The colour scheme of this recipe card suggest to me that this
dish is served in restaurants situated in the countryside an
those that are of a high class and price. The use of green
gives an image of nature and trees, hence the country. Also
the plate is on table with no cloth, the colour contrasting
well with the green and again giving the image of a tree and
the countryside. Parts of the colour scheme may simply have
been made to appeal to vegetarians as ‘being
green’, healthy, and environmentally friendly.
In this recipe card (which is on the same dish) this time as well as
the name of the dish in the green border at the top of the
page, also is some of the key points surrounding the preparation
of the dish. This works well as if the person preparing to cook is
wanting to know some of the major points quickly.
The colour scheme on this recipe card is very
plain. However this lack of colour makes it
very easy to read. The ingredients are not set
out very well however. If someone was
reading the ingredients quickly they may
struggle to see where one ingredients starts
and and another one ends. Different
ingredients start on the same lines as ones
they are unrelated to. As an
improvement, the company making this
recipe cards could seek to stick individual
ingredients to individual lines. Instead of this
the company could put a bullet
point, asterisk or something similar, to
separate each individual ingredient.
When compared to the pictures on the
first slide, this one seems out of focus. The
photo is taken from a different angle and a
lot closer to the actual food. The food is
made to look quite enticing this way, and
the dripping creamed cheese adds to it
effectively. However the counter the food
is situated on as well as the colour of the
wall in the background do not suit the
food. This could perhaps show
inexperience in the photographer or a lack
of equipment and professionalism when
compared to the photographs in the first
slide.
This would probably be the majority of people at
home. The recipe card has the look of a
scrapbook, this would have been done intentionally.
The font is easy to read and set out well. The picture
is very poor and brings nothing to the recipe card.
The picture on a recipe card is supposed to entice
people into wanting to eat the product. This in my
opinion does not, the frame surrounding the Rolo
Cookies is needless and prevents the Rolo Cookies
themselves from being a larger size then they are on
the card.
This does look a rather poor job for a hired company
to give to a client, I would feel more at ease if I was
told it was created by a local ‘Cubs’ group.
The Chicken curry recipe card uses a colour
scheme which matches with the food in the
picture. This works well and is easy on the
eye, the salt, fat and sugar information at the
bottom of the page also match the colour of
food in the picture.
The font in the title also works well and is
quite a fun font when compared to other
fonts I have analysed.
The instructions and ingredients are set out well and are
easily readable on the white background. The “Germ
Watch” is sectioned off into the yellow also, this works
well as those reading can differentiate between the
cooking method and this additional information, perhaps
for after the meal is complete.
