Racist Essay
Writing an essay on a sensitive and controversial topic such as racism can be an intricate and
challenging task. The difficulty lies not only in the complexity of the subject matter but also in
the need to navigate through the emotional and often polarized perspectives surrounding it.
Crafting an essay on racism requires a careful balance between presenting factual information,
analyzing historical and sociocultural contexts, and addressing the emotional impact of the topic
on individuals and communities.
The challenge intensifies as the writer strives to maintain an objective tone while addressing the
inherent emotional weight that racism carries. It involves delving into the uncomfortable truths
of systemic discrimination, historical injustices, and the ongoing struggles faced by marginalized
communities. Navigating the intricacies of language and ensuring that the essay promotes
understanding rather than further division is crucial.
Moreover, writing on racism demands a deep understanding of the diverse experiences and
perspectives of those affected by it. This necessitates extensive research to grasp the historical
roots of racism, its manifestations across different cultures, and the ongoing efforts to combat it.
Balancing the portrayal of systemic issues with the individual experiences of those affected adds
another layer of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, tackling the topic of racism in an essay requires not only a mastery of writing
skills but also a commitment to empathy, sensitivity, and a comprehensive understanding of the
multifaceted nature of the subject. It demands a delicate balance between presenting facts,
acknowledging emotional nuances, and fostering a constructive dialogue. Crafting an impactful
essay on racism is a formidable task that necessitates diligence, empathy, and a dedication to
fostering understanding.

The Paradox In Robert Heinlein s All You Zombies
All You Zombies, by Robert Heinlein, is a famous science fiction story that
entwined one of the best paradoxes. The idea of one person being everyone,
including her own mother, father and daughter and has to continuously leap
through time to be able to exist. Despite that paradox isn t revealed until near the
end of the story, it is symbolised through the bartenders ring of a snake eating it s
own tail. Heinlein also shows how the paradox might affect a person s view of the
world through the idea of solipsism. The main point, however, is how the paradox is
literally everything in the story. The Unmarried Mother, or Jane before the sex
change, is the protagonist in the story, and all the other characters of the story as
well. Although in most cases this would be impossible, the story is a paradox. A
paradox, something that seems possible until further investigated and found that it is
logically unacceptable, is the very reason Jane exists. Jane was unknowingly born a
hermaphrodite, and lived unhappily in an orphanage. As the story progressed, she
meets a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the end of the story, Jane travels to their personal quarters and thinks about
presence. I know where I came from but where did all you zombies come from?...
You Aren t really there at all. There isn t anybody but me jane here alone in the
dark, knowing that their life is based off a paradox, Jane starts to wonder how
everything else is out there before stating that there is only Jane. This way of
thinking is Solipsism, the idea that the mind is the only thing that can be known to
exist and anything outside the mind is unwarranted. This is a motivation for Jane to
continue to replay the paradox over and over again, because Jane is everything. Jane
is every person, Jane is the reason behind everything and Jane is the
How Did The Atlantic Slave Trade Affect Society
Over a period of time, thousands of men, woman and children went through a
devastating time due to the fact that they were forced to move from their
homeland to be held captive as slaves. The whole process of the slave trade had
massive effects on the people themselves and for Africa as well. The slave trade
was fierce and terrible, and the subjugation of Africans was merciless and
dehumanizing. This period in history was seen as one of the longest and supported
strikes on the lives of individuals. The staggering effect on Africaof its contribution in
the formation of the slave trade was negative. There was an extreme decrease in
population and their involvement in this period had an effect on their social and
political standing which could eventually result in colonial domination. In this essay,
the impact of the Atlantic Slave Tradewill be discussed and how the... Show more

However, in the slave business, male slaves were wanted more than females were
wanted 4 . There are numerous amounts of negative outcomes that occurred when the
Atlantic Slave Trade occurred. Not only did it affect the economic state on some of
the states, but politically it was tampered on as well. Due to the fact that African
Kings become so invested into the slave business, civil wars continue to happen
within their societies and this had eventually made them weak enough. Focusing on
the fact that the Atlantic Slave Trade resulted in colonization, the African states were
being used by the Europeans and in return the Europeans continued to exploit African
resources. This all resulted in Europeans economic stand to be way more than th
economic stand of those in the African states
Transorbital Lobotomy Analysis
Prefrontal and transorbital lobotomy was a commonly used treatment to cure
madness during the mid 1900 s. This invasive procedure was tested on as many as
50,000 institutionalized mad patients. This was a desperate procedure, and was only
used when all other forms of treatment failed. There s a lot of controversy
surrounding this horrific procedure. Where the cure rates after this procedure were
not as high as everyone thought, and the terrible risks that can come from getting a
lobotomy. When evaluating patient their employment status played a key factor in
whether or not they should have a lobotomy. In order to determine the success of the
operation the patient s ability to work played a key role. Both prefrontal and

Creating a lot of havoc in the lives of both family and friends of the returning

veterans like Peter s had, left for war a happy go lucky teen and returned home a 20

Where the man who left for war didn t always return as the same man. During WWII
both doctors and the media advertised that lobotomy treatment was the best form of

their loved ones, many families turned to lobotomy thinking that this was their best
and only option. Only to find out that while at times the treatment did reduce
symptoms, but it also took away the persons personality and their ability to take care
of themselves. Leaving families with feelings of guilt and resentment depressed for

Social Classes In The Leopard
A major part of society, ranging from the beginning of time until present day, has been
the aspect of social classes and the distinguishing features between the different levels.
In Giuseppe Di Lampedusa s novel The Leopard, through the use of different
characters to symbolize the different social classes and the relationships between
them, the author successfully distinguished and defined the different groups in
nineteenth century Italian society. A special spotlight is shown on the aristocracy as
that is the class the main character, Prince Fabrizio, belongs to. It is seen through the
novel quite clearly the distinction between the different social classes, the
relationships between them, and why characters in the different classes behave as
they do. The characters in this book that are members of the aristocracy are also a
part of the royal, or now ex royal, Salinas family. Prince Fabrizio and his wife
Princess Stella were born into this life of luxury. They even brought in a few
children, Concetta and Paolo. Prince Fabrizio is an extremely dynamic character.
He is used to being rich just because he was born rich and is not interested in
working hard for what he has. He was presented with a job to work for the new
Italian government but turned it down and recommended Don Calogero because of
what seemed to be a lack of motivation to actually have to work in order to earn
money. Fabrizio is described to be quick tempered and that is proven when he gets
upset in the garden
Reward Management Essay
Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non
monetary rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees,
the organisation, and its shareholders (O Neil, 1998). In addition O Neil (1998) also
suggests that a RM system can serve the purpose of attracting prospective job
applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating employees, ensuring legal
requirements relating to direct and indirect rewards are not violated, assisting the
company in achieving human resourceand business objectives, and ultimately
assisting the organisation in obtaining a competitive advantage.
Various conflicts in the RM system can affect the benefits that can be obtained. It has
been argued that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, Cascio (1991) suggests that the combination of the following five
requirements along with a performance based pay system can also have a very
significant impact on performance. The first of these is skill variety, where a wide
variety of tasks or procedures is available to the employee. Next is task identity,
where the employee can clearly identify the output of a task as a product of their
efforts. This is followed by task significance, where the work is recognised as
important and meaningful. After this comes autonomy, where the employees have a
major say in work planning and execution. The final requirement is feedback, where
employees receive constructive advice or criticism on their performance.
The rewards offered can be extrinsic such as wages, incentives and bonuses, or
intrinsic such as job satisfaction, an internal feeling of worth and a sense of well
being on the job.
O Neil (1998) suggests six minimal criteria for the design of a performance based
pay system. The first of these criteria is that the reward system should be self funding,
that is, the performance increases should as a minimum offset the cost of the rewards
provided. The second criterion is that the distribution of the rewards must be
consistent, fair and justifiable. In addition reward plans must be transparent and
clearly communicated. The third criterion
Film Adaptation Of Poe s The Porcelain Doll
For our silent film project, we will be creating a film adaptation of Poe s The Black
Cat called The Porcelain Doll. This film is about a person who lives with a
roommate, and has a porcelain doll that they ve loved dearly since their childhood.
However, one day the person comes home upset and throws the doll down,
knocking one of the eyes out. Devastated about the damage, the person throws the
doll in the trash. The roommate is a bit surprised and kind of frightened by this,
given the fact that the doll had been loved exceedingly by the person in the past.
Life goes on, until one day a package shows up on the person s doorstep. A bit
confused since they didn t order anything, the person opens the box to find a similar
doll. The only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cut back to the kitchen where the person has heard the noise, and goes to the front
door to find two police officers standing there. The person invites the policemen in,
who gesture about how they heard raised voices and came to investigate. The
person waves an arm, showing that the house is theirs to search. Cut to a shot of
the door, we see the knob rattle. The policemen see this, and, a little later, so does
the person. The person tries to stop the knob from rattling, but the policemen are
already heading over. The person gives up and lets the policemen unlock and open
the door. There is nothing there, to the relief of the person. Then, the roommate
comes running up the stairs and out of the basement. The police ask if the
roommate rattled the doorknob, but the roommate seems to have no idea what
they re talking about. Puzzled, the person leans in closer to the door. We cut to a
shot from within the basement staircase, and see the person lean closer and closer
to the camera. All of a sudden, the doll leaps out from behind the camera and onto
the person, attacking them. The screen goes black. This serves as a PG version of
the original tale, but without sacrificing any of the crucial plot points of the source
material. Most of the video will be shot on a tripod, with some handheld shots as
well. The finished product will have a sepia filter. Since it is a silent film, there will
be no sounds other than background music. As
The Novel Legend, There Are A Wide Variety Of
Characters...
In Marie Lu s dystopian book Legend, there are a wide variety of characters with
varying and backgrounds. Although the tale follows the lives of young girl June and
outlaw Daniel (nicknamed Day), many side characters are also introduced and
developed throughout the course of the book. All of these characters possess
interesting names that enhance the plot in certain ways, and while most of the
characters names fit them, some do not.
To begin with, the name of the main character June refers to the month of the same
name, which in turn was named for the Roman Goddess Juno. Furthermore, the
exact meaning of Juno is not fully known, but it may be related to an Indo European
root that translates to youth . Additionally, Juno was the queen of the heavens in
Roman mythology. She was also the protectress of women and marriage, as well as
the goddess of finance. June s name does a good job reflecting her personality, and
matches many of her actions during the novel. To begin with, June is rather young at
the point in time in which this story takes place, being about fifteen. However, the
protectress quality functions as the central plot point in the book. Although June does
not protect specifically women or marriage, she strongly believes in protecting what
is right, and the shift in what she perceives as right drives the main plot between her
and Day, as well as their connections to the Republic. At the beginning of the book,
June is completely loyal to the Republic. When she
E Marketing Plan For Wellington Essay
Wellington Combined Taxis (WCT) came into existence in March 1993 after the
consolidation of several Wellington taxi companies under the Combined name.
Collectively they have been supplying taxi services for over 90 years.
WCT operates the second largest taxi company in NZ. WCT currently has 500
Business Class vehicles with over 600 drivers. They employ a team of 70 staff.
This digital marketing plan has been written in response to Wellington Combined
Taxis focus on growing their market share and their interest to enter into new markets
through the acquisition of new customers. All the findings within this 12 month
digital marketing plan has considered the company s broader corporate, marketing
aims and objectives.
The report has identified a lack of digital orientation and activity with WCT online
presence which could be due to a lack of previous internal resources, the nature of
competition within the taxi industry and the type of organisation. This provides
WCT with the opportunity to exploit its strengths and position through e marketing
techniques.
The recommendation is to carry out a 12 month digital marketing plan which will
produce responses from new and current WCT customers. The responses generated
will be the product of a combined effort from WCT to improve its website, e mail
marketing strategies, social media management and a selection of other e
communication tools.
A hands on rather than stand firm approach will ensure WCT digital marketing
My Experience At Caryl Churchill s Play, Top Girls
I have participated in theatre from the age of eight until I was eighteen years old.
In my ten years of theatre experience, I have been in and have seen so many
different shows. However, I have never seen a show as complicated as Otterbein
University s rendition of Caryl Churchill s play, Top Girls. Before I see a show, I
usually have some knowledge or understanding of what the show is about, but this
time around, I knew nothing of the show. After the show ended, I still had no clue
what the show was truly about until someone explained it to me. When I arrived at
Cowen Hall, I was unware that the seating was on the stage and we would be very
close to the actors. I would consider our seating to be in the round, but only on three

I thought that it was almost borderline raciest. I am for freedom of expression and
testing boundaries in art, but I just could not get past her portrayal of Lady Nijo. I do
not blame Sally because this was probably what the director wanted. When Act 1
ended, I was very confused and was not sure what was really happening. However, I
realized after the show that all the characters in Act 1 had something in common.
They all represent the injustice against women, which is a common theme throughout
the rest of the play. All these characters have encountered hardship brought on by
men. Although, it was never explained why Marlene invited these exact women to
dinner, or even how she could have dinner with people from different periods of
time. Act 2, Scene 1 began with Marlene interviewing Jeanine at the Top Girls
Employment Agency, and asking some unorthodox questions. If Jeanine was
married or engaged, had children or wanted children, and if she wanted more
money. I have been through many interviews, and I have never been asked any of
those questions. It felt like Marlene was examining Jeanine s life choices and was
disappointed in them. This is the moment where I felt like there was something off
with Marlene. Marlene does not like the fact that Jeanine wants to get married, have
children, and have a great career. Marlene clearly does not believe that woman can
maintain a powerful career and family life simultaneously which is at the thematic
Staples Stereotypes
Staples seems to have become self indoctrinated and quite belligerent in the
gestures, word usage, and outline that he chose to write his essay. He understood
the characteristics that trigger the social aspect of being endangered and yet
utilized the same social cues to stay alive to where he calls himself a survivalist. A
graduate student and yet his social views generally portray someone who is being
forced to amalgamate into another echelon of society. I generally try and disregard
articles with a foundation in race bating tactics so this essay was rather controversial
to me. Having personal experience with the issue he is attempting to portray I find it
irresponsible to not show the opposite side of the social spectrum. When dealing with

double his business in order to support this goal. In using S.W.O.T. analysis to

working for it already; customerretention is very high, awareness of NOCO in its

This type of new program offering and adding one on one training for his current
customers would increase NOCO s market penetration in the 10 13 year old group
too. Using customer satisfaction surveys would be a great market research tool for
Dyer to use to identify the types of new programs his customers are looking for.
Diversification in NOCO s target markets is another avenue for Dyer to explore to
expand his business. Consumers in Colorado are very interested in soccer. Is there
enough interest to warrant developing adult soccer teams? Is there a market for
toddler soccer training? What about a childcare program for younger kids so parents
can watch older kids compete in the tournaments? Dyer needs to hit the pavement in
his community and in the neighboring communities to get first hand feedback from
the demographics he is targeting. In order to increase awareness of his business in
the towns adjacent to Fort Collins, Dyer could host recruiting events in Loveland,
Longmont and Greeley. With the information he gathers at those events he could
consider the viability of bussing new customers to Fort Collins or offering camps
outside his home base. This type of market development could be instrumental in
growing NOCO into the recognizable brand that Dyer wants it to be.
Dyer should evaluate all opportunities available to him and weigh them against their
opportunity cost before heading in any single direction with

Kneeling During the National Anthem Should Not be Allowed
Although NFL athletes are a huge figure in America today, they still choose to
disrespect their country by kneeling during the National Anthem. I believe kneeling
during the National Anthem is unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community,
and is also bad publicity. This has caused people to protest the NFL by doing things
such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the anthem has caused a huge
controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the attention of
adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting
more focus on politics.
First off, kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic. This is the greatest
country in the world. It gives everyone who comes here an opportunity in life, and
the right to pursue a life of happiness. It is crazy to think Americas finest football
players will still disrespect our Anthem. This problem has gotten so big that even
our president has had strong words concerning the issue. President Trump has taken
to twitter multiple times saying how unpatriotic it is. Also, how it should be illegal
and players who are choosing to kneel should leave the NFL. With that being said,
there are still NFL players who stand in support of the Anthem. Some coaches do not
allow players to stand alone, like Mike Tomlinof the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead
these players they hide in the locker room during the Anthem. In my opinion,
The Importance Of The Submaximal Treadmill Walk Test
в—‹Because these populations are at a high risk of experiencing a cardiac event
(Coquart et al., 2016), the submaximal treadmill walk test would be a better option.
2.How accurate do you think these tests were? Which test was most accurate? Why?
What might account for these differences? в—‹I do not believe that the submaximal
tests were accurate. When comparing the relative predicted VO2MAX values, the
non exercise test predicted 2.22 (L/min), the 1 mile walk/ run test predicted 2.62 (L
/min), the step test predicted 2.04 (L/min), the YMCA cycle ergometer test
predicted 1.83 (L/min), and the submax treadmill test predicted 2.22 (L/min). The
most accurate of the submaximal tests was the submax treadmill test, as when
compared to the 1 mile walk/run test, the predicted values were the same. For the
most part, the submaximal testing predictions varied significantly when compared
to each other, which is likely a result of testing discrepancies and error in
measurements. To predict VO2MAX, all tests used an equation used for all
populations, and is not specific to the client at all (Bennett et al., 2016).
Additionally, it is likely that there were measurement errors taken during test such
as being able to identify HR immediately after completion of the step test. The test, I
believe, to be most accurate was the VO2MAX maximal graded exercise test.
Although a true VO2MAX was not achieved, if the client could have lasted a few
more seconds on the treadmill, it is likely that two

Mr. Humphrey agrees since nurses are caregivers; this implies that they are the ones
in charge of taking care of the patients through providing them with food,
administering drugs to them, and even ensuring that the hygiene of the patients is
maintained at all time. Apart from being caregivers, they also make decisions
pertaining the patients. In doing so, the nurses will determine the measures that
should be taken to improve the patients health in case it is on the decline. This is a
vital role as it is upon this that the patients recovery is determined. Moreover; nurses
are also in charge of making communications with the patient and even their family
members (Institute of Medicine (US), 2011). This aspect greatly determines the
direction of the treatment as the opinion of the family members is not only integral
but also vital in some instances. The hospital can avoid being put into an awkward

Science Behind Mental Health
The science behind mental illness is complicated and has not yet been completely
figured out by scientists, so misconceptions about and misuse of mental illness are
commonly seen because of it. For example, OCD, or Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder, is often used as an adjective or synonym to a perfectionist. Or, those who
are feeling sad one day may say they are depressed. This could be seen as
normalizing, but for the wrong reason: it removes the legitimacy of the disorder.
The reason why people do this is because they do not understand how mental illness
works and where it comes from. Many believe it is fluid or spontaneous, while some
simply believe it is not a real illness at all. The brain is an organ capable of becoming
ill, just like every... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three things that can be used to define stigma: stereotypes, prejudice, and
discrimination (Corrigan 16). One type of stigma is called public stigma, which is
the reaction the general population has to people with mental illness (Corrigan 16).
The media plays a large role in creating stereotypes and misconceptions. People
tend to believe whatever they see on television, in movies, on the Internet, etc.
Three of the common misconceptions created by the media are, people with
mental illness are homicidal maniacs who need to be feared; they have childlike
perceptions of the world that should be marveled; or they are responsible for their
illness because they have weak character. (Corrigan 29 32). These are traits most
frequently used to describe those with mental illness and almost all of them are
inaccurate. While, yes, there are people who do possess one or more of those
traits, they are almost never seen out and about in daily life. The media has an
unfortunate responsibility in properly portraying any sort of minority, but yet they
still continue to misrepresent these groups. The only reason public stigma really
exists is because people are not fully educated on what it is actually like to have a
mental illness. The media s poor representation is all they know. If the media were to
either stop misrepresenting mental illness victims, or portray them in a way that is

In 1993, AU Bon Pain Company purchased the Saint Louis Bread Company. In 1995,
top management at Au Bon Pain instituted a comprehensive overhaul of the newly
acquired Saint Louis Bread locations. The overhaul included altering the menu and
the dining atmosphere. The vision was to create a specialty cafe anchored by an
authentic, fresh dough artisan bakery and upscale quick service menu selections.
This acquisition proved successful for Au Bon Pain. Between 1993 and 1997, average
unit volumes at the revamped locations increased by 75% and over 100 additional
locations were opened. In 1997, the bakery cafes were renamed Panera bread in

Resilience In The Glass Castle
My Definition Of Resilience This summer I read The Glass Castle by Jeannette

just seemed to get better and better as I kept reading. Wall s novel is recognized as a
remarkable memoir of redemption and resilience. But what is resilience? To be honest
I couldn t really truly comprehend what resilience was. I had a very vague definition
of it, but, not anything I could explain with certainty. In this paper I will find my own
definition of resilience, which ll not only help me finish a summer assignment but

Causes And Disadvantages Of Refugees
According to UNHCR (2017a), there are, currently, 22.5 million of refugees in the
world. Comparing to the world population reported in United Nations (2017), it
can be calculated as three refugees in every 1,000 people. Nowadays, most of the
people who have escaped from their own countries are Syrian. Since 2011, the
beginning of Syrian civil war, total registered Syrian refugees are 17.5 million
people (UNHCR, 2017b). From the UNHCR database, most of them are living in
neighbouring countries such as Lebanon and Turkey. Some of them seek asylum in
developed countries, particularly in Europe. Germany is the European country that
holds the largest Syrian refugeepopulation, accounting for approximately 0.8 million
(UNHCR, 2017b). The large population of refugee can affect to economy,
environment, society, and politics. Some people say that new coming refugees can
fulfil labour market and establish the multicultural societies which motivate
international trade. However, the host nations will not benefit from refugees due to
the needs of high cost of management for labour force preparation and risk of social
conflict caused by cultural difference.
Accepting refugees for work forces need a large amount of the budget for refugees
workforce preparation and not every country can support the cost. This is because
the budget needed for refugees as workforce s preparation is high, due to spending
for teaching courses (such as language, working skills, and social norm), as well as
The Antithesis Area
The Antithesis Area is affiliated to a point in time, such as the end of a budgetary

As apparent in the illustration, Absolute Costs cover alone those costs you can clue

Indirect Costs are those you can t clue to anniversary job, but you can clue to

One added confounding frequently apparent is the analysis of accomplishment and

Hillsborough Tragedy Of 1989 Research Paper
The Hillsborough tragedy of 1989 was a disaster that took over the UK like a
storm. Where at a Liverpool FC football match, there was a surge of fans entering
the stadium this caused overcrowding and 96 lives were lost due to being crushed
against a fence, which separated the pitch and the fans. Because of this tragedy
there were huge debates about whether standing was to be allowed at football
matches any longer, people that debated the subject ranged from the general public
to MPs. After the disaster, there was a law brought into place to ban standing at
football. However, this law has changed throughout the years and is now very close
to being taken away completely. Each team have a wide variety of fans, including

The Power Of A Child s Imagination

Film Studies 101
November 19, 15
The Power of a Child s Imagination Guillermo del Toro, a respected director has
been credited for many of his films. Among his popular Pan s Labyrinth, del Toro
exposes his true power as a filmmaker in his movie as the innocent is lured by the
power of imagination. Ofelia s traumatic young experiences are influencing her
imaginary gateways to new worlds. In this movie, Guillermo del Torouses different
elements of film style to get an insight of Ofelia s vivid and detailed imagination of
how her imaginary world is much preferred over her realistic world. At the begging
of the movie, we can see del Toro s use of mise en scene appear to set the mood of
the film. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Del Toro s use of lighting and color allowed us to explore and comprehend Ofelia s
thoughts and shows clues for the movie s implicit meaning. Lighting used in
Ofelia gives us a better understanding between her reality and fantasy. A strong
example would be towards the end of the movie when her father shoots Ofelia. The
colors turned dark and as the whole place went shadowy showing the misery of
Ofelia s realistic world as she dies slowly. Suddenly, bright yellow lights pervaded
the scene as Ofelia turn into Princess Moana. Del Toro s slight change of color had
created two completely different worlds, one where imagination provides
immortality, and a realistic one where death is not an option. Ofelia s room is dark
and there is barely any light, which portrays her reality. Nevertheless, in the
mystical underground of the pale man s home the light is relatively brighter, which
just goes to show that Ofelia s realistic life is depressing. Her imagination,
however, is not astonishing but is preferred over her reality. She enters the
paranormal underground wearing a full green dress and Ofelia s face is saturated.
Green is the color of nature; it symbolizes freshness, fertility, and holds with it a
strong emotional correspondence with safety. The color of her dress has successfully
shown her dream of escaping the real world and entering the unknown world. This
indirectly indicates Ofelia s passionate personality when she is aware that her
A Rhetorical Analysis Of Nelson Mandela s Speech
When we remember Nelson Mandela, most people think of social change, of
leadership and of humanity. Mandela dedicated his life to his belief of equality and
freedom for people in South Africa. As a strong supporter of freedom of speech,
Mandela is one of the most revered speakers of the 20th century. He was born in a
small village in the eastern cape of South Africaon July 18, 1918. Nelson studied law
in the university of Fort Hare but never completed his degree. In 1941, he moved to
Johannesburgwhere he encountered the racism led by the apartheid government. To
further pursue his law studies, he began attending meetings of the ANC (African
National Congress) an anti apartheid group. The ANC aimed to transform into a

By thanking his supporters, he encourages continuous support to pursue his ideal of
equality and freedom. Mandela wants to engage the different dichotomies to unite
the people of South Africa. Most importantly he speaks for the abolishment of the
apartheid government. His tone is passionate and motivational, and his delivery is
slow and deliberate which is important to convey his message as he needs to
empower his listeners towards action. With methods of development, he successfully
conveys his tone. Using anaphora at the beginning with his salutations, he is able to
emphasize his thankful sentiments towards his supporters. He also uses lots of
symbolism and patriotism to emotionally appeal to citizens. With parallelism in
sentences, he creates balance and rhythm in his speech. Repetition is used when
speaking about things he intends to do. For example, he repeatedly uses negotiate
to emphasize its necessity. The speech in my opinion is very effective because
Mandela uses emotional appeal at the start to engage listeners and to receive
sympathy. With the momentum from that, he adds logical and ethical arguments to
deliver his point. A year later Mandela was elected as president and he won the
Nobel Peace Prize so history can confirm its effectiveness. Nelson Mandela was a
very influential speaker, allowing him to become one of the most influential leaders
of the 20th
The Pros And Cons Of Bioterrorism
Bioterrorism is the deliberate release of viruses, bacteria, toxins or other harmful
agents to cause illness or death in people, livestock, or crops. These agents are
typically found in nature, but could be mutated or altered to increase their ability to
cause disease, make them resistant to current medicines, or to increase their ability to
be spread into the environment. Bacillus anthracis is one of the most popular agents
to be used in a bioterrorismattack. Anthraxcould be used in many forms, for example,
it can be placed into letters and mailed, much like the 2001 anthrax attack, anthrax
can be released into the air where the spores can be easily blown by the wind and
inhaled or can be carried around on objects such as people s clothes to which it has...

Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by gram positive, rod shaped bacteria known
as Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax can be transmitted via airborne methods such as
bioterrorism, where it is used as a weapon and released into the air to cause infection,
or by breathing in anthrax spores from infected animal products such as wool.
Humans can also become infected by direct contact, from handling infected animal
products, or by vehicular transmission from eating undercooked meat from infected
animals causing gastrointestinal anthrax. Anthrax is not passed from one person to
another. (Arthur Schoenstadt, 2017).
The virulence factors of anthrax are encoded on two large pathogenicity related
plasmids. The virulence factors of anthrax are the capsule and endotoxin production
(Fasanella, 2013). The capsule of the bacterium aids in attachment to the host and
prevents phagocytosis by the host immune system. Once the anthrax spores are
lodged into the skin or lungs, the bacteria rapidly begin growth, producing a deadly
tripartite endotoxin which affects cell metabolism. This toxin is composed of three
proteins which are the Protective Antigen (PA), the Edema Factor (EF) and the Lethal
Factor
My Life Of Adventures And Travels
In my entire life of adventures and travels, I had never seen anything this beautiful
before. It was December of 2013 and as I stepped off of the British Airways
airplane, after fifteen hours of flying time, with an hour layover in Heathrow
Airport in London, I was exhausted and did not want anything more than to be
under a heavenly cloud of a European duvet. As we exited the terminal and entered
our driver s car, a gust of icy, cold wind struck me like a slap. Our driver took my
family and me on a late night tour of the city that I begrudgingly tried to absorb like
an already wet sponge. Then I saw it: a city that was a sparkling goddess in the
night. Paris, the city of lights. As we drove on, I slipped in and out of drowsy
consciousness. I dreamed about the tons of activities that I desired to do over the
planned month in Paris. Wake up sweetheart , murmured my mom, we re home . I
slowly opened my eyes, and mindlessly took some of the five suitcases up to the
flat along with my mom, brother, and driver. When all of the bags were in their
place, I noticed the long, white, think, closed curtains. They were becoming me to
open them and reveal what lay on the other side. As I pulled the curtains aside, the
blinding lights forced my eyes to adjust, like a deer in headlights. What stood before
my eyes was the legendary, world renown, Eiffel Tower. I must be sleeping, this is
not real, I continuously told myself. Mom, Brad, come here! Quickly! Quickly! , I
exclaimed,
The Cocktail Party Effect Essay On Selective Attention
Have you ever ignored the phone ringing to focus on something more important or
more interesting to you? Something such as diving into a mouthwatering
thanksgiving day meal, or sleeping in and enjoying that wonderful dream you were
having? Do you tend to forget the details that some others seem to notice? When
doing a task that is tedious or detail oriented, do you notice what it is that you are
working on but not whatever it is that is going on around you? If you answered yes to
any of these questions, then you suffer from selective attention. However there is no
need t panic. Why, you may ask? Every human being has selective attention. Selective

It has a limited capacity, (Dewey 1). 100 percent of human beings have selective
attention. Essentially, it is built into our hard drive. Everyone knows that being
forgetful is a part of being human. Although our brain works hard to store memories
for us, it leaves out many key details, ideas, feelings, or objects. Selective attention is
one of the main causes of being forgetful, and the Bottleneck Theory, the Cocktail
Party Effect, the Filter Theory, and Fagley s Survey, will explain why people do not
retain as much information at once.
1. The Bottleneck Theory
The first theory to look at is the Bottleneck Theory from the 1950 s by Donald
Broadbent. Along with Broadbent, others also created bottleneck modeled theories.
These people include Treisman and Deutsch. Their, Models of Attention are all
bottleneck models because they predict we cannot consciously attend to all of our
sensory input at the same time, (Selective Attention 1). However, Broadbent is
recognized as one of the major contributors when it came to the research involved in
this theory. He related selective attention to our working memory which is, that which
holds our attention, and it works as our limited capacity storage.
Ilocos History
Ilocos Ilocos collectively refers to two provinces in the Philippines: Ilocos Norte
and Ilocos Sur. Inhabitants are called Ilocanos and they speak the language Iloko,
also called Ilocano. The Ilocos Region, containing four provinces, is named after
Ilocos. 28% of the inhabitants of the region are Pangasinan people, who belong to
a different ethnolinguistic group from the Ilocanos. In the 330 pages The Ilocos
Heritage (the 27th book written by Visitacion de la Torre), the Ilocano legacy and

The region was later called by the Spaniards as Ylocos or Ilocos and its people
Ilocanos . The Ilocos Region was already a thriving, fairly advanced cluster of
towns and settlements familiar to Chinese, Japanese and Malay traders when the
Spaniard explorer Don Juan de Salcedo and members of his expedition arrived in
Vigan on June 13, 1572. Forthwith, they made Cabigbigaan (Bigan), the heart of
the Ylokos settlement their headquarters which Salcedo called Villa Fernandina
and which eventually gained fame as the Intramuros of Ilocandia . Salcedo
declared the whole Northern Luzon as an encomienda. Subsequently, he became
the encomendero of Vigan and Lieutenant Governor of the Ylokos until his death
in July 1574. Augustinian missionaries joined the military forces in conquering the
region through evangelization. They established parishes and built churches that
still stand today. Three centuries later, Vigan became the seat of the Archdiocese
of Nueva Segovia. A royal decree of February 2, 1818 separated Ilocos Norte from
Ilocos Sur, the latter to include the northern part of La Union (as far as
Namacpacan, now Luna) and all of what is now the province of Abra. The sub
provinces of Lepanto and Amburayan in Mt. Province were annexed to Ilocos Sur.

present geographical boundary of the province. The names of famous men and

Medical Ethics Of The Pharmaceutical Field
In the pharmaceutical field, there is a lot of controversy when it comes to doctors
prescribing certain medications to patients; such as oxycodone. Some citizens
hold the government accountable for addicting patients to oxycodone, but in
reality the ones to blame are the doctors and pharmaceutical scientist. The
government may have allowed doctors to prescribe these medications but there are
also laws created to prevent doctors from abusing the right to prescribe oxycodone.
The most common controlled substance that is prescribed is oxycodone which is
also known as a narcotic. According to Kimberly Holland oxycodone works by
triggering consumer s nerves and preventing the body to send signals of pain to
the brain. Many patients after they begin to take this medication they just want to
keep on taking them. Kimberly Holland also believes that doctor need to become
aware of is to whom these prescriptions are being prescribed to. This medication
should be taken into consideration before ingesting. In todays date its fairly easy for
a patient to get a prescription for oxycodone. Doctor s need to watch what person
they are prescribing oxycodone to. When this medication is ingested the person fairly
becomes drugged, it is the same symptoms as taking any illegal drug. There are
mothers that after giving birth get prescribed this narcotic even though it is not
recommended for this type of situation. This is not healthy for the mother nor the
child. If a mother is taking this
Comparison Of Halo And Call Of War
Let s analyze this. Halo and its single player campaign held a vast universe and
followed the Spartan warriors into battle to save the Earth from the alien invasion
of 2 different races while Call of Duty has switched from World War 2 and the
Modern era. I must say, the World War 2 story lines were quite boring, being the
same in almost every way, but the Modern Warfare story line caught my attention.
With the evil villain Makarov and the twists and turns the story made in Modern
Warfare 2, I was on the edge of my seat. But, Halowas in every way better in the
single player front. Following genetically enhanced Spartan warriors into battle
fighting off hordes of aliens I was amazed with how deep the story got and how
Bungieused every asset they could to enhance the story further in a not so crazy way.
Ah co op. The lovely days of playing a game with a friend right beside you on a

Call of Duty didn t really bring that much uniqueness but it did help evolve the
modern fast paced shooter into what it is now. In addition, the 60 frames per
second on that game makes it a Call of Duty title while Halo and basically all other
games lack that aspect. As I ve said too many people, Halo is a crappy game at the
start that eventually evolves into a giant while CoD is awesome until exploits in the

more durable resistance against oat crown rust.
General Community Hospital

the facility as a general community hospital, and how did the market analysis validate

unlimited resources. Being in this situation, management must have understood that
their organization was in need of a change, and needed to differentiate themselves
from the competition. With this, they then conducted a market analysis to better

2.1.3The causes of inflation
There is so far no one definite cause for inflation, but two reasons could be
summarized (Investopedia What is Inflation). The first reason is demand; when
demand is growing faster than supply, prices will increase, hence caused inflation.
This will usually occur in growing economies. And the second reason is cost; when
demand rises, firms increase their demand for resources such as additional labour
and machineries, hence the rise in production costs and caused inflation. In short, a
key feature of inflation is that it relates to the amount of demand in the economy.
Inflation tends to rise when, at the current price level, demand for goods and
services in the economy is greater than the economy s ability to produce goods and
services its output. One of the original descriptions of inflation remains valid too
much money chases too few goods. (Bank of England What causes inflation)

My First Job At Dsw
Upon applying to my first job at DSW as a high school student, the only thought in
my mind was the ability to make my own money and spend it how I choose.
However, now as I am about to graduate, I have acquired more wisdom and
understanding when it comes to selecting a job for myself. Money is only part of the
equation to truly being satisfied with a job. The other parts of the equation include:
management, the team, challenges, and a company s values.
Management is key when it comes to applying for a job. Matter of fact it is so
important that I was advised by the mentors in my life to keep that in the forefront
of my mind when considering any job and/or internship. It is key for a manager to
provide regular feedback on my performance.

opinions in considering and representing facts. When I receive an average grade in
a class, I compare myself to a student received an A. This motivates me to look up
to that classmate as a mentor to enhance myself. It is important to have the attitude
that you are cable and you can improve rather than the opposite, I am unable and I
can not improve. This method is called the upward social comparison, which can
make us feel worse or they inspire us to do better (Weiten, 2015, pg, 171). I am
guilty of downward social comparison when I receive a bad grade (C) on a test. If
the teacher announced that half the class failed, my mind would be at ease.
Downward social comparison can make us feel better (Weiten, 2015, pg, 171). The
reference groups that I compare my academic performance with is my fellow
colleagues. Weiten, W., Dunn, D., Hammer, E. Y. (2018). Psychology applied to
modern life: adjustment in the 21st century. Boston, MA: Cengage Learning. The
test defines a person in two different categories, either your one (A) or the other (B).

Communism In Jennifer Rich s The Garden Party
The Garden Party was one of her most prominent works that displayed all these
things that the critics have talked about. Jennifer Rich says that The Garden Party,
was the work of the growth of a young character. It shows much improvement into the
life of the character which it showcases. It is also believed that the Marxist movement
had a huge impact on the writingof this story. The story starts out very serene and
calm and then turns into a somewhat type of chaos. She used this short storyto express
her feelings and how she felt on the matter of death. She often uses comical
resolutions that offer understanding although they are often very ridiculous. She
demonstrates the different classes of people in this story and how they carry on their...

Miss Brill is a spinster who is a very lonely woman who doesn t have much more
than the students she teaches. As in some of her other important works she is a
lonely character. The character s appearance in Miss Brill greatly reflects the
thoughts and issues that could have been going on in her life. Robert Peltier
notices how well she conveys herself while she was a young writer. He gives
examples as to how she gives great detail into the lives of her characters in this
story. Miss Brill has a very boring life, she goes through the same routine every
single day and when she goes against the flow of things everything falls apart. It
shows how she is not contempt with the life she has and tries to do something new
and shows her the life she has is much better than anything else she could ve been
doing. This is a great example of her use in epiphany, which also somewhat shows
up in The Garden Party. The same type problem is prominent in The Garden Party,
where the girl is not contempt with the life she has and finally comes to a
realization where other people have it much worse than she does. Clare Hanson and
Andrew Gurr agree that Miss Brill is a very emotional story that has many good
points. They also agree like in many other stories on how she uses symbolism to
express their feelings ( Short Stories for

Introduction:
Since the past two decades, China had experienced continuous growth of economy

Architectural professional practice is a relatively regional field in which architects
conduct their comprehensive manner in a specific localized territory. Due to the
current fact that more and more American architects practice in China, it is not an
easy time for them to interact or communicate with remote brains on the other side of
earth. The different cultural and social backgrounds have become the source of
misunderstanding and problems in the process of cooperation, which may lead to
unfavorable consequences. As a Chinese architectural student who has studied in
America and worked in local projects for the U.S. architectural firm, I have
experienced many differences between the two sides. My instructor and professor in
the Graduate School of Architecture, University of Southern California, who has
practical experience in China, once told me, It was totally misunderstood when my

Minh Kane Diary Entry
Finger on the trigger of her gun, Lana Kane doesn t twitch a muscle out of place
even in the dark. She d taken this assignment from Mallory because it had sounded
simple. Chase down an unnamed ally, and extract him back to their Manhattan
headquarters. The chase down had been fairly simple. Lana was mentally checking
that box in her head. Mallory had passed her a tip that the ally had been last seen
here, so Lana picked the lock, broke in, and here she was. Gundrawn, in the dark,
awaiting detection by a possible ally.
So here s a dumb question; why are you in my house? Lana heard the click of a
cocked gun behind her, and decided which way to play this.
How well do you know a Mallory Archer? Lana spun, reaching for the assailant s gun
in the dark and disarmed him, a knee to his face for good measure.

gun on her and actually gotten the drop on her for like. Point five seconds. At least
some of those stories certainly sounded believable now.
Archer belched, and reached for his gun back from Lana s hand. Still slowly.
So you ve heard of me? Yeah, doesn t surprise me. Hard to be the best secret agent

situation you clearly know nothing about... Ms. Breaking and entering. Speaking of

That s Ms. Kane, thanks. Lana smoothed her skirt, and reminded herself about the
mission. About the extraction. About the ways that the who of this shouldn t

Turnover In Australia Essay
Turnover has a negative connotation attached to it, with good reason. Not many
people would want to tell someone that they have been fired or that they quit their
job because maybe they found it hard or going through something which is stopping
them from doing the job. There are many reasons for turnover. Explored in this essay
is why people work in the first place. From this information, we can get more details
of the reasons for turnover and how Australia compares to other countries. But before
exploring that we should look at what turnover is, different types of turnover and is
turnover always a bad thing? It is then necessary to look at turnover implications for
human resource management(HRM). Lastly, it is helpful to look at identify... Show

Thus, turnover is not always negative, but there could be implications for HRM,
and retention strategies don t always do the best to keep employees, as they need
to look at the deeper reasons why people work to make retention strategies more
effective. Let s begin by exploring why people work to maybe get a deeper
understanding for the reasons for turnover.
Before exploring the reasons for employee turnover, we need to explore the
reasons behind why people work. This can give a deeper understanding why
people want to leave their work life. As argued by Noon, Blayton, Morrell (2013),
there are two main features which underlie why people work. These features are
the economic necessity to work and the moral necessity to work. Thus, to begin
we can look at working to live. This meaning that people work to get paid and live
a normal standard of living (food, housing and so on.) however, is it not fair to
argue that this is the entire reason why people work? As Noon, Blayton, Morrell
(pg. 52) argue most societies (especially Australia) provide a welfare system that
supposed to (in theory) fulfil these basic life essentials. Then, however, it can be
argued that people work to consume. Meaning
How Is Swaziland Different From The Federal Government

Federal Government 2305

The Kingdom of Swaziland No two governments are the same and some may as well
be complete opposites. Monarchies and Democracies differ in many ways, from the
court system to safety regulations. Swaziland is a place cut off from the ocean
desperately trying to become connected with the world. When comparing the United
States to Swaziland the perspective we have on our lives may change drastically. The
Kingdom of Swaziland was born in liberation from Britain and raised in massive
turmoil caused by AIDS/HIV, mother nature, and unrest by the many who want
change. Swaziland is quite unconventional when it comes government, they are the

Swaziland s debt mainly coming from the ostentatious king with an expensive taste
spending the country s money on flashy toys. King Mswati III is pathetic, much of
the population is suffering from starvation and Mswati has spent millions of
dollars on personal luxuries. The Kingdom of Swaziland has the world s highest
HIV infected population, which does not seem to phase the king at all because
little to no funding has been offered by the Swazi government to help the crisis
(Policy Brief). The American president has much less power compared to the
King. King Mswati has amnesty to do anything he wants, while in the United
States our president has to be treated fairly, with only a few executive privileges.
Our 44th and current president Barack Hussein Obama II is one to care about the
people, recently proposing Obamacare to give healthcare to all. Obama and
Mswati are opposites when it comes to the way the interact with the citizens,
Obama being open and seen publicly often. Mswati on the other hand has been one
to leave the country for weeks at a time on his private jet, likely to avoid his
problems. Mswati is rarely seen publicly. Talking to your followers is the best way to

Ping Sweep And Port Scan Essay
In today s world the criminals come in different forms. One could say we live in the
technological age and this means that threats are not only physical but virtual as well.
Hackers can now steal your personal information from data being sent over
cyberspace. If you are not careful and take necessary precautions then people with ill
intent and computerintelligence can make your life miserable. Two ways hackers
can accomplish this are called ping sweeps and port scans. A ping sweep is a
simple scanning technique used to determine which of a range of specific IP
addresses connect to what device. In contrast, a single ping will tell you whether one
specified host computer exists on the network, a ping sweep consists of ECHO

A port scan can be used for benign reasons as they are tool for network
administrators to see what services are running on the machine. The scan sends a
signal to each port one at a time and depending on the type of response the port is
deemed open or closed. A port scan is a method used by intruders to discover the
services running on a target machine. It allows the attacked to see which ports are
more vulnerable than others. It is equivalent to a burglar or thief canvassing a
whole neighborhood to see which houses are less protected and more vulnerable.
There are ways to defend yourselves from this type of attack but it requires one to
assume that you are vulnerable completely. No one machine on a network is
completely safe from an intruder. There are numerous products that can help protect
you from these types of intrusions but simply turning your unused services off can
be the biggest step toward securing your ports. For example, in a Windows XP
platform you would click on start, then run, type services.msc without the quotes,
and click ok. After that a list of services will appear (Facts, 2014). Then you would
choose which services to disable and you re

You must look at the color, the consistency, the clarity and the shape of the aura.
There are specific meanings for each of the colors of the aura which we will deal
with in a separate chapter. The primary colors have set meanings, but a
combination color such as a reddish brown would take on qualities of both colors.
And how clear and bright the color is, is very important to the interpretation,
because a bright color means something very different than a dull color. As you
learn about the colors you will also learn about where on the body the color is.
Each chakra in the body is associated with a certain color so don t be surprised to
find that color near that chakra. Colors around one area can mean one thing and
around a different area mean something completely different. When we look at a
person s aura we are looking at their true self, everything that is left after you take
away all the habits, mannerisms, the people they pretend to be, and their frivolous,
trivial behavior. Their aura shows who they truly are not the facade they show
everyone in public. In general, the more balanced the aura, the healthier and more
stabilized the person is. When taking in the whole aura you also may notice holes in
some places. This can mean an injury or sickness, in some cases that the person isn t

Is Golf A Sport
To begin with, a lot of people these days argue about if golf is a sport or not. If you
look up the word sport in dictionaries golf meets that definition. Golf also burns off
a lot of calories while playing the sport. If golf wasn t a sport than why should other
things be called a sport. Golf is part of the sports category because it requires muscles
and physical exertion, you compete against other players, and it has everything that
other sports have.
First of all, golf is a sport because it requires muscles use and physical exertion.
When you take a swing in golf you use at least 17 muscles through your body. the
average golfer will walk up to four miles in a single round of golf (Fitness Health

How Does Langston Hughes Use Poetic Devices In Mother
To Son
Langston Hughes was the leader of the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem
Renaissance was the name given to the cultural and artist explosion that took place
in Harlem between the end of WWI and the middle of the 1930 s. Hughes grew up,
without his dad, being raised by his single mother alone. They lived in poverty for all
of Hughes s upbringing. Langston Hugheswrote a poem in 1922 called Mother to
Son . In this poem Hughes wrote about going through the struggles of an
impoverished life and overcoming them. Hughes used various poetic devices to
convey the hardships of life and how to keep going. In my essay I am going to
contextualize the poem and expound on the use of symbolism and poetic moves used
to convey the message of the poem. Symbolism is when mundane things are used to
represent ideas and different emotions. The title of this poem is very important to
discuss when analyzing this poem. The title is Mother to Son , this is the first thing

Hughes really drives this theme home with certain lines in the poem. The speaker
of this poem says I se been a climbin on (Hughes 1). This statement is very
important in this poem. When the speaker says this, the reader knows right away
that despite the bad things that happen in life the speaker is still moving forward.
The speaker is saying this to her son so that in life he does not give up. When the
speaker says that she keeps climbing, she means that she will not stop no matter
what comes in her way. If one correlates this poem to Langston Hughes life, one
can find deeper meaning. Langston Hughes was a black man in the 1900 s and life
for black men in general is not easy. Hughes s mother is telling him, yes life will be
hard and nothing will be handed to you but you have to keep moving towards your
destiny. His mother was really trying to stress the importance of moving forward.
This was a very important
A Take On Tattoos In Modern Society
A Take on Tattoos in Modern Society
During the last 20 years, and especially during the last ten to eight years, there has
been a dramatic increase in the popularity of tattoos, which are in demand by all
classes of society today (Serup 15). It is no lie to state that there is a visible
popularity surge in tattoos from the last decade, and the number continues to rise.
One of the possible explanations for this increase might be that tattoos have evolved
to become part of the mainstream media or trend which mainly sprouted from the
middle class. Other explanations have said that tattoos reflect the time and society
and change when it occurs, but also self expression. One thing for certain amidst all
the explanations is that tattoos hold a significant element in redefining society in its
control and setting of norms. In an interesting journal excerpt, Why Do People Get
Tattoos? it explains that there have been perceptions of tattooed women having
transient sexual relationships and thus being labeled as being from the lower class
throughout history. The article continues to delve deeper into the subject by giving
an example of a rape case which was dropped by a lawyer due to the victim having a
tattoo (Kang, Jones 352). It is interesting to see the negative connotations some have
of tattooed women because they do not fit into the society s ideal standard of
femininity and immediately think it lessens the woman s class, even to the point
where they would not defend them in a court case. Although many would like to
think that tattoos have provided women an opportunity to challenge the said
traditional standards of femininity, not all believe so. On the contrary, some believe
that women use their tattoos to enforce these standards rather than empower
themselves. Similarly, men have also shown to use their tattoos to reinforce
traditional notions of masculinity (Kang, Jones 352). The debate can go either way,
but mainly it depends on the individual and their reason to get inked in the first place.
This article conveys the relevance of why women and men get tattoos and shows
overlap in some of the reasons between the two genders. Another journal article,

The Secret Lives Of Cows
Amarah Said Ahmed Professor Aron Creller (GW)Contemporary Ethical Issues 9
December 2014 The Secret Lives of Cows For centuries the welfare of our world s
animals has been an ongoing issue. Even in our modern, civil, and advanced
society animals are still treated unfairly living horrible lives for our own benefit .
When the term animal abuse comes to mind, it often brings up images of puppies
or kittens being hit or left out on the streets to die, although this is abuse that
presents a massive ethical issue there are many others as well. Many fail to realize
that at the root of their juicy burgers, or tasty ice cream cones lays the deep dark
secret life of cows. The welfare and lives of cows on industrial factory farms that
produce meat and dairy for our society present a big contemporary ethical issue.
Countless cows die every day due to the conditions, and ongoing torment that goes
on in the industrial factory farms. Although the United States has created laws to
try to help these animals, many of the laws are either vague or poorly regulated or
enforced; this is proved by the typical life of a cow used for food. From the time a
cow is born to the time it dies, its life is full of countless trials and tribulations of
poor welfare and lack of rights, which is unethical in more ways than one. Cows
that live on factory farms have two purposes; they are used for either beef or dairy.
According to the National Cattlemen s Beef Association the beef industry as of 2014
is a

Racist Essay. Young Writers Express Their Inspiring Views on Remedies for Racism ...

  • 1. Racist Essay Writing an essay on a sensitive and controversial topic such as racism can be an intricate and challenging task. The difficulty lies not only in the complexity of the subject matter but also in the need to navigate through the emotional and often polarized perspectives surrounding it. Crafting an essay on racism requires a careful balance between presenting factual information, analyzing historical and sociocultural contexts, and addressing the emotional impact of the topic on individuals and communities. The challenge intensifies as the writer strives to maintain an objective tone while addressing the inherent emotional weight that racism carries. It involves delving into the uncomfortable truths of systemic discrimination, historical injustices, and the ongoing struggles faced by marginalized communities. Navigating the intricacies of language and ensuring that the essay promotes understanding rather than further division is crucial. Moreover, writing on racism demands a deep understanding of the diverse experiences and perspectives of those affected by it. This necessitates extensive research to grasp the historical roots of racism, its manifestations across different cultures, and the ongoing efforts to combat it. Balancing the portrayal of systemic issues with the individual experiences of those affected adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. In conclusion, tackling the topic of racism in an essay requires not only a mastery of writing skills but also a commitment to empathy, sensitivity, and a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of the subject. It demands a delicate balance between presenting facts, acknowledging emotional nuances, and fostering a constructive dialogue. Crafting an impactful essay on racism is a formidable task that necessitates diligence, empathy, and a dedication to fostering understanding. • 2. The Paradox In Robert Heinlein s All You Zombies All You Zombies, by Robert Heinlein, is a famous science fiction story that entwined one of the best paradoxes. The idea of one person being everyone, including her own mother, father and daughter and has to continuously leap through time to be able to exist. Despite that paradox isn t revealed until near the end of the story, it is symbolised through the bartenders ring of a snake eating it s own tail. Heinlein also shows how the paradox might affect a person s view of the world through the idea of solipsism. The main point, however, is how the paradox is literally everything in the story. The Unmarried Mother, or Jane before the sex change, is the protagonist in the story, and all the other characters of the story as well. Although in most cases this would be impossible, the story is a paradox. A paradox, something that seems possible until further investigated and found that it is logically unacceptable, is the very reason Jane exists. Jane was unknowingly born a hermaphrodite, and lived unhappily in an orphanage. As the story progressed, she meets a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Near the end of the story, Jane travels to their personal quarters and thinks about presence. I know where I came from but where did all you zombies come from?... You Aren t really there at all. There isn t anybody but me jane here alone in the dark, knowing that their life is based off a paradox, Jane starts to wonder how everything else is out there before stating that there is only Jane. This way of thinking is Solipsism, the idea that the mind is the only thing that can be known to exist and anything outside the mind is unwarranted. This is a motivation for Jane to continue to replay the paradox over and over again, because Jane is everything. Jane is every person, Jane is the reason behind everything and Jane is the
  • 3. How Did The Atlantic Slave Trade Affect Society Over a period of time, thousands of men, woman and children went through a devastating time due to the fact that they were forced to move from their homeland to be held captive as slaves. The whole process of the slave trade had massive effects on the people themselves and for Africa as well. The slave trade was fierce and terrible, and the subjugation of Africans was merciless and dehumanizing. This period in history was seen as one of the longest and supported strikes on the lives of individuals. The staggering effect on Africaof its contribution in the formation of the slave trade was negative. There was an extreme decrease in population and their involvement in this period had an effect on their social and political standing which could eventually result in colonial domination. In this essay, the impact of the Atlantic Slave Tradewill be discussed and how the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in the slave business, male slaves were wanted more than females were wanted 4 . There are numerous amounts of negative outcomes that occurred when the Atlantic Slave Trade occurred. Not only did it affect the economic state on some of the states, but politically it was tampered on as well. Due to the fact that African Kings become so invested into the slave business, civil wars continue to happen within their societies and this had eventually made them weak enough. Focusing on the fact that the Atlantic Slave Trade resulted in colonization, the African states were being used by the Europeans and in return the Europeans continued to exploit African resources. This all resulted in Europeans economic stand to be way more than th economic stand of those in the African states

This invasive procedure was tested on as many as 50,000 institutionalized mad patients. This was a desperate procedure, and was only used when all other forms of treatment failed. Creating a lot of havoc in the lives of both family and friends of the returning veteran. • 5. Social Classes In The Leopard A major part of society, ranging from the beginning of time until present day, has been the aspect of social classes and the distinguishing features between the different levels. In Giuseppe Di Lampedusa s novel The Leopard, through the use of different characters to symbolize the different social classes and the relationships between them, the author successfully distinguished and defined the different groups in nineteenth century Italian society. A special spotlight is shown on the aristocracy as that is the class the main character, Prince Fabrizio, belongs to. It is seen through the novel quite clearly the distinction between the different social classes, the relationships between them, and why characters in the different classes behave as they do. The characters in this book that are members of the aristocracy are also a part of the royal, or now ex royal, Salinas family. Prince Fabrizio and his wife Princess Stella were born into this life of luxury. They even brought in a few children, Concetta and Paolo. Prince Fabrizio is an extremely dynamic character. He is used to being rich just because he was born rich and is not interested in working hard for what he has. He was presented with a job to work for the new Italian government but turned it down and recommended Don Calogero because of what seemed to be a lack of motivation to actually have to work in order to earn money. Fabrizio is described to be quick tempered and that is proven when he gets upset in the garden
  • 6. Reward Management Essay Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non monetary rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees, the organisation, and its shareholders (O Neil, 1998). In addition O Neil (1998) also suggests that a RM system can serve the purpose of attracting prospective job applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating employees, ensuring legal requirements relating to direct and indirect rewards are not violated, assisting the company in achieving human resourceand business objectives, and ultimately assisting the organisation in obtaining a competitive advantage. Various conflicts in the RM system can affect the benefits that can be obtained. It has been argued that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, Cascio (1991) suggests that the combination of the following five requirements along with a performance based pay system can also have a very significant impact on performance. The first of these is skill variety, where a wide variety of tasks or procedures is available to the employee. Next is task identity, where the employee can clearly identify the output of a task as a product of their efforts. This is followed by task significance, where the work is recognised as important and meaningful. After this comes autonomy, where the employees have a major say in work planning and execution. The final requirement is feedback, where employees receive constructive advice or criticism on their performance. The rewards offered can be extrinsic such as wages, incentives and bonuses, or intrinsic such as job satisfaction, an internal feeling of worth and a sense of well being on the job. O Neil (1998) suggests six minimal criteria for the design of a performance based pay system. The first of these criteria is that the reward system should be self funding, that is, the performance increases should as a minimum offset the cost of the rewards provided. The second criterion is that the distribution of the rewards must be consistent, fair and justifiable. In addition reward plans must be transparent and clearly communicated. The third criterion

This film is about a person who lives with a roommate, and has a porcelain doll that they ve loved dearly since their childhood. However, one day the person comes home upset and throws the doll down, knocking one of the eyes out. Devastated about the damage, the person throws the doll in the trash. The roommate is a bit surprised and kind of frightened by this, given the fact that the doll had been loved exceedingly by the person in the past. The person invites the policemen in, who gesture about how they heard raised voices and came to investigate. The person waves an arm, showing that the house is theirs to search. Cut to a shot of the door, we see the knob rattle. The policemen see this, and, a little later, so does the person. The person tries to stop the knob from rattling, but the policemen are already heading over. The person gives up and lets the policemen unlock and open the door. There is nothing there, to the relief of the person. Then, the roommate comes running up the stairs and out of the basement. The police ask if the roommate rattled the doorknob, but the roommate seems to have no idea what they re talking about. Puzzled, the person leans in closer to the door. We cut to a shot from within the basement staircase, and see the person lean closer and closer to the camera. All of a sudden, the doll leaps out from behind the camera and onto the person, attacking them. The screen goes black. This serves as a PG version of the original tale, but without sacrificing any of the crucial plot points of the source material. Most of the video will be shot on a tripod, with some handheld shots as well. The finished product will have a sepia filter. Since it is a silent film, there will be no sounds other than background music. As
  • 8. The Novel Legend, There Are A Wide Variety Of Characters... In Marie Lu s dystopian book Legend, there are a wide variety of characters with varying and backgrounds. Although the tale follows the lives of young girl June and outlaw Daniel (nicknamed Day), many side characters are also introduced and developed throughout the course of the book. All of these characters possess interesting names that enhance the plot in certain ways, and while most of the characters names fit them, some do not. To begin with, the name of the main character June refers to the month of the same name, which in turn was named for the Roman Goddess Juno. Furthermore, the exact meaning of Juno is not fully known, but it may be related to an Indo European root that translates to youth . Additionally, Juno was the queen of the heavens in Roman mythology. She was also the protectress of women and marriage, as well as the goddess of finance. June s name does a good job reflecting her personality, and matches many of her actions during the novel. To begin with, June is rather young at the point in time in which this story takes place, being about fifteen. However, the protectress quality functions as the central plot point in the book. Although June does not protect specifically women or marriage, she strongly believes in protecting what is right, and the shift in what she perceives as right drives the main plot between her and Day, as well as their connections to the Republic. At the beginning of the book, June is completely loyal to the Republic. When she

All the findings within this 12 month digital marketing plan has considered the company s broader corporate, marketing aims and objectives. The report has identified a lack of digital orientation and activity with WCT online presence which could be due to a lack of previous internal resources, the nature of competition within the taxi industry and the type of organisation. This provides WCT with the opportunity to exploit its strengths and position through e marketing techniques. The recommendation is to carry out a 12 month digital marketing plan which will produce responses from new and current WCT customers. The responses generated will be the product of a combined effort from WCT to improve its website, e mail marketing strategies, social media management and a selection of other e communication tools. A hands on rather than stand firm approach will ensure WCT digital marketing

In my ten years of theatre experience, I have been in and have seen so many different shows. However, I have never seen a show as complicated as Otterbein University s rendition of Caryl Churchill s play, Top Girls. Before I see a show, I usually have some knowledge or understanding of what the show is about, but this time around, I knew nothing of the show. After the show ended, I still had no clue what the show was truly about until someone explained it to me. When I arrived at Cowen Hall, I was unware that the seating was on the stage and we would be very close to the actors. I would consider our seating to be in the round, but only on three sides... When Act 1 ended, I was very confused and was not sure what was really happening. However, I realized after the show that all the characters in Act 1 had something in common. They all represent the injustice against women, which is a common theme throughout the rest of the play. All these characters have encountered hardship brought on by men. Although, it was never explained why Marlene invited these exact women to dinner, or even how she could have dinner with people from different periods of time. Act 2, Scene 1 began with Marlene interviewing Jeanine at the Top Girls Employment Agency, and asking some unorthodox questions. If Jeanine was married or engaged, had children or wanted children, and if she wanted more money. I have been through many interviews, and I have never been asked any of those questions. It felt like Marlene was examining Jeanine s life choices and was disappointed in them. This is the moment where I felt like there was something off with Marlene. Marlene clearly does not believe that woman can maintain a powerful career and family life simultaneously which is at the thematic

Diversification in NOCO s target markets is another avenue for Dyer to explore to expand his business. Consumers in Colorado are very interested in soccer. I believe kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community, and is also bad publicity. This has caused people to protest the NFL by doing things such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the anthem has caused a huge controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the attention of adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting more focus on politics. Which test was most accurate? Why? What might account for these differences? в—‹I do not believe that the submaximal tests were accurate. When comparing the relative predicted VO2MAX values, the non exercise test predicted 2.22 (L/min), the 1 mile walk/ run test predicted 2.62 (L /min), the step test predicted 2.04 (L/min), the YMCA cycle ergometer test predicted 1.83 (L/min), and the submax treadmill test predicted 2.22 (L/min). The most accurate of the submaximal tests was the submax treadmill test, as when compared to the 1 mile walk/run test, the predicted values were the same. For the most part, the submaximal testing predictions varied significantly when compared to each other, which is likely a result of testing discrepancies and error in measurements. To predict VO2MAX, all tests used an equation used for all populations, and is not specific to the client at all (Bennett et al., 2016). Additionally, it is likely that there were measurement errors taken during test such as being able to identify HR immediately after completion of the step test. The test, I believe, to be most accurate was the VO2MAX maximal graded exercise test. Although a true VO2MAX was not achieved, if the client could have lasted a few more seconds on the treadmill, it is likely that two

  • 30. Medical Ethics Of The Pharmaceutical Field In the pharmaceutical field, there is a lot of controversy when it comes to doctors prescribing certain medications to patients; such as oxycodone. Some citizens hold the government accountable for addicting patients to oxycodone, but in reality the ones to blame are the doctors and pharmaceutical scientist. The government may have allowed doctors to prescribe these medications but there are also laws created to prevent doctors from abusing the right to prescribe oxycodone. The most common controlled substance that is prescribed is oxycodone which is also known as a narcotic. According to Kimberly Holland oxycodone works by triggering consumer s nerves and preventing the body to send signals of pain to the brain. Many patients after they begin to take this medication they just want to keep on taking them. Kimberly Holland also believes that doctor need to become aware of is to whom these prescriptions are being prescribed to. This medication should be taken into consideration before ingesting. In todays date its fairly easy for a patient to get a prescription for oxycodone. Doctor s need to watch what person they are prescribing oxycodone to. When this medication is ingested the person fairly becomes drugged, it is the same symptoms as taking any illegal drug. There are mothers that after giving birth get prescribed this narcotic even though it is not recommended for this type of situation. This is not healthy for the mother nor the child. Halo and its single player campaign held a vast universe and followed the Spartan warriors into battle to save the Earth from the alien invasion of 2 different races while Call of Duty has switched from World War 2 and the Modern era. I must say, the World War 2 story lines were quite boring, being the same in almost every way, but the Modern Warfare story line caught my attention. With the evil villain Makarov and the twists and turns the story made in Modern Warfare 2, I was on the edge of my seat. But, Halowas in every way better in the single player front. Now Call of Duty...well Call of Duty didn t really bring that much uniqueness but it did help evolve the modern fast paced shooter into what it is now. In addition, the 60 frames per second on that game makes it a Call of Duty title while Halo and basically all other games lack that aspect. As I ve said too many people, Halo is a crappy game at the start that eventually evolves into a giant while CoD is awesome until exploits in the game are

Marker assisted /genomic assisted selection will be utilized for these traits. In oat, frequent changes in crown rust races significantly reduce the life span of major resistance genes, and new sources of resistance are often overcome less than 5 years after the release of new cultivars. While several major genes for resistance to crown rust will be combined in new germplasm, an emphasis will also be placed to develop germplasm with horizontal resistance (involving multiple genes with minor effects) to provide more durable resistance against oat crown rust.

The first reason is demand; when demand is growing faster than supply, prices will increase, hence caused inflation. This will usually occur in growing economies. And the second reason is cost; when demand rises, firms increase their demand for resources such as additional labour and machineries, hence the rise in production costs and caused inflation. In short, a key feature of inflation is that it relates to the amount of demand in the economy. Inflation tends to rise when, at the current price level, demand for goods and services in the economy is greater than the economy s ability to produce goods and services its output. We compare ourselves with other who are similar on to our characteristics or self worth. We compare ourselves to others when there is no influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts. When I receive an average grade in a class, I compare myself to a student received an A. This motivates me to look up to that classmate as a mentor to enhance myself. It is important to have the attitude that you are cable and you can improve rather than the opposite, I am unable and I can not improve. Thus, to begin we can look at working to live. This meaning that people work to get paid and live a normal standard of living (food, housing and so on.) however, is it not fair to argue that this is the entire reason why people work? Their aura shows who they truly are not the facade they show everyone in public. In general, the more balanced the aura, the healthier and more stabilized the person is. When taking in the whole aura you also may notice holes in some places. This can mean an injury or sickness, in some cases that the person isn t even aware of

Golf also burns off a lot of calories while playing the sport. If golf wasn t a sport than why should other things be called a sport. • 53. How Does Langston Hughes Use Poetic Devices In Mother To Son Langston Hughes was the leader of the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was the name given to the cultural and artist explosion that took place in Harlem between the end of WWI and the middle of the 1930 s. Hughes grew up, without his dad, being raised by his single mother alone. They lived in poverty for all of Hughes s upbringing. Langston Hugheswrote a poem in 1922 called Mother to Son . In this poem Hughes wrote about going through the struggles of an impoverished life and overcoming them. Hughes used various poetic devices to convey the hardships of life and how to keep going. In my essay I am going to contextualize the poem and expound on the use of symbolism and poetic moves used to convey the message of the poem. Symbolism is when mundane things are used to represent ideas and different emotions. The title of this poem is very important to discuss when analyzing this poem. The title is Mother to Son , this is the first thing that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hughes really drives this theme home with certain lines in the poem. The speaker of this poem says I se been a climbin on (Hughes 1). This statement is very important in this poem. When the speaker says this, the reader knows right away that despite the bad things that happen in life the speaker is still moving forward. The speaker is saying this to her son so that in life he does not give up. When the speaker says that she keeps climbing, she means that she will not stop no matter what comes in her way. If one correlates this poem to Langston Hughes life, one can find deeper meaning. Langston Hughes was a black man in the 1900 s and life for black men in general is not easy. Hughes s mother is telling him, yes life will be hard and nothing will be handed to you but you have to keep moving towards your destiny. His mother was really trying to stress the importance of moving forward. This was a very important
  • 54. A Take On Tattoos In Modern Society A Take on Tattoos in Modern Society During the last 20 years, and especially during the last ten to eight years, there has been a dramatic increase in the popularity of tattoos, which are in demand by all classes of society today (Serup 15). It is no lie to state that there is a visible popularity surge in tattoos from the last decade, and the number continues to rise. One of the possible explanations for this increase might be that tattoos have evolved to become part of the mainstream media or trend which mainly sprouted from the middle class. Other explanations have said that tattoos reflect the time and society and change when it occurs, but also self expression. One thing for certain amidst all the explanations is that tattoos hold a significant element in redefining society in its control and setting of norms. In an interesting journal excerpt, Why Do People Get Tattoos? it explains that there have been perceptions of tattooed women having transient sexual relationships and thus being labeled as being from the lower class throughout history. The article continues to delve deeper into the subject by giving an example of a rape case which was dropped by a lawyer due to the victim having a tattoo (Kang, Jones 352). It is interesting to see the negative connotations some have of tattooed women because they do not fit into the society s ideal standard of femininity and immediately think it lessens the woman s class, even to the point where they would not defend them in a court case. Although many would like to think that tattoos have provided women an opportunity to challenge the said traditional standards of femininity, not all believe so. On the contrary, some believe that women use their tattoos to enforce these standards rather than empower themselves. Similarly, men have also shown to use their tattoos to reinforce traditional notions of masculinity (Kang, Jones 352). The debate can go either way, but mainly it depends on the individual and their reason to get inked in the first place. This article conveys the relevance of why women and men get tattoos and shows overlap in some of the reasons between the two genders. Another journal article, Tattoos and Piercings:

The Secret Lives Of Cows Amarah Said Ahmed Professor Aron Creller (GW)Contemporary Ethical Issues 9 December 2014 The Secret Lives of Cows For centuries the welfare of our world s animals has been an ongoing issue. Even in our modern, civil, and advanced society animals are still treated unfairly living horrible lives for our own benefit . When the term animal abuse comes to mind, it often brings up images of puppies or kittens being hit or left out on the streets to die, although this is abuse that presents a massive ethical issue there are many others as well. Many fail to realize that at the root of their juicy burgers, or tasty ice cream cones lays the deep dark secret life of cows. The welfare and lives of cows on industrial factory farms that produce meat and dairy for our society present a big contemporary ethical issue. Countless cows die every day due to the conditions, and ongoing torment that goes on in the industrial factory farms. Although the United States has created laws to try to help these animals, many of the laws are either vague or poorly regulated or enforced; this is proved by the typical life of a cow used for food. From the time a cow is born to the time it dies, its life is full of countless trials and tribulations of poor welfare and lack of rights, which is unethical in more ways than one. Cows that live on factory farms have two purposes; they are used for either beef or dairy. According to the National Cattlemen s Beef Association the beef industry as of 2014 is a
