A. Pre- reading
Activities
1. Preparation
(5 minutes)
Introduction
Sing the alphabet while pointing at the letters.
Review:
Review of the previously learned letters.
For students with less phonics exposure, the teacher should point to a wall chart
while singing the song.
B. During
reading
1. Presentation
Explicit Instruction/Teacher modeling (40 minutes)
Show the letter and picture flashcards while saying the letter name, letter
sound and the picture name.

2. Model producing the sound of each letter on the Letter Poster pages, one at a
time. Take time to sing the alphabet and point each letter on an alphabet chart.
Focus on the letter to be taught for the day.
Have students identify each letter on the chart one at a time, and as a group
practice the sound each letter makes. (Teacher can use TPR-total physical
responses to emphasize the name and sound of the given letter.

Students and teacher will play a game.
Form a Circle. Each student will be given a letter.
Teacher will produce the sound and students holding the letter will say “I
am here, I am letter B.
Independent working time (30 minutes)
Show the letter and picture flashcards while students say the letter name, letter
sound, the picture name, and stroke count while air writing. Students repeat.

Activities
(20 minutes)
(Ask students to tell you the letter name and produce the sounds , N, /n/,
