Offices & Mess Facilities for Furnace Control Rooms
Process Details: Office, Kitchen & Dining Facilities and Washroom Facilities for the furnace control rooms
situated within a world leading steel-makers melting shop
Scope of Work: To survey, design, manufacture, deliver, install and commission the required facility, this being of
approximate overall sizes 15.7m long x 3.5m wide x 3.2m high.
Design Considerations: -
• The offices and mess facilities being situated in close proximity to two electric arc furnaces, and in this
respect the entire facility to be suitable for operation in the noisy, dirty & dusty conditions of this heavy
industrial process, and fit for purpose in providing a safe working environment for operations and
maintenance personnel - constructed in modular form, with each individual module being purposely designed
& sized for ease of transportation and installation on site.
• Internal partitioning throughout to form the management offices, cloak-room area with industrial hanging
apparatus, fully equipped kitchen & dining area (inclusive of base / wall units, electrical appliances, dining
tables & chairs etc.), fully furnished wash-room (including toilet cubical, urinals, vanity type unit complete with
wash basins, electrical hand dryers etc.).
• To ensure the total comfort of personnel and the satisfactory operation of all electrical equipment, a forced
fresh air supply was provided working in conjunction with an industrial air conditioning unit.
• The turnkey package included the provision of suspended ceilings, modular & emergency lighting, mains
power, data transfer, plumbing services and heavy duty finished vinyl tile flooring etc.
• Rigid manufacturing programme and a limited installation schedule to coincide with the end users two-week
summer shut-down period.
Acoustic Performance: The office construction provided a ??dB reduction from factory ambient noise levels,
and room-to-room noise, allowing personnel to effectively communicate in a stress-free, comfortable
environment.
