2. A radio trailer is an advertisement that is played on the radio to make
listeners aware of a upcoming film, event or business/product.
Commercial radio stations make most of their revenue selling "airtime" to
advertisers.Radio advertisements or "spots" are available when a business
or service provides valuable consideration, usually cash, in exchange for
the station airing their spot or mentioning them on air.
The radio station that the advert will be played on depends on the target
audience of the film and the target audience of the radio station. For
example a radio trailer for a Disney film will not be played on Classic FM
due the the target audience being completely different

4. While searching for examples of radio trailers I found this webpage:
http://blackholereviews.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/the-scariest-film-imaginable-radio-ads.html
This page contains youtube videos of 4 radio trailers that have been
recorded while on air.
All of the radio trailers are older ones from the 1970’s-80’s. Since
the invention of television the popularity of prolonged radio use has
declined so it is not often radio trailers are created and played
nowadays. This may be because there is a smaller audience to
reach through radio or because it is more effective to advertise
through tv as parts of the film can be shown not just the sound
effects.
