Comparing Frances Zefferilli s Hamlet and Shakespeare s Hamlet
I believe Frances Zefferilli s version of Shakespeare s Hamlet, made in 1990, is one
of the best versions of the play to be put onto screen. The film, starring Mel Gibson
as Hamlet, and Glen Close as Queen Gertrude, takes a different look to the play.
Zefferilli explores the physiological stability of Hamlet very well, especially in Act
3, Scene 4. My interpretation of that scene in the text was different to the one given in
the movie.
After reading the scene, I had the notion that Hamlet was already quite confused he
had just come out of a scene where he could have killed the king, but his blunted

In the painting Guernica by Pablo Picasso, the artist uses abstract shapes and
figures to represent the horrors of war. The work is a large mural painted in oils
and the colors used are variations of black and white. By using these dark somber
colors instead of bright vibrant colors, Picasso shows that Guernica is not a
painting that is supposed to be visually pleasing but instead is supposed to present
a message. Certain shades of grey in the painting look like that of an old printed
newspaper and almost make the work seem like it is a picture you might see on
the front page. Picasso uses shape quite a bit and the painting seems to be centered
on a triangular shape that draws the eye upwards and to the center to the eyeball.
This eyeball, with an iris made out of a lightbulb, looks to be casting a light down
upon all of the carnage. The jumble of human limbs, geometric shapes, and animal
heads are given emphasis because they appear to rest atop a solid black
background. There are quite a few figures in this piece and the overall movement in
it is chaotic. Certain figures are given emphasis because of their size, such as the
woman holding the candlestick, the bull s head, and the crying woman holding her

two days straight during the Spanish Civil War. This painting was his response to
the tragedy. It was largely overlooked when it was first unveiled because of the
abstract nature of its composition but is now seen as famous representation of the

etching with aquatint. It is also in black and white and features another gruesome

In the short story, The Conversion of the Jews, Philip Roth discusses the constant
oppressive behaviour that religious figures have, and the rebellious attitudes of the
youth. Rabbi Binder is a one sided person who is never open to the views of others.
He sees Ozzie Freedman, the questionable protagonist of the story, as his mission to
enforce religionand to never allow free thought. Philip Rothpoints out the hypocrisy
of religion in his short story, The Conversion of the Jews, where he shows

Introduction:
Archaeology has allowed society to gain a vast understanding of past cultures and
behaviours over thousands of years ago. Scientific research has allowed us to widen
our knowledge on humans and their past interaction. Through the excavation of the
Terracotta army, many insightful secrets have been uncovered. Buried in a large
mausoleum over 2200 years ago, the site reveals past hints of cultures and beliefs
during the ancient civilisation of China, although techniques need to be implemented
to better preserve one of the rarest ancient treasures and evidence that remains. The
Terracotta warriors are an army of clay built by the ancient emperor Quin Shi Huang.
When excavating the site many significant items have been found that have provided
scientists with lots of research. Many problems have been evidently found while
excavating and a few controversies have been sparked.

Children are normally dependent on their caregivers, but having an intellectual
disability increases the child s dependency. Caregivers have to adapt and learn to
overcome the daily obstacles encountered when raising a child with an intellectual
disability. The complexity of raising a child with disabilities has been analyzed in
several studies. One study in particular focused on the process mothers
experienced while raising their disabled child. 11 mothers of disabled children
were interviewed during the study to collect data. The results suggested that

A gloomy, dark, broken, isolated, boring place was known as Frightful Fields.
There stood a land of no happiness where crickets chirp, owls hoot, cries, and
screams were heard. This place was a run down, rough, and dry city which no one
ever strolled on the grounds of. Rats ran on the streets and trash was thrown all
over the roads. The night glared at whoever was outside at anytime. The air always
had a smell of blood in it. Never was there any sun or color. In fact, the city was more
