2. Search and Selection in Financial Services
Oliver James Associates is a market leading search and selection consultancy operating exclusively within the international financial services
industry. While our business was initially established in 2002 as a niche supplier of skilled professionals to the Insurance and Asset
Management industries within the UK, we have grown organically, consistently and successfully since then across the broader financial
services sector. More specifically, over the past four years we have further developed our international presence into Switzerland, Germany,
Benelux and Asia.
Each Senior Consultant is a vertical market specialist within their chosen discipline and has developed an extensive network of contacts
across all sizes of business. Our team is made up of three Senior Consultants supported by three Researchers and between us we speak a
combination of fluent German, French, English and Dutch.
3. Search and Selection in Financial Services
We entered the German market in response to two main areas of weakness within the financial services recruitment sector:
1. Low employment turnover results in a lack of talent available for mid-senior level roles;
2. The supply gap between the top-end reach of most contingency recruitment firms and the bottom-end reach of most search firms
results in poor quality of service being delivered in the 80,000 to 140,000 salary range.
Oliver James Associates satisfy these needs by:
1. Passive German Market: proactively reaching out to build relationships with high calibre individuals who are not actively looking for a
new role, but are receptive to being presented with their next logical career step. Our Research team is mapping out the entire German
market, enabling us to present the highest calibre local talent for our clients;
2. Client Focus: building value-added relationships with a handful of carefully selected Financial Services providers and ring-fencing the
rest of the market as a source of candidates so that our clients have access to key talent from their key competitors;

identify talent in the UK, Benelux, German or Asia Pacific financial services markets. This gives our German clients access to a global
candidate pool and we are experienced at introducing professionals that are open to relocation to Germany.

Understanding Actuaries and the insurance markets very well, we have built a vast network throughout the UK, Ireland, Belgium,
Netherlands, Germany, Asia and Switzerland.
We invest 100% of our time, energy and resources in developing a pool of active and passive German Actuarial candidates. In Germany, our
German-speaking consultants map out local candidates to add to our global database and we now have an extensive understanding of this
extremely candidate short market. We are now one of the few genuine leaders in the actuarial recruitment space and during 2011/2012 we
have successfully reacted to the high-demand for nearly/newly qualified candidates due to the new Solvency II regulations. We have
managed this by tapping into our passive local candidate base and international Actuarial network.
We use proactive search methodologies and offer a bespoke recruitment solution on a contingency, sole agency or retained search basis to
suit your needs. Our candidates are from a pure Life or Non- atives, as
well as locally based international candidates. We recruit for a variety of technical and managerial roles.
