The BIS is one of the oldest financial institutions in the world located in Basel, Switzerland. From 2014 to 2016, Stephane Ostertag worked as a security guard for the Corporate Security Department of the BIS. His main responsibilities included access control, monitoring security systems, and responding to incidents. The BIS is the oldest international financial organisation of the world, founded in 1930 and is
located in Basel, Switzerland. The staff comes from over 55 countries and global customers
visit the BIS regularly for meetings, this is the reason why the daily working language is
English.
Stephane worked for the Corporate Security- Operations & Intervention from 14.10.2014
until 30.11.2016. The main responsibility of the Security Officer is to protect people,
perimeter and assets of the Bank. The daily work is access control, monitoring of security
systems and intervention to incidents in 24/ 7 shift duty with a high demand on customer
service. The team consists of around 40 people, BIS staff and contractors from Protectas and
Securitas.
Stephane has good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independent, his French,
German and English skills helped him to do a very good job. In day to day business he was
always on time, he provided professional security and safety services and showed a strong
sense of dedication to his duties. He was always supportive to colleagues and he was a good
team player. Stephane is qualified in CPR and the use of AED’s and attended a course for
firefighting with the Basel Fire Brigade.
Stephane is leaving us because he resigned his job at Protectas, I wish him the very best for
his future career.

2. Recommendation Letter
From 14th October 2014 until 31st November 2016, Mr Stephane Ostertag worked as a security
guard in the Corporate Security Dept of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel.
The BIS is one of the oldest financial institutions in the world and operates in various areas of
banking.
The main tasks of the security services of the BIS are the Security/Safety of their employees and
visitors, as well as the access control to the different buildings in the Basel area.
For many years, the BIS security service has been supported by external security companies such as
Protectas.
In order to be able to join the security service, a rigorous selection procedure is carried out, in which
the specialist knowledge, the Minimum Proof of Security and Surveillance (FSB Diploma) or
equivalent, the appearance and forms of contact, as well as knowledge of the German and English
language are examined.
If the selection is successful, the successful candidate will be prepared for his new tasks by
experienced security staff
After successful completion of the introductory phase, the employee works independently at the
various entrances and in the Security centre of the BIS.
Stephane Ostertag was presented to us in 2014 as a potential candidate for our security service by
the company Protectas.
During his more than two-year term in the BIS, Stephane Ostertag has always fulfilled
conscientiously and professionally his duties.
