay-Fa-Qaf = begin/start to do something, to take to doing something, to set about, commence/initiate, continue uninterruptedly. Ayn-Lam-Waw = to be high, elevated, lofty, exalted, ascend, overcome, be proud/upon/over, go up, rise in rank or dignity, raise, take up, mount, overtop. Waw-Ra-Qaf = to put forth leaves. waraqun is both sing. and pl. and is substantive noun from the verb waraqa. auraaq al-rajulu - the man became rich. warqun - leaves, foliage, sheet of paper, sheet of metal, coinage, wealth, prime and freshness of a thing, young lads of a community, beauty of a thing. 122. But then his Regulator recalled him, and pardoned him, and guided him. 123. The One said, “Move places/Go away from it, altogether; some of you hostile/enemies of others. But whenever guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance, will not go astray, nor suffer. 124. But whoever turns away from My Reminder, for him is a confined life. And The One will raise him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” 125. He will say, “My Regulator, why did You raise me blind, though I was seeing?”
  • 16. 126. The One will say, “Just as My revelations came to you, and you forgot them, today you will be forgotten.” 127. Thus The One recompense him who transgresses and not convinced in the revelations of his Regulator. The punishment of the Hereafter is more severe, and more lasting. 128. Is it not instructive to them, how many generations before them The One destroyed, in whose settlements they walk? Surely in that are evidences for people of understanding. 129. Were it not for a word that issued from your Regulator, the inevitable would have happened, but there is an appointed term uninterrupted. 130. So bear patiently what they say, and perform the gratitude for your Regulator before the rising of the sun, and before its setting. And during the hours of the night perform for The One, and at the borders of the day, that you may be satisfied. 131. And do not extend your glance towards what The One have given some classes of them to enjoy—the splendor of the life of this world—that The One may test them thereby. Your Regulator’s provision is better and more lasting. 132. And exhort your people for review/discussion, and patiently adhere to it. The One ask of you no sustenance, but it is The One who sustains you. The good ending is that for the honest. 133. And they say, “Why does he not bring us an indicator from his Regulator?” Were they not given enough indicators in the former scriptures?
  • 17. 134. Had The One destroyed them with a punishment before him, they would have said, “Our Regulator, if only You had sent us a messenger, we would have followed Your revelations before we were humiliated and disgraced.” 135. Say, “Everybody is waiting, so wait. You will know who the people of the systematic ways are, and who is rightly guided.
