Design Thinking & HR - Caterina Sanders (SocialHRCamp Vancouver 2016)SocialHRCamp
Design thinking is not a new concept in many areas of business, but in HR it is beginning to gain serious ground. In a recent Deloitte report, of the 7000 respondents, 79% felt that design thinking was an important or very important issue for them this year, with HR professionals believing that they are ready for the journey of moving from “process developer” to an “experience architect”. (Deloitte Human Capital Trends 2016). This hands-on session will introduce you to the main tenets of design thinking and allow you time to try a couple of exercises as applied to the context of social technologies and HR. Participants will walk away with some tangible insights that they should be able to apply to their workplaces immediately.
Template for facilitating transformation planning workshop. Incorporates systems thinking, neurolinguistic programming, organisational change management, organizational change management, high level business architecture and clean language techniques.

The role of mindset in design thinking: Implications for capability developme...Zaana Jaclyn
Presentation for Design for Business: Research conference, 12-13 May 2015, Melbourne, Victoria. Part of Melbourne International Design Week 2015.
Paper abstract:
Design thinking continues to be an emergent field as it pertains to business. In building design thinking capability in organizations the current focus is on design skills and tools, rather than mindset. This imbalance toward design process, methods and tools is also present within design thinking and design research literature. Mindset is little acknowledged.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate and articulate the role of mindset within design thinking capability and practice. Mindset is the perspective that informs how a person approaches and interacts in the world (Nelson & Stolterman 2013). Where mindset is acknowledged as a critical underpinning for design thinking in the literature, it is usually presented as guiding principles for design doing. There is little insight into what the different mindsets are, how to develop or enact them, or how mindset impacts on practice. Mindset remains underexplored in discussions of design competency and maturity.
By analysing qualitative data collected across three studies of a doctoral research project exploring the composition of design thinking in practice, two mindsets emerged. These were: design thinking as a way of work and design thinking as a way of life. Design thinking as a way of work is focused on the process of design thinking with the primary purpose of designing for outputs and innovation. Design thinking as a way of life is a holistic view of design thinking where the focus is on designing for transformation and creating positive change. These mindsets are scalable, applicable to an individual or organization.
The two mindsets, when mapped against competencies in design knowledge, skills and tools, contribute a framework to explore maturity in design thinking. Understanding the maturity framework, and the role of mindset within it, has implications for how an individual and organization can build capability in design thinking and maximise outcomes in the environment in which they are designing.

Select a question offered by your colleague that he/she did not use and suggest potential ways that your colleague or the organization might drive innovation and overcome the barriers and status quo.
Compare your colleague's findings to those of others and your own. If you see similarities, explain why the status quo might appear similar across different workplaces and industries. Do not limit your responses solely to budgetary or resourcing constraints.
Identify any challenges at a colleague's workplace that seem unique or that you have not encountered before. Offer your ideas about why you think those are important and which discovery skill from Dyer, et al., would best enable your colleague and/or the organization to drive innovation and overcome the barriers and status quo. Be sure to provide your rationale for your choice.
Offer your insights to your colleague about the value of this process and importance of using it to identify opportunities for innovation or opportunities to challenge the status quo.
POST1
Ten Questions that challenge the status quo at my current workplace:
1. What if we allowed customers 24/7 access to our model homes, would this increase our sales?
2. What if started a program that allowed customers to stay for one night in our model homes so that they could get a feel for the home (see if it’s a good match)?
3. What if home loans were easier to get and builders covered more costs for the customers?
4. What if my organization stopped focusing intensively on the sale and more on the actual customers’ needs as a homeowner?
5. What if all employees tried to help one another versus helping themselves? What affect would this type of partnership have on the company and its customers?
6. What if we built more than the traditional clubhouse, pool house, and common areas in our communities? What if we offered something that isn’t common such as a community go-kart track or skating rink?
7. What if we decorated the exterior of our central office, including our showroom, in themes each week to excite and attract customer’s attention? Imagine the word-of-mouth advertising we would generate.
8. What if we built a home for the local homeless people to stay in and take up donations for them to get back on their feet?
9. What if we gave one house a year away to someone in need? This type of generosity may attract customers who can appreciate us giving back to the community.
10. What if washed people cars, cut their grass, take out their trash, etc. in exchange for a donation to a local charity?
The one question I chose is #5: “What if all employees tried to help one another versus helping themselves? What affect would this type of partnership have on the company and its customers?”
This question is important because there is more strength in numbers meaning the mo ...

Boston UXPA 2016 | What’s Worse: A Root Canal or Selecting Health InsuranceBecky Minervino
Why is selecting Health Insurance so painful? From the myriad of carrier choices to the endless amount of forms to the lack of transparency around what you’re are signing up for, the complexity around benefits selection is frustrating for both employees and employers. In order to make this process easier for everyone involved, Fidelity and BEAM set out to re-design this experience — taking an agile and collaborative approach to understanding how to make the process of selecting and managing health insurance better.
We'll talk about how we leveraged a variety of best practices and user-centered approaches to tackle this complex problem. This includes:
• Understanding the different constituents within the current Health Insurance experience: employees, employers, brokers and carriers;
• Our approach to understanding individual needs through interviews with benefits administrators across a variety of organizations;
• Distilling findings and incorporating design-sprints to arrive at “just enough” concepts en route to a full MVP;
• Validating concepts through prototyping and co-design with users to refine the experience;
• What worked well and what we are doing for the next phase of work.
Engaging with People Through Multiple Touchpoints, Channels, and Technologies.
New technologies, device types, and evolving patient expectations place a large burden on service offerings from health organizations. New technologies can be disruptive, but they can also be disrupting, especially if organizations don’t have a strategy on how to deal with the evolving landscape. Virtual reality pain management? Passive low-band telemetry data? Health monitoring? We will discuss approaches that health organizations can take to manage the ever evolving technology landscape and shifting patient dynamic from hospital care to home care.

Human-Centered Design and Innovation in Health Organizations.
There is increasing acknowledgement and movement toward human-centered design and design thinking for innovation, service design, and product development. However, evolving and transforming toward these practices in well-established and highly regulated health organizations is a challenge. Organizations have explored Innovation Centers, re-organizing around products and service lines, aligning with functional domains, and expanding design thinking through training. Attendees will share their experiences as we collectively look at how health organizations can evolve to get the most impact from their design transformation efforts.
Facilitator: Adam Connor, VP Design Transformation, Mad*Pow.
Designing for Health Behavior Change.
Beyond use of digital tools and services, health organizations are increasingly considering how they can help people make positive change in their lives. Additionally, there are potential business benefits to changing behaviors to align with the organization's objectives. But designing for behavior change is challenging and has long-term outcome goals that may not be aligned with short-term business incentives for health organizations. Issues of trust and ethics also come into play. With these complex factors in mind, this discussion will explore the strategic options for health organizations to consider related to changing behavior.
Facilitator: Dr. Amy Bucher, Behavior Change Design Director, Mad*Pow.

Memorandum Of Association Constitution of Company.pptseri bangash
www.seribangash.com
A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.
https://seribangash.com/article-of-association-is-legal-doc-of-company/
Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.
www.seribangash.com
Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.
https://seribangash.com/promotors-is-person-conceived-formation-company/
Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.
https://seribangash.com/difference-public-and-private-company-law/
Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

4. THE QUICKFIRE PROCESS
"Quickfire", noun [kwik-fahyuhr]: rapid ideation to action.
A Quickfire sessions offers the sustainability expertise of your Net Impact members to a
lucky client in a punchy four hour design-thinking inspired session. The session will examine
and tighten an organization's strategy, identify 'quick-wins', create a process for execution
and allows space to think big and create value by solving social and ecological issues.
The structure of the Quickfire allows Net Impact members to meet one-on-one with a
client and co-create solutions and strategies. It’s a ‘knives down’ approach that uses visual
tools to tackle specific problems and produces concrete solutions.
PREP: Establish client, problem statement, team and do background research.
HOUR 1: Appreciate and discover
HOUR 2: Brainstorm
HOUR 3: Synthesize
HOUR 4: Mapping the future
5. PREP
It’s all about getting on the same page...
•Find a great client! (see the appendix for email templates etc.)
•Meet (or talk) with them to establish the problem statement for the engagement. For example:
• How can we clarify our message and radically expand our user base?
• How can we find suppliers and partners that will further our mission?
• How can we scale operations to manage growth?
• What are some sustainability 'quick-wins' that further allow me to show the value of being 'green'?
• How can I make sure that I'm spending my time on the most high-value activities?
•Establish a date, time and location for the session.
•Post an invitation to your Net Impact chapter with the necessary who, what and where... and why!
•Ask the client to write an email that includes pertinent background of the org., links and insight on their
industry and send to attendees. Ask them to do an hour or two of background research.
•Two days before write an email to all of the confirmed attendees with full details about where to meet and
what to expect.

What are your organization’s unique capabilities? How did
they help you accomplish your goals?

9. HEADLINES FROM THE FUTURE
It’s February 2020.
What are the headlines in the papers saying about
the work of your organization?
What impact have you had?
What are you known for?
Some real examples:
We’ve never seen eight people happier to be out of a job
Company X restores ecosystem services to pre-industrial levels
2020 is the year of transparency thanks to X
The new normal: we know what we are putting into our bodies
Toxicity levels down to there lowest in decades due to strong market changes in chemical production

What are you currently doing?
How do you evaluate success? What systems are
being used? What are the feedback loops?
Why are you doing it?
What are the beliefs and values of the organization
that drive these decisions?
What’s not working?
What are the pain points of this system?
12. BRAINSTORM: RULES
The Rules
1. Defer Judgment. Don't block someone else's idea if you don't like it...put it on the
whiteboard and maybe you'll be able to build on it later.
2. Go for volume. Getting to 100 ideas is better than 10, no matter what you initially think about
the "quality". Try setting a goal for the number of ideas you'll get to in a certain amount of time to
provide some stoke.
3. One conversation at a time. When different conversations are going on within a team,
no one can focus.
4. Be visual. Sketch your ideas out for your teammate. It will communicate them more clearly than
words alone, plus you might inspire some crazy new ideas.
5. Headline your idea. Make it quick and sharp, then move on to the next one.
6. Build on the Ideas of others. This leverages the perspectives of diverse teams and can
be especially useful when you feel like you're stuck.
7. Stay on topic. Your idea for an edible cell phone is awesome, but not during a brainstorm on
making opera more exciting for children.
8. Encourage wild ideas. The crazier the better...you never know where your team might be
able to take it. (See #1 and #6).
