Red Tacton is a new human area networking technology that uses the human body's electric field to transmit data wirelessly. It was developed by NTT in Japan in 2005 and allows for high-speed communication through touch. Red Tacton transceivers convert electric field changes on the body surface into signals using photonic sensors and electro-optic crystals. It provides intuitive, secure networking within a short range through basic human movements and interactions. While promising for applications requiring fast, convenient connections, Red Tacton is currently limited by range, cost, and lack of compelling uses.
