Duct quiet zones utilization for an enhancement the acoustical air-condition...IJECEIAES
This paper investigates the duct’s noise distribution pattern due to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This study is considering the longitudinal sound wave distribution that can permit a higher reduction of these heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems duct noise. The proposed technique is depending on the lowest sound pressure level points in the duct or duct quiet zones. Moreover, each heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems duct has several quiet zones, depending on the sound pressure level of the fan noise source and the duct length as well as the duct diameter. Furthermore, the noise standing wave has a wavelength (λ) which is the distance between two successive quiet zones. This work utilizes orthogonal acoustical noise with the standing wave via feed-forward control speakers. This system confirmed that the distance (λ) is linearly proportional to the duct source noise level. This system noise reduction enhancement has been fulfilled by installing further noise feed-forward control speakers at different duct quiet zones. The system simulation results were displaying satisfactory agreement with the field experimental results.
Chip Hoynes managed the project to renovate an existing Army conference room into a SCIF facility with secure videoconferencing capabilities. The $400,000 project involved demolishing parts of the room, installing secure doors and walls, upgrading HVAC, and implementing a complex secure audiovisual and videoconferencing system. Hoynes helped develop the project plan and managed personnel, design, installation, and budgets to deliver the project on schedule according to contract specifications.

Ceiling solutions for Education #PSBPcomfortSu Butcher
This document discusses ceiling solutions from Armstrong for different building types such as transportation, office, retail, healthcare, and education. It provides information on Armstrong's services, portfolio of materials, and technical systems. It then summarizes case studies on using high thermal mass ceiling systems with phase change materials (PCM) to improve thermal comfort while reducing energy use. Tests showed PCM ceilings can delay air conditioning by 4-8 hours and lower peak temperatures compared to standard ceilings. Acoustical performance of PCM ceilings is also addressed.
C5267 Case Study - Acoustic Enclosure for SRSM Air Blast Drying ProcessChristian Senior
The document describes an acoustic enclosure built for an air blast drying process to significantly reduce industrial noise levels. The custom enclosure was 4 meters long, 2.75 meters wide, and 2.2 meters high with internal blast screens around two drying stations. It provided over 30dB of noise reduction, lowering external levels from 112dBA to 82dBA and the control room interior from 112dBA to a quiet 46dBA.
Acoustic Applications designed and constructed noise control facilities for a steel producer including an upper level control room and amenities area, and a lower level electrical room. The facilities were designed to support existing mill structures, provide safe access via stairwells and platforms, and withstand the noisy and dusty industrial environment. Sound insulation and ventilation systems allowed personnel to communicate comfortably while overseeing production areas. The turnkey project was completed within a limited installation schedule during a two-week plant shutdown.

This document summarizes a presentation on energy efficient structural design and framing systems. It discusses advanced framing techniques like insulated 3-stud corners, rim headers, continuous drywall, and modular fireplaces that can improve a home's energy efficiency. It provides examples of how these techniques were implemented in test homes and reduced energy use by 30-50% according to modeling and monitoring results. Quality assurance measures like inspection, testing and retesting helped achieve low air infiltration rates below 2 ACH50 in one of the test homes.
This document outlines the design of the HVAC system for the first floor of a science and technology hospital in Sana'a, Yemen. It discusses the building description, cooling load calculations using both manual and technical methods, duct design including duct sizing and selection of fans and accessories, and pipe design for the chilled water system. The technical method of load calculation in the REVIT program was found to be more accurate than the manual method. Ductwork was designed and fans were selected to meet the required air flows. A closed two-pipe direct return chilled water system was chosen for temperature control.

This document provides calculations for lighting and acoustic design of three spaces - a learning space, cafeteria, and retail shop - within a building. It includes calculations of illuminance levels, number and layout of light fixtures, daylight factor, reverberation time, and sound transmission for each space. The calculations determine that 11 compact fluorescent lights are needed for the learning space, 23 for the cafeteria, and 3 fluorescent tubes for the retail shop to meet recommended lighting levels. Reverberation times of 1.39 seconds, 1.9 seconds, and 0.86 seconds are calculated for the three spaces, respectively.
Coal gen 2011 wet fgd performance upgrade at b.l. england unit 2NAES Corporation
The document describes a case study of performance improvements to the wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system at the B.L. England Unit 2 coal power plant using ALRD® technology. The plant was facing new, stricter emissions limits and considered various upgrade options before choosing to install two levels of ALRD plates during scheduled outages. The installation was completed successfully within budget and on schedule. After the upgrade, the FGD system was able to achieve over 97% SO2 removal and meet the new emission limit of 0.15 lbs SO2/MMBtu, demonstrating the effectiveness of the ALRD technology.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs
Storytelling is an incredibly valuable tool to share data and information. To get the most impact from stories there are a number of key ingredients. These are based on science and human nature. Using these elements in a story you can deliver information impactfully, ensure action and drive change.
