Build Agile Business Processes With Power Apps in Modern WorkplaceDavid J Rosenthal
Power Apps provides a low-code approach to rapidly build apps for any device while seamlessly working with Azure services through a rich extensibility model for professional developers.
Let’s take a look at Microsoft’s overall vision for how we help customers unlock communications, teamwork and collaboration with their employees.
Throughout our days, we transition from individual work to group based work (potentially many times in one day) and in doing so, we find ourselves moving from space to space, from individual spaces to collaborative spaces. (talk through spaces and use personal examples to make it real)
Next we need to consider what devices people might be using and these vary depending on the spaces. People on the go will be using their mobile. Other office devices might be a PC, a PC with a peripheral, or an IP desk phone. In collaboration spaces, people will be using all-in-one devices like Surface Hub, other large screen interactive displays like Windows Collaboration Displays, or room systems like Microsoft Teams Rooms.
And while this transition from space-to-space/device-to-device, may seem complex, it is made seamless when you unify all devices on Microsoft Teams.
This is the slide deck which was used for my webinar on Digital Transformation and Microsoft 365. In this session I've given a detailed overview of Digital Transformation and how it has been disrupting the organizations across the globe. I've also explained how Microsoft 365 can help in planning your organization's Digital Transformation.

Today, every company runs many different applications that are essential for success – both internal business applications but also external-facing applications for customers and partners (such as the company website, customer self-service portal, e-commerce sites, or mobile apps).
And then, there's data. Every user interaction with any application works with data, consumes data and generates data. Today, every business collects tremendous amounts of information - and the challenge is how to turn this data into actionable insights and intelligence to provide a superior customer experience.

Case Interview: Best Practice Note-takingTheCaseCoach
I often hear the question from students:
- What do good notes look like?
I recently worked with a candidate, Friedrich (not his real name), who happened to be in Los Angeles over the holidays and wanted to practice a case live. He is a sharp and charismatic undergraduate student who already has an offer with a boutique strategy firm but is preparing for an upcoming interview with an M/B/B firm.
Friedrich nailed the case interview, and in the process, happened to write up some very good notes. What impressed me was how Friedrich used his notes to draw me into the problem solving process throughout the case, asking me to reflect on his setup and structure, which made the case collaborative and enjoyable for me, the interviewer.
Above, with his permission I've shared his actual notes from our session.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

For small and midsize businesses (SMBs), technology can make the difference in driving your company ahead – setting you apart from your competitors – whatever size they may be.
A Boston Consulting Group study set out to test this idea—looking at whether SMBs that that are ahead of the curve in the use of technology actually do better than those who are less likely to use technology aggressively in their businesses.
The study identified a group of “technology leaders”—SMBs who stay ahead of their peers when it comes to technology adoption. Those identified as “leaders” are five times more likely to invest in new technology than other small and midsize organizations.
The result of this investment? The technology leaders far outperformed their peers in the marketplace. They create jobs almost twice as fast as other small businesses. And they increase annual revenues 15 percentage points faster than companies with lower levels of technology adoption.
The interesting thing is that while they were more likely to invest in new technology, that doesn’t necessarily mean they spend more than others in the long run. According to BCG, “Technology leaders invest for impact and grow faster. But they do not necessarily spend more as they grow.”
So technology can be a major differentiator for your business. But the challenge is “how do you get there?” It can seem daunting when you look across your IT—from servers to the cloud, PCs to mobile devices—to know where you should start, and how you can transition from what you have now to your new vision.
This is where Microsoft, combined with and our ecosystem of partners, provide something different—offering a unique approach for making the benefits of modern technology a reality for SMBs…
Microsoft empowers small and midsize businesses by making technology a business advantage. With Microsoft, you can choose your own path to the “modern business” with flexible, complete and trusted solutions for your business – desktop to mobile, server to cloud.
For SMBs, Microsoft offers technology solutions designed to address your business goals and challenges across four key areas:
Grow efficiently – use technology to reduce costs and be a real enabler of your business growth
Safeguard your business – keep your data protected and be prepared for the unexpected, so you know your business never misses a beat.
Do business anywhere – get the benefits of a mobile, productive team that can work together wherever they are.
Connect with customers – get the competitive advantage or really understanding your customers and making meaningful connections to build long-term relationships.
You’ve got big plans, so you need technology that can grow right along with your business. You can have it all – power and agility. And the freedom to work the way you and your team work best.
The only constant is change, especially when it comes to the technology we use to help run our businesses. And the pace of that change is constantly accelerating, whether as a result of major innovations like cloud computing or the impact of economic events.
Technology should be an asset – one that helps you to anticipate, manage, and respond quickly to change. Technology should make life easier, and provide flexibility to adapt quickly to changing business needs – whether expanding the infrastructure that powers your business applications, or adding new PCs, devices and apps that help your employees do their best work.
A lot of SMBs are looking to cloud technologies to provide flexibility and help adapt more quickly to change. According to AMI research, SMB spending on cloud technologies will nearly double from $123 billion in 2013 to $243 billion in 2018 – an annual growth rate of 15%. By comparison, spending on “on-premises” IT investments will grow at 4% annually. Of the SMBs who have adopted Software-as-a-Service applications in the cloud, 74% say “improved business agility” was an important factor in making their decision.
While SMBs are embracing the cloud, many aren’t going with an “all or none” strategy. They are choosing a “hybrid” approach, deciding which components to move to the cloud and which to keep on-site.
Microsoft is unique because it offers a flexible platform that lets you choose the path that’s best for your business, whether on-premises or cloud. And because it’s Microsoft, it offers a familiar platform. So change doesn’t have to come with a huge amount of additional training and costs – or related business disruptions. So you can adapt more quickly to changing business needs as needed across the different parts of your business.

Get the best of server and cloud:
Many small and midsize businesses today are opting to host their applications in the cloud to deploy quickly and avoid the capital expense of new hardware. With Microsoft products like Office 365, Windows Server, and Microsoft Azure, you can choose to host your applications in the way that best suits your business, whether on-site, in the cloud, or both.
If you have servers running applications on-site, you can run more apps on the same server, using virtualization built in to Windows Server 2012 R2. With Microsoft Azure, you can quickly move applications from on-site servers to the cloud where you can scale up and down as needed to meet changing demands.
About the Cloud:
With all the talk of cloud computing today, it can be helpful to take a step back and really understand what the cloud is and why it matters to your business.
At the most basic level, the cloud is about quickly adapting IT to your business needs – for example by adding new applications or file storage as needed, but without having to purchase and manage servers. The cloud can offer small and midsize organizations a lot of great benefits, like getting what you need fast, saving capital expense, and knowing everything is managed, protected, and up-to-date.
The cloud also offers small and midsize organizations enterprise-level security, with the high level of data protection and datacenter security required by the largest organizations.
For a lot of small and midsize businesses, it isn’t practical if the cloud is an “all or none” proposition. They need the flexibility to run some applications on-premises, while moving others to the cloud when it makes sense. This is where Microsoft is different. We are the only vendor that offers a consistent technology platform whether you are running servers on-site, virtualizing your workloads, or moving them to the cloud. Microsoft offers the same familiar tools to make this “hybrid” IT approach easy and seamless. So whether you are testing the cloud for the first time, or going “all-in”, Microsoft has the platform and tools to help you every step of the way.
Microsoft offers the unique ability to enable SMBs to choose their own path, whether that includes investing in your own servers or leveraging the cloud to build and scale quickly and pay as you go. From servers to Office productivity tools, Microsoft offers a simple, yet flexible platform that combines familiarity with choice. So you can choose the path that is best for your business.
Enable flexibility across work styles, devices, and apps
Windows allows flexibility across work styles and device types, whether you’re accessing an LOB application or any of the more than 100,000 modern Windows apps. Different members of your team have different roles and responsibilities. One device or form factor cannot address these specific differences. Just as important is the benefit that you can chose to work with devices that fit your budget.
For example, your salesman would want to choose a form factor that enables them to be mobile and productive on the road.
Only Windows devices provide a seamless experience across an innovative assortment of Windows PCs, ultrabooks, 2-in1s, tablets and phones. This ensures that with minimal cost and training, your employees get exactly what they need to do their jobs in the most productive way.
Add employees and new applications as needed
With Office 365, you can quickly and easily equip new and existing employees with the apps and services they need. No lengthy deployment process and no “one size fits all” pricing. Just check the boxes for the specific applications required, and your people are ready to go with the latest software they need to do their jobs.
With Microsoft Azure, your apps hosted in the cloud are ready scale as needed as your company grows.
Wearing many different hats isn’t a fashion statement – it’s a way of life. So you need technology that multi-tasks the way you do. That means more mobility and scalability, but with less hassle. No big spending, no worrying about upgrades. Just the tools you need to do what you do best.
Get the most out of your technology
Every business today is focused on reducing costs wherever possible, and technology costs are no exception – whether you are adding new servers and storage capacity for your data and files, or purchasing new PCs, mobile devices, and productivity software your employees use every day.
When it comes to technology investments, you need make sure you are getting the most value out of the products and services you purchase, and that you are not buying more than you need. According to Boston Consulting Group, 90% of those identified as “technology leaders” say IT is important to their business’s future, and 41% rely on technology to lower costs.
Technologies like the cloud and virtualization or helping SMBs get more out of their IT investments. According to AMI research, 61% of SMBs say using virtualization technology to consolidate IT infrastructure is a high priority.
Microsoft offers SMBs a range of opportunities to reduce costs and maximize IT investments, whether by getting more from the servers that run business applications, embracing the cloud, or getting the most out of the PCs and devices used by employees.
----
Additional BCG quotes:
“Leaders adopt technology in smarter ways, getting more bang for their buck.”
“Leaders use technology creatively to operate more efficiently.”
“Leaders are the first to adopt the latest technologies, and they also find innovative ways to use established IT tools.”
“The cloud gives companies of any size access to capabilities and services that previously were only available to the largest enterprises.”
90% say technology is important to their business’s future
Get more out of your hardware investment, from servers to PCs and mobile devices
Microsoft products and technologies are designed to help small and midsize businesses get more from their hardware investments, from servers to PCs and mobile devices. Windows Server 2012 R2 uses built-in virtualization to enable you to run more applications on the same server, helping you get more out of your hardware investment and reduce related costs, like IT maintenance and power bills. Windows 8 PCs and mobile devices offer a familiar, seamless experience across form factors, offering more choices to employees while reducing training costs and boosting productivity. Further, having devices at numerous price points including at the low end, allows you to choose the device that fits your budget.
Avoid up-front costs and ensure your employees always have the latest software
With Office 365, your employees get their familiar, best of breed Office experience from applications and email hosted in the cloud, so you can avoid the high capital expense of associated infrastructure, shifting the cost to more predictable operating expense where you pay only for what you use. Because everything is fully managed and updated in the cloud, you know your employees always have the latest software. This means your IT doesn’t have to focus on continually buying and updating software, and your employees never have to lose productivity to the downtime associated with updates.
Reduce IT costs by simplifying management of Windows devices and making mobile access easier
Through Group Policy, Domain Join and cloud based MDM solutions like Windows Intune, personal and company owned Windows devices can be managed easily and provided secure access to company data. This enables your employees to bring their personal devices to work and afford them greater flexibility by granting controlled access across devices to business data.
Get faster database performance for your existing applications and hardware
As small and midsized businesses grow, so do the demands on the databases they use to help run their organizations. Whether for order processing, inventory, or customer management, a slow-performing or unavailable database can cause significant bottlenecks in the way people do their jobs – and it can cause customers to choose to do business elsewhere. SQL Server 2014 makes powerful database functionality affordable to small and midsize organizations by getting faster performance from existing applications and the server hardware you already have.
Get scalable, cost-effective storage without purchasing expensive solutions
With technology built in to Windows Server 2012 R2, you can get the flexible data storage you need without investing in expensive solutions. you can easily allocate storage to users on a “just-enough and just-in-time” basis, and then scale it up or down as needed – offering them a fast, easy way to store whatever they need to get their work done.
With the click of a button, access your data and meet with your team from virtually anywhere. Catch that little league game on a weekday or take that meeting over Saturday morning coffee. You’re free to do business anywhere you want.
Today, we all want more flexibility to get our work done wherever we need to be, whether in the office, at home, or on the road. According to a Boston Consulting Group study, many “SMEs”, or small and midsize enterprises, are using cloud-enabled services on their mobile devices to enable employees to stay connected. According to AMI research, 55% of SMBs support a mobile workforce. And this is only expected to grow. AMI predicts that tablet shipments to SMBs will grow from 21 million units in 2013 to more than three times that number – 70 million – in 2018.
With Microsoft, you have a technology platform that provides everything you need to get your job done from wherever you need to be. From servers to the cloud, and across PCs and devices—whether you need to get to your latest files and applications, or connect with your team—Microsoft offers a flexible platform to meet your needs.
Access your latest documents, files, and apps wherever you go, online or offline
With Office 365, you can access and edit your latest files wherever you go, on any Windows device. With Microsoft, you also know you’ll get the same rich experience whether you’re online or offline. For example, with OneDrive for Business, if you aren’t online, you can still get to your documents and they get automatically synched when you’re back online.
Easily access business applications from remote PCs and mobile devices
The explosion in mobile devices has made it easier than ever to work from anywhere. However, this also means that business data can be put at risk as these devices are all too often lost or stolen.
When you have line of business applications, like CRM, accounting, and HR, hosted at the main office, you can offer employees the flexibility to get to those apps from remote PCs and Windows phones and tablets, while keeping company data on the server. You can also enable access to business applications hosted in the cloud on Microsoft Azure.
Technology included in Windows Server 2012 R2, makes it easy to access apps from anywhere, while providing peace of mind that your sensitive data isn’t stored on a mobile device that could be lost or stolen.
Meet online any time
Connect with people and get your work done anywhere. See a co-worker’s calendar and set up an online meeting to get quick input on a file or gather information. Add more attendees from multiple locations to expand the conversation as needed.
Enjoy a seamless experience on a choice of phones, tablets, and laptops
Today, we work across a range of Windows PCs and devices, from the desktop at the office, to our mobile devices, to a home PC. Access all of your apps with the same seamless experience on a variety of Windows devices, including PCs, phones, tablets, laptops, and 2-in-1s.
Technology is changing the shape of business. Whether you’re a road warrior or a retailer, the walls of your business are expanding to include people all over the world. Now you can access data anywhere and collaborate across time zones or hemispheres.
In a Boston Consulting Group study, 43% of SMB employees work in more than one location. To help employees work together, 70% are either using or planning to use Software-as-a-Server (SaaS) cloud technologies for collaboration within the next two years.
“Cloud-based collaboration technologies allow SME leaders to more easily and effectively manage a dispersed and mobile workforce.”
– Boston Consulting Group
“The leaders we surveyed told us that technology-enabled collaboration has become key to how they compete against larger companies.”
- Boston Consulting Group
The workplace is changing, with more work being done remotely and across geographies. Employees need to easily connect and work together wherever they are – whether at the office, at home, or on the road.
With Microsoft, you can work together and connect with your team in real time.
Work together on important business documents at the same time
Work with your team from anywhere to create, review, and revise important business documents—with real-time updates in Office 365 and automatic version control of your documents stored on OneDrive for Business.
Meet with your team, whenever and wherever
Use Lync to meet and work together from anywhere with rich video conferencing capabilities, the ability to view documents and presentations together, and communicate in real time with voice-to-voice and instant messaging. Work together more easily, whether your team members are at the office, at home, or on the road, so you can reduce travel time and costs without sacrificing a personal connection.
Use Lync to stay connected across your Windows devices – join a meeting on your Windows phone and give a presentation on your Windows tablet
Work together easily with customers and partners
With SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, you can easily share documents – from invoices to orders for new materials – with customers and partners. You also get the peace of mind that data and documents are protected with enterprise-grade security, flexible permissions and powerful IT controls.
Office 365 makes it easy to collaborate with partners and customers. Provide feedback by making comments on documents online, and use Yammer to connect on a private social network.
When it comes to cybersecurity, ever wish you could just chain your laptop to your desk and call it a day? You’re not alone. 60% of the “technology leaders” among SMBs surveyed by Boston Consulting Group cited data security or privacy as a concern.
With the explosion of mobile device usage at work, lost or stolen devices all too often result in lost company files and data. Employees want the freedom to access the applications and data they need on whatever PC or device they choose – whether at the office, at home, or on the road.
At the same time, you need to make sure data is protected. While we’re seeing a growth use of tablets, including iPads. Ironically though two-thirds of SMBs still don’t believe Apple iOS tablets are secure.
Fortunately, the best security system for your data doesn’t involve locks or alarms. In fact, it’s so seamless you won’t even know it’s there. Microsoft provides built-in protection at every level of your technology platform, from the server to PCs and mobile devices. Because it’s all Microsoft, you have peace of mind that it works together, and that you have a consistent identity platform so you can control who can access which data and applications.
Know you’re protected against hackers, malware, and viruses
With Windows 8, your PCs and devices are automatically protected with built-in encryption and tools like Windows Defender to guard against hackers, malware, and viruses. You don’t need to invest in expensive security and authentication features. Windows Defender is a built-in Anti-Virus tool. Virtual Smart Cards tie authentication to your hardware and cannot be stolen.
Get automatic protection against spam and email threats
Office 365 includes built-in, always up-to-date spam and virus protection for your email. With Office 365, you also get the mission critical, physical security measures used for its global datacenters.
Easily manage and protect mobile devices
Managing your Windows tablet and Windows phone – and protecting the data on those devices – is made simple with features built in to Office 365 and Intune, such as remote data removal and PIN reset.
Control access to your business data on company and personal devices
Windows 8 offers capabilities (like Domain Join and Group Policy) that enable seamless, protected access across PCs and devices. With Window Server, built-in functionality enables remote access to business applications like accounting and CRM, while keeping data on the server, where it is backed up and up-to-date.
You’ve got a lot on your mind. That’s why you shouldn’t have to worry about the unexpected, whether it’s losing your laptop or losing power for days. All you need is a simple plan. Give yourself the peace of mind that all your hard work is safe and sound.
New technology areas, like cloud computing, are making an impact in this area. A Boston Consulting Group study found that “The cloud provides resiliency and built-in redundancy in case of natural disasters. Following the earthquake in Japan and the tsunami in Thailand, for example, companies with cloud capabilities such as data storage, IaaS, and SaaS were back up and running within hours, while those that relied on on-site hardware and software were devastated.”
This is an important challenge for SMBs. According to the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 40% of businesses hit by disaster never reopen. And another 25% close within two years. High profile disasters have made “disaster recovery” solutions top of mind for many organizations. However, systems can go down for many reasons, whether it’s a break-in, a fire, or power outage.
Recovering from a disaster requires more than data backup. It’s about getting your applications and systems back to where they were before the downtime occurred. This can take days, even weeks with simple backup systems. And without frequent backups, you can lose many days worth of data. Without a solution to ensure business continuity, you are at risk for major business disruptions resulting in lost productivity, and lost customers.
Microsoft builds resiliency and recovery capabilities into its products and technologies, from server software to the cloud, to PCs and devices. So small and midsize organizations have the peace of mind that their businesses stay open, even if disaster strikes at the main office.

BCG quotes:
“(Cloud solutions) eliminate the need for big, upfront capital expenditures in favor of more manageable. ongoing operational expenses.”
Never lose your latest files, even if you lose your laptop or device
Mobile devices have opened up a new level of flexibility at work. However, smartphones, tablets, and laptops are all too often lost or stolen, which can cause a major disruption as work files and applications are lost, losing hours – or even days – worth of work. With OneDrive for Business, your employees never lose their latest files because they are safely stored in the cloud, where they can be securely accessed from a replacement PC or device.
And with Windows 8 Pro, OneDrive for Business is just part of the UI, so you can drag-and-drop files quickly and easily.
Then for lost or stolen devices, you can remotely wipe critical data on Office 365
Know your email and apps are ready on any device
Office 365 offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which means you have the peace of mind that your email and applications are ready when you are, on any device.

You don’t have to be a mind-reader to get into your customers’ heads. You just need the right tools to give them what they want, when they want it. It’s not all about data and insights. It’s about serving your customers and earning their loyalty, every single day.
Do you know your customers as well as your competitors do? Information can make the difference when it comes to winning customers and keeping them.
According to AMI research, 38% of midsize business and 43% of small businesses plan to invest in technology for improved customer experience and retention. 48% of midsize businesses and 24% of small businesses say business intelligence and analytics is of strategic importance to their business.
You’re probably sitting on a goldmine of data about your customers. The challenge is using it to your advantage.
Often, the hard part is getting to that data and putting it to use to help you understand your customers – to answer questions like “Who are your most profitable customers?” “What are their key challenges?” “How can you reach them in a way that your competitors can’t?” Data can make the difference, if you have the tools to use it to your advantage.
With Microsoft, you have a unique opportunity to use your data to help you target and win customers and keep them for the long-term. That’s because Microsoft enables you to get to your data and put it to use with the familiar tools you probably already use. So you can make data-driven decisions a part of your day-to-day activities.
If you have Windows 8, you have Enhanced Search, which puts a massive amount of information at your fingertips so you can quickly find the data you’re looking for, whether on your laptop or on any other device, OneDrive, or the Windows Store.
And if you use Excel, you may be surprised at how easy it is to get to internal and external sources of data and bring it all together with a few clicks. For example, you could access internal customer data and combine it with sentiment data from social media to get a unique understanding of your most loyal customers and their preferences.
With industry-leading analysis tools in Excel and features to help you work more quickly like “recommended charts”, you can use data to get insights as part of your daily work.
Business intelligence tools are often too complicated for most people. Microsoft Excel puts the power of information into the hands of all your employees, helping them put data into action. They can get to the information they need and make sense of it – using the tools they already know. So there is little or no learning curve.
Microsoft Excel includes an easy-to-use tool called Power View that makes it simple to create rich, interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations. For example, you can create a custom dashboard for your combined view of customer data and product profitability to track and monitor opportunities—ensuring that you and your employees are always informed and making the best decisions with complete and up-to-date information. You can act on opportunities faster than your competition, enabling you to win new sales and deepen relationships with your most profitable customers.
One of the best things about business intelligence is that once someone has done the research, it can be shared with the rest of the organization so everyone can benefit from it.
Power BI for Office 365 includes a feature called Power BI Sites that makes it simple to publish data, reports, and insights in the cloud for easy consumption from anywhere. Power BI Sites offers a great way to publish information, data, and reports to your sales staff for access on the road. Once you’ve developed a specific data set or view of data you like, you can publish it to a Power BI Site to share your insight with others. Power BI Sites also remain connected to your data sources on-premises, so data can be refreshed to ensure it is current and accurate, giving your sales team the edge they need to connect with customers and win deals.
