Candi studios is where we created and edited
our thriller. There is many reasons to why we
chose candi studios.
- Candi studios specialises in thrillers for low
budget films which was ideal for us as we had
a low budget and needed expertise on
producing a high quality product with limited
resources.
4. CANDI Studios
CANDI studios is a small local independent studio
which is on an very small budget.
Using this independent studio will ensure our target
audience are aware that our film comes from a
studio who has released plenty of thrillers.
Furthermore having CANDI studios as our
production company we are able to target our
audience accordingly with thriller conventions we
have adopted from our time at the studio.
5. Blumhouse Distribution
Background information
Blumhouse distribution/production is the company
behind the very successful and extremely low budget
(until recently) series of the thriller/horror ‘Paranormal
activity’ the first paranormal activity was made on a
budget of $10,000
All sequels was shown in cinema chains worldwide
despite being made on a low budget, this is something
we wanted to accomplish ourselves which is why we
decided to use blumhouse as our distribution company
as they have made a name for themselves on the film
stage.
6. Blumhouse Distribution
• We thought by using blumhouse to distribute both of
us can profit as they would gradually appeal to a whole
new target audience which may bring future possible
audience members to their future projects.
• Another reason why we chose blumhouse to distribute
it because their target audience is of similar age to ours
which is 18-35 as the late teen, early thirties person is
still into horror/psychological thrillers, predominantly
those of male gender as they tend to prefer gore and
murder and solving such mysteries.
7. Why small and independent?
• A small media institution is more likely to distribute our film because of the low
budget nature of the film. Small media institutions are more likely to distribute it
because it goes with their portfolio of independent films from small studios such
as ours (candi media productions) which is on a local scale. Furthermore it would
cost less for us to use independent companies rather than big companies. Small
and independent also helps us tailor our product exactly on our target audiences’
needs as we have full control over the script and how the final product is made.
Whereas in big companies we may be confined to certain regulations
• As we used small independent studios and distribution companies, our film was
rightly shown in a small independent cinema in angel Islington.
